Hi. I'm new here. :wave2:

We were thinking of going to Disney World the week of Thanksgiving, probably going on Monday and returning the day after Thanksgiving. We will be bringing our 8 year old and 16 month old.

Is this a bad time of the year to go?

We have been there twice, but always in early November. This time the only week my DH could get vacation is the week of Thanksgiving.

Thanks for any advice you can give us.

Mary

We'll be there the week of Thanksgiving this year. My understanding from a friend who was there last year, is that the days prior to Thanksgiving are not that busy, but it gets busy on Thanksgiving and the weekend.

Well Early November is surely a lot less crowded BUT... if you go that week you get to see more Christmas decorations since many should be up. Also even if it is crowded... it should be fun going over a holiday!!
I'm sure many more people will be by to give more info on this!!! Good luck!!:)

It's a very busy week. Not quite as bad as Easter or Christmas week, but comparable to summer crowds. Monday and Tuesday are lower crowd days, Wednesday through Saturday are very croweded. You will see lots of the Christmas decorations going up though. The resorts are pretty much decorated and the parks are decorated the day after Thanksgiving. If you can delay your trip to the following week you'll experience far less people in the parks...

If it's the only time you can go, do as much as you can on Monday and Tuesday. Definitely hit the Magic Kingdom on one of those days. And then do MGM on the other. If you're going to venture into the parks on Thanksgiving, Epcot is the best park to hit with big crowds. Also, be sure to make your priority seatings at the 90 day mark...especially for Thanksgiving Day.

we went Thanksgiving 2002 (and we're going back this year!!!). I didn't think the parks were overly crowded, I mean, after all it is a holiday week, but it really wasn't that bad. We arrived early Wednesday & left late Sunday afternoon.

We did go to MK Thanksgiving night after the big crowds left, we did Epcot during the day. I did notice that on Sunday morning/early afternoon, the crowds really thinned out.. everyone must have been at the airport!! because we could actually walk down the sidewalk right before the parade began.

Hey llp479~ I'll see you there!!!

Thank you everyone. I think we'll go for it! We'll try to see most of the good stuff early in the week.
