 Loved your spelling! It's Bad Windsheim and you pronounce Bad with an a like in large, not as the English word bad. And Windsheim is like the English "winds", but say the W more like a v, and then "heim" is pronounced like it rhyme, but starting with an h instead of an r... :goodvibes It means home of the winds.

It is about 35 miles from Nuremberg, about a one hour drive because you have to drive along rather small roads.

I was pretty close on the spelling! It's a miracle!!

I am glad to know I pronnounce it correctly - though I should, considering that is where my parents live and they talk of it often!

Gosh, I just want to take my Mom back and come visit sometime! It would be so much fun to drive those small roads and visit it all.

Liesa - Random question that I have been meaning to ask, but keep forgetting....did anyone ever figure out what the letters in your signature button are for/mean?? I remember everyone talking about it and trying to figure it out, but I never saw the answer. I'm curious!!

Hello all!

I'm here updating for Liesa since it's Sunday and she's not suppose to be on the computer. :goodvibes

Liesa did her Ho Ho 5K today and survived!! She's very sore but alive and Santa is very proud!! :cool1:

Be sure to tune in tomorrow for great pictures and stories of fun times and disastrous equipment failures.

Hope y'all are well. I think I out did myself on shopping today. Hopefully I won't have to shop again until I need to get all our goodies for Christmas dinner. :goodvibes

I am TUNED!!!

Naaaaa get an Android instead, it's a much better phone than an iphone. Just ask Tim....or me! It's suppose to actually be a much better phone right now. Sprint carries them and I'm not sure who else, but Sprint is suppose to be the best plan for families needing cell phones, they've been good to us for 11 years now. :goodvibes
LOL Ask me! I love my Sprint-Evo!!

Millie- how are you making out with your phone? Are you getting the hang of it yet?

I will get nothing because he will be true to his nature and have to learn ALL there is to know, research until the cows come home and be and "expert" before he'll take the plunge. Drives me up the wall. Anyway, I'll probably get a frying pan or something else he can pick up at TJMaxx on Christmas Eve. :lmao:
Oh MY!!! :scared1::scared1: :rotfl2::rotfl2:

Liessa I got pix uploaded today !~!!

This one's for you!!

We were all thrilled to see that the Smithsonian included Dumbo!!!
Go Rosie Go Rosie!!!!! :woohoo::woohoo:

WTG with the pic uploads!!!!! :yay::yay:

Congratulations!!!!! WTG LIESA!!!!!!!!!

{disastrous equipment failures} I can't wait to SEE what this is all about... :rolleyes1:rolleyes1 popcorn::popcorn::

Yes Dan you are saved from the Horrors of trying to teach me via pms !!!!! Dawn did a great job , she had never uploaded to photobucket so we sorta learnt together and I think that was why it all clicked with me !! I can upload right to PB don't have to upload to computor first which is awesome !!

LOL Ask me! I love my Sprint-Evo!!

Millie- how are you making out with your phone? Are you getting the hang of it yet?

I love it!!! I know I have tons more to learn but I'm having a ball learning how to navigate these goofy waters of technology. I'm curious to see what my son comes up with on his, I'm sure he'll teach me lots messing with his. My DH hates, with a capital H, cell phones. I offered for him to get this phone and he actually raised his voice and said he didn't want it and to give it to Tyler! Since it was the last day for it to be offered free I jumped on it and got it for Tyler earlier than his upgrade would have allowed him. (his wasn't until May) He's going to be really surprised and beyond thrilled!!
Thank you for helping me to decide to get the Android Tim. :flower3:

Congratulations!!!!! WTG LIESA!!!!!!!!!

{disastrous equipment failures} I can't wait to SEE what this is all about... :rolleyes1:rolleyes1 popcorn::popcorn::

She certainly has some tales to tell. :goodvibes

Liesa, well done!! Congratulations on your second 5k!! :cheer2::cheer2::cheer2:

Disastrous equipment failure - that reminds of the time I went hiking with my father and half way through the hike, the sole of my walking boot started to become seperate from the boot... I walked the last 2 miles with a sole that was only attached with some strings to the boot. Very unpleasant!

Liesa, I HATE being so far behind. You are the last (and I saved the "best" for last--just don't tell Marv) report I have to catch up on. There are just too many things for me to comment on and so I'll just do a few.

