That's the real trouble with the world, too many people grow up; A Feb. '21 birthday TR with a little "extra" thrown in *LINK TO NEW TR! 10/9!*

Happy Almost Friday all! Taking a little time to update because like Disney this is a Happy Place for me and work has been :crazy::crazy: and I need a vacation!
Luckily in about a month I'll be here:

On the Copper Creek side but still at the Lodge! We're doing a quick 3 night stay for Flower and Garden and I'm counting the days........also looking forward to Easter and Ricky being home again to celebrate his birthday which is a few days later.

Hmm...we just might have some overlapping trip dates now...even though mine won't be a true "Disney" trip. Maybe there is a chance for a quick hello! And yay for having Ricky home!

That led to a 6:45 wake up for me, followed by a shower, quickly followed by quite the bit of uneasiness while blow drying my hair, followed by me going back to bed. Festivities from the night before were clearly getting in the way of rope drop and I felt much better when Melinda texted that she as well was not quite ready for rope dropping this day! Steve ran in to Jenny and Joe in the lobby while grabbing me some OJ and a muffin and while they were headed out, Jenny was pretty much having a similar morning to myself.

A nap, muffin and refreshing bottle of OJ later we were ready to head to the park around 10:30? So not too bad! Seeing this made my tummy do a flip flop but in a good way:

And a hearty hello from Donald added to the happiness!

Sounds like you guys really had some fun the night before for sure! Not bad at all to get out and I love the Donald hello!

I wasn't ready for anything CRAZY like BTMRR so we started with HM and a leisurely stroll through Liberty Square which I think is a seriously underrated land:
Do we all know why the center is brown/tan/not the same as the rest?
And what the lanterns hanging from the tree over by Ye Olde Christmas Shoppe signify? No? Ok.

I do know why the center is brown/tan...fun facts gleamed from one of our tours there. I'm sure we were probably told about the lanterns as well but I don't recall that information.

I'm happy to say I made another fan. The CM's here were super friendly and when one noticed my birthday button she brought me this!

It was the Valentine's Day special cinnamon type cupcake and it was delish. I can't remember where Jen and Joe went but Steve and I headed back to the resort as I had about 2 hours worth of work that turned into about 4 hours worth of work. But at least I saw this when we returned to the room!

Aww...what a nice surprise!

The work kind of ruined our dinner plans; but I needed to keep going and get a wedding group contract done as it had to go back and forth a few times and was due DONE in 2 days. We felt bad but finally let Jen know we wouldn't be joining them at California Grill but WOULD keep our plans to meet up with them at MK later! Once I finished we went down to Three Bridges again and luckily were seated at the bar within about 10 minutes even though it was like 7:15 on a busy night:

One day we will have to try Three Bridges for a real meal...the Sangria class there was fantastic! The burger and fries also looked amazing. Sad that you missed on Cali Grill.

It was a more low key day and dinner than the day/night before, and that was OK! We still had a few days to go and bonus! got an extra unexpected day!

Nothing wrong with that at all. Low key days are nice.

I think because as a family we've had some really good trips over Thanksgiving? Well other than the terrible trip of 2015 but otherwise......And I love the weather, don't find it too crowded. I think it's a really great way to start off the holiday season!
All very good reasons (except 2015.)
We'd only been to see the holiday decorations - over Thanksgiving - and then a few years ago were looking for new restaurants to try and found it!
A happy accident, then. :)
LOL I could go through all the emojis and find a few choice ones.......
Certainly not on the Dis! :crowded:

Ahh the streets of brown, of course I know the answer to those fun items, thanks to the Awesome MK tours! Wish these were back!

I am looking forward to 3 bridges bar on our April trip. The burger looks and sounds delicious. This will be on my list with the sangria flight.

Looks like a fun and more relaxing day!

