I just booked POFQ for Oct 08! This will be our first time not staying in values. I am so excited! I called to change our dates from april to Oct and CRO was able to save me 400 on airfare so I upgraded for ASMU and added another day! WHOO HOO!

I just thought I would share my news and bump this thread up a little bit.

Shellie

Very exciting! :cool1: You are going to LOVE POFQ, we stayed there for the first time (see my review in my signature with lots of POFQ pics) for the first time and LOVED it!!! We had stayed at POP and the WL previously and we stepped down from WL to POFQ and weren't disappointed at all, absolutely loved it! Have a great trip!

Just got back from the fq--we loved it. :thumbsup2 Rooms were always cleaned, food was good (just wish there where more choices, like the pop, but thats o.k.) buses were fine. Kids loved the pool. One thing that we really liked and I know it's a small thing was the rooms had a ceiling fan!! I can't stand to be in a motel room and the AC is so loud you can't sleep, but with the ceiling fan it provided enough air circulation in the room. Check in went great too!! We will stay there again!!

Two pool-related questions...

Is the pool heated?
Are there "pool towels" available near the pool or are you expected to bring your towels from your room?

I know that it can be chilly in February, but there is NO WAY that DS and DD are going to walk past that superfun-looking pool without wanting to jump in, so unless it's freezing, it's everyone in the pool!

We are SO excited for POFQ and WDW! DW and I stayed at POFQ in February 2003 in our pre-kid life, and we can't wait to share WDW with the kids!

Last time we were at POFQ (Dec 06) there was a huge bin of towels for the pool right at the pool, so you did not need to bring them from the room. We were also told the pool was heated, but we found it on the cool side. DH says the life guard told him the heater was not working well, so that could be the reason. Still a great pool for a swim though!

Question for any previous POFQ visitors. Have you had a grocery order delivered from wegoshop.com at all? I am planning to use them in two short weeks and just wondered how things went. Thanks for sharing!!

Suz

Sorry, but the Pool is going to be closed in February for refurbishment. :sad1:

Sad but true, the pool will be closed. But you are allowed to pool hop to POR, which has a great pool of its own plus quiet pools. Weather in Feb is anybody's guess it could be in the 80's or in the 40's. I'd prepare for both, but that's me. I over pack, it must have something to do with having boy scouts (always be prepared).

That's funny that was one of our favorite things too. We have a ceiling fan at home and use it all year it helped is sleep.

Does anyone know when the pool is going to reopen?

We used wegoshop and were very happy with their service. Our items were delivered on the agreed time and he unpacked it all for us. They called us when they arived so we were in the room ready for them.
We have used them several times, twice at POFQ and once at WL, very happy each time.
I liked that we could be specific with each item and not have to order from a list.

Thanks Bev J, I appreciate your information. I have left a message with wegoshop to set up an appointment. Just need to pick our time!

Happy New Year!

Can anyone confirm for me that there is a toaster and microwave for everyone's use at the food court in POFQ?

Thank you, Suz

OK, I have just recovered from my several-day-long depression after learning that the POFQ pool will be closed during our Feb 08 trip, and now I'm very excited to say that we'll be there in one month! :cool1:

Regarding the pool situation, we'll just go to POR if it's warm enough to swim, and to the kids, it will be just another "place to go" and we'll make it a mini-adventure to walk over to POR and Old Man Island.

Now for my question...do the TVs in the rooms have any special "Disney Movie" channels, or is it the regular Disney Channel you get at home? We're trying to decide if we might want to bring a DVD player for the room, but if there's special programming, perhaps we don't need to.

Thanks, POFQ DISers!

Some DISers have reported that by punching in 94 or 96 or 98 on the remote control they get Disney cartoons, but this is not so at POFQ and some other resorts. We tried it last Sept. and got nothing.

You can see a list of available resort TV channels by going to http://allearsnet.com/acc/resort_tv.htm on AllEars.

It is a good thing I looked at this thread! I had no idea that the pool at PO-FQ is going to be closed during our stay!

What an incredible bummer. :(

If I can talk my DH into it, I'm going to switch resorts. The weather may not be warm for swimming, but if it is, going all the way to Riverside just to swim is going to totally stink! (I've stayed in both resorts in the past. Believe me--it's no small matter. And I just know that Disney isn't going to compensate their guests for having no pool. To say we can use Riverside's pools is an insult--we're entitled to use their pools anyway.)

A question, though. If Doubloon Lagoon (or whatever it's called) is closed, does that mean the hot tub will be down too?

Man, this is a HUGE disappointment!

Lureen, I feel your pain. When I first heard that the pool (and I'm guessing the hot tub, too) was closing, I felt completely blindsided. A week later, I feel a little better about it, but it's still a bummer. :sad1:

Has anyone actually confirmed that the Hot Tub will also be closed??

I wouldn't see why the hot tub would be closed since they are not next to each other. The hot tub is on the other side of the bar.

I had old Disney cartoons on channel 96 last week...but family members in rooms next to me did not. The cartoons were always the same few.

The word that we got from a CM on Jan.01.2008 -- the pool will be closed and the pool bar (Mardi Grogs) will also be closed since the dust and dirt from refurbishing the pool will make it difficult if not impossible to operate Mardi Grogs. The hot tub is not predicted to be closed b/c it isn't as close to the main pool.
