I know someone else mentioned that Taylor, Ruben and Katharine were all dropped by their labels this week, but Ryan Seacrest said on Entertainment Tonight that Fantasia was dropped as well. She has also left The Color Purple which she has been doing on Broadway.

I guess Carrie and Kelly are the only winners that are truly successful. Maybe you are better off not winning! Look at Daughtry and Elliott Yamin...

Exactly! Even Clay did really well and he's in Spamalot on Broadway now. Plus Jennifer Hudson won an Oscar... you can't beat that!

Catching up from another board, Taylor leaving was a mutual decision. He wasn't dropped. This was posted on his myspace:

To all my fans and The Soul Patrol, I want to take a moment to talk about the recent news that my label and I have mutually parted ways. The important thing for all of you to remember is that I've been a working musician my whole life. This is turning the page on a new chapter of my career. Artistic freedom and control is an exciting prospect. The things that are most important to me is creating my art, performing it, and my fans. With the momentum that all of you have created over the years, Taylor Hicks is not going to stop anytime soon. I've started working on the new album, writing and scheduling exciting collaborations. The DVD, Whomp at the Warfield, is in it's final stages, and will be released soon. So as one door closes, a new one opens for 2008 with more excitement for all my fans than ever before. Sit tight, because the best is yet to come!

Yeah, I got suspicious the season that the mother of "Princess P"scared: ) was mentioned ALL THE TIME in episode after episode (YEAH RANDY WE HEARD YOU THE FIRST TIME) and it all as if my accident...suurrrrrrrrrre. Reading the news about this season...I might actually Vote for the Worst and stick it to AI.

The last two years, I really followed the show especially the Taylor Hicks/Katherine McPhee season. But this year? Eh, I'll probably watch my old TV shows on DVD...mmmmmm, Twilight Zone (Seasons 1/2/3/4), all of the Stargate SG:1s, the complete Star Trek:Next Generation...

That stinks. Sounds like it's turning into "Survivor". They used to cast the average Joes who submitted audition tapes; now they cast people who usually already have managers. Have you seen this season's "fan" tribe? Almost all of them look like actors/models. There was one guy a few seasons ago who said he auditioned for another reality show, but was cast for Survivor. That really bums me out. I like watching the people who are there because they're fans of the show, not because they hope to be discovered.

Here's hoping AI isn't going to be another stinkfest like last season. (just my opinion)

Me too. Last season was just bad, bad. I'm looking forward to the Hollywood week, that's usually the most interesting time I think. I don't really like seeing all the bad singers that'll be on the next couple of weeks. Oh well, I guess I'll suffer thru!

Thanks for the link! I had no idea that Tenia Taylor was on season 1 of AI. I HATE her. Ugh. Her and her mom are on Crowned and they're both... disgusting. They're just not nice people and get me annoyed during every single episode

Abd Jared Cotter from last season is a co-host of The Sauce on Fuse. I love that show!

Oh yeah, I watch that show too. Her and her mom are awful! I had no idea she was on AI. The apple definitely doesn't fall far from the tree with them.
I couldn't believe when they were making fun of the mom/daughter that lost their house and didn't have much money. That was just waaayyy low.

I was no fan of Taylor, but I am surprised his album did so poorly with all the fans he had. Maybe he will do better with that record company.

I enjoyed Taylor Hicks on the show. As far as his album goes, never heard anything off it on the radio so that's why I didn't buy it.

Daughtry was the real winner Season 5, with Billboard's top selling album of 2007 and he just one a People's Choice award last night.

Yes he was! All the folks here got into a major tizzy when he got voted off! He's from near where I live (about a half-hour away). He did a free show in downtown Greensboro, NC, that I went to and enjoyed. Then he did two shows at the Greensboro Coliseum (they started with one but it sold out so quickly, he scheduled another the next night) but didn't go to it. Now debating on seeing him again as he's NOW OPENING FOR BON JOVI'S US DATES!!!!

I usually don't start watching Idol until Hollywood week (I get tired of watching all the bad ones), but they're in Philly tonight, so I'm hoping for some hometown folks from the First State to move on. So far, one guy from Delaware has made it.

Hopefully this year will prove a little more exciting than last (speaking of which, when is Melinda Doolittle gonna get that record deal?).
