Maroo, I love it when you get a fun Southwest crew!:rotfl: You did a great job of remembering the speech!

I'm glad you made it through without old Earl stopping you ladies!

Hi Tammie!!
You're up late tonight too! We just finished our cake and ice cream for Andrew's 20th birthday. I think I may go cry a river in the knowledge I am that old- how did this happen that 20 years ago today, I was in Medford delivering a 4 pound little boy who couldnt' even breathe on his own? 2 days later, he and I took his first airflight to Portland in an air ambulance to the NICU at Emanuel where he spent the next 5 weeks until he could nurse, weighed barely 5 pounds and pooped regularly. I guess the older you get, the faster time marches on.

Ya''ll must get along great; maybe you had some brisket earlier, and she was begging to get hauled out as old furniture by then.
She had to borrow my wife's car the other day so before I left for work, I made sure it had plenty of gas. I also turned up the radio to full blast and set it to the Spanish station so that she could experience the spirit of Fiesta when she turned on the car. It's all about putting other first I always say.

thats a good one i need to do that to my MIL, she really honked us off this week.

they have been saying they want a new fire pit ring so we got them one for christmas, mind you it was not cheap.

now she says she wants to return it because it will cost over 500 dollars to put in the special fire proof bricks so it doesnt catch the ground on fire.
:sad2:

i did my own research and the stuff they need should cost under 20 bucks to put it in the existing location that they already have landscapped.

glenn help me out with a screaming, hitting your head on the wall smiley.

but I've never seen your toes... I tried on your last trip, but I got shoe'd feet instead. :rolleyes1
Believe me... you are happier looking at pics of my shoes than my toes.

So... are you saying I over-managed??
I hope not... I hope you were able to enjoy yourself without having to check notes to see where you were supposed to be. :lmao::lmao:

I put those up in my reply to Cap't Oblivious. There are plenty there. :lmao:
Once again... guilty of skimming. Just trying to catch up. (the story of my life here on the DIS)

Once again- thank you so much!! It hit the spot for sure. And gave me something to blame for my MFPP!!
Glad I will always be remembered for a MFPP!!!:banana:

Yes, the manager was there in the kiosk talking with a maintenance guy for one of the machines. Feeling rather dorky and having my readers' best interests at heart, I had him snap a shot of me- he tells me it wasn't the oddest request he's ever had. :rotfl2:
Wonder what other kinds of requests they have gotten. :confused3

Hey All, I see a few of you are on. I am checking in to take a break from working on my talk I will give tomorrow to a group of ladies at our church. The topic is finishing well, and how that relates to our return; how it is so easy to become discouraged (of living out of boxes, of not feeling settled in, of not having a job lined up yet, etc...) but that we've always been taken care of before, and how that can give hope and example of "finishing well".

Anyway, if you think about it, you can ask for wisdom and the right words for me to say tomorrow.

Liesa, if you speak half as well as you write, they will be blown away. Good luck and I will be sending positive thoughts and a wish for positive verbalization!:goodvibes

That's so funny!! I do that when my kids get too noisy in the car, too.

As for gas in the car.... I can only imagine it was loaded up.... did you have jalepeno poppers first, in keeping with the theme?

Oh man, Dan! I'm so sorry! That does seem rather inconsiderate, especially if you've done the research and it seems a cheap fix. Hope it doesnt' cause any long-standing rifts.

Believe me... you are happier looking at pics of my shoes than my toes.

You're probably right. If I found polish, I might be sorry I ever asked. :lmao:

I hope not... I hope you were able to enjoy yourself without having to check notes to see where you were supposed to be. :lmao::lmao:

I promise I did not, (it was memorized :lmao:) but I did use it several times to check in with ADR numbers.

Once again... guilty of skimming. Just trying to catch up. (the story of my life here on the DIS)

As is mine. Carry no guilt.

Glad I will always be remembered for a MFPP!!!:banana:

It is quite a title. I could make you one, if you want. :rotfl2: Just think of how shiny it would be.

