Has anybody ever rented the bikes? I was hoping to be able to bike around for a bit before we leave for the parks every morning, but it appears the rental place doesn't open until 10 AM. Can I rent them ahead of time?

You'd have to cross an employees only area, cut through the Old Key West resort, cross a couple of streams, walk along 3 or 4 holes on the golf course, and then cross the river to get to Pleasure Island, then walk all the way around to the Marketplace. The walk would probably take you 2 hours to go one way, and there would be no signs telling you which way to go, but theoretically, yeah, it could be done.

As long as Disney doesn't catch you in one of about 5 different spots on the way which you're not supposed to be in.

In other words...no. ;)

Great thread. :thumbsup2
Can anyone give me advise about the best way to get from POFQ to the Poly and AKL using Disney transportation? About how much time should I leave? Thanks.:)

From POFQ, you can take the bus to Magic Kingdom and then take the boat or monorail to Poly. I would give yourself about 30-40 minutes just to be safe. To get to AKL, I would take the bus to AK and then transfer to a bus to AKL. The busride to AK is a little longer from POFQ, so I would give yourself about 40-45 minutes.

Hope this helps!

To get to the Poly take the MK bus then use the monorail or boat to Poly.

For AKL, take the bus to AK then take the AKL bus.

You could also go through DTD for each resort, as long as its past 9am.

Disney will tell you to allow each transfer point an hour. It usually doesn't take that long.

I agree with the above advice that you can get to AKL by taking a bus to Animal Kingdom and then from there a bus to AK.

However, you should also feel free to catch a bus to Disney's Hollywood Studios (formerly MGM) and take an AKL bus from there. Geographically, it makes just as much sense. It it were me, it wouldn't matter to me whether I got on a bus to DHS or AK ... I'd just get on whichever comes first.

It's true. Just proves there's more than one way to skin a cat when it comes to Disney transporation.

What parks or area has POFQ have direct transportation to.
Every WDW resort has direct transportation to each of the 4 theme parks and Downtown Disney. If you are staying at any of the WDW owned-and-operated resorts, you NEVER have to transfer to get from your resort to any of the theme parks or DTD.

POFQ's transportation is by bus. You'd go wait at the POFQ bus stop and wait for the next bus that is going to your destination. In other words, if you wanted to go to Magic Kingdom, you wait for a bus that says "Magic Kingdom" on the front display. If you see a bus that says "Epcot," you don't get on it unless you want to go to Epcot.

In addition, POFQ has boat transportation to Downtown Disney.

CleveRocks, Skipperkim & kmg1107 Thanks for the quick replies. That's a big help.

I stayed at FQ 2 years ago and will be there this August from the 7th till the 17th. Can anyone tell me if they have a store there or in Riverside to get milk, cereal etc. I can't seem to remember and we like to eat breakfast in the room. It saves a lot of time. Thanks

You can indeed get milk in the gift shop. Juice and more as well. DVC's have more of an extensive selection since they have kitchens.

Does anyone have pictures of the bars and where is the lounge located?:drinking1

The lounge is very convenient, it's just off the main lobby on the way to the food court. The pool bar is a short walk from the pool, a bit closer to the main building rather than right next to the pool as it is at Riverside.

I've got some pics of both the Mardi Grogs pool bar and the Scat Cats lounge in the Gallery at my portorleans.org site, or I think there are some here too.

Thanks for the great pic's and info:cool1:

Andre, thanks for the link, great site!
Been working my way through this thread since we've decided to book two rooms at POFQ vs. a cabin at Ft. Wilderness.
I'm nervous about staying at a Moderate, but excited to try something new!
FQ reminds me of New Orleans Square at Disneyland, one of my favorite places!
Thanks to everyone for all of the information!

Can anyone tell me if the coffee at the food court is any good? Please tell me it is NOT Nescafe, or as it is known in my family, Nes-crap-pe.

Tried to go through all 136 pages, but could have missed this info.

Does anyone happen to have one of those 'maps' that shows room numbers and locations?

Thanks much!
