:yay::yay::yay::yay::yay: for the Mickey mail of tickets. And I love the pins you got as a CM when you were at DL.

I am glad Baby and mom are okay.

That was very nice of Marv and Pat to send you the Nurse pin.

Again, congrats on your test score.

And I am sending lots pixiedust: that you get that score to maintain your 4.0.

Hello! Congrats on your exam score and your 4.o !!!!:banana::banana: Nice job on the Doula-ing. It must be so rewarding to use your education and be able to help. Beautiful sunrise pic!
We ate at Flying Fish we liked it but didn't find it to be as outstanding as everyone else seems to. My favorite was the cheese plate appy. I think it felt so snooty that we weren't comfortable there...yay
for MICKEYMAIL!!!!!!

Congrats on the great score on your latest test!!!!! So glad you could take Minnie with you.
Those pins are quite a special set.

So Glad Mickey finally came home. I guess he wanted to stay in Florida as long as possible?

I love Mickey Mail; always gets me more excited for this trip! The pins were certainly fun to find in the attic a few weeks ago! You never know what you'll find up there.

Me too! It was a rough go for over 36 hours.

It sure was! What a nice surprise; I had NO idea they'd done that!

Thanks, so much, Kathy! A 4.0 is really not the main goal here, so if I get the B I won't cry in anyone's soup, but it would be a nice piece to happy to end the term.

Thanks, Tammie! On both... I love school, and I love what I"m going to school for! Shooting for CNM would be a nifty goal although would take several more years of schooling. Not sure I'm up for that.

I'm going to keep looking at both and will be reading some reviews, including the many that were posted here. It also may depend on park plans, and that won't happen for a while.

Congrats on the great score on your latest test!!!!! So glad you could take Minnie with you.
Those pins are quite a special set.

Thank you, Pat!! And thank you again for the pin! Marv texted and said you 2 had fun hunting for it. ;) Yes, they are...

So Glad Mickey finally came home. I guess he wanted to stay in Florida as long as possible?

Great job on a 92% People don't always understand how hard our testing can be. It is really difficult when all the answers may be right but which is the best!!
So you had fun being a doula?? Can I be a full time doula instead of a L and D nurse...bills...bills...Disney trip...bills...I want another Disney trip...paycheck of a doula...Disney...paycheck of an RN....Bills...Better stay an RN!!!

Glad you received your Disney Mail. I love Disney mail.

When did the P's go from 4 to 5? Guess I need to look that one up. They say things change...that wasn't one I'd thought would change-presentation was part of passenger since it is the way the passenger is laying. Oh well, live and learn. I'll have to look that up and talk to my collegues. Oh well we all are in a meeting tomorrow. It will be time to ask them.

Have fun on Spring break!!

Thanks! And yes, the plan is to stick this out and get to RN, but I gotta say, I think L & D could be an avenue for me. I have a ways to go before I have to decide, but I've been told by several of our instructors that my personality type fits a higher paced work place as well. Having just spent a term in Long Term Care, I can't say I love it. I could do it, yes, but, it would be hard to have the repitition for me like that.

I don't know when it changed, and didn't even know it was ever 4 only because this was the first time this was presented to me. Maybe they added it just to teach us the many positions? but from what I'm also reading in our text and various internet sources it does seem to be 5. Presentation is also called "position" in some places. I'm not sure it is critical for a safe outcome, but it's good to have a working paradigm for communication, I guess. Let me know what your collegues say, I'd love to know what the present consensus is in the real world!

I will! I plan to cook ahead for the last term of the year, work in my garden a bit, maybe paint my daughter's room and sleep! ;)

It was not a happy, everything-is-rosy kind of birth, but not every birth is. And now, after seeing a pretty seriously dysfunctional situation, and knowing I can still cope and function as a level-headed professional, I think I could go the direction of L & D. Time will tell...
Oh wow. I'm glad that you were able to put your education to good use already and help them out!

She missed her high jump and fell off the mat, hitting her head causing a really serious concussion. She was having seizures, was vomiting, and out cold for about 5 minutes. A 911 call and ambulance ride later, she is now at home on strict bedrest for a week or so. Poor thing.
That is scary. I'm glad that she was, for all intents and purposes, ok. I mean a concussion and bed rest for a week isn't exactly ideal, but it could have been much, much worse.

A little LONG-AWAITED Mickey Mail came to a mailbox near me. A 100% genuine 8 Day Park Hopping little beauty with everyone's favorite mouse's portrait on the front!! 1+1+1= 3
Wooohooo!! I'm glad the post office didn't eat it!

Lo and behold, a couple of little Angels had sent a most wonderful surprise to me, completely unexpected, and it was this:
Cool surprise. And yeah, the timing for it seems absolutely perfect.