I need a vacation!
So do I! And I'm on one right now!
Nothing like a 3 week vacation... stuck at home.
Copper Creek side but still at the Lodge
I'm glad you posted that. I did not recognize that at all!
Whoopsie!
Must be the flu. :rolleyes1
Seeing this made my tummy do a flip flop but in a good way:

Does that to me too. :)
Do we all know why the center is brown/tan/not the same as the rest?
::yes::
And what the lanterns hanging from the tree over by Ye Olde Christmas Shoppe signify? No? Ok.
Considering I'm not even from your country... it's a bit of a wonder that I do know. How colonial of me.
(Just don't ask me to name them.)
I was able to introduce them to one of my absolute favorite snacks over at the Poly; the famous Capt. Cook's Pulled Pork Nachos!
whoa... that looks pretty darn good!
The CM's here were super friendly and when one noticed my birthday button she brought me this!
Nice! :)
I had about 2 hours worth of work that turned into about 4 hours worth of work.
:sad2:
:goodvibes
We felt bad but finally let Jen know we wouldn't be joining them at California Grill
That's too bad. I know that would've been a lot of fun.
I think this is my new favorite Disney property burger!
High praise! I'll have to make an effort to get over there, if/when.

Glad you got to feeling better so you could enjoy MK! I know about the different colored pavement in the middle of the street in LS. Not sure about the lantern, though. 🤔

Do we all know why the center is brown/tan/not the same as the rest?

Is it a river or waste refuse?

And what the lanterns hanging from the tree over by Ye Olde Christmas Shoppe signify? No? Ok.

13 original colonies.

the famous Capt. Cook's Pulled Pork Nachos!

These look so good! Someday I'm going to get them.

The CM's here were super friendly and when one noticed my birthday button she brought me this!

That was a great bit of Pixie Dust.

Three Bridges Signature Burger*
crispy potato, Manchego cheese, roasted garlic-lemon aïoli, arugula, and tomato served with smoked paprika fries or fruit

This does sound really good.

Oh I do! I still come out with a "DEEZ NUTS" every now and then!

:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:
As for the dresses at 5'3" I don't have the same issue
Another 5'3"er here! Nice things come in small parcels! At least that's what I like to think though it could also be said that poison comes in small bottles :scared1::rotfl:
I think we have 6 or 7 now, just still need to hang this one up!
It's tied for my favorite along with the WL print we have from him
You should take us all on a wee tour of your prints so we can see them too :goodvibes
Do we all know why the center is brown/tan/not the same as the rest?
Yes to this
And what the lanterns hanging from the tree over by Ye Olde Christmas Shoppe signify?
No to this until...
But I don't know about the light by the Christmas shoppe.
13 original colonies.
Now I know. Thanks Vanessa :thumbsup2

also looking forward to Easter and Ricky being home again to celebrate his birthday which is a few days later.
It will be really nice to have a normal Easter and a normal birthday for Ricky. Our grandson's birthday is April 7th and last year was the beginning of the pandemic lock down and he didn't get a party. This year will be different. :)
And what the lanterns hanging from the tree over by Ye Olde Christmas Shoppe signify? No? Ok.
I know about the brown concrete but not the lanterns.
then I was able to introduce them to one of my absolute favorite snacks over at the Poly; the famous Capt. Cook's Pulled Pork Nachos!
My favorite, too. I'm hoping to get over to the Poly for these nachos during our GF trip in a few weeks. We booked the April 12-15th trip between two birthdays, our grandson's and our daughter's birthday on April 26th.
The work kind of ruined our dinner plans; but I needed to keep going and get a wedding group contract done as it had to go back and forth a few times and was due DONE in 2 days.
I hear that wedding bookings are going crazy with all that pent up demand. Brides deserve the wedding of their dreams. It's too bad that it interferes with your vacation.

This looks good. I want to go to Three Bridges someday.

That is going to be so nice to have your boy home. Even though Jack was just home last weekend for Jamie and Stuart's birthday, he will be home again next weekend for Easter and I can't wait!
I'm glad yours will be home too!!
Boo to work on vacation but also yay to running a successful small business!
I often have to do dining (or in the old days fastpasses) on our trips but this was just the way the year has been since the beginning, nonstop! It is awesome; tiring and stressful but awesome :goodvibes
I am so happy to hear all the great reviews on Three Bridges. Jack and I are planning to eat there on our arrival night as we are going to do a night at Gran Destino before hitting the DVC portion of our stay. :)
So the first time we ate there back a bit we weren't that impressed and this time it was like a 100% turnaround! I would actually venture over to CSR just to eat there if we weren't staying there.
YES! These are the kinds of details I LOVE about visiting.....also the kind of information I can't keep myself from sharing with my family EVERY time we visit. They're like, "we know, we know, the lanterns." :)
LOL! And my kids don't even care!
Forget the muffin. You should have had THIS for breakfast!! :)
You know you are totally right lol
Hmm...we just might have some overlapping trip dates now...even though mine won't be a true "Disney" trip. Maybe there is a chance for a quick hello! And yay for having Ricky home!
Ooh are you going in April? Doing Universal or just a Florida stay?
Aww...what a nice surprise!
I wish all the TV's would do this!
All very good reasons (except 2015.)
Yup. 2015 was a bad year.
Not 2020 bad mind you-just bad in Disney terms!

So do I! And I'm on one right now!
Nothing like a 3 week vacation... stuck at home.
Oh yucky! That's a long staycation!
Whoopsie!
Must be the flu. :rolleyes1
Yuppers :thumbsup2

It took me by surprise that someone wouldn't know the 13 colonies but.....we didn't really learn about Canada so I'll give you a pass

Well if you read the rest of the responses here now you probably do! There are a few other details in Liberty Square referring to colonial times but I didn't get pictures of those this time. I'll have to get them in April!
s it a river or waste refuse?
Haha yes!
The brown pavement represents the raw sewage that ran down the streets of Colonial America. During that era, people threw the waste from the upper windows of their homes and it gathered in the street. "
13 original colonies.
Yes! I love all the details here and I don't think most people know about them or stop to look!
These look so good! Someday I'm going to get them.
You have to; you'll be hooked :thumbsup2
You should take us all on a wee tour of your prints so we can see them too :goodvibes
Maybe I will in a post soon!
Now I know. Thanks Vanessa :thumbsup2
Ha! Well like @pkondz you probably didn't learn much colonial era USA history in school!
It will be really nice to have a normal Easter and a normal birthday for Ricky. Our grandson's birthday is April 7th and last year was the beginning of the pandemic lock down and he didn't get a party. This year will be different. :)
Yes to that! Ricky's is the 8th; I hung a huge sign in the window I made that said "Happy 18th Birthday Ricky" and people honked when they drove by which is what lots of people were doing that early on. Will be way better this year!
I hear that wedding bookings are going crazy with all that pent up demand. Brides deserve the wedding of their dreams. It's too bad that it interferes with your vacation.
We're certainly getting lots more group wedding bookings than usual!
This looks good. I want to go to Three Bridges someday.
I think you guys would like it
Those nachos are a new favorite and I intend on getting them again in June...
Haha and since I posted the update I've been craving them!

Oh yucky! That's a long staycation!
Yeah... I thought "I'll make my vacation at the end of the fiscal year. This thing (covid) will be over by then, right?"

So... apparently... not.
It took me by surprise that someone wouldn't know the 13 colonies but.....we didn't really learn about Canada so I'll give you a pass
I would certainly hope so!!!

First I want to show you the new Larry Dotson print we picked up at FARTS.

That is gorgeous! I love what he wrote

We stayed in BLT for the first time in a 1 bedroom and LOVED it.

Yay! We finally agree on a resort! HaHa! I love how much space there is and you cannot beat the two bathrooms :thumbsup2

We're doing a quick 3 night stay for Flower and Garden and I'm counting the days.

Awesome! But I'm sad we'll be missing you by a few days!

Do we all know why the center is brown/tan/not the same as the rest?

::yes::

And what the lanterns hanging from the tree over by Ye Olde Christmas Shoppe signify?

I forgot about that until I saw someone's answer above.

That looks so delicious. I'm always in search of a yummy burger down there. My favorite at the moment is at GP 😋

Haha yes!

Yes! I love all the details here and I don't think most people know about them or stop to look!

I think my youngest Danielle was the one to tell me these when she was in middle school. She did the Disney YES program with her Disney Club. Love me some History.

Ahh the streets of brown, of course I know the answer to those fun items, thanks to the Awesome MK tours! Wish these were back!
Me too! I have people asking all the time if they're back and I really want to do the Up Close with Rhinos again.
I am looking forward to 3 bridges bar on our April trip. The burger looks and sounds delicious. This will be on my list with the sangria flight.
I just can't wait for you to get back next month :)
Yeah... I thought "I'll make my vacation at the end of the fiscal year. This thing (covid) will be over by then, right?"

