Anyone else think the Princess Leia girl might be an aspie? She showed a lot of the characteristics, including not making much eye contact...

Strange bunch....and so it begins again!

SUBSCRIBING...Is this the official thread...as my usual standards...I love the girl who sold her horse and did cage fighting....My early favorite

DolphinDan - I actually agree with you. She's got the looks and she can sing.

BTW, I know you were changing your signature all around last season, so it's nice to see Evangeline Lilly still in your sig... ;)

what's an aspie?

I thought last night was ok, liked the guy who lost all the weight and I felt so bad for temptress. I wanted her to do well. I was glad they at least were human with her.

I assume an "aspie" is slang for someone with Asperger's Syndrome. FYI, it is not a term of endearment and should not be used (off the soapbox).

:woohoo: YAY! Season 7 looks promising so far. While it pains me to agree with dolphindan ;) , I do agree about the cage fighting chick. I liked her a lot. She has the looks, the attitude, and the voice (which sounds like it has room to learn and grow). Though I was somewhat horrified that she sold her horse to make it  . Though I understand and respect her for doin it. This must mean everything to her to have done that.

I also like the VERY first guy. He's definitely got the chops and is a cutie with room for his image to learn and grow.:thumbsup2

Lastly I liked the nanny who never watched an R movie. Wholesome and sweet with a nice voice.princess:

I liked that they weren't focusing solely on the lunatics this time. I personally like seeing the people who were just ok or on the fringe but not quite good enough and I like seeing the ones who actually make it through to Hollywood. How else am I suppose to form a "relationship" with the contestants if they don't show them/focus on the ones I'll be seeing?

Philly-area people, help settle a debate with DH and I. They loaded the people in the Wachovia center, but the auditions weren't actually taking place there, were they? When they showed the outside of the building, just a few shots, it looked like an entirely different location. I know the W Center pretty well, but those outside shots looked like someplace else.

It was probably being used as a holding-area (the Wachovia Center) and the auditions were held at a hotel next door or very close by.

I was surprised to see how many people flew in from the west.

Next week is Texas. Wouldn't Texas be closer to CA/OR than PA?

LOVED the nanny, and I loved watching her interact with those PRECIOUS twins. Didn't like Simon making fun of her for never seeing an R rated movie.

I hope Angela makes it to the end. Her daughter was so sweet, and the love and commitment from her family really put a lump in my throat. I was glad she could really sing, adn I hope she makes it! For her daughter's sake.

Chris (with the dreadlocks)...WHAT A CUTIE!!!

Time will tell, but I am thinking the producers realized they made a mistake last year by not showing us the winners in the Gong Show rounds. By the semi-finals, we didn't know who anyone was, really. Last night, we got to meet a lot of hollywood's.

Yeah I was thinking that too. Of course who knows - I live closer to Buffalo than to Orlando, but its a lot cheaper to fly to Orlando. Also maybe some people just couldn't get off work to attend the closer auditions or something.
I wish they had shown more local talented people. Maybe they did and I just missed that they were local.

I'll say one thing...AI audition shows are really a good advertisment for DVR or Tivo. I DVR'ed it and the 2 hour show took me about 45 minutes to watch.

I felt sooooooooooo bad for Temptress (the football player girl) it was just awful when she was just standing there with tears running down her face, I was so glad they were so nice to her.

I laughed my head off when Simon said "Weird Sparkly Vet Girl" reminded him of William DeFoe. After they showed her again I could see he was absolutely right. She was really out there.

I liked the first guy who lost all the weight, the girl who sold her horse, did cage fighting and the one guy who sang in Spanish? Italian? he had a great voice. The only thing about the cage fighting girl is that she reminds me of Carrie Underwood...and I like Carrie, but I can't see another pretty blonde country girl winning. it's way early yet though, so we shall see.

Great first night of auditions. :happytv:

I really like them showing more of the people that they put through.

The guy who wrote the song for Paula - can you say STALKER - he freaked me out. :scared1:

Can't wait to see the auditions from Dallas tonight.

Hey strangers. Haven't been Dissing much lately, but of course I HAD to come back by for a little Idolatry. :teeth:

Couple things, since this is my first post to this thread:

- RE: the article from VFTW...Personally, I couldn't care less what the idiots have to say. They go out of their way to try to ruin the show - see: Sanjaya - so they lose any right to complain about how the show is run.

- That said, I like how last night's show was done. I think they served notice by airing a qualifier as the very first audition. Frankly, I hope the VFTW article is right and the producers ARE stacking the deck...'cause that means that the people that actually get into the top 24 will have some real talent, instead of...well, see: Sanjaya.

- Early favorites were pretty much the same as everyone else. The "Amazing Grace" girl from Oregon was just awesome.

- The psycho chick that flipped out should NEVER have been shown. Didn't anyone notice how polite and friendly she was in the room, thanking them for their advice? Then, immediately upon exiting, she turns nasty? That wasn't real, it was nothing more than an act, and a bad one at that.

- Let my pipple...gooooo. :rotfl:

Looking forward to this season, as it seems to be off to a good start. Here's hoping they can keep it going!

I couldn't help but laugh when Randy was cracking up behind the paper when the guy with the low voice was singing, "Go Down Moses". I had William Hung flashbacks! :lmao:

That was a riot! He said the people he worked with encouraged him to try out and he wouldn't be there without them. WTH? It all must have been a joke that went terribly wrong! :happytv:

You can say that again. I could not get over the amount of commercials. I guess they have to show the commercials for all the shows that aren't on, because of the strike:confused3

WOW! What a laugh-a-thon last night!:lmao: Hope at least a "few" of the Good Philly people go thru to the 2nd and 3rd rounds. Last year, NONE of my favorites from the Auditions were put thru.:confused3

Did he just say "simon always goes down on everybody"?:rotfl:
