I've skimmed over all the postings, but there are so many. :goodvibes Question, i learned that rooms were refurbished last August, were the BCV also refurbished?

Yes, the villas were all refurbished earlier this year. However, there is no change in the patterns/colors. Enjoy. We aren't staying at BCV this trip and although we're excited about trying THV and BLT, I know we're going to miss BCV.

we are from the uk what is a noodle and does anyone have a picture, my wife is disabled and will need some form of floatation device.

Another option would be to borrow a lifejacket from the marina. When we used to do that for our daughter, we were able to keep it for the length of our stay.

Welcome back, Teena.:grouphug:

BCV23, Just wanted to say hello.:flower3: After all the going back and forth with staying at the BCV we (the boys) ended up deciding to stay at the CR CL. Then after making the reservation, I said to my DH that I need to get the YC in while we are there. I know this was a graduation trip for our DS but hey I am paying for it. :lmao: So now we are doing a split stay with CR MKV CL first and then the BC Deluxe CL last. Although it's not my YC and I super thrilled that I will be over there. :dance3: The boys were not thrilled with staying at the BCV.:sad2: I guess it won't be so bad not being able to do laundry on a daily basis. Hey it is vacation after all, right. We are still going to use GG and have some things delivered.:hippie:

Just wanted to let you know the BC Deluxe CL room that we had was one minute away from the BC laundry. I could run and put a load in and almost be able to see when they were done from the patio! Actually a few nights I put a load in while DH had the kids in the quiet pool and we could just sit at one of the tables by the quiet pool with a drink waiting for the laundry to get done. It was sooooo convenient!

BTW WELCOME BACK TEENA!!!!

Hi!

I saw some of your posts on the CR thread so knew there had been a change of plans.:surfweb: It sounds like a great vacation....your son gets to stay at CR to celebrate and you get your Y&BC fix.:goodvibes

Maybe someday you will try BCV. My family absolutely loves it although some didn't think they would at first.:cloud9:

Anyway, happy planning for your vacation.:woohoo:

Oh Robyn, you are killing me but in a good way.:cool1: I will be calling shortly to change the request. It will make me feel a lot better to be able to do clothes while the kids and DH swim. We change twice a day when we are on vacation as we swim mostly every day. So going home with that much laundry to do makes me ill. Now you have me very excited for the patio. I know it's just a request but hopefully they will be able to fulfill it. If not than so be it. It was worth the shot. Thanks again for the great information.:flower3:

Man I thought females changed their minds a lot. These boys were driving me crazy. Only because I wanted what I wanted and they wanted what they wanted. So I figured since they got what they wanted why not do a split stay and we all get the best of both worlds.

The next time my parents join us we will do the BCV. That would make perfect sense for all around.

thanks for the taxi info, coachbagfanatic!

You are welcome.:flower3:

TeenaS - Hope all is good. Welcome back.:grouphug:

We are back from our week at the BC. We arrived at 11am 8/22 and our room was ready. We were in 2585 on the 2nd floor. I booked a standard view with no special requests. We had a full, almost double sized balacony. (We were in a corner.) The people above had a tiny balcony. I'd heard they were small, I was amazed at just how small they actually are! We also had a beautiful view of the lighthouse, Jellyrolls, Swan/Dolphin, etc. It was so peaceful and pretty. We spend alot of time here reading, drinking coffee, enjoying the view....:thumbsup2

When I checked in, he told me "2 Queen beds". Those beds were not queens, they were doubles. I have a Queen at home, so I know exactly how big a queen is. Now, it was just my dd and I so I didn't mind the doubles, however, they should not have told me they were Queens.:sad2: Even my dd said "man, these beds are small".

The size of the room was about the same (if not smaller since those resorts had actual Queens) as those we had at WL and AKL. I'd heard the BC rooms were bigger, but our's was not. We also didn't have a daybed.

We were comfortable. The resort is beautiful. The pool is beautiful. My dd did not like the slide since it was covered much of the way. We did not have long waits for the buses. Coming home on them was hard as often we didn't get seats & the BC was the 4th stop. Paying so much money to stay here and then having 5 large resorts share buses is just wrong.:sad2:

The double bed thing would have bothered me, a lot! We are used to a king bed and going to a double would be quite a transition! I still think it is goofy that they still have doubles at any of the deluxe resorts! And, yikes I didn't realize the transportation situation. I'll be at YC over Christmas so I imagine I will have that to look forward to as well :scared1: Sounds like you made the most of it though and still eeked out a pretty nice trip :thumbsup2 Thanks for posting the review/info!

