The ABC's of Trip Planning, Pt 1- K is for Keeping Things Kooky- Drinks V-Z; pg. 197 + New Link

Well I am back again !!! This time with 20/20 distance vision!!! Can't wait to get my new glasses which will be bifocals as I can't sand taking glasses on and off . I am amazed at how good by distance vision is now . This Thursday evenng I will see if I see as much better at night !! :confused3:thumbsup2:goodvibes

There were times that I wish I could just sneak away and play hookie from where I was supposed to be.

I call these times "when I'm at work."

Other times, I was having a blast and didn't want to be anywhere else.

And these I call, "when I'm not at work."

Let me just say that I ADORE the music they set this to. I have it on my iPod and fondly think back to the warm (I think it was still 'sultry', as it was the same day as my Rose and Crown visit. Plus, I really like that word.) I know they play several tracks, but there is one with a ton of strings... hang on, let me see if I can find the name....

Nope, can't find the name, but I do love it. I know it's not the Rescuers. Maybe it's the Rocketeers. I know Josh Tesh and Yanni both have tracks.

I wouldn't call the Rocketeer music string-heavy, except for maybe the latter half. But man, what a great, underrated movie score that is. I think that's my favorite fountain song. Then again, I pretty much like them all.

One patient asked me how much longer I had in school and I told her that I had a few weeks left in this term, and ALL of next year. She told me in return that she hoped it'd go quickly for me "because you're a very good nurse."

:goodvibes

She is my Angel and a great kid altogether. I thought she was an antichrist straight from Hades from about 6 months until about 3, but we got through that with nerves mostly intact and only one instance of her running up the street naked "running away". To say it was bad is a GROSS understatement. But I digress, she knocks my socks off with her giving heart and I really was feeling it yesterday.

Holy cow, that's a rough start. This was really sweet, though. I thought it was funny that she made you sign it. Do you change your mind a lot or something?:rotfl2:

Seriously, this woman is going to WDW to get some quiet??!!

Well, when you put it that way...

Which brings me to my concern. At this point, it is only concern, not really worry, but it's a growing feeling that there could be dark clouds a'lurking in Tripsville.

Uh oh. Me no likey.

You see, like a few of you (I've got your numbers, cuz you're my true Soulmates.), my hubby really doesn't dig the whole amusement park thing. At all. He, you see, also likes quiet, but in an ENTIRELY different environment that truly IS quiet... even silent. He the kind who would be truly happy sitting in a camping chair in the middle of Nowhere, 1,000 miles from any other human soul, any amenity whatsoever, with only the wind and hawks to keep him company. We both want to be lost in our thoughts at times, he is just happy in places I find utterly...

BORING!!!!

Well, putting myself in his shoes, I can close my eyes and imagine that experience, and I can definitely see where one could appreciate that.

For about 30 seconds or so. Ok, now what are we gonna do?:hyper:

But what if he came out say on day 6, and joined us for the last 4 park days? Just kind of enough for him. The plan since the inception of this whole thing was for the whole family to spend some Disney time together, then send the kids home, while we continued on to the Keys. Then we'd get him in some diving, me some snorkeling, and both of us some shopping, dining... and all the rest of whatever goes along with a Keys stay. Hubba hubba.

I love that plan! My wife and I dream of sending the kids home while we escape. Someday...

So there you have it. A soul baring expose on my front-end anxiety. Do what you will with it. :)

I'll just get jealous if you pull it all off!:rotfl:

Must be behind that cabinet thingy.

:lmao::rotfl2::rotfl:

Read one update. Must catch up on your school progress. Still 2 more exams? I think your 89 is awesome. Keep up the stellar work.

Once again - happy birthday. I laughed so hard when I saw that note on FB, especially the "don't make it too hard" part. Pure Honesty! :rotfl2:

So, yeah - being on the post partum floor is perhaps the most boring thing EVER. But I hope your love L&D. I actually worked in L&D for a year and it was pretty cool.

OK, back to read more.

Oh wait - good for you and your fellow nursing student friends for giving back and doing that walk. You guys rock!

Your plan is perfect. How can anyone not like a few days at Disney followed by a trip to the Keys? It sounds perfect and your DH should definitely burn out on that. Your BFP gets my 100 percent seal of approval.

