That Foo's Boo Is Incredible!!! - Jan 14 TR *THE END 7/19 Pg. 51*

Day 3 - Sunday January 19, 2014

Up next: Does it count as fruit if it has fruit in it?

I like how this picture makes you look like you have one of the tiny mickey ear hats on!

Sans is an awsome word! We had a friend who named one of his cats Sans since the cat was born with no tail!

Yeah cute might work in the bar trying to get free drinks but thankfully not in the fastpass line at Disney.

I'm telling ya that Yeti is a camara_____ (the DIS wont let me use the word I wanted to:scared:), now he is cute and could probably cut in the fastpass line.

Yes if it has fruit in it that makes it fruit. So do things like Cherry Twizzlers, Strawberry Nesquik and Peach Milkshakes

I always say one day one of us will be the rebel spy...still waiting on that day to come!! Love the ToT picture!! Yeti has the best adventures!!:goodvibes

"Just Ask the Padawan Sans Digits....."
Love it! I love the new MB bling too, I thought about getting a cover too but I never actually did. :confused3
I always see people standing right in front of the FP entrance chatting about what to do next... um, it's a pathway there, fellows! :headache:
I hate the pod race. Never watch the special features on that particular DVD if you're not a fan of the pod race. ALL THEY TALK ABOUT is the pod race. :headache:
Love the ToT pic with Yeti!

…those people blocking the fast pass lane…almost as bad as tour groups…almost…

…not really AS annoying as the tour groups but still...

The people blocking the FP actually bother me more than the tour groups do. :rotfl2:

My favorite ride in that park is Tower of Terror, and my second favorite is Star Tours - although I know nothing about Star Wars. I like the ride just for the ride itself. Since I also nothing about Avatar, I'm thinking the big ride in Avatarland will also be one I can enjoy very much without really knowing about the theme.

No more of those paper Fastpasses. It's kinda sad to me. They were such 'treasures.' :) Something about having a FP on my band and not something tangible in my hand is not quite as exciting, but I'm sure I will get used to it like I do with any other Disney change.

I'm definitely a believer that you don't need to be a big fan of something to get enjoyment out of the ride. Star Tours certainly falls into that category. I am a big Star Wars fan, but I know I would enjoy Star Tours even if I wasn't.

I'm really looking forward to Avatarland. I just want to see how it all pans out. The movie is visually stunning, so I'm excited to see what Disney does with it.

That picture of your dad on ToT is AWESOME! He is just having too much fun! Love it! :thumbsup2

OK, I forget what else I wanted to say.

Yes - you do look totally different. Great that you got to catch up with another DISer turned CM. And planning a Disney wedding must be so awesome.

I'm so glad Yeti enjoyed Star Wars and even got his own pair of glasses. :thumbsup2

Fun Update!

He is always having tons of fun. With Disney, he's so easy to please.

I'm sure she's having tons of fun planning her Disney wedding. I know I would be!

Yeti felt that he was special enough to get a pair of glasses this time. :lmao:

Oh Yeah - love the MB bling! Very cute!

I liked the cover. The band wasn't uncomfortable to start with, but the cover made it even more comfortable.

I like the cloth covering! I've been looking at the thread on the DIS with people who decorate their MBs and I'm dying to try it. And by try it, I mean have my mom decorate it for me because she's the artsy one.

We caught the end of a Jedi training this August and it was adorable! You would be a hilarious Jedi master.

Paper FPs, may you rest in peace.

Your TOT pic is perfect! I really need a stuffed animal to take on rides.

To answer your question, yes it counts as fruit if there's fruit in it. Or it's fruit flavored.

Hahaha, I'm not incredibly artsy either. Not anymore at least. I just stick with what Disney provides. :rotfl:

I would love to be a Jedi Master! What a fun job, right?

I thought I would miss the paper FP's....I don't. Likely because I was always the chosen FP holder.

I love having Yeti. He's such a conversation piece sometimes, which I find awesome. There was a time when I was tossing up carrying a Domo around with me, but Yeti has significance because one of my best friends brought him back for me from her trip to Disney.

I bought a cloth covering for my band, but I didn't like it. I had such a hard time being able to find the mickey head for the FP and getting in etc. :confused3

I love watching the kids at the Jedi training (so wish they had that when our boys were young).

:woohoo::woohoo::woohoo: for a DIS meet.

Love the pics on Tower of Terror.

And great photopass pics on the way out of the park.

Your mom and dad crack me up! I love the tram picture.

I didn't have a super hard time with the covering, once I got used to it. It took a little bit though, I'm not gonna lie. :rotfl2:

I wish they had it when we were younger too, because the boys and I would have absolutely done it.

My Mom and Dad literally have no shame whatsoever. It's one of the things that I love most about them.

It's amazing how much difference there is between the third week of December versus the third week of January when it comes to crowd volumes - I was at Hollywood Studios on December 17, and was able to ride Star Tours, at midday, standby, four times in a row, with no waits the first three times, and only a 10 minute wait the fourth time...

It was pretty crowded, due to the fact that it was President's Day weekend. We were expecting it though. The actual line to Star Tours wasn't too long though. We just wanted to use our FP+.

Cute that Yeti got his own glasses at Star Tours. He really should have been the Rebel Spy, though...that would have been awesome! :rotfl2:

Glad that you, Popadon, and Yeti got front row at ToT this time. Nice picture!

I think you would be a great Jedi Master!

How awesome would that be if he was the rebel spy?!

I'm not kidding, I would absolutely love to be a Jedi Master for Jedi Training.

hahaha, I love the "duck face" I don't get it either so it's nice to see a few people making fun of them!!! :lmao:

On vacation, any fruit or vegetable counts!!!!!!:thumbsup2

I honestly don't get the duck face at all. Like, why can't you just smile? You think it looks cute? Anytime you see me doing a duck face in a picture, know that it's sarcastic. :rotfl2:

Love Yeti with his glasses. He was ready for his Star Tours adventure. :thumbsup2

Your Jedi Training Academy story was hilarious. I wonder how many other people watching caught on to his "sans digit" joke?

Do folks really try and argue their Fastpass time? So you have to wait another 5 minutes to go in, it's not the end of the world, people. Noneed to get up in arms about it and block everyone else.
I don't get it...:confused3

Your dad looks like he's having a blast on that ToT ride photo.

I wondered how many people caught the "sans" thing too. It's not a super common word that's used, so it piqued my curiosity. Often, you know, people laugh when they know something is funny, but don't quite get it. :lmao:

People will argue just about anything I've learned. And I've witnessed it often in Disney. Wait time. FP return time. No reservation but I deserve a table. It amazes me.

I've heard the "jibbitz" fall off anyway, so good call on avoiding those. :thumbsup2

Oh God YES!!!!! People hovering around the FP entrance waiting out their time drives... me... :crazy2: And then after all that to get the pod race... the bane if my existance... :headache:

Contraband FPs??? I see no guilt in that face.

"Being cute does not get you everything you want in life." AMEN (the exception of course being votes on American Idol, :sad2:).

Hmmm... you're family hat photo looks so... normal. What happened????

I heard that they fell off too which is why I wasn't really interested in getting them. I mean, they were cute, but I wasn't in the mood to constantly be worried about whether or not it was attached to my band.

Ugh, the pod race is the bane of my existence too. I seem to be cursed with it.

No, he wasn't guilty about the contraband FP's at all. He was more than happy to use them.

Oh yes, being cute does get you far on reality competitions. I admit that. But in life? Yeah, you try to act cute when you jacked up a report that I needed you to deliver to me. That will get this face from me.

I know! I try to act normal sometimes you know! We have it somewhere in us.

Just reading about the girls trying to get in on the FP line just by being "cute" really irritates me. It reminded me of my high school days! There was these two girls I was in competition with to be the salutatorian (the valedictorian was so far ahead of us that she was safe in her spot!). One girl decided to CHEAT her way to get higher grades. I know that because she asked one of my close friends if she could cheat off of her! And then the other girl who was considered pretty flirted with the male teachers after each report card came out and would be like, "I'm being considered for salutatorian; do you think you can raise my grade?" SO DISGUSTING! Like if you're going to beat me because you are a better student than I am, by all means. But it makes me so angry when girls try to get ahead by using cuteness or looks. BLECH. Neither of them beat me though, so HAH.

Oh dear, and the duck face thing too!!! Now that there's Instagram and I can openly stalk some of my former students, I'm so tired of seeing those dang duck faces. Like picture after picture, their lips don't know how to form a smile. And I LOVE my students/former students. As they move into HS, they start losing their awkwardness, but then they add on the idiocy by taking all those selfies and group selfies especially in the bathroom like, every single day.

But what do I know cuz clearly during my teenage years, I just deal with my glasses, braces, and bob haircut and studied.

Oh man, that's the kind of stuff that just irritates me. I worked in retail for a long time, and believe me, some stores do consider your looks when they hire. Some retail establishments will offer you a job or interview on the spot just because "they like your look". I understand brand image, but I can't TELL YOU how many cute girls we hired at our store that failed miserably, because they came to the realization that they actually had to do work! What a shock.

I admit, I crack up at people in IG and their duck faces. I can't help it. They are just so clueless to how stupid they look.

I was pretty awkward in my teenage years too. My early teen years were the worst!

Your band cover is very cute, was it OK to swim with it on?

The FP hoverers really annoy me too, just get out of the way and let me through :rotfl2:

Loving all your crazy photos :rotfl:

We didn't actually go swimming on this trip. The temperature dropped during the trip and it was never warm enough.

Right! I just want to start yelling at people to get out of the way.

I always scream at random times on TT too, mostly after the ride comes out of the elevator shaft and starts moving. I just start clapping and "WOO"ing to psych myself up! That ride makes me so happy. And it's pretty good for a back stretch!

It's so fun, right?! I just like scaring people, honestly.

I like how this picture makes you look like you have one of the tiny mickey ear hats on!

Sans is an awsome word! We had a friend who named one of his cats Sans since the cat was born with no tail!

The PP photographer actually mentioned the ears after he took the picture. We thought it was pretty funny.

That's a great cat name! I love stuff like that. I am also a fan of pretentious cat names as well. I almost named my cat Titus Andronicus, but then found out she was a girl. I didn't work out so well. :rotfl2:

Oh Yeti definitely knows how to work the camera. Maybe I should try to get him to get me in the FP line.....

I always say one day one of us will be the rebel spy...still waiting on that day to come!! Love the ToT picture!! Yeti has the best adventures!!:goodvibes

One day you will! I find it's more likely if you end up in row 2 or 3.

"Just Ask the Padawan Sans Digits....."
Love it! I love the new MB bling too, I thought about getting a cover too but I never actually did. :confused3

I hate the pod race. Never watch the special features on that particular DVD if you're not a fan of the pod race. ALL THEY TALK ABOUT is the pod race. :headache:
Love the ToT pic with Yeti!

It was so clever, I loved it.

Ugh, they kill me with that. I haven't watched the special features on the DVD, so I will make sure to avoid them, so I don't get anymore pod race. :lmao:

Yay awesome updates!!

Love the TOT stuff, minus the fp blockage of course, I have noticed that with the plus, and the scanning of the bands, it takes just so much longer to get through the line than just showing a paper fp, that, and no more souvenirs that are free and as cool as paper fps that you didn't use! Lol.

So, I started throwing a little I-can’t-keep-up tantrum, but I managed to stop myself and just get caught up. Phew!

Too bad you got totally blocked on the ToT pic, but your dad’s pose is PRICELESS! Why am I acting like I’m surprised or something??? :confused3

It was fun to hear about Min and Bill’s! That’s not a place you see reviewed a lot - I never even remember it’s there.

How totally weird about the Jack Sparrow thing! I wonder what that was all about. I mean, this thing has not exactly gotten rave reviews; it seems hard to believe that they would need people to sign up ahead. So strange!

OMG! I love that you have plans to visit Tokyo Disney!!!! That is so cool. I have friends who may move back to Japan in the next 5 or so years - we will SO be going to visit them, and you know we’d have to check out Tokyo disney too!

Oh, I love the Minnie Mouse MB cover! I’m scheming how to make my own….. ;)

I think you would make a great Jedi Master!

Your second ToT photo turned out great!

I noticed that too. I'm sure they will get it figured out soon enough though. I think it's mostly a matter of people getting used to the process.

I still have TONS of souvie paper FP's. :thumbsup2

I'm trying to be much more efficient with this one, because I really don't want to be running 20,000 TR's at the same time! :rotfl2:

I know, no one should be surprised about my Dad's dorkiness anymore. He's completely out in the open on our TR's.

I had to make plans to go to Tokyo Disney, basically because of the price it costs to get there!

Day 3 - Sunday January 19, 2014 Cont.

"Ohana Really Means.....Stuff Your Face"

We had just left off on the tram heading back to our car at DHS. Now, let's remember, we're parked out in Timbukthree according to Popadon. Let's demonstrate this.

You see those teeny weeny cars all the way in the back........if you could see past those...THAT'S where our car was.

After our hefty trek back to the car, we headed back to Saratoga Springs. The plan was to relax for a little while. Mom mentioned being a little tired from the trip down (Sadly....this is foreshadowing for later in the trip), so we figured we would chill out for a while.

We went to the Artist Palette to fill our mugs (I'm clever, and I bring them in the car, so I can swing through and get something to drink). Remember, no soda for me, so iced tea is the name of the game.

I took a picture of this fountain in the courtyard, which I thought was really pretty.

I took the opportunity to type up notes for my trip journal. Mom hand writes hers still. I can't do that anymore, because it would take me forever, based on the obscene amount of words I use. At this point in the trip, I was already on page 8 of the word document I had created. And to clarify. I type up to 60 words a minute, and I can spend a minimum of an hour typing about 1/2 a day. I got issues.

Before we headed off for our dinner reservation, we got changed. The temperature was going to start dropping, so I wanted to wear something long sleeved. Plus, it gave me an opportunity to wear one of my new awesome Disney shirts.

It's my favorite one I think. Of all the ones that I purchased. And believe me, I purchased many.

Now, based on my chapter title, you clearly know where we would be going for dinner. I scored a first seating time at Ohana when I made our reservations. We left Saratoga around 4:30pm. One of the great things about having a car at Disney is not needing to leave for a reservation 5 hours before your actual reservation time.

We made it to the resort around 4:50ish.

This is my favorite resort ever. It holds a special place in my heart. I think because, when I was young, we never stayed there. It was just far too expensive. It's still pretty "expensive" for us point wise with DVC. So, I'm excited about the expansion. I know many people aren't, but I'm thrilled.

I mean come on! What's not to love about this resort? I absolutely love the smell. A lot of people love the smell of the Beach Club. I do too, but this one holds so many memories for me for some reason. I can smell it now just looking at the pictures.

We checked in and were given our pager. I do like that they moved the podium away from the restaurant. When it was right next to Kona, they crowds used to blend together causing problems. I like the set up next to the stairs better.

I tried to get a picture of the sign to the restaurant, but there were people standing right in front of it. I tried to maneuver around them so they weren't in my shot. Didn't turn out so well.

Since we were part of the first seating, our buzzer went off almost immediately. Nice to be in the restaurant before it got jam packed full of people.

We got a seat right next to a window, which Yeti thoroughly enjoyed.

Can I have a moment to talk about this salad? Because I want to take a moment. I LOVED it. So so much. Everything about it. The dressing, the mandarin oranges in it. It was perfect. I could have eaten that alone. Well, no, that's a lie. I like the idea of unlimited meat.

Mom and I both ordered Lapu Lapu's. I think I enjoy this drink more because of the fact that I like people to look at me, and nothing says LOOK AT ME more than drinking out of an entire pineapple.

Do I have center of attention syndrome? Absolutely not.

No, Yeti did not get his own Lapu Lapu. I was kind enough to share with him. Just a bit.

Up first were the potstickers and the coriander chicken wings. The wings were soooo good.

Potstickers were okay. Nothing amazing, but good.

The noodles and the vegetables were highlights of the meal for me. The noodles were so good. If you mix the peanut sauce in them (which our server recommended), it definitely takes it up a notch.

All of the meats were extremely yummy. The only complaint (if you could call it a complaint), is that I wish they did the steak more like Texas de Brazil does. They have their skewer and they give you the ability to choose between medium rare and medium. They didn't have that option here, so they were all medium. I eat my steak rare (yes.....no medium, just rare), so it was a little overcooked for my taste.

Dad had wine with his dinner. Which apparently he was really sad about. Why?

Well....I asked my Mom to pass me more bread. She ripped the piece off, and passed it to me directly over Dad's wine glass. And then bread crumbs fell in. And not little pieces, like totally big mammer jammers fell in there!

So Mom figured she would apologize to Pop by giving him a kiss on his bright shiny head.

Mom also enjoyed her lapu lapu. At this point, I had made a comment to her that she was an amateur and needed to drink her drink faster. This was her response to me.

And then....the coup de grace of this meal came.

Now, the rules of our dining reservations for this trip were simple. We no longer do the dining plan. I can't justify the cost when I don't eat the quantity of food that the dining plan calls for anymore. We also did not want to do a table service every day, since we had implemented a budget for ourselves. So, all three of us were allowed to pick a restaurant that was "new to us". It didn't matter if another one of us in the group had eaten there, you couldn't question the person's choice. Now, Mom was sweet, and knew Dad had been tossing up between this restaurant and his inevitable choice. So she "picked" Ohana for dinner. That's what 42 years of marriage will get you folks. That's sacrifice!

Ohana for dinner was new to all three of us. We'd only ever eaten there for breakfast. A travesty, I know. But, I knew the bread pudding was fabled. I knew that Jen (Nermel9) literally dies over it. I had high expectations.

Did it disappoint?

Not in the least! It is one of the best desserts on Disney property I've ever had. Now, I'm a huge chocolate lover. So for me to love a dessert that doesn't have chocolate in it? Crazy!

Yeti was food drunk. It happens. I was pretty food drunk too.

Overall rating: 4/5
Would I return: YES!

Okay, the only reason I took it down from a 5 to a 4 is simply because of my issue with the beef being overcooked. But that's because of personal preference, so if you're a medium steak kind of a person, then you're in luck! The highlight of the meal was absolutely the bread pudding. Mom was kind enough to let me polish it off. Dad had a small serving (due to his diabetes) and proclaimed it super yummy! We had a good server, so none of the service problems that I've heard before plagued us on this visit, so that was definitely a plus.

Tummy's full, food drunk, we ventured out into the world. Well, to the monorail at least.

Up next: Mickey.....just.....TALKED!!!!

Look at you bein all smart and bringing the mugs with you! YOU GO GLEN COCO!!

Super cute shirt!! I kinda really wish I had bought a bunch of the stuff from hot topic but the shipping was way to pricey to ship up here, and I kinda just stopped caring before one of my states friends said to just ship it there lol! One day!!

Ahahha yes…leaving 5 hours before your adr time…#sotrue

I LOVE the Poly, and clearly, if there’s a dvc, it means I can rent points, and thus, it’s cheaper, and I am therefore game on whatever kind of expansion is happening! I think the Poly is next on my “repeat” resorts, if I’m solo or just with Steven, or for a quick trip. I love it there SO MUCH, but most of my friends can’t afford deluxe resorts lol…sometimes it pays to only spend money on Disney! :P It’s lobby is definitely one of those that has an amazing smell and is just amazing. I love it.

Lapu lapu’s are delicious. I feel like they are more delicious because they are served in a pineapple. I also feel like a trip to the Polynesian may be in order in November, because I would like to be drinking out of a pineapple and sitting on a beach right now… #sigh

I loved the noodles!! So much tasty!! I also had the same thing with the beef, I like mine rare, so it wasn’t a winner for the meat portions when we ate there. Bahahha! Bread in the wine, whoops!

Glad you guys enjoyed ohana so much! I really did like it, despite it not happening on a so great day lol, it was still an enjoyable experience, and I would totally go back, and that bread pudding!SO YUMMY!

Ohana looks yummy.

Too bad I'll never try it because of all my food allergies.

Love the Poly pics! It really is a beautiful place, isn’t it?

Your Center of Attention, oh, I mean Lapu Lapu, looked really tasty. ;) Looks like Yeti may have enjoyed it as much as you did! Glad you enjoyed your ‘Ohana meal.

I love the idea that you each picked one new-to-you restaurant! What a really fun way to do it.

It's been awhile since I have eaten at Ohana's - mostly because my last meal there was like 2 hours long. :faint: and they never bring the shrimp until I'm full. Boo!

But those chicken wings, noodles, and broccoli. I could totally make a meal out of that.

And, you're right - nothing does say "look at me" quite as much as a lapu lapu does. :rotfl2:

Fun meal with lots of great pictures of the gang. And Yeti, too!

The Poly is really so beautiful. I can't say that I've ever noticed a smell in there, but then I've not really been there much!
We haven't done 'Ohana. I can't see us trying either, we wouldn't eat most of it. I'm glad you mentioned that there's no option on the steak because my DH would be the opposite of you -- he eats his well done and wouldn't want any pink at all! That dessert though... some day I really need to try that!!

Ohana - we must have had a chef who appreciated meat cooked rare, or at least medium rare, because we had some steak that wasn't cooked to death. I had the most delicious gluten free chicken wings, too. :goodvibes

I could see wearing those widgets on the Magic Bands in the warm weather, but not when wearing long sleeves. I had enough trouble pulling that band out from under my jacket sleeve when going through the touch styles without any widgets on it. They'd be popping off all the time if I had a jacket on.

Adorable shirt!

I'm with you on writing way too much for way too long. I tried handwriting my notes in December, ending up stopping after the 2nd day. :rotfl: I imagine typing to be a much better experience.

I'm really glad to hear your O'hana dinner was a success. Alex begged me to stalk the Disney dining page in hopes of scoring a meal there. I ended up getting a 5 o'clock one for May, and after reading your review I"m glad I did.

I'm also relieved to hear the dessert is still amazing without any chocolate.
I had my worries.:rotfl:

I wish I could have been another guest dining that night to have been able to witness Yeti stealing sips from your Lapu Lapu. :rotfl2: You gotta keep your eye on him...
