Getting a cupcake from Starring Rolls is on my list of things to do too, hopefully I can mark it off in October - they look sooooo good!!
Hi everyone!
Since we're getting close to the end of this TR, I thought I'd update on our next potential trips. First, I am one step closer to getting to visit my sister once she starts the college program!! A few of you might have seen my post on facebook but I went ahead and booked a room for a long weekend trip. I'm not going to reveal all the details since I'm still talking to my dad about a few things but I will say these three things:
1.) It will NOT be in December (sadly, after talking to Dad, aka manager of the DVC points, we ended up cancelling that reservation).
2.) I will (most likely) NOT be staying at a DVC resort.
3.) This will most likely be my first solo adventure!
The good news about cancelling the December reservation is that it freed up some Vacation Club points and we are probably going to use those for a spring break trip! (YAY Flower and Garden Festival!).
Wow, that's a lot of most likelys/probablys. LOL. Once I wrap up this trip report, I'll share more.![]()

WHOA, I can't believe how dark it was when you were at the Contemporary! You'd think that was the middle of the night and not time for breakfast! I wonder how weird that looks while in the parks!
Not only are little kids braver than we are, they also sometimes have stronger stomachs and don't get dizzy like we do! Haha, that's what I hear in the back of my mind after I tell myself, "Oh, it can't be that scary if the little kid is riding it." I think you can totally handle M:S green though. You do go on the other thrill rides like ToT and RnR! Those are two that I WON'T do!
Haha, and of course you'd be fine on Sum of All Thrills as long as you designed your own ride, held on to your card, and didn't let anyone bump into you ...
Even though there was no campfire, I like that they still provided the no-bake cookie activity. It could've been much easier to just cancel it and not have a replacement, but I like that they filled it with something! And yay for your bomb diggity cookie! Haha.
Ooo, a solo adventure?!? FUN!
Yum, that cupcake looks delicious! Howard and I decided that we want to try the peanut butter chocolate one ...![]()
I tried to get the cupcake last week when I was there but it was closedI'll have to go earlier next time!!!
I love the theming in the Monsters meet-and-greet queue. It had so many great details, but I think the magazine with the barcode over Mike's face is my favorite.
That cupcake looks huge! We've never tried Staring Rolls before. Perhaps we should check it out.
We loved Starring Rolls! I got the butterfinger cupcake too and my DH helped me eat it(along with his brownie)
I really want to try Pizza Planet, but Sci Fi has won the toss for Sept,
I can't wait to hear about your next trip! Good Luck to your sister!
The only time I really miss being with someone is mealtime.
It's a little weird saying 'just one' in the line, but after a few times you can tell the CM's don't think it's weird....they get it all the time, so it's just another party to them. I didn't get any weird or pitying looks.
Wow that cupcake is massive!

Love your Mike & Sully picture! That magazine cover is hilarious. Poor Mike! I love the different ways they cover up his face
And oh my gosh that cupcake really must have been huge. I can see how that could easily feed 3 people, it looks very yummy though.
Oooh a solo adventure sounds like an interesting experience!
Cute Mike & Sully picture
I tried Starring Rolls for the first time last trip and it was alright. I got the marble cupcake and it must have been refrigerated or something because it was so cold! I will go back so I can try the Butterfinger though!
Just catching up with your TR after a vacation, not WDW.
Love seeing the sun in your DHS pictures, so happy it came out for your last full day. You look like you really were able to do a lot at the studios. No drawing on this day?
If you go back to starring rolls you should try their sandwiches, basically a huge focaccia with yummy filling. We had a turkey sandwich, and purchased an extra croissant. We were then able to split the turkey and fillings into two sandwiches. Huge, even when you share. And I think it was pretty reasonable too.
I did get an announcement for the 11th, hope I can stop by......
Can't wait to hear about you upcoming trips. Hope it works out well for you. I don't really travel to Disney alone, but did spend a lot of time alone when I went to DL and DCA last summer. (DH was really into the fan fest for the All Star weekend) It wasn't strange at all, and actually kinda fun. It helped that the hotel was right on property, so it was super easy to get to the parks quickly. Plus you will have your DS to meet up with when she is free.
Too funny about listening to Harry Potter while at WDW. Congrats on finishing up Summer school, hope you have some time to re charge prior to returning to school in a few weeks.
Sarah makes me sound like some kind of evil DVC points miser.
I'm just having to be a little careful with our points this year because we have so many short trips scheduled in the next 5 months relating to Sarah's sister's DCP adventure. Those points will go farther if we avoid the busy holiday periods that require significantly more points per night. We've already borrowed some points from our next year, and I don't want to do too much of that.
The reason that Sarah might not be staying at a DVC resort in October is because, by the time she asked me to try to book the nights she wanted, one of the nights was unavailable (probably due to Halloween and the Food and Wine Festival). But, she is on a wait list and could still get the DVC reservation.
I think a short solo trip could be a lot of fun. You do what you want without having to worry about anyone else. Plus, it's easy to strike up converstaions with people in lines to give you some company. I might have some solo time in the parks when we take our daughter to start the DCP in a few weeks. Although my wife will be with me, she isn't that crazy about the hot weather (and isn't quite the Disney fanatic the rest of us are) so I may take advantage of my annual pass to spend a few hours in the parks doing things that I like, even if it's sitting on a rocking chair watching the crowds go by.
Wow! I can't believe, either, how dark it was on your Chef Mickey morning. That is crazy and I bet it was eerie to be out in that.
Looks like I'm catching back up just in time for the close of this one...can't wait to hear more of your plans for your upcoming trips.![]()
When are you going in October?