The Scavenger Hunt is held by Recreation. In July and August it was held on Sunday afternoons. It will be listed on the monthly recreation guide that you get from the front desk or concierge desk. It starts and ends at SAB.

Only on Sundays? Darn.
I expect to be there for a 9:00 Wed morning Cape May Character Breakfast.
Any suggestions of activities for the kids while we're there exploring?
If there's no Scavenger Hunt, the only thing I can think of is the Lafferty Arcade.
You guys are the BC/YC pros - what are your suggestions?

We just returned last week from our trip to Disney. I want to thank everyone on the forum for the information regarding the Beach & Yacht Club. I read the forum daily before our trip.
We stayed at the Beach Club 15 years ago and I really wanted to stay there again. After having a difficult time making breakfast and dinner reservations, we decided to upgrate to the CL floor to ensure the teenagers would be able to eat! The beach club CL floor was closed when we were going so we switched to the Yacht Club. We loved the Yacht Club! One week before we left I ordered a case of water from Costco. We are not members. The water cost me $8 from Costco plus the conference center charged me $10. We walked over and picked it up, I was told they would deliver it, but we would have to be in the room. Not wanting to wait around, we walked over to get it. Which was not a problem. When we asked for directions, one of the bell hops offered to get it for us, but we decided to just get it ourselves. As I drink water 24/7 I was happy to have the water bottles in the room.
Four days before we left, I followed the information on another disney forum and sent a fax room request to the yacht club room assigner. We had booked what was described as a "Garden View" room on the disney website. I had heard that some of the better garden view rooms overlook the wedding gazebo so that is where I requested a room. I also said in my fax that any garden view in one of the courtyards in the rear of the hotel or anything the room assignor could do to ensure we had a wonderful vacation. I did not do online checkin as we were staying club level I did not feel we would need it. Well I could not believe when we checked in and the conceirce said we had been upgraded to waterview and also given a room with a day bed. I was shocked by both as I had read on the forums that you are not usually upgraded if you are staying 7 nights and usually the day beds are given to families of 5. We are a family of four. The CL said we were given the day bed room as we had two teenagers, one boy and one girl. We arrived at the hotel around 1:30 and had to wait about 45 minutes for our room. We had a quick bit to eat at the pool while we waited! Our room was wonderful (5177). I think the room was right next to test track boys room from the pictures that he took. Our room was right above the back walkway into the hotel, straight in from the light house. The view was great. We could see the fireworks at EPCOT from the balcony.
Being an early riser I loved the CL lounge for the morning. It was great to just walk down the hallway to the lounge and grab coffee and read the paper or watch the news until DH and children woke up.
The CL staff were great. The lounge staff always wanted to help you. If you were looking for something well they were closed they would go and get it for you from the back. When they were closed they had sodas on ice and fruit out in the hallway. Not being a soda drinker I wished they had water bottles. I did see them give a couple of people a glass water bottle to take to their room. I also saw them give someone who ask wine at about 2 o'clock in the afternoon.
The evening appetizers were good the two nights that we were there for them. With the early dinner reservation we got (a couple around 5:30) we were not able to enjoy them more. I felt like the wine and appetizers should have started earlier.
I tried really hard to get dinner reservations at Cape May for the buffet and was able to one night. I was really disappointed by that experience. We were given a table at what I would describe as the overflow room. It was like a back closet with about 8 tables and no windows. It really ruined the experience. With all of the information that disney collects about their guest I felt that we should have been given a better table and there were plenty of tables of 4 available when we were seated. The food was nothing to write home about.
The buses from the yacht/beach club can be a challenge. Sometimes you get lucky and sometimes you don't. One time we tried to go to Tyhoon Lagoon, but after the 3rd Blizzard Beach bus we decided to go to BLizzard Beach as we had been waiting for over a half hour. I don't think they should have 5 hotels on one bus route. I noticed that the hotels near the Magic Kingdom only had two hotels on each bus.
The walk to EPCOT was great. We had dinner at LeCellier, Italy and Moracco. LeCellier was by far the best. We did some of the EPCOT rides in the evening after dinner, but decided to go to EPCOT the last morning (magical express picked us up at noon). We were able to go to most of the rides (test track, imagination, soaring and star wars) in under 2 hours. EPCOT was empy that morning. We grabbed a quick lunch at Hurricane Hannahs and were off to the airport.

Thanks again for all of the information.

Hi Y&B Buddies,

It's good to be back. What a crazy time helping the daughter with her classroom. This year's kids are super and so full of questions about my friends, Mickey, Donald, Stitch, etc. Although I just can't understand why she loves living in the desert. It's so so so hot and I'm sick of her saying, "But Mom, it's dry heat, not the same as heat with humidity." 115 degrees, dry or not dry, is too hot!!!