One for each area of the park. As far as I understood it at the time, this was a CM exclusive set not available to the general public. I have NO idea how much they'd be worth to a real trader, but it might be worth a look-see. Who knows?? Maybe a small mint. Or an 8-day Hopper. Which is approximately of equal value.
Oh... those look cool. I'm not a pin trader either, but if I had a set like that it would be hard to let them go. But I totally understand. If it gets you that much closer to the next trip, well worth it.

I need to get an 87% or higher on my FINAL to get an A in the class. I cannot remember what I got on my FINAL last term, but it will be close. Very close. It will definitely not be the end of the world if I don't get an A, I mean seriously, who has ever asked a nurse what they got in Nursing School?!, but it would be nice to hold onto my 4.0 for as long as I can. I worked hard to get it, and I'll work hard to keep it.
Whatever happened to the concept of "D for Degree?"

And no, that wasn't my motto in school. I might not have had a 4.0, but I was still well over 3.0. Good luck, I hope you can keep your 4.0.

And they do. At least at my house.
They do at my house too

Good job helping out with the delivery! Sounds like they needed an advocate, and you're a natural.

Yay for Mickey Mail, and that was some fairly valuable Mickey Mail -- not something you'd want lost!

Oh wow. I'm glad that you were able to put your education to good use already and help them out!

I am too! So, we just had our information/orientation session and I learned that we get a couple of weeks IN Labor and Delivery. So that will be a fun experience and really help me to know if that's the right direction or not.

That is scary. I'm glad that she was, for all intents and purposes, ok. I mean a concussion and bed rest for a week isn't exactly ideal, but it could have been much, much worse.

I guess she took a turn for the worse today, and had to go back for a CT Scan. They did find evidence of any brain bleeds, but she is on alert at home and basically isn't even allowed to watch TV.

Wooohooo!! I'm glad the post office didn't eat it!

Me too! I still find it odd though that the tracking wasn't updated after it left Orlando... (?)

Cool surprise. And yeah, the timing for it seems absolutely perfect.

I think there were a few Providential interventions that were associated with its purchase and transit. ;)

Honestly, I figure, if they've been sitting in our attic for 5 years, I really won't miss them all that much now.

I will find out on Tuesday...

Yay for Mickey Mail, and that was some fairly valuable Mickey Mail -- not something you'd want lost!

I hope they are settling into parenthood well; I guess I should try to contact them tonight and ask if things are going ok.

Exactly! If it hadn't come by today, I was going to have to call UT and find out what was what.

I'm caught up again -- got lost a while back there... Congrats on your latest test score!! Great job! Yay for Mickey Mail making it to you! Love the pin you received, and the timing was beautiful.

Thanks so much! Now onto studying for the next 4 days for our final.

Wasn't it?! Such a fun surprise! :)

It has been a long time since I've had some genuine, uninterrupted time to just sit all by myself and “play”.

:confused3 What's that? No idea what you're talking about.

To my extreme delight and surprise I got a text at 4:30AM saying they would love my presence and, if I was still willing, to come; I was needed. She was still in labor, having a VERY difficult time and Dad needed relief. I didn't get it until 8:00 that morning, but was at the hospital by 10:00. To make a long story shorter, Mom was in her 24th hour of labor with all of her hopes of a natural birth dashed.

To end your suspense, Mom and Baby are fine and healthy physically, but have a long road ahead psychosocially. Maybe when they visit I can point them in the right direction for some counseling and further help.

What an experience! I'm so glad you were able to be present for them, get some experience for yourself, and lead them through the ordeal. 24 hours!!! :faint: I'm glad everyone is safe and hopefully the story will eventually have a happy ending.

Marv and Pat, I LOVE my Nurse Minnie, and can't ever thank you enough!

Awesome! Marv and Pat rock!

Ok, back to today's exam. I did very well today. I got my best score yet at 92%!

:banana::cool1::woohoo:

I'll leave you with a sunrise I got to experience on my way to school a couple of weeks ago just to make you smile.

Gorgeous photo!

:confused3 What's that? No idea what you're talking about.

I know you're busy too, Mark! But the babies do grow up, and then you have BIG kids who can have a beer with you, or can go on ALL the mountains, and really stay up late. It's a different world and it came more quickly than I ever thought it would. Hang in there!! But in the meantime, enjoy the chubby cheeks and firsts.

It was so totally awesome!! Just found out that this coming term includes a rotation in the Labor and Delivery Dept. That ought to give me another chance to decide for sure if that's the direction I want to go.

Awesome! Marv and Pat rock!

Right!!?

