Anyone have the Thanksgiving Dinner last year at HH?

We have three families adding up to 12 (7 adults and 5 kids) that are going to HH for Thanksgiving.

We have three 1 BR villas (well, one family has a studio for 2 nights and are waitlisted for the 1BR)

One of the families was down at HH last year and remembered some offering of a Turkey dinner....but they went out for dinner, so they don't have any info about it.

We wanted to get an idea of the cost, the portions (how many people does a "feast" feed?), and the quality of food.

Anyone do this last year?

Also, any suggestions on how all of us can eat together on site? I called HH and they told me they do not have any meeting room, or room for rent that we could reserve. They did say that they have some tables outside, and that we could bring our own table, but our concern is if it is rainy or cold.

There is a Thanksgiving dinner offered by the resort. It's either roast or deep-fried turkey with all the sides. They will deliver it to your villa at the time you request, along with directions for re-warming. We have never gotten the resort's dinner (I always do a "semi-homemade" dinner in the villa), but all reports have said the food is good and plentiful.

As far as where to eat, one year we had three families (a total of 15 people, I think) and we all ate in a 2BR. Two of the families were in the same building, so it wasn't too difficult to bring things from one room to another, including dinnerware, etc. since a 2BR only has enough place settings for 8.

Fortunately, the weather was great, so we could use the picnic table on the porch, the table in the dining area, and the coffee table for eating. We used the island between the kitchen and living room for serving. It was a little cozy, but it was one of the best Thanksgivings ever!

In a 1BR, you'll be a little more crowded, even if you can use the porch. But you're right, if the weather doesn't cooperate, you could be a little too cozy. :crowded:

Well, it can get cold down there around thanksgiving. We used to live 1 hour south of there, in Richmond Hill, GA. If you wanted to drive somewhere to eat, there are more options in nearby Savannah, GA.

(just read that you were in GA, so you probably knew that. sorry.)

I can't help you out, sorry. Just wanted to say-see you there since we're spending our first Thanksgiving at HHI this year (and also in a 1 BR). I can't wait to have the deep fried turkey. Also, we were on the waitlist for a 1 BR one night, but surprisingly the 1 BR was available for that night on member's cash. I'm not sure why that is, since I thought they both came from the same inventory (since we reserved thru DVC, not CRO). Oh, well, since it works out to about $7/ point for that night, we're thinking that we might be better off keeping it on cash and giving up the waitlist for a room on points. Something you might want to look into.

We are going at Thanksgiving also. Believe it or not, we traded at II for a one-bedroom. Couldn't believe it was available. Then we have a two-bedroom also. DH, myself, DD (34), DS (31), DDIL (32), DGD (4), DGS (4months), DD (29) and DSIL (31) will be there. We are waitlisted for a GrandVilla. Not holding my breath on that one.

Can't wait.