:rotfl2: to the Mickey Mouse instrument!

That sounds like the perfect plan for a trip...some family time and some solo time!! There should be no guilt at all in that regard...I would feel worse for leaving them all at home while you go to Disney alone...but this way they are all getting just the right amount!!

Hi Kathy!

I think so too! A little time for the Disney-Luvers, a little time of sneak-in-some-solo or DISMeet-time, and a little time for Nature-Lover-Disney-Hatin'-Cranky-Pants-in-a-Park-Hubby. I'm really hoping a fair number of those DISMeets pan out. There's some really good folk here. Last time I went, I actually did leave them all at home, and it almost entirely guilt free. But this time, I'm actually excited to have them join in the fun.

doing a drive by....:drive:

It's so great to see you here, Jordy, even if just a little. Ease your way in at your own pace, we'll be here as you can be.

I think I saw that on the news.

I'm glad SOMEONE is paying attention!

We've got a couple of those ghosts around our place too.

Do they leave ghost turds around?

Huh. Small world.
(Do NOT start singing that song!!!)

Someday I'm going to develop and antidote to getting songs stuck in your head. That song is my sole motivation.

I had no idea organs had meat.

Usnaconsole2.jpg

Must be behind that cabinet thingy.

I wondered why organ music stinks!

Really? Hadn't noticed.
I, on the other hand, am a model of brevity and succinctness.
My modicum of words borders on curtness.

You have a talent to be sure!! :worship:

I had to bring my car in for an oil change and they told me I'd need a frenulectomy and a brake job.

Pretty sure that's what they said.
I might be mistaken about the brake job.

I'll bet that was tough to diagnose!!

Thank you for the heebie jeebies.

You're welcome!

Aaaaaaand... Back to the heebie jeebies.

I have talents too.

But then I thought "Whoa man.... woman."

I am no such thing!

::yes:: Oh I get it. Indeed I do.

::yes::

One more time!! ::yes::

Don't slip a disc before that possible Oct, 2016 trip!! (that's a crap-ton of head bobbing!)

So you've got my number. Check.

Getting closer.

Seems like a pretty good plan. Best of all words for all concerned.

I think so. Now just to make a wad of cash to pay for it all. And graduate. That would be good too.

You're going to chew gum?
Oh... wait. I'm thinking of Hubba Bubba.
What were you..... Oh.... Oh!
Nevermind!

You're on the right track...

Rosie!! That's SUCH great news!! What an awesome outcome. :hyper:

Be careful as you start to drive at night- maybe with little test drives at first? So great to have you back. :)

Read one update. Must catch up on your school progress. Still 2 more exams? I think your 89 is awesome. Keep up the stellar work.

Thanks!! This next test is REALLY going to give me a run for my money!! EEK! Dyscrasias, HIV, STIs, Eating disorders, and Male and Female Repro disorders. SO MUCH MATERIAL!!!! :scared1:

Once again - happy birthday. I laughed so hard when I saw that note on FB, especially the "don't make it too hard" part. Pure Honesty! :rotfl2:

Thanks so much, Mary Ellen! It was a fabulous weekend in everyway possible! will put a couple pix of my birthday surprise here for those not on FB to see.

She's a kick in the pants, and I can't wait to share a Disney trip with her while she still has that childlike wonder and fun spirit. (Although I'd like to think I'm going to die riding a coaster someday.)

So, yeah - being on the post partum floor is perhaps the most boring thing EVER. But I hope your love L&D. I actually worked in L&D for a year and it was pretty cool.

That was my take too. Just a little slow for my taste and a lot of waiting for the next vitals and such. I do like the lactation teaching though.

Oh wait - good for you and your fellow nursing student friends for giving back and doing that walk. You guys rock!

:cheer2: The kids are all such incredible superheroes in my book!

Your plan is perfect. How can anyone not like a few days at Disney followed by a trip to the Keys? It sounds perfect and your DH should definitely burn out on that. Your BFP gets my 100 percent seal of approval.

:rotfl2: to the Mickey Mouse instrument!

Exactly, a nice time after the hype and fun to wind down and do something different... but not too long. ;)

Do they leave ghost turds around?