Those are really cool! If I had a small mint, I'd help you out, but I only have these:

Completely understand the mint-sized salaries State workers earn. Not. I gotta say, Fire Season is nice for my Forest Dept employee hubby to earn an extra paycheck fighting fire.

Gorgeous photo!

Why thanks! That was off my deck...

Found your TR a couple weeks ago and read a little at a time until catching up just now. Finally can comment. Congrats on your good grades so far on your exams. Hearing your stories brings me back a few years. I am an RN, have been for 20 years. I have a Diploma in Nursing-- I think this has been all but eliminated nowadays, though. It was a 33 month program, we went year round (we had August off) We had three 12 week terms and an 8 week shortened term (would be 3 clinical days instead of 2) each year x 3 years, very intense. Most of my career has been in Home Health, which I really enjoy for the most part (LOTS of documentation)

A WDW trip is DEFINITELY the way to celebrate finishing Nursing School!! Looking forward to more details as they happen.

For the next 10 hours I coached her, comforted her, gave accurate information as I could, and guided her in making some medical decisions that needed to be made like having her membranes broken so labor could progress (she'd been “stuck”, dilated at 7 for 4 hours with no progress and needed some “encouragement” to allow the Nurse Practitioner to intervene for her and her baby's safety).
Holy carp! TMI, TMI!!!! :rotfl2:

Seriously, that sounds like the labor from he77. My sister has close to a 24 hour labor before they had to do a c section. Glad you were able to be there from your friend. :)

Suh-weet!

Awesome pin! I think Melody has one of those.

Marv and Pat, I LOVE my Nurse Minnie, and can't ever thank you enough!
How thoughtful... I'm sure Pat & Marv get major brownie points for this.

Ok, back to today's exam. I did very well today. I got my best score yet at 92%!
Good going!

Beautiful! Check out those colors!

Here's a little PTR secret that I'll just leave right here for the frequent and faithful)
shhhhhhhhhhhh... I won't tell anybody

I think L & D could be an avenue for me.
ummm.... whats L&D? :confused3

So, I enjoyed your story about your friend's wife birth, but why do they need counseling? I'm confused? Is it because they did not have a totally natural birth? I worked in L&D as one of my many jobs, so I am curious.

Congratulations on such a stellar semester. I can't believe its almost over. When do you start back up again.

Love the pin from Pat and Marv. How thoughtful. It's super cute.

What a gorgeous morning. I miss your pictures.

Congratulations on doing so well on your big exam. Great update too! What a wonderful experience you got to have being in the birth room with your friend, it truly is amazing, it's different being on the other end of it, watching Leom be born and seeing Marrisa fall in love with him (She even cut the umbilical cord herself) is something I will never forget.
The Minnie nurse pin is super cute, I haven't seen that one before.
Yay for Mickey Mail!!!! That always brightens the day.

One big, fat, huge welcome to you!! So glad you are here to share in the pandemonium of all that is here. (Actually, it's pretty slow right now, but it'll pick up after the next term. Promise!)

So happy to have you reading along, and LOVE that you are an RN who can offer advice and encouragement along the way! YAY!!! You are right, I"ve not ever heard of a Diploma in Nursing; we only have ASN, BSN, and Bridge Programs around here. Of course, all with varying degrees of expense and quality. Yours sounded incredibly intense! Phew! For comparison, ours is a 2 year program- (3) 11 week terms each year with the summer off in between. Our Clinicals are 2 days/week for 6 of those weeks. Although this coming term I'm going to be doing a 12 hour shift just one day a week for 6 weeks. But this term is cool because we get to do several rotations as well including L&D, an outpatient surgi center, peds and a couple of others.

I am seriously considering doing home health care for medically fragile children this summer after I pass the LP NCLEX to make the money for next year's tuition. So any advice is awesome!! I know it will include lots of trachs and tubes.

Anyway, life is super crazy right now, and I know you can relate! Keep coming around; it's great to have you here!
Holy carp! TMI, TMI!!!! :rotfl2:

You were in with your 3 kiddos.... riiiiight?

Seriously, that sounds like the labor from he77. My sister has close to a 24 hour labor before they had to do a c section. Glad you were able to be there from your friend. :)

It truly was, in every way. But a healthy baby and healthy mom are what count, right??

Awesome pin! I think Melody has one of those.

How thoughtful... I'm sure Pat & Marv get major brownie points for this.

I love it! And it would make sense that Melody has one. And yes, they totally get Brownie Points. I just may have to pony up a drink when we meet up... (shhhhh, that's another secret. ;) )

Beautiful! Check out those colors!

I wish I had more time to devote to my photography right now. Just not going to happen for a while... :(

shhhhhhhhhhhh... I won't tell anybody

I knew I could count on you. :lmao:

ummm.... whats L&D? :confused3
