Why does it have to be 12 girls and 12 guys....why not the 24 best....if its 20 girls and 4 boys so be it....never understood that

What does everyone think of the top 24? Some of them I don't think I have even heard sing yet... they didn't even look familiar.

They do this every year! They get us all riled up with long stories about people who don't make it (the single Mom with the disabled child and lost her father, Drew the farmer and Josiah... ugh) and we know NOTHING about some of the ones who went through. Every year there is a bunch of people who we have NO CLUE who they are and when it's time to vote they don't come to mind.

Like I said before, I think they put deliberately expendable people on to hype up their plants. I actually only like ONE of this group, kind of like 2 others, could care less about most of them and outright cannot STAND a few. Hopefully they change my opinion of them.

I happy about most and disappointed by two.

I don't care for Carly and feel like she's getting a free pass to the finals for some reason. Her voice is good but not exceptional and she's a bit of a screamer. Be that as it may, she probably does belong in the top 24 but the judges all out praise is really rubbing me the wrong way.

Kyle not making it made me Whether or not he deserved it we don't really know because at least 4 of the guys who did make it got little to no air time prior to last night.

I'm very happy to see Amanda, Brooke, Syesha, Asia'h, Michael Johns, Chacizi (sp?) and especially David A. in the top group. This is looking to be a really good season!

I think I'm the only one not crazy about the paralyzed vocal cord kid! (Sorry, I am not good with the names.) I get distracted when when he takes a breath in and you can hear that whistle noise in his throat. Am I crazy? Does no one else hear it? Last night I found myself listening for that.

Add me to the list of Michael Johns fans! Wow! And I'm not even a Doors fan.

I did notice his breathing. That is a pet peeve of mine. But, you hear it everyday on the radio.

Some of these people are forgettable, it looks like they're doing it on purpose again.

That sucks. I was wondering why they had random people that got through.

Oh right NO ONE! since she is shoved down our throats repeatedly. It irks me that some of the top 24 got no air time but we heard her "no work visa" story - what 3 times?

Maybe this is the reason for all the blue tongues? Do they play the harmonica?

What are you guys talking about with Carly?? I have never felt that they were shoving her down my throat. Frankly (though I liked him), I was starting to feel like they were shoving Josiah down my throat.

I don't generally read the stuff about contestants in the media, or the blogs, or the spoilers or even the official website. All I know is what I see on the show, and so far I have no complaints about the way it's going. But that's just me.

I was really hoping that they would of showed us the rest of the top 24 performing last night but they didn't, they just showed the same people over and over. There were several guys that I never even heard of and POW they are in the top 24. Now I'm impatiently waiting for next week so I can FINALLY hear those that they didn't give any air time to.

I was almost ticked off that AI kept showing poor Josiah - they surely gave him more air time than anyone during Hollywood week and then they cut him......I hope maybe someone saw him that can help him with his dream. I've read that his mother is dying of cancer and he's in a hurry to make her proud of him - so sad.

David Archuleta!! He's my favorite so far. I hope he goes all the way in the competition: he's cute, has a great voice, and has zero ego. Amazing for a 16-year-old! I think he'll be a huge favorite with the young girl voters...and us old ones too.

I felt bad for Josiah. He had a quirkiness about him, kinda like JPL (Jon Peter Lewis) from a few seasons ago.