No. We have guinea pigs that do that quite well, though.

Someday I'm going to develop and antidote to getting songs stuck in your head. That song is my sole motivation.

If you're ever close, I'm in as an investor.

I wondered why organ music stinks!

:lmao:

I'll bet that was tough to diagnose!!

Strangely enough... no. I don't think it was.
I said. "What's wrong with it?"
The mechanic said. "Do you know anything about cars?"
I said. "No."
He said. "It needs a frenulectomy. That's $2,000."
Seemed legit.

(that's a crap-ton of head bobbing!)

::yes::

And graduate. That would be good too.

Yes. That would be.

You have to limit yourself to 8 things every test and you're already going with thunder storms???? :faint:

How cute is that?!
So cute it is scary! :rolleyes1

As you know, it was also my birthday on Friday, and I had a special few treats. One patient asked me how much longer I had in school and I told her that I had a few weeks left in this term, and ALL of next year. She told me in return that she hoped it'd go quickly for me "because you're a very good nurse." Melted my heart, made my day, and gave me that mental boost to stick with it and finish out this year well; I'm on the right track.
Well that just makes your day. Or week. :goodvibes :thumbsup2

Then, I came home to...

Sweet. But I find the condition about it not being too hard hilarious. :rotfl2::rotfl::lmao:

She is my Angel and a great kid altogether. I thought she was an antichrist straight from Hades from about 6 months until about 3, but we got through that with nerves mostly intact and only one instance of her running up the street naked "running away". To say it was bad is a GROSS understatement. But I digress, she knocks my socks off with her giving heart and I really was feeling it yesterday.
I'm glad to see that she has turned out better once she got past the toddler years! :rotfl2:

I know you all know what Make a Wish is so I won't give a run down, but I had the honor of walking with 6 other Nursing Students today in a fundraiser walk for the Foundation.
Looks like a lot of fun. And for a great cause too!

I'd rather move to somewhere exotic and eat organ meats than deal with a computer that has changed it's appearance. No lie.
:rotfl2::rotfl::lmao: I'm going to go on a limb and say you don't deal well with change?

I was super excited to assist in a frenulectomy the other day. That is the quick, and relatively painless procedure of clipping the little membrane under a baby's tongue to help them nurse better and prevent speech problems later. As the doctor was explaining the procedure to me, he held up his little cutting tool and said, "This is called a Mickey Mouse tool." It truly did look like a Mickey head with a cutting blade/scalpel in between the ears. The frenulum slips right in between the ears and... SNIP. Baby didn't even cry nor did he bleed. But there ya have it. A surgical tool called the Mickey Mouse.
Never heard that one before! Our niece had that done a few months ago. It really helped her with nursing, but I don't know if they used a Mickey Mouse or not.

This is just my own experience, so take it all with a grain of salt, and don't put too much stock on what I'm saying. No one else does either. ;)
Yeah, that won't be a problem. :rolleyes1

wanted quiet, uninterupted time to just do what I wanted to do, on my OWN timetable. I wanted quiet to think, to stop, to eat on no one else's preferences or opinion; I wanted time to wander, touch, see, and smell, and to wonder at what *I* found beauty in, to laugh at what I found funny at the time. And when it was time to hurry up, I wanted the freedom to do that too.
Sounds great to me! Even if I can only get it for a couple of hours, I'm always going to jump at the chance!

Going solo, you can do ALL of that and more. You can have the freedom to think, feel and do on your own volition, and I'm here to tell you...

It was fabulous.
::yes:: ::yes::

I am truly concerned that if I drag him to WDW for a 10 day vacation, he will be very resentful, think it was a totally extravagant waste of money (he may have a teesy bit of a point), and have a huger hissy next time I want to go.
Yeah... the money thing is a good point. I have a hard time with that one, and I've bought into Disney big time! But you definitely don't want to give him more ammo!

The kids and I already have 8 day Hoppers. (I really want 8 park days; 2 in each park with likely some extra in EPCOT, and lesser in DHS, and a couple of down days at the pool or maybe even just resort hopping.) But what if he came out say on day 6, and joined us for the last 4 park days? Just kind of enough for him.
You know... that seems like a great idea!

