Thank you for your replies! I know people sometimes will disregard the non-smoking rule but I would rather take a chance on a room that was always designated as a non-smoking room that maybe had a smoker or two in it, then a room that was used on a consistant basis as a smoking room. Sorry if this seems redundant just trying to make sure you understand where I'm coming from. Through research I think building 5 used to be designated as a Non-smoking building!

As for never smoked in rooms unfortunately no matter what the CM says, you can't know whether or not it's been smoked in until you're in the room and check for yourself (I've seen or smelled people smoking in designated non-smoking rooms before).

All the more important to work with the hotel directly, and not a CM vacation rep on the phone. The hotel staff will have a much better history of their rooms, incidents, etc..

When we made a room request (parents with bum knees), you can tell that the hotel carefully picked our room to minimize walking. The general Phone CMs just can't do that for you.

Thank you for your reply. I will be calling the resort directly before our arrival and hopefully we will get our request!:goodvibes

Thank you for all your replies regarding the bus service for POFQ, we made our ressies for November and are looking forward to staying there.

Regarding the non-smoking rooms, according to last year's Passporter, builings 2 and 6 of POFQ were smoking and buldings 18 and 39 of POR were smoking. Don't know if this helps but I though I'd throw it out there for what it's worth.

Thanks again for everyone's input on this thread, it's really helpful! :disrocks:

I have searched the internet and can't find the answer to this. Can anybody tell me roughly what time the last bus from Downtown Disney to POFQ is?

We are staying there in September 08 and my daughter and her boyfriend are likely to go out to Pleasure Island and will probably stay out late. Alternatively is it easy to get a taxi at Downtown Disney about 2:00 a.m.

Thanks

If I remember right, the last bus leaves around 2 am. At least it was in 2005, it could have changed since then.

Hi, we are off to POFQ for the first time in March, can't wait!

Can someone tell me - is there a bar at POFQ, or would we have to go to POR?

Thanks!

Yes there is a jazz bar at POFQ called Scat Cats.

In our experience, unless you're "hiding under a rock" for hours, Disney buses don't leave you stranded. We missed "last buses" from parks, and there was always a CM who asked "where you going?", got on a radio, and a bus pulled up.

Thanks that is really useful to know.

Hello all,
My family and I are staying at the POFQ in Sept!!! Does anyone know what building(s) are the water view rooms? Is this true that you can see the fireworks from Epcot at the water view rooms?
Thanks, Dan

There's no such thing as an entire building comprised of water view rooms. Here's a link to a map: http://www.wdwinfo.com/resortmaps/portorleans.jpg

Also, when you reserve and pay extra for a water view room, you have no control over whether it will be a view of the Sassagoula River (a decent-looking creek-sized man-made waterway) or of POFQ's pool. You could always REQUEST which view you want, but there's no way to reserve what type of water view you will ultimately receive.

Some parts of Buildings 2 and 5 have a view of the pool, and some parts of those same buildings have views of the river. Some parts of Buildings 1, 6 and 7 also have river views.

As for seeing IllumiNations ....

The rooms facing the river face the wrong direction. The Building 2 rooms facing the pool face the wrong direction. Some of the Building 5 3rd floor rooms MIGHT have a view of some of the higher IllumiNations fireworks. To see any of those fireworks, the room must be high up (I don't even know if you can see them from second floor rooms), must face south, and must not have an obstruction such as another building nearby. In other words, it's not a lot of rooms.

We were at the bus stop during Illuminations one night. We could see some of the higher fireworks and hear the music too.

Bump, Bumpity Bump!

We're booked for POFQ May 10-16th!!! I can't wait. We booked standard view and requested garden view, but that's not guarateed. Maybe I should have just requested a building instead, even though I know that's not guaranteed either. :confused3

Oh well, We're going to Disney World!!! As long as I don't have to sleep outside on the lawn, I'm o.k.

Are you saying that a parking lot view would ruin your enjoyment, but you don't want to pay for a water view? Request buildings 2, 5 or 6. Although some of the rooms in each of those are water view rooms, some are not, and NONE of the rooms in those buildings have a parking lot view.

About half of the rooms in 2 and 5 are water view, and many fewer than half of the rooms in building 6 are water view ... in other words, it shouldn't be a problem.

A parking lot view wouldn't completely bum me out if that's all they had left. It's not like cars are sitting right outside your window like at a Days Inn or something. When I made the reservations, she asked if I preferred a specific view like courtyard or garden and I chose garden at the time. Now I'm thinking I should have asked for a specific building that had a standard room IF available.

Thank you for the buildings. I'll call and change my request to a specific building and see where that takes us.

No, I didn't want to pay for a water view because I wanted more money to spend on food. It's $135.00 bucks towards a nice sit down meal. Another reason we didn't book at the WL, was spending money for food and souvies.
