Just chiming in. We are staying at POFQ for 5 nights in December at Christmas. This will be our first stay here and it sounds like we will love it.

I really enjoyed our Christmas time stay last year. The grounds are very pretty, I have some pics in my siggy if you wanted to take a sneak peek. :goodvibes

I read in a thread somewhere today that there is construction/remodeling going on rifght now @ POFQ...building 4. Of course that's the building I have requested when we get there this coming Sunday. ( I might not get my request, though ). Does anyone know exactly what kind of work is being done? :confused3

I'm here right now, looking at our TV and there is quite a bit of ports on the back for plugging various things in, so I'm gonna say yes. If you'd like, I can take a picture of it and post it for you (?) There's also ports on the front for what looks like maybe a video recorder hook up.
Oh that would be awesome! Thanks! That way I can show it to DH and he'll know exactly how crazy I am, er I mean, exactly what to bring! lol. (He will think I'm nuts when I show him a picture of the TV ports in the rooms! lol)
But yes! PLEASE!

We used our portable DVD player with the TV when we went in Sept last year for Granddaughters movies. It worked fine. :sunny:

I hope not. My sister and I will be at POFQ in 10 days and counting. Can hardly wait. :yay: :dance3: :bounce: :woohoo:

Okay here we go (btw, the DF thinks I'm nuts photographing the back of the TV) :rotfl: Please excuse my finger in the corner ... it was hard to photograph the back from a good angle.

And just in case, here's the front, too:

When we were there last month (8/19-8/29), there was "construction/remodeling" going on in all the rooms around us (bldg 5). I couldn't tell exactly what they were doing, but it couldn't have been much because it wasn't loud or obtrusive, and when I peeked in the rooms after they were finished they looked exactly the same as our room. I'm guessing a new coat of paint and maybe carpet cleaning? My dh slept in every morning until 10 or 11, and he said he was never bothered by the work. In fact, he said he didn't think they even started working until at least 10 each day.

Personally, I loved being in the middle of the work zone. They went home at 5:00, so it was always really quiet at night. We didn't have to listen to other people coming and going and (more importantly) I didn't worry as much about how loud my kids were late at night. When they finished and actual guests moved in for the last couple of days of our trip, I kind of felt like I lost my own private resort.

I was there in 2004 when they just refurbished the entire resort (they closed the whole resort) and stayed in building 4 I can't imagine they would be doing anything to extensive, maybe some painting?

KelsiesMommy:
I would suggest either building 2,3,5. The resort is so small all the buildings are within easy walking distance to everything. Last time we were there we were in building 3 it was only a 1-2 min. walk to everything. It's a beautiful resort you made a good choice!! Have fun planning!! :wave2:

Thanks for sharing. I loved the sneak peak for what it will look like.

About how long should we plan to wait in line to get breakfast? Are there better times to go than others?

A friend told us that the waits for breakfast at the resorts are crazy unless you go super early. Is this true?

We're going to be at POFQ Oct. 28 - Nov. 4. Not a typically busy time. We were planning to get to the foodcourt around 7:45-8am. We would be ordering hot foods like pancakes and eggs.

It's funny that all the websites and books have exact and precise waiting times for attractions but none for the basics like food. ;)

TIA!

Good question. We will be there about the same time (11/1-11/6) and have roughly the same plan...of course, so do the thousand other guests probably! So it'll be packed.

Just subscribing to this thread and wanted to thank everyone for the awesome info here! We'll be going Dec. 2 - 10 and we're so excited!! :yay: This will only be our second time staying on site, the first was at POP, which we really enjoyed, but I loved the look of POFQ and we wanted to try a moderate this time. This will also be our first visit during the Christmas season, and we're all looking forward to some Disney Christmas magic! :santa:

I'm pretty certain I've made a good resort choice, my only worry is that we'll be there during Pop Warner week, which until recently, I had never heard of before. I understand the kids pretty much take over the values, but what about the moderates? Will this be a concern at POFQ? I'd be interested to hear from anyone who has stayed at FQ during PW week. Should I be worried? Any tips/suggestions? TIA!

BTW, many thanks to GoofyGirlnPrincessV for posting the links to your photos! I really appreciate the sneak preview and your DD is adorable! Thanks so much for sharing!

Question for anyone who has walked from POFQ to POR?
How long of a walk is it? Is the pathway lighted very well for a walk to POR after dark?
I want to rent a boat and visit POR food court and restaurant.
Thanks! :Pinkbounc

10 minutes--two adults. A bit faster then when we took the kids with us.

Hi everyone!
We just got back last night. We had a great trip although it was super hot. Just wanted to say thank you for all of the hints and advice about POFQ. We really liked the resort. We checked in at about 8:30 pm on 9/8 and there was only one person ahead of us in line. The cast member helping us was nice although I couldn't talk her out of our room, but then again, I'm not very persuasive. I was kind of upset when I first found out that we were in room 7123 because I thought we were going to be in the boonies, but then we realized it wasn't that far. We even had a corner room. One side overlooked the parking lot and the other looked into the couryard and I think building 4. It was pretty quiet and just a few minutes away from the bus stops.

Mousekeeping was great and I think we had towel creations 4 or 5 of the days we were there! We were so suprised, because we didn't really expect it. My kids were absolutely thrilled! I can't remember our regular mousekeepers name, exactly. I think it was Nelda or something like that.

The bus service was pretty good. We didn't have to wait that long for a bus, except on the last night. It was really nice to be picked up before POR. I felt bad for a lot of people at POR though, because often a lot of them had to stand. Coming back at night time, the buses were usually crowded, but luckily I only had to stand once, however a couple of people offered seats for my little ones (my hands were full as I had a stroller and other stuff to carry and my kids were having a hard time balencing with the bus in motion). I was so grateful and I really appreciated their kindness. :goodvibes . During the daytime it wasn't near as crowded coming "home" from the parks.

The food court was pretty good. I always ordered the chicken quesadilla. We took advantage of POR's big food court. It wasn't crowded at all when we went over there.

The pool was really neat and my dd really enjoyed the slide. Plenty of seats available, too.

Overall we really enjoyed the beauty and size of POFQ. I loved being so close to a river. It was just a totally relaxing atmosphere for us and we would definitely stay there again.