I love the photos of you and DH with your medals from the Marathon -- EXCELLENT!

The photos with Andrew at the university brought back many memories of when we took our second son to college and left him at that dorm. I'll never forget him looking at his dad as I'm crying my eyes out and asking his dad, "what do I do." And Mark says, "nothing...just let her go at it and get it out of her system...she's a mom."

Love the camping pictures too.

OK, I just got some GREAT advice from a friend who's oldhat at making gingerbread houses. You have to do it in 2 stages. PUtting the houses themselves together the night BEFORE!! Then doing the candy with the friends the next day- that way you don't have collapsing walls and roofs. Brings a whole new meaning to bringing down the house. :lmao:

Yes! We make the houses ahead of time. I don't know why I didn't think of it years ago.

Nope not yet. Yes, he did have a girlfriend... remember all THAT drama last year?? They called it quits (mutually) before he left. And that was good. She wanted someone who talks (I hope she gets lucky, I never found a guy who REALLY likes to talk!) and "share". I think she may be looking a very long time.

:sad2: Nor have I. I wish my husband liked to talk more, but I know its just not in their (most of them, anyway) natures. That's what girlfriends are for!

I admit it. I haven’t trained like I should have leading into my 2nd 5K. I’m paying for it today- big time. But that’s not the story I’d like to tell. I have to tell you instead about how I got into such a sorry state of soreness- such that I cannot even move. At all.

Remember the last time I did this? It was 5:00 that we got up. I only did one hour better, and can attest that 6:00 is still too early to get up. For anything. But especially for running. But we did. And unlike last time (because I had put myself in charge of directions) we made it with plenty of time to spare. Time to use the porta potties (twice- I’m sure you needed to know that.), stretch

warm up, and find out just who the spectators would be:

DSCN1433.jpg

About a half hour before start time, we had the first of 2 serious wardrobe malfuncitons. I can’t quite decide, even now, which one would prove to be the worst of them. I only have a picture of one. You’ll thank me later. I had thrown my shoes in the dryer the night before, delaminating the glue on the sole of my shoe. Luckily, Bek had running shoes on, so I quickly threw hers on and used them. Even though they were a size too big, it didn’t turn out to be a big deal.

DSCN1429.jpg

Soon it was time to head off- uphill. Starting off uphill stinks. So I walked. It was gently downhill from there, with a few more ups, where I walked again.
DSCN1432.jpg

(Just in case you are wondering, you can't see me, because I am incredibly short.)

Santa was there at about 4K urging on us. I told him I was already nice, and if he told me one more time I was doing a great job, I would very soon be naughty. Kind of like when you’re giving birth, and the doctor tells you to push, it’ll all be over soon. Liars.

Not too far before the finish line my lovely children, who also lied to me telling me I was doing a great job, and it’d be “over soon”, took a few pictures:

DSCN1438.jpg

They took these about 20 minutes before I came through. I know this because Mike finished THAT much faster than me:

DSCN1435.jpg

DSCN1434.jpg

But WELL before I got even close to the finish line, I started feeling this stabbing where no one should ever be stabbed. For a while I couldn’t imagine what could be making my flesh feel like a hot knife was skewering its way into me. But then it hit me!! I had made amateur Runner’s Mistake #354. I had worn an underwire “tray table”, and the wire decided to turn lethal weapon. Seriously, I have changed my mind about a Taser, and am in the market for a fleet of death scythes fabulously disguised in really great places in case I run into trouble in a dark alley sometime.

So, maybe that was what ended up shaving about 30 seconds off my overall time since my last 5K? I dunno, by the time I reached here:

DSCN1440.jpg

More than just my legs were screaming to be done.

DSCN1441.jpg

I’ll bet you want to see my reward at the end of it all:

DSCN1444.jpg

The pea soup was pretty good, but these were better:

DSCN1442.jpg

There were also Ho-ho’s, after which the race was named. Cute huh? The ho-ho run. I called it the Slow-Go Run.

So was I nice??

DSCN1449.jpg

Santa seemed to think so.

Great Pix Liessa !!Santa would have had to bring his Sleigh to get me to the finish line !!By the way DC Food Porn is UP!!!

That's just him trying to show that he's his own man now, all young men go through a stage where they start being mouthy and arguing everything that's said to him no matter the conversation. I call it...."The cutting of the apron strings." Your situation might be a bit different since he's been away for a while, but a lot of young men come back around to being the sweet "little boys," we once knew them to be once they know your not trying to force them into being that little boy they once were at home. I wonder how many of the guys on here would admit to this.

