Tonight I thought wed be savaged by the 70s but instead it was a partially brilliant, partially boring event. Heres my take on the top 10 guys.
Michael Johns Looking back, I always felt I didnt remember much about the 70s. Getting married, having kids sort of sucks all that out of you. But this group managed to find some of my favorite songs and his choice of Go Your Own Way was one of them. He had a rather shaky start. Shaky as in his voice was shaking. Was it nerves or just a lack of ability? I think it was the latter. He also changed the tempo which didnt work for me at all. Im another one who does not see what all the Hoo Haa is about this guy. I gave him a
6.
Jason Castro I Just Want To Be Your Everything. Aww, hes just such a cutie. I thought the guitar player was unnecessary tonight and agreed with the judges that it would be nice to see him sing on his own. Still it was a good performance. He gets a
7.
Luke Menard Killer Queen Im not sure what the judges were listening to but I loved his rendition. Great voice and good stage presence. Simon was a real twit, not only to Luke but a few others. Is he not getting enough sleep? Anyway, like I said, I loved it and he gets a
9.
Robbie Carrico Hot Blooded Eh, it was OK and I really like this song but his performance just didnt do it for me. He gets a
6.
Danny Noreiga Karen Carpenter Song .. Long Ago? Very weak performance, I found his voice to be just plain boring. I think his run should be over after this presentation. He got a
4.
David Hernandez Papa Was A Rollin Stone I was actually cheering for him like a preteen girl. This has always been a favorite of mine and his performance was amazing. Loved his voice, loved his stage presence and he sold this song all the way. David gets the first of three 10s for the night
10+.
Jason Yeager Without Love Probably one of my top five 70s songs by the original Doobie Brother but not by this guy. There were parts of the song that he was speaking more than singing. Another thing is his voice has a real nasal twang to it that drives me nuts. He got a
5 and most of that was because I like that song so much.
Chikesie I Believe To My Soul I made no secret last week that I felt he should have been on his way home but after last nights performance, I take it all back. It was a great performance and he just seemed like a totally different performer. He also had the best line of the night when he said Simon was the only person who would wear the same outfit twice. I loved it all and he got a
10.
David Cook All Right Now I dont really know if I like this guy or not. His voice is OK, really better than just OK and his guitar playing ability was impressive but he just doesnt MOVE me. Add on to that the whiney comments after he sang and I was less than pleased. He got a
7 and most of that was for the guitar playing.
David Archuleta Imagine Imagine this show was over tonight. David would be the winner. Seriously, whats not to like about this kid? Hes adorable. Girls want to marry him, mature women want to adopt him. He seems like a really nice person. And lastly, he has the voice of an angel. I was worried when I saw he was doing a John Lennon song but it was magnificent. I actually had goosebumps and, hey, he made Paula cry. So what else could you give someone who does those things? He got a
10+.
Who I voted for:

David Hernandez
