We are almost within our 5 day window to call and make room preference requests. Can anyone suggest a section/spot as a good spot? Building?

We asked for standard room (since we didn't want to face the pool).

Thanks!

Not sure if it's too late or not, but we stayed in Bldg. 5 last time we stayed at POFQ and we really liked the location. Nice courtyard area, close to pool, close to food court, lobby and the bus. POFQ is so quaint, I don't think you could get a bad room in any location.

Enjoy your trip!

My family and I have always wanted to stay @ POFQ, but we always wind up at the WL.(DH loves it).One of our main concerns is the busses. How hard is it to get a bus? Are they particularly slow. Planning on going in JAN and would love any advice. :flower3:

Ok I got tired of reading these so I am sorry if this question was already asked.
Doe FQ have trundle beds. I know RiverSide does but wasnt sure abotu French Quater.
Thank You

Sorry, no trundle beds at the FQ....they are only at Riverside!

I need to preface this with saying that I don't mind the bus transportation so I may be biased. I thought that the buses were prompt and that we never really had a long wait. POFQ is picked up before POR so seating is better but you should be aware that the bus will stop at the sister resort.

We only had one issue and I would not have even noticed if I wasn't carrying my sleeping DGD, who suddenly seemed to gain 100 pounds. The driver made a mistake and hot SSR first and made the entire loop there before going to drop us off. That seemed like a long night but I believe it was only my arms talking. They squawked on the walk to our room in BLDG 1 as well and that walk never bothered me when she wasn't draped around my neck and shoulders and weighing like 300 pounds ;)

I have a ressie at CBR for my 77 y.o. mom and I in the prefered section. I have been trying to get POFQ for our dates with a discount~~~~NO luck at all!!

I want a room that is close to the food courts and is a short walk to the bus stops. So, please tell me if the rack rate is worth it at POFQ over the discounted CBR prefered section. I think she would really like the theming, the boat ride to DTD, and it just seems like a smaller resort. I have never stayed at POFQ and thik it is sooo beautiful and know mom would too.

HELP!!!!!

How far is Typhoon Lagoon from POFQ? Can anyone have quick directions? We will have our car to drive to the water parks.

It's just a few minutes' drive.

Turn left out of the hotel grounds and then go straight ahead over two sets of lights. Turn left at the third set of lights and Typhoon Lagoon is a little way along on your right, just before you get to Downtown Disney.

This might be added to one of my deciding factors of which resort I pick. I know my DS(8) would love to start visiting the waterparks and Disney Quest. It would be great to be so close to each activity. This might be our first year to consider adding the Water Park Option. We are debating about ASMU but POFQ might have the edge on convenience.

The same thing happened to us! It was really late and we were standing because the bus was full. I was thinking to myself, "I don't remember it taking this long." Then we pull into SSR! All of a sudden everyone on the bus was "HEY!". So we turned around in SSR and headed back to PO. This was in January. That was our only "problem" on a bus the whole trip!

I tried to search this thread for my answer, but it kept sending me to search the entire site. Oh well... what type filters do I need to bring or are they provided?

Thanks for the info!

Filters are provided. The coffee makers are apparently a 4-cup size, with basket type filters [like I know anything about making coffee! LOL]

Hi everyone!

had terrible news that our travel co. filed for bankrupcy so our trip to OKW is now lost :sad1:
However.....
we have now made a new booking with WDW and are going to be staying at POFQ next August

Our stay at OKW was part of a free upgrade and we couldn't afford to re-book the exact holiday, but from what I have read already on this thread, I feel like I have made a good choice.

Can any of you POFQ lovers make me feel even better about our accomodation change??? please tell me what you love about the resort!!!!

:thanks:

We just got back and we got our building request. Building 4 and we had the best room ever I think. The bottom floor, over looking a little courtyard, just a few rooms from the restaurant, just down the lane and a corner from the pool and close to the back way to the buses. We loved the resort, loved the boat to DtD. The food choices at the food court were limited but we'd rather eat at the parks anyway. Our room was always clean and plenty of space. I'd rate it a 9 out of 10 for the price! :thumbsup2

Sorry about your first trip ressies. But, I for one love POFQ. 1) The food court is so centrally located. Basically anytime you are going to the parks or coming back you can walk through the food court to refill your mugs. Last year I think I had one of the furthest rooms ever from the food court - and it was still nothing compared to the hike I had for years at the Carribean. 2) LOVE the pool! I love the slide, the theme, etc. I love the hot tub area all tucked away. 3) Being from the north, when I go to FL, I want to still feel like I'm down south and I feel POFQ is great for that. 3) I stayed at ASMo once and they had a gaurd in their food court, like they were just waiting for someone to try to steal stuff or "dare" to go up to the soda fountain area w/out a resort mug. I did not like that at all. I've never seen anything like that at the mods or deluxes.

I've always enjoyed my stay there, hopefully you will too!

Thanks Melanie :thumbsup2
I have been trying to get through all the pages of this thread :faint: and the more I read the more I think we are going to like it. The size of the resort is what is getting me really excited, I hate having to trek to the food court, pool and bus stop, I do enough walking at the parks :rotfl:
The fact that they don't have table service there does not phase me at all as I use all my table service credits at the parks or the deluxe hotels anyway.
We stayed at POP last year, there was no guard there, but perhaps there should have been as I saw many families taking food and drink without paying for it, it was really very sad.

Thanks for your reply Melanie,
if there's anyone else who can add to the excitement for me, give me any tips etc on POFQ,,,, pleeease feel free to post :grouphug:

Hi Traci. I didn't know what OKW looked like, so before answering you, I took a look at some pictures. Personally, OKW would be too ritzy for me. I know my dh would not be comfortable there at all, we just wouldn't fit in.

We've only been to WDW once (last October) and we left our resort selection up to our TA. She felt that POFQ would be the right resort for us and she was right. There is a peacefulness there that hits you the minute you pull onto the property. After a busy day in the parks, it was nice to come "home" to less busy-ness.

If we ever get to make a second trip, POFQ is the place we will stay. I think you'll like it.