So... apparently... not.
Ah so it's YOUR fault this has gone on this long?? Because you had the audacity to THINK you'd have a NORMAL vacation i fyou waited?

Yeah thanks a lot there dude.
;)
my son's history lessons recently have been about the times I grew up in! :scared1: I mean seriously, honest to God-my childhood! I know it's important and all that but I'm only 55!
LMAO! Well as you know I'm not far behind you so I assume when our grandchildren get in school they'll be learning about "long ago history" of the 1980's!
Universal Parks only...but Disney Resort stay likely so maybe a few Disney restaurants.
Well lmk when you make those reservations so we can see if we're at the same place at the same time! Right now we look like this as far as out of the parks:
4/25: Cali Grill dinner
4/26: Terralina for dinner
That is gorgeous! I love what he wrote
\
Me too it was a nice touch!
Yay! We finally agree on a resort! HaHa!
LOL ok but you did like WL when we stayed in May 2019!
But I'm sad we'll be missing you by a few days!
I know, but I'm happy it looks like you're going. And we'll see each other in October if not before
I think my youngest Danielle was the one to tell me these when she was in middle school. She did the Disney YES program with her Disney Club. Love me some History.
I do too which is why I think I'm partial to Liberty Square.

After our low key night shutting down MK we were all bright and shiny for our day at AK! This was Feb, 16th so we had one more full park day after this.

566235

Ok we didn't quite start out that way but we got there fast! And no we didn't each get two drinks, @Jenny Sanders and Joe were with us! We all got the Dawa Bloody Mary except Joe who got the pretty peach drink.
However before we did that we visited some furry, scaly, and horny friends

566236

It was not park opening but the safari is pretty much always the first place I go :) Have you seen the new little goat area at the end? It's supposed to be the wardens cabin

566241

No goats here I know; on our 2nd safari of the day the goats were plentiful and playful but I wasn't taking pictures for some reason! I do like this addition. We saw it in Nov. but it was half done with no signage so we had no idea what it was.

What up 'yo!

566243

After the safari we decided to eat and used our handy dandy Landry's card to treat Jen and Joe to a fast, no reservation needed ts meal. Alas in these times this didn't work out quite as well as usual; Yak & Yeti is basically stating their too busy these days with limited capacity to seat Landry's members right away. They did seat us right away in July but we waited about 20 minutes in Nov. and I think about 30 this day? I mean all in all not bad for getting a TS with no reservation but still a tad annoying.
We started with - what else?

566244

I don't remember what Joe had but mine was topped with the kiwi. I'd had this in Nov. and remembered how great it was:

Kiwi Kimono
Don Q Coconut Rum, Vodka, Midori Melon Liqueur, Fresh Kiwi, and Sweet and Sour

Then Jen tried and I'm pretty sure enjoyed the
Yak Attack
Mango Daiquiri, Don Q Cristal Rum and Wildberry Flavors

None of us ate heavy because we had a big dinner we were looking forward to but I want to share one thing I got that was out of this WORLD! Behold the very common wonton soup:

566245

I do not usually eat wonton soup as I'm more a hot and sour or miso soup girl, but this was fantastic! I will get this any and every time I return!
We did another safari after we left because the 2nd time is twice as nice! Oh but before lunch we all rode EE; I pretty much forced Jen since it was my birthday so she HAD to. While I look horrendous in the picture you can see how thrilled she was but kudos for taking one for the team!

566247

I know it seems like we didn't do that much and I guess maybe we didn't; 3 rides, a drink stop, lunch and some sitting/relaxing time in there. But I have found AK to be MORE enjoyable and MORE relaxing Post-COVID so this was just perfect. We shopped on our way out and went back to the resort to get ready for our last big night out together! We were taking Jenny and Joe to a new to them restaurant that we'd been to a few times including once with the @pepperandchipses who would again be joining us:

566249

Is this my absolute favorite Italian restaurant on property? YES. Did we have an absolute blast again? YES! Stay tuned!
