Thanks for answering my question. I feel much smarter now. :teacher: I guess I never thought about it before. We usually want to be as far away from our family as possible. We are actually staying at different resorts so we don't get on each other's nerves.

We've never done Disney with extended family, but we've done many other trips together, and we always specifically request rooms that are not next to each other or adjoining. One year my dad and brother+girlfriend got rooms on two different floors which we thought was great--until we realized my brother+girlfriend's room was directly above my dad's room. :rotfl: We still laugh about that trip!

We love staying at POFQ. I prefer it over GF!

During one trip, my brother (and sister in law and kids) had a connecting room with her mother. We were all hanging out in my brother's room, and had the connecting door open. My brother managed to get the TV remote out of his mother in law's room and was turning the TV on and off unbeknowst to her. She freaked out and called the front desk and was so frantic that they were going to bring her up another TV. We had to come clean at that point. But the look on her face was priceless. (A haunted room?? LOL!!)

Just subscribing... We are headed to POFQ in September - and if i am lucky I may get thru this entire thread by then. Thanks for all the great feedback/advice - this thread is really getting me excited about POFQ!

One sentence should sum it up. Getting on the bus first going to the parks!

Sometimes the bus filled up at POFQ and we'd just go straight to the parks. Also it was nice being able to get off first when you are exhausted! Hope this helps!
Depends on the route. We took a return route through the various POR stops before getting to POFQ.

I will say that I really like POFQ. GREAT pool (maybe the best on-site) and a lively food court/bar area. Just had a festive (not noisy) feel to it. Trouble is those bus rides to the parks are looong. POFQ is just so far from the rest of the park. If it were in the location of, say, Yacht/Beach club it would be perfect! :teeth:

Hi all! We will be going back to PO FQ Jan.1,2007-Jan.7,2007. Our last trip was last December it was also our first stay at PO FQ and we are happy to be staying there again. Out of all the resorts we have been to it is my kids favorite so far. We can not wait to go back!!

Hi,
We were able to book a package with AAA rate this morning. I was originally requesting CBR, but they had no AAA discounts available for the first week in June. I was not prepared to put in a room request for POFQ, since I hadn't done any research for this hotel. So, I just requested first floor non smoking. Are they any bad areas to this beautiful hotel? Also, a few pages back, someone mentioned they stayed away from first floor rooms to avoid "critters" from coming in during the night. I freak out at mice/snakes. Can I expect these visitors in my first floor room?

Ok, second question is about bus service. How has it been lately, Can I expect standing room only on the bus? How long does it take to get to the parks, including the POR stops? Is it that bad?

We visited POFQ on our last trip to do the carriage ride and found it to be very peaceful. And we stayed at POR back in it's Dixie Landings days, so I'm not disappointed to stay at POFQ. It looks beautiful. But I'm not sure if I made a mistake not requesting a certain building, and I know nothing about bus service. Can anyone reassure me?
Thanks! :sunny:

Just back, we loved POFQ! Had first floor ajoining rooms, bld 2 facing the pool. Perfect. Rooms clean, quiet & pretty. Did tip each day, but no towel animals for grandson. We left his stuffed animals out hoping they would get "staged" but no luck.
Only used the pool once but it was very nice. :thumbsup2
Would recommend this resort. Great being the first bus to drop after a long day. Many times we would be too full to pick up at POR. But I think PO is the farthest drop point at all the parks. :confused3

tkitty-thanks for your review :goodvibes. Can you tell me which building you were in? I think my dh requested building 2. Also, did you like the food at the food court? Thanks again!!

Anyone have any idea how many King bed rooms are at PO-FQ? We made very early reservations (room only) to get a king and a regular room in January (marathon weekend). When our TA switched it to a package last week she messed up and got us 2 standard rooms and now all the King rooms are gone. She is going to call every day but I seem to remember from our last trip that there are few King rooms at all. My Dad/Stepmom are coming with us a few nights and they only want a King. If we can't get it we may have to do a split stay which I'd rather not do....though we considered switching to a Deluxe if there is a good sale BUT we really LOVE PO-FQ.

Ugggh!

About the TV's at POFQ... Do they have hook-ups so that you can plug your little dvd player into them?

Hi there! Really enjoyed all the work everyone has put into this thread. I requested a non-smoking room in bldg. 4 but I see that bldg. 4 is listed as a smoking bldg. Does this bldg. have rooms that are non-smoking or are they all designated as smoking? I don't have a problem sharing the building with smokers as long as I am in a room that is designated as non-smoking. :)

I was in a non-smoking room in building 4 in January. I never saw smoke or smelled smoke.
Great location!!! Close to the bus stop and close to the food court.

What's the BEST standard room/building to request? We're going in Sept-Oct 2007, me, DH, DD(4) and DD(2), MIL and possibly FIL or SIL. We want to be close to food court and pool and busses, but in a relatively quiet area. What should I request when I book?

They had front access that I used for my camera so I'm sure you could do it.

I'm here right now, looking at our TV and there is quite a bit of ports on the back for plugging various things in, so I'm gonna say yes. If you'd like, I can take a picture of it and post it for you (?) There's also ports on the front for what looks like maybe a video recorder hook up.

Just chiming in. We are staying at POFQ for 5 nights in December at Christmas. This will be our first stay here and it sounds like we will love it.