Wonder what other kinds of requests they have gotten. :confused3

Hmmmm... any ideas??

Oh, thank you so much!!! One of my points is actually asking for encouragement along the way, and sharing the journey with others. It is so much tougher to walk a road such as this alone!

i dont think it will, sometimes the MIL is just a little crazy in the things she says and does...i think they will keep it especially if we dont give them the reciept for it.
:thumbsup2

What a great beginning to your trip. You had me laughing out loud with you night time pre trip insomnia. That is so me. If I sleep three hours before I leave for a trip, that's darn good. I am so glad you had an uneventful flight and ME ride. I can't wait to hear about what you did on your first day!

Good luck with your TALK tomorrow !! I agree if you talk as well as you write it is gonna be sensational!!!

Any other sign could not have been more exciting for me to see!! Except maybe this one:

DisneyTrip2010003-1.jpg

(It’s a little blurry, but I love the way the palms framed this shot!)

The bus lumbered into POP with a big sigh of relief (squeak….. psssssss), and the excited guests gave theirs as well. Gathering their carryons, (remember, most of us had no large parcels! ME would do the heavy lifting here!!) they filed out very politely. But being a single traveler and having stowed no luggage under the carriage, I had a massive advantage in getting to the head of the class. I bee-lined it straight for the check-in desks saving my gawking for a later time.

Check-in went quite smoothly, and frankly I don’t even remember the name of the sweet check-in lady who breezed me through in about 20 minutes. That included my debating about getting charging privileges on my Key to the World Card, and deciding not to- for now. More on that soon…

Now, I’ll bet you’re all (at least those of you who played the Master Predictor Game) intently wondering which section I got!! Are you ready?? This is your answer to #1 on the Master Predictor Game. I will go back through your answers soon, and find out who guessed:

The 50s SECTION!!!

LiesaDay1065.jpg

Let me soliloquize a little on the 50's section of the POP, since I’m sure you all want to know. It was perfect!! Not only because I had requested that section, but because:

1) It was a short walk to Classic Hall and all its outrageous amenities. Insane amounts of food choices (including a divine breakfast pizza!), the big pool, and some groovin’ tunes to jam out to on your way there!

2) If you ask for the back of it, you get a view such as this:

LiesaDay1068.jpg

LiesaDay1067.jpg

Seriously! I was stunned, thrilled and elated that we got EXACTLY the location I wanted. Away from the noisy side of the building, yet close enough that we didn’t have too far to go to get to the action.

3) It has some seriously great protection by a gigantic guard dog who is used to pulling some action in the toughest sections of town, yet savvy enough to act refined when necessary.

LiesaDay1069.jpg

And, if enormous guard dogs don’t scare you into behaving in the 50s section at POP, perhaps the frighteningly large dancing icons will. Clearly this is NOT a Disney attraction, for I have not found one yet, where they allow that kind of opulent anarchy. Interesting how conveniently “random” the letters behind that dancing fool turned out.

LiesaDay1071.jpg

4) The POPs 50's section has some amazing Mousekeepers who enjoy making your day special and their guests feel welcome with whimsy and fun! Over the course of our stay, we got a couple more of these cute little creatures who welcomed us “home” each evening.

LiesaDay1064.jpg

Feeling rather secure, and LOVING our location, Tate and I started to get settled in. He was VERY happy to finally be liberated from his bag, and approved of our accommodations. S/he immediately started jumping on the beds to make sure they were fit for a Potato, and deemed them suitable. I was glad to know they were fit for jumping on and contemplated following suit, but restrained myself this time.

LiesaDay1066.jpg

It was just a shade before 1:00- RIGHT ON SCHEDULE! Like I said, it didn’t take us any time at all to get through the check- in gig. And I had had time to think on the charging privileges. Seemed like a good thing to do, and actually, it turned out to be a very convenient thing- and I’m glad I did it.