The plan since the inception of this whole thing was for the whole family to spend some Disney time together, then send the kids home, while we continued on to the Keys.
Seems like it would be more enjoyable for him that way. And possibly for you. :rotfl:

and all the rest of whatever goes along with a Keys stay. Hubba hubba.
All ya gotta do is say "earmuffs"
Earmuffs.gif

Loved the picture from the Make a Wish walk. :thumbsup2

I did not know there was a Mickey Mouse medical instrument. Very cool!

I've been to the Keys. I don't know about any double-hubba, but they do have coffee and verandas. :smooth:

I hope you had a great Mother's Day.

I love the plans of some family time and then some "alone" time. I think it would work perfectly.

I realize I"m a tad behind on replies to my dear readers here, but have been spending the small amount of time I have for the DIS on catching up on others' threads. Hopefully after the Exam on Tuesday, I can spend a bit more time here and reply and get an update up. :) I haven't forgotten you, Friends!

Whew, all caught up! From saving to unbelievably busy! I hear ya on the busy! I have several clients going on vacation at the end of this month (2 to WDW, lucky guys!) and have been trying to make sure every detail is perfect for them. Between that and my kiddos I haven't had much time to DIS. I'm taking my 16yo DS (grumpy #2) to take his permit test later today. No interest in driving until he decided he wanted a job to buy more video games and computer equipment, lol.

Your simulations sound hectic and stressful but I hope they're good learning experiences! And an 88% sounds great but I understand the desire for an A. But honestly, I'm perfectly okay with a nurse who earns a B through hard work vs. one who slides through with an easy A. The first seems more dedicated to the details that might save my life!

No. We have guinea pigs that do that quite well, though.

We used to have one of those too. Until my daughter accidentally left it outside and its shady spot rurned sunny. She felt HORRIBLE!!!!

So now we have a dog, snake, chinchilla, rat and a bunch of fish. ENOUGH I SAY!!!

If you're ever close, I'm in as an investor.

I know I can always count on my friends.

Strangely enough... no. I don't think it was.
I said. "What's wrong with it?"
The mechanic said. "Do you know anything about cars?"
I said. "No."
He said. "It needs a frenulectomy. That's $2,000."
Seemed legit.

Sounds like a legit price too. :rotfl2:

You have to limit yourself to 8 things every test and you're already going with thunder storms???? :faint:

But actually thunderstorms are super high up on the list and I can't believe they didn't make round 1. I miss them terribly, and for that reason alone I'd move to the South. They bring back some fantastic memories of my childhood summers spent in Ohio and Alabama.

Sweet. But I find the condition about it not being too hard hilarious. :rotfl2::rotfl::lmao:

I did too. She's such a riot and I'm glad too see a smidge of her sassy pants 'tude stick around from her rocky start. Just enough to make me think she's headed for a position as a CEO someday of a Fortune 500 company.

I'm glad to see that she has turned out better once she got past the toddler years! :rotfl2:

Yes, she's too big to strap into her carseat for a timeout now. (Yes, we really had to do that for her own protection!)

Looks like a lot of fun. And for a great cause too!

The Wishes that the kids announced as they got their medals wee 90% WDW or Aulani. It was a super fun day!

:rotfl2::rotfl::lmao: I'm going to go on a limb and say you don't deal well with change?

Unless I"m on a plane leaving for a 3rd World country with 4 kids under 11. :lmao:

Never heard that one before! Our niece had that done a few months ago. It really helped her with nursing, but I don't know if they used a Mickey Mouse or not.

They are a lot more common that I thought they'd be. :) ANd I"m always excited to share an oddball piece of Mickey trivia.

Sounds great to me! Even if I can only get it for a couple of hours, I'm always going to jump at the chance!

I use it as time to re-charge and get some "I'll do what I want, when I want to, thanks" time.

Yeah... the money thing is a good point. I have a hard time with that one, and I've bought into Disney big time! But you definitely don't want to give him more ammo!

There will come a day when going on a vacation just you two, or even alone, will come. But for now, enjoy all the time you can get with your kids- it disappears all too quickly.

You know... that seems like a great idea!