I know you're right, Camille!! And apparently none are going on that limb of admitting. :lmao:

What a wonderful son you have raised!!! :) He sounds like a great kid! Congratulations!

So far things are going great! He is a winner for sure- but the next 3-5 years will really show what he's made of.

Liessa I got pix uploaded today !~!

This one's for you!!

We were all thrilled to see that the Smithsonian included Dumbo!!!

Awesome for learning how to upload, Rosie!! Thanks for one more picture of that cute little flying elephant. I wish they had made them all pigs though. Then maybe I'd be able to say running a 5K was easy. :lmao:

Only two updates behind this time, I'm getting better.

Fun camper, I foresee some fun times at the campgrounds near a mouses house. ;):goodvibes

Oh wow, getting one settled for college. I bet it makes you feel good having family so close though. :thumbsup2

Can't wait to read the next update:)

I am getting them up WAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYy slower than I had ever hoped. But this whole moving back thing (and now moving again!) is kicking my hiney.

Yes!! I hope someday, our little camper will get us to Trail's End again.

Having family IS great! I just wish it was MY family too. Mine are all back in Kentucky and DC- so I don't get to see them nearly as much as I"d like!!

Thanks for posting for me, Camille!!!

I coulda sat on Santa's lap, but I"ll leave that cheeky stuff to Rosie!! :rotfl2:

Me too, Camille!! Done! with shopping until the food for the 2 holiday dinners. :cool1:

Liesa, well done!! Congratulations on your second 5k!! :cheer2::cheer2:

I walked the last 2 miles with a sole that was only attached with some strings to the boot. Very unpleasant!

As you can see, mine was also a sole delamination issue (among other worse things). That really stunk, and I had a mini- panic attack before I realized I could use Bek's shoes. :scared1:

Congratulations on the second 5k!!!! I need to get back into running and get into my FIRST still. :rolleyes1

YOU CAN DO IT!!!! GO! GO! GO!!!

Hi Kathy!! Glad you saved the best for last  I know I am only able to hit some quick comments on the ones I'm reading now too- so no worries!!

Now, you have 2 races to read about! :santa::cool2:

I actually thought of you some when I did that update about Andrew going to school. Kind of bittersweet in so many ways. Mom's don't change the world around, do they?

Yes! We make the houses ahead of time. I don't know why I didn't think of it years ago.

Nor have I. I wish my husband liked to talk more, but I know its just not in their (most of them, anyway) natures. That's what girlfriends are for!

JUST finished putting the houses together. Tomorrow we'll do the candy/decorating at 11:00. Problem? I took ALL the candy down to Salem in my baking bags, so need to run out tomorrow first thing and buy all new! What an idiot!! Anyway, the houses look GREAT!!! My girls could be architects, easy! :thumbsup2

Talking? Forget it. Ain't gonna happen. I love my phone- call anytime!

Letter T is up for grabs!! Go ahead, give yourself a thrill and guess!!!

Just white out your answers here on the thread- and no peekies!!

Please don't be in a state of confusion over this letter! U has an unbelievably LONG list of words under it- so give it a go!! Guess this one right here in the thread, whited out please!!

I am unable to choose a color above for some reason - I've put in a support question - I'll PM you.

Okay, I know this one - OREGON DUCKS!!!! Oh, not at WDW? :confused3 Okay, I'll try again - it is the right color!:goodvibes

You know what?? My color button hasnt' worked for like 2 weeks!! :headache: I thought it was just me or my settings, but apparently not. I've just chosen black, then changed the color wording manually in the code- which is a massive pitb!!!

Liesa! Congratulations on finishing another big Race!:cheer2: As for wardrobe malfunctions - Oops! Good for you for not letting it stop you!

Well done! I am so glad you could use Bek's shoes! No way could you run with that sole! Sorry about the other wardrobe malfunction, I had this happen to me once (not on a run though) and it is very uncomfortable!!!

I think your time improvement might have been due to the weather. I find temperatures between 50 and 60 best for running and since you were wearing capris, I guess it was not much colder than 50? :thumbsup2

Those letters look really difficult to me, I hope I have some time to do research before you move on... I am very busy this week... :scared1:
