That Foo's Boo Is Incredible!!! - Jan 14 TR *THE END 7/19 Pg. 51*

Had a LOT to catch up to! First, let me just say that I have to Yeti props for his driving skills. Driving out of Chicago is no small feat. I also had a chuckle because you could tell you were heading south as your chicken provider went from KFC to Chick Fil A :lmao:

Great first day so far! Yes, I too had that empty feeling when I no longer had to rush to pull the paper FPs at TSMM after rope drop.

Gotta love those folks with their raised hands on ToT! :lmao: It's like they're saying to the camera "Look! My seatbelt actually works and keeps my rear from lifting no further than an inch from my seat!"

Oh no, so sad that pretzel dog thingy at Min and Bill's wasn't good. Yours was the second review I read that said ick to the mustard inside the hot dog. At least the Yeti looks like he is enjoying the brew.

Your mom and dad modeling those hats are classic. They are so them. :thumbsup2

Your TSMM skills truly amaze. I would look up those Easter egg hints but I know I will forgot them 5 minutes later. It is good to see you as a TSMM superstar.

Note to Camille: I may be anal in organization but I try to not let it interfere with friendships! I'm not scared of being room mates. :rotfl2:

I did like the pretzel dog...but then I love spicy mustard:banana::banana:

UGH!!!!!!!!! Everywhere I turn there is a Packer fan. I saw so many Packer clothes people this weekend in Iowa. But I'm used to it since my "dropped on his head at birth" youngest son is a Packer fan. :rotfl2::rotfl2:

Love the TOT picture...well, what I can see of your Dad anyway.

And the hat pictures had me :rotfl:

I don't think I've heard much about the diner you tried for lunch. Perhaps we shall give that a try in September.

I cry during One Man's Dream every single time.

There's part of me that wonders sometimes with any team how many people are bandwagoners and how many are actual fans. :rotfl2:

It's an easy, outdoor spot. The portion sizes were perfect for what we wanted. I liked it very much.

Me too!! Like a baby.

I definitely appreciated the extra info you provided in your review of Min & Bill's! I know at the end of the day everyone's tastes are different, but I love reading what DIS friends say about food items because I believe that friends' opinions are more trustworthy than just Googling and finding random ones, haha.

Cuz of the list of Easter eggs on TSMM, Howard and I are DYING to go back even though we just recently returned home!!!

I like reading what people say too. It encourages me to try other places that I haven't eaten at before. We stopped there more out of the fact that it was there and what was on the menu looked good. :thumbsup2

I'm always dying to go back even though I just got home!!!

I had heard the term "Easter egg" used on the "Blink" episode of Doctor Who, but I didn't know that it was used by gamers. Now I'll have to look for the green alien level and see what happens. Thanks. :)

The green alien one is the easiest one to unlock. :)

I'm not sure how I missed you starting another trip report but I did. You're only on day 3 so there is still plenty to read I'm sure. Glad I found it!

Glad you're here! There is definitely plenty more to read coming up.

I miss two weeks and dang Girl!!! You got me all behind again! :lmao:

Your mom is My Mom!!! The food she packed sounded so much like my mom! I tell her we need a b and c and she brings A B AND C PLUS D!!
:lmao: Your dad is MY husband...a laugh a minute! And there are people that don't like new crayons?! As a matter of fact I now feel the need to make a purchase!

Chick-fil-A breakfast, lunch and dinner...my fave!!! And they seriously have some of the best coffee for a fast food place!!! Glad the Magic Bands are working for you...we had a minor glitch too but once cleared up I loved the bands! Your mom's score mimics mine on TSMM...every single time! I can't seem to get higher. Need to remember the "eggs". Oh and One Man's Dream...our must do! When Shirley Temple Black passed away this past week, I had to pull up the Oscar bit with Walt for "Snow White"! Okay...I skipped a lot but this reply is already so long!! :lmao::rotfl2:

It totally feels like that doesn't it!? Like, you miss a little bit of time and you're completely behind on everything. LOL.

My Mom has always been a food overpacker. But we love her for it and we know that we would never go hungry. LOL.

We didn't think to try the coffee at Chick-fil-a, so I'm going to have to remember that for the future when we're on the road down there again.

Looks great!!

Thanks! I really liked creating the looks every day.

This is our family's experience every time we drive to AK (the only park we drive to)!! Like, every time!

Right?! I feel like I'm cursed, because we always end up in la-la land in the middle of nowhere in the parking lot!

I know what you mean! We were in WDW over NYE and it was definitely different...FP+ allowed us to actually get on rides (like TSM for the First Time Ever since it has opened!) but weird to not have any downtime between rides.

I feel like FP+ will be a great tool during really busy times of year. I would have loved to have it when I took my last New Year's trip two years ago!

DD is not a fan of this or any other ride that involves heights, either!! She just sits them out so kudos to your mom for being brave!

We definitely don't make her do anything she doesn't want to, but I think it's part of her dealing with her fear. Try to overcome it once in a while.

I totally agree! It actually looks like a wig?

Exactly! That's what I thought.

I keep forgetting that DHS has beer! The Pilsner sounds good!

It was a decent beer. I always forget they have beer too.

Ok, I don't even know what this is!? Is it a show or a ride?

It's a show of sorts. More like an exhibit I think.

I never went as a child (poor me, I know), but I know what you mean...since my first trip 18 years ago, things have changed!

Things have definitely changed! Epcot I feel has changed the most and I miss the original parts.

Oh no, so sad that pretzel dog thingy at Min and Bill's wasn't good. Yours was the second review I read that said ick to the mustard inside the hot dog. At least the Yeti looks like he is enjoying the brew.

It would have been exponentially more tasty if I could control the hot dog to mustard ratio. But, what can you do right? ;)

I have to remind myself of the easter eggs before I get on, don't worry. The only one I can consistently remember is the Alien one! :rotfl2:

Just checking in !! Can't miss an update!!!

I'm going to be typing one up shortly actually! ;)

Had a LOT to catch up to! First, let me just say that I have to Yeti props for his driving skills. Driving out of Chicago is no small feat. I also had a chuckle because you could tell you were heading south as your chicken provider went from KFC to Chick Fil A :lmao:

Right? KFC to Chick-fil-a was definitely a step up. I am typically not a KFC fan, but I also didn't want something like McDonalds. The hazard of road travel.

It was weird, right? Not having anywhere to go at that initial moment upon entering the park.

I did like the pretzel dog...but then I love spicy mustard:banana::banana:

I knew you would love it.

Day 3 - Sunday January 19, 2014

"Just Ask the Padawan Sans Digits....."

After we wrapped up our time at One Man's Dream, we were getting somewhat close to our FP+ return time for Star Tours. But before we did that, I had a hankering. A hankering for some MB swag!!!! I had already decided that I didn't want any of the jibbitz style things. Let's be real, they're jibbitz right? Like for Crocs, to me at least. But I did want to get one of the cloth coverings. Why? Because I could. :rotfl2:

This is what I decided on. Classic Minnie polka dots.

After we picked out our swag, we meandered over to the Star Tours area.

Gotta take a picture of the big man on campus on the way.

When we arrived, we had about 10 minutes to spare. So we figured, why not hang out and watch Jedi Training Academy while we were there? Watching Jedi Training Academy is one of my favorite things to do. I love watching all of the little kids having so much fun. It was definitely a highlight on our July trip with the boys, which I will likely be talking about in a simultaneous update.

We were pretty far back, so this was the best I could do with pictures.

The Jedi Master training this time around was pretty funny. I would KILL for that job. For real, to just be able to play around and crack jokes all day? I would love that. The best line was this one:

"Now, if you can't get your training lightsaber to open up, just go ahead, grab the lightsaber, and pull it out. Now, obviously you would never want to do this with a REAL lightsaber. Just ask the Padawan Sans Digits."

1) I love humor like this.
2) Sans is one of my favorite words EVER! (the life of a reading dork)
3) Kids won't understand it, which makes it even better.

That's why I want that job!!!!

Anyhoodle, at that point it was time for us to head in to use our FP+. There was a mild jam up at the FP+ entrance, mainly because people were hanging around the area, because their time hadn't arrived yet. I mean, this isn't a new problem, this existed with old school FP too. Drives me bananas!

We all had to model our beautiful glasses, with silly faces of course.

Cheese!

We got the pod race. Not my favorite, but hey. What can you do? None of us were the rebel spies either, but I knew that already because we were all the way in the last row.

After that, it was almost time for us to use our contraband fast passes. Ssshhhhhhhh.....

Mom was sitting this one out, because we only had 2 FPs to speak of, and she only rides ToT once a trip. On the way though, I was going to stop by the food area on Sunset Boulevard, because Megan was supposed to be working (Tinkerbellvr7). And she was at Toluca Leg Company! I didn't get a picture, because she was working and fairly busy, so we kept our interaction short. However, for reference, here's my picture of us together on my November 2011 trip. Yes, I look totally different now.

It was nice to get to see her again. She's planning her Disney wedding right now, which is in July. So exciting! :hyper:

We headed down Sunset Boulevard towards ToT, Mom set up shop on a bench, and I asked Dad how he felt about our contraband FPs?

We headed in to the FP lane, and were jammed up behind two things. One were people insistently trying to get in, even though their return time had not arrived yet. Then, these two teenage girls start to try to sweet talk the CM to let them in, even though they had no FP at all! Some people I tell you. Which leads me to say:

"Just because you're cute, or believe you're cute, does not give you the ability to get on the ride faster. Being cute does not get you everything you want in life."

That is all.

FINALLY.......we got through the FP+ gate. I say finally, when in reality it took like 2 minutes. But you know. Gotta make it dramatic.

Pop and I had a lot of fun on this one. We got the front row, so no fear of hands in my face. Woo hoo! We got another awesome CM at our elevator. She just kept getting in everyone's faces while we were waiting in line and tried to stare them down. So I got in her face and tried to stare her down right back at her.

The ride was awesome as usual. I randomly screamed, as I always do. The girl next to my Pop apologized in advance if she grabbed on to his arm, since the ride scared her. He told her no problem, because Mom wasn't there he had an arm free. And here was the result of our PP...

Let's close up on that.

The CM at the PP location even commented on Yeti and how awesome he was! I told her "I know. He's pretty great...." We had a good laugh about it and she told me to make sure I took him on plenty of adventures and documented them appropriately. Of course I will!!!

We collected Momma at that point and made our way out of the park. We had an early dinner reservation to make it to, so we wanted to get freshened up and put warmer clothes on. I knew the temps would drop for the evening. But first, we had to get some pictures on the way out.

We were out of the park and at the tram shortly after that. Normally we walk to our car, but the tram was already there, so we figured we would take it. Why not, right?

We've got issues.

I like to make fun of duck faces. Mainly because I don't understand their purpose.

Up next: Does it count as fruit if it has fruit in it?

…those people blocking the fast pass lane…almost as bad as tour groups…almost…

…not really AS annoying as the tour groups but still...

My favorite ride in that park is Tower of Terror, and my second favorite is Star Tours - although I know nothing about Star Wars. I like the ride just for the ride itself. Since I also nothing about Avatar, I'm thinking the big ride in Avatarland will also be one I can enjoy very much without really knowing about the theme.

No more of those paper Fastpasses. It's kinda sad to me. They were such 'treasures.' :) Something about having a FP on my band and not something tangible in my hand is not quite as exciting, but I'm sure I will get used to it like I do with any other Disney change.

That picture of your dad on ToT is AWESOME! He is just having too much fun! Love it! :thumbsup2

OK, I forget what else I wanted to say.

Yes - you do look totally different. Great that you got to catch up with another DISer turned CM. And planning a Disney wedding must be so awesome.

I'm so glad Yeti enjoyed Star Wars and even got his own pair of glasses. :thumbsup2

Fun Update!

I like the cloth covering! I've been looking at the thread on the DIS with people who decorate their MBs and I'm dying to try it. And by try it, I mean have my mom decorate it for me because she's the artsy one.

We caught the end of a Jedi training this August and it was adorable! You would be a hilarious Jedi master.

Paper FPs, may you rest in peace.

Your TOT pic is perfect! I really need a stuffed animal to take on rides.

To answer your question, yes it counts as fruit if there's fruit in it. Or it's fruit flavored.

I bought a cloth covering for my band, but I didn't like it. I had such a hard time being able to find the mickey head for the FP and getting in etc. :confused3

I love watching the kids at the Jedi training (so wish they had that when our boys were young).

:woohoo::woohoo::woohoo: for a DIS meet.

Love the pics on Tower of Terror.

And great photopass pics on the way out of the park.

Your mom and dad crack me up! I love the tram picture.

It's amazing how much difference there is between the third week of December versus the third week of January when it comes to crowd volumes - I was at Hollywood Studios on December 17, and was able to ride Star Tours, at midday, standby, four times in a row, with no waits the first three times, and only a 10 minute wait the fourth time...

Cute that Yeti got his own glasses at Star Tours. He really should have been the Rebel Spy, though...that would have been awesome! :rotfl2:

Glad that you, Popadon, and Yeti got front row at ToT this time. Nice picture!

I think you would be a great Jedi Master!

hahaha, I love the "duck face" I don't get it either so it's nice to see a few people making fun of them!!! :lmao:

On vacation, any fruit or vegetable counts!!!!!!:thumbsup2

Love Yeti with his glasses. He was ready for his Star Tours adventure. :thumbsup2

Your Jedi Training Academy story was hilarious. I wonder how many other people watching caught on to his "sans digit" joke?

Do folks really try and argue their Fastpass time? So you have to wait another 5 minutes to go in, it's not the end of the world, people. Noneed to get up in arms about it and block everyone else.
I don't get it...:confused3

Your dad looks like he's having a blast on that ToT ride photo.

I've heard the "jibbitz" fall off anyway, so good call on avoiding those. :thumbsup2

Oh God YES!!!!! People hovering around the FP entrance waiting out their time drives... me... :crazy2: And then after all that to get the pod race... the bane if my existance... :headache:

Contraband FPs??? I see no guilt in that face.

"Being cute does not get you everything you want in life." AMEN (the exception of course being votes on American Idol, :sad2:).

Hmmm... you're family hat photo looks so... normal. What happened????

Just reading about the girls trying to get in on the FP line just by being "cute" really irritates me. It reminded me of my high school days! There was these two girls I was in competition with to be the salutatorian (the valedictorian was so far ahead of us that she was safe in her spot!). One girl decided to CHEAT her way to get higher grades. I know that because she asked one of my close friends if she could cheat off of her! And then the other girl who was considered pretty flirted with the male teachers after each report card came out and would be like, "I'm being considered for salutatorian; do you think you can raise my grade?" SO DISGUSTING! Like if you're going to beat me because you are a better student than I am, by all means. But it makes me so angry when girls try to get ahead by using cuteness or looks. BLECH. Neither of them beat me though, so HAH.

Oh dear, and the duck face thing too!!! Now that there's Instagram and I can openly stalk some of my former students, I'm so tired of seeing those dang duck faces. Like picture after picture, their lips don't know how to form a smile. And I LOVE my students/former students. As they move into HS, they start losing their awkwardness, but then they add on the idiocy by taking all those selfies and group selfies especially in the bathroom like, every single day.

But what do I know cuz clearly during my teenage years, I just deal with my glasses, braces, and bob haircut and studied.

Your band cover is very cute, was it OK to swim with it on?

The FP hoverers really annoy me too, just get out of the way and let me through :rotfl2:

Loving all your crazy photos :rotfl:

I always scream at random times on TT too, mostly after the ride comes out of the elevator shaft and starts moving. I just start clapping and "WOO"ing to psych myself up! That ride makes me so happy. And it's pretty good for a back stretch!