LiesaDay1063.jpg

Right about then, I thought it was time to get those photos of our view you’ve already seen. So, I stepped outside. Without my key. I was happily (and obliviously) snapping away, and satisfied I had gotten the best shots I could get with POC, turned the handle to get back in. Pfffft! Great! Another great thing (most of the time, except when Moron #1 strolls in) about POP is that you can always be sure that your room is secure! Baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaack to Classic hall- hip-hoppin’ and groovin’ all the way there, I went. Do you know how many security questions they will ask you if you lock yourself out?? I think I counted 917. And some I didn’t even know. Mary’s phone number?!! Fuh-geddabout it!! My great aunt’s last cholesterol count, and yesterday’s lotto numbers were among them, I think. What seemed like half an hour later, I had convinced the guy that I was not trying to steal someone’s deodorant or Tinkerbell shirt, and he gave me another key. Baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaack to the room again (may as well take a few pictures along the way, right?) I trudged (with a little less hip-hoppin’ in my groove thang) and let myself in to get my park bag. Fully equipped this time, I slunk baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaack to Classic Hall (if you’re counting this is trip #4) to get some lunch, and greatly relieved that they were going to let me in today!

Maroo -
Yay more Maroo:woohoo:

Glad that your flight turned out well. I also get nervous when flying. I bet those flying attendants made things easier. At least they know how to have fun with their jobs, or maybe they moonlight as a comedy team. :rotfl2:

OOOOoooo I can't wait to see which MAW family you meet up with.

So cool that you were right by the Tramp. I love Lady and the Tramp!! BEST. GUARD DOG EVER!

Liesa, this something I would do. I'm so afraid of this happening this happening to me, that I'm careful about my room key. But c'mon who wouldn't believe this face:

Tramp kept us safe for the duration of our stay- phew!! I was so relieved that Tate didn't have to show anyone his ninja moves!

It was only the first of my MANY MORONIC MOMENTS!! I will actually do a whole post titled that at some point- it just got funnier and funnier as the week went on. You ain't seen nuthin' yet!!

I like to think I am very believable, but in the end, I think the guy was just so exasperated with me, he finally threw up his hands in desperation to get me out of his face.

Awesome location Liesa!

Did you notice any construction going on across Hourglass Lake? Animation Inn is supposedly opening in 2012. Around the time of our return. Thus it's of keen interest to me.

Sorry to hear that you had to trudge back several times. But isn't the POP just a hoot to walk around?

SO love the atmosphere.

Glad they finally bought your story. You should have broken into some Khaz for them. Really shaken things up a bit. Maybe even gone for gold and offered up your plans for springtime radishes.

Aww, time does go by fast! He was born in Medford? 20 yrs ago, we had just moved back here to record lows(-10) after tropical Okinawa and warm Sacramento. I was wondering why God would send us back to this place I wanted to escape so badly. I'm still wondering...:rotfl: So glad your baby boy grew up to be such a wonderful young man. God always has a plan!

OH!

And I forgot to say hi to Tate!

Hey little spuddy!

(I have a way with plasticated vegetation.)

It really was a great location! I couldn't have asked for more. You know, I'm not really sure, what maroo truly thought of it- so I am excited to hear her take on it eventually.

Nope- there was NOTHING going on over yonder. Zero, zilch, nada! Sad, to be sure!!

It was a hoot- especially at night! I loved walking around at night with the lights and activity, and all that. But more on that later.

And talk about a hoot... if I had laid loose my plans for radishes, I might very well have been thrown out for disorderly (or at the very least lewd) order. :lmao::lmao:

Yes, on the way home from vacation in San Francisco. We got as far as Medford, and I was REALLY uncomfortable. We went to dinner and by the time we had finished, my contractions were 5 minutes apart. But it was my first baby and I was beyond clueless. I called the hospital from the hotel, and they told me to get in there like, yesterday!!! I lasted 4 days on some HORRIBLE medication that made me see triple, and not be able to get up to even pee. they finally turned that nightmare stuff off, and let me go. And there ya have it.