I have more where those came from. :lmao:

All ya gotta do is say "earmuffs"
Earmuffs.gif

We always told our kids to do the same, but added that if they didn't they'd turn into mushrooms. I know.... we're pretty sadistic.

Loved the picture from the Make a Wish walk. :thumbsup2

I did not know there was a Mickey Mouse medical instrument. Very cool!

I've been to the Keys. I don't know about any double-hubba, but they do have coffee and verandas. :smooth:

Thanks, Glenn! We had a really fun morning giving some cheer to those who have suffered so much.

I thought of all of my Wanna-Know Readers immediately when I heard the surgeon say that. See? I'm looking out for y'all.

Yes, yes. Coffee and a veranda. I'm looking forward to that. Too.

I hope you had a great Mother's Day.

I love the plans of some family time and then some "alone" time. I think it would work perfectly.

Thanks, Kathy!!! It was as perfect as perfect can be. :) And now tomorrow is Phantom!!! SQUEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I can't wait!!

Still here! :goodvibes

Thanks for sticking this out. I suppose I did warn you all that it'd be sorta "as I can" for the times school got busy. I'm in that time right now. I don't even know what I'll do with myself during the summer (except work at my new job) and study for next year. But I should be able to be here more and put some plans to the paper.

Whew, all caught up! From saving to unbelievably busy! I hear ya on the busy! I would love your job as a TA! Maybe someday as a side thing. But how cool that you get to plan things out for them to make it a picture perfect trip! So.... did your DS pass? Mine's taken it twice and I"m not sure he will anytime soon. Reading is just so hard for him. I know he'll do fine at the actual driving, but passing the written test will certainly take some doing. :(

WE have a LOT more Simulation next year, and actually count for a LOT of our grade. I am NOT looking forward to that at all! One day at a time, right??

Tuesday will actually be the day which tells me if keeping my hopes for an A alive is reasonable. If I get an 88 or above I still should be able to. We'll see.....

And you're right, the B nurses do tend to be just as awesome as the A ones. But the A ones tend to be managers... which is where I'd like to head.

I call these times "when I'm at work."

Ok, now it's really bugging me. I need to find the name of this piece!!!!

Holy cow, that's a rough start. This was really sweet, though. I thought it was funny that she made you sign it. Do you change your mind a lot or something?:rotfl2:

She is OCD/Anal to the 9's. She makes lists that are miles long that start with "get up" and end with "alphabetize books". So to have a separate signature line didn't surprise me, but did make me crack up. So no, not a matter of me changing my mind (I'm actually pretty stubborn), more a matter of her making sure she's been (overly) thorough.

Well, putting myself in his shoes, I can close my eyes and imagine that experience, and I can definitely see where one could appreciate that.

For about 30 seconds or so. Ok, now what are we gonna do?:hyper:

Same here. Sitting in a camping chair for 6 hours sounds like a little piece of hell on earth. I want to see, do, taste, smell...!!!

I love that plan! My wife and I dream of sending the kids home while we escape. Someday...

Yes, someday! And although it seems like a long way off right now, when the time does come, you'll look back and say "where did it all go?!" Savor it now! I"m in transition, and I can tell you without a doubt it's been very rough. We are a close family having only had each other for company for so long overseas that to see them go one by one has been excruiciating at times.

I'll just get jealous if you pull it all off!:rotfl:

But that's what TRs are for. And well, the invitation still stands.... you are welcome to join if you can. :)

I'm still here! I've been moving to my new house all week and I'm exhausted! I had to take a break and catch up on some of my threads.

The ER set is on the Warner Brothers Studio tour in LA. I did it with Alison and Fran last spring.

Jill in CO

Here I am again with my 20/20 eyes !! Maybe I wouldn't have torpedoed if I had my cataracts removed :rotfl2:But I don't think they could explain the Piglet lap sitting or the pole dancing:rotfl2:I am definitely planning the 2016 meet !! I will tell P & P tomorrow that the October Disney trip dates will depend on Steppesister's dates :goodvibes Wouldn't it be wonderful if Jordan could be there :bounce::bounce:. Hey I'd even fall in the bushes for that , sorry Cherie that's your trick !!!:rotfl2::rotfl2:
