And there's far worse things than motown in the minds of our readers. Well, ok, maybe not.
I KNOWWWW you're talking about Glenn and Rosie instead of me!!! :rolleyes1
Hi Friends,

I just got back from the hospital - my step-father went in to have his pacemaker battery changed. He had been out of breath the last few days but we thought it was because he needed the new battery. They were going to send him home today but he still was not breathing well and I insisted they bring in a pulmonary team. They discovered he has fluid on his lungs and said he has congestive heart failure. He has emphysema which doesn't help matters. I will know more tomorrow when I talk to the team, but I was given the news by a Resident who seemd to make things sound somewhat dire. But I know people can live with congestive heart failure, right? I'm sorry I'm writing a novel here but I've come home to an empty house and I'm ridden with fear. My mom just passed away in February and my father passed away last Easter. I just can't bear to lose someone else.

Could you please say a prayer that my father gets better? Thanks.
Wow Tracy, sorry for the bad news, but also glad they at least caught on that something was wrong instead of just sending him home with an existing issue! Sending thoughts and prayers your way!

I'm sorry to read this Tracy. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your step-father.

Leisa,

I enjoyed the roller coaster ride and I'm so relieved everything worked out. I can only imagine the stress of time. I'm also glad I'm reading it after it was resolved and didn't have to live it. You're amazing.:worship:

Amazing story Liesa! Wow!

And that gate agent, telling you how you could copy an old stamp...unbelievable!

I don't know how you managed to keep any composure to you at all. I would have been a complete and absolute mess.

He’s waving his stamp like a rodeo clown, brandishing his wares as if he was holding the fate of 6 helpless ex-pats in the palm of his hands. What’s that you say? He was??

The gate agent spied him from the cabin door, and realized that the Force was with us that day. He bounded down the aluminum stairs to meet the All-Powerful, egg-shaped, stamp-bearing buffoon to exchange imprints for cash (yep, ‘til the very last flippin’ minute, they managed to extort $$ from us). The whole exchange took less than 30 seconds, plane door to plane door. For once, I thanked God for teensy-weensy, bass-ackwards airports in the middle of nowhere on the wide open steppe.

Unable to contain my exhilaration, I unbuckled (as if a buckle is really going to help anyone going down), and dashed to the front of the plane to meet my newest Mr. Wonderful. I’m pretty sure everyone on the plane knew what was going on, so I lifted them in the air and gave a great big, “Yippee!” No one did the happy dance with me, but I so totally didn’t care, I wasn’t going to be seeing any Kazakh jail time any time soon!!!

That's some serious wahooty! And 5 miracles to boot.

Totally random...Jeff and I were talking about Fokkers last night so it was funny to see one in your TR. Not a plane we really see much.

No, not in that way, you only have to register at the town where your permanent residence is and once you move your permanent residence to another town you have to tell the previous town that you are leaving. So much less crazy!! :goodvibes

You are supposed to do the same thing here....aka...forward your mail. Which accomplishes the same thing. Now if that would only notify the bazillion other places you have to change an address....

It does make one never want to move.

Awesome update, Liesa!

Funny that I had already heard the story and it was still so exciting to read!

Your writing style is amazing.

Tracy - I am praying for all of you guys! Keep us posted.

Liesa, your update sounds like a scene from a movie! :lmao: I'm SO glad it all worked out even though it was down to the last second.

I am so sorry, Tracy. My parents passed very close together, not long after my son. I understand what a difficult time this is for you. Holding you, your father and the edical team very near and heart and prayer. Stay strong and lean on us.:grouphug:

Leisa, that was some update! Had me holding my breath to the very end (I read fast. ;) )

The Source was definitely with you that day....ready for the next exciting installment. :thumbsup2

Now that I am finally keeping up, wouldn't ya know my surgery is scheduled for Tuesday...don't want to even think about how far behind I'll get then!!:sad2:

Must figure out a way to have the laptop on something besides a lap so I can spend all day time reading the rest of next week.:surfweb:

However, I called the next day and evidently the kitten had really taken to Lauren...

Animals are soooo intuitive and just know who they belong with. My brother and sister-in-law raise dogs and they had a cocker spaniel that they were giving to a family as a companion for their elderly mother. Well, when the couple got the dog home she immediately went into their daughter's room and wouldn't come out. That night the daughter had a seizure and the dog alerted her parents and they were able to get her the medical attention she needed. The mom told my DSIL that the dog knew were she needed to be and they were glad for it.

I don't how you manage that stress, I would have been crying, yelling and pouting all at once. :rotfl2:

I'm so glad that you got your egg shaped stamp though!

Mary----- Buster is a cutie!!! Lauren is also :goodvibes I have two close relatives that have CP and my dog just loves my cousin. I take him to visit her often and he makes such a fuss over her

Liesa----Phew :faint: I am cracking up that he was telling you how to copy the stamp:laughing: Thankfully he made it there when he did....of all times for a flight to be EARLY!! :sad2:

Tracy

Well the stars and the miracles lined up right for you guys this time! I knew that you got the stamp since Mike made it back too, but I didn't thinkit was going to be that 'easy'. :lmao::lmao:

Love how it cost you to get a stamp that should of already been on there anyways. :badpc:

Note to self: travel with eggs... just in case. ::yes::

I have no idea how I missed your post earlier! :( Sorry!!

They are one strong bunch of people. :goodvibes

We posted at the exact same time. No worries - I know you still love me!

Hi Tracy - Praying for you and your stepfather. I don't think you ever have to be sorry about writing a novel on the DIS or this thread. It is a great group of people who will always want to know if someone is going through a tough time.

Liesa - what an update! I knew you all made it here but how was the question. So glad he could show you how to fake stamp but couldn't just wave you through without it. Plus you had to pay - crazy! So glad it all worked out in the nick of time!

I tell people at work all the time we are soooo spoiled with all of the freedoms that we take for granted and others have lost their lives for!
Leisa, I'm glad that you were able to make out of the country as a family. If the plane had to leave before you recieved the stamp what may have happened? Would you all have to stay or could it have been taken care of at your next stop?