I feel your pain about the double beds. Like I said many times before, lots of the CMs that work there aren't even aware there are double beds in some of the smaller rooms ... some of the new managers aren't even aware of it. However, I heard that our GM is doing her darnest to get rid of them and put different bedding in those rooms. We are all keeping our fingers crossed!! Personally, I'd love to go a round with the architect of the BC. There are so many different room sizes (thus the reason some brainaic decided to put doubles in the smaller rooms) and the standing balconies and some of the views ... ugh. But all in all, it's a wonderful resort and rest assured, we do our very best to try and make everybody's vacation as good as humanly possible, even with the balcony and bed problems. But how does everybody like those mattresses since the rehab? Aren't they heavenly?

I also agree with the sharing of the buses. When we last stayed at the GF before we retired and moved to Florida, we had the same complaint. The bus then stopped at 3 other resorts before it got to the GF. Are you kidding me? I'm a letter writer and I truly believe you should write letters to Guest Communications about your feelings on the double beds, buses, etc. You should also write about the "good" stuff at the BC too!

I met some wonderful Disers this past Sunday and Monday and I can't wait to meet more of you soon! I'm working next Sunday and Monday (13th and 14th) and then Bob and I are off with some Disney friends on the Disney Magic for 7 nights. We leave on 9/19 and I'll be back to work again on the 27th and 28th. I absolutely love my retirement, lots of Disney cruises and working part-time at the BC, doesn't get much better than that.

We're doing Food & Wine with Disney friends from Pennsylvania on 10/2 so keep an eye out at Epcot that day - I love to hear what everybody likes food and drink wise at F&W. And of course, we'll be having dinner at Cape May that night. Sure hope I get to see some of you that day too!!

See you all in the BC lobby on Sunday and Monday!!!

Good to have you back Teena! Sounds like you have some wonderful visits and travel to look forward to!

I wanted to tell you a silly story... I have been reading the various things posted on here to my family. I think it was before the new thread was created but YC was referred to as the 'dark side'. DS was so excited he jumped right off the floor as he thought it was a Darth Vader resort! I did explain to him it wasn't but I had to laugh to myself...

DS starts first grade at his new Montessori school tomorrow - he is so excited, I hope he actually sleeps tonight :)

That's great to hear that he's excited about school!!!

I really shouldn't call the YC the "dark side". Some of my leaders shake their heads at me when they schedule me over there once in a while and I go "oh no, the dark side". I just think of it that way. I'm sorry your DS son will be disappointed that it's not a Darth Vader resort but at least he'll be near the Studios where he can get his Star Wars excitement!

Thanks!! Im one of those to stay at each WDW Resort :yay: It will take a while though. BLT was awesome!

Well I was SO excited about our upcoming trip to Disney & staying at the gorgeous BC, but now seeing that some rooms are smaller AND have only double beds AND no balcony plus lousy bus service. I'm 2nd guessing my choice...

I really like the Epcot area/walking to the park and SAB is a huge factor in our decision to stay here, but is it worth the things I mentioned above? I'm starting to get overwhelmed and a lil depressed about my whole Disney trip. It's our families 1st time and there are just so many choices.

I'm sure the room will prob be fine and everything, but just feeling a lil let-down or something, I don't know??? I need to "re-calibrate" my thinking and get on the other side of this...the adjusment is with me, my expectations and just being grateful---grateful in a HUGE way for so many, many things!

We're the type of family that can't even decide on a place to go out to dinner, so planning this trip has been a lil trying. ;) Well, only a lil more than 3 weeks left til we're at Disney!!! I'm sure we'll have a blast! :cool1:

Oh, yes, we sure had a nice trip. It was just my 10yo dd & myself. If we stayed here again (I like to try lots of resorts), I'd be very happy to be put in this room again, especially since I paid for a standard view. I think a couple, plus a child would be tight.

Yep, we were in room 5179. When did you check out? I might have seen you in passing then. Glad to hear your enjoyed your stay on the CL. We had an excellent time as felt that all the Cast Members on the floor treated us very well.

Well, darn! Teena, I've been looking forward to getting to meet you, but we arrive on Tuesday, the 16th, and leave on Saturday the 26th, so it looks like we'll just be missing you on both our arrival and departure days :sad2: LMK if your schedule changes...I would still love to meet you in person, if I can! If not, hope you have a great cruise with Bob! Maybe next year...
