Thank you Bob Iger and gang for Magic Bands!!!!!!!

I believe that everyone is entitled to his or her opinion, but this thread is neither Rumor nor News.

If it belongs anywhere, it belongs in the Theme Park Attractions and Strategies forum, along with all the other posts from all the other people who don't like Magic Bands.

yup it sure gets old. Oddly enough, people have said the rumors board was rough-- however, I have read some of the threads on the themepark attractions forum, and think they are taking away the crown.

and what is up with that new Little Mermaid ride? Disney should be embarrassed about that one. How come rides developed in the 1960's are way better then ones developed in the 2010's???????

Cheap, Cheap, Cheap.

Imagination. That's what we need.

I now can see the benefit of old time radio. The Lone Raner, The Shadow, etc

You listened and your imagination did the rest. Now everything is spoon fed to you.

Many movies ended in such a way that you could imagine the ending the way you wanted it.

Ah Figment.

We went in October and had 0 issues with our magic bands Our FP+ worked just fine as well. Sorry to hear you had issues.

Same here we had an initial glitch with our FPplus, but once we got our FP reservations worked out it was fine. I found it was much easier to pay and get in the park. I like the concept and hope they work the bugs out.

We need a DISboards virtual nursery and pacifiers for all the crying around here.
:lmao:
Just joshing and yanking your chain! You did say things rather strongly and it came across so serious.

To each his own opinion.

P.S. I like the T-shirts and I have seen some being worn.

My wife is in IT and could not believe that they rolled out the MBs for guests to test given the state they're in. We had nothing but issues the first four days of our stay. She spent an hour with a research CM going over the issues we had.

If you think it is bad here, try the theme park attractions and strategies board. They REALLY hate the FPP stuff.

maybe he went to grade school with Igre--- and Igre stole his lunch money.

Possibly.

I think OP sounds a bit like the opposite parties sound when the other guy wins the election. Gas prices are up? It's HIS fault. Lost your job? It's HIS fault. Hurricane hit? It's HIS fault. Missed your fastpass for Soarin'? Damn that Obama.

Well it's certainly Bob Iger's fault that they've spent most of the US budget on Magic Bands rather than exciting new attractions.

Yeah while we dream about a new Star Wars land that will probably come some time around 2020 at least we'll be able to look at those cute little rubber bands around our wrists.

We'll at least Disney is building attractions in China anyway. Iger's knows where his market is anyway!

Agreed!!! I would have much preferred money spent on rides instead of magic bands that seem to only work for some people...some times.

And here's the kicker you don't have to use them you can use a card just like the past.

Well...not exactly. This will cease any day now as they try to push more people to "adopt" the technology. Do the bands work? Depends on what your idea of " work" is. If by work you mean limiting the number of headline attractions you can fastpass, as well as forcing customers to fastpass lame attractions instead of using multiple fastpasses on, say, the more fun attractions like Tower of Terror or Rockin Rollercoaster - then yea, they do work. Yes, they open your door and allow you to tie a credit card to them for mindless spending - however the real crux is the limitations they impose on the ability to fastpass headline attractions and actually enjoy the parks instead of spending hours in the shops wasting time in between your forced riding times. Sure - you can wait in the standby lines - if you want to wait 60+ minutes.

They are going to push people to use them thats the whole point but you don't have to. If disney wasn't going to push people to use them then They wouldn't have spent this much time and money on it. The bands have been getting better, not everybody uses fastpass and by no means do everyone use more than three fastpasses. Disney knows there will be an increase in fastpass use for the headline attractions thats why they are splitting it up. They are not doing this at every park it would be very hard to do this at MK but it's not hard at Epcot or DHS considering the lower amount of bigger attractions. Not every attraction is a 60+ minute wait. I went on my last trip in 2012 end of July longest line we waited in was for soarin because we couldn't get a FP for it it was an hour wait very other line we were in was shorter by at least ten minutes. I used no more than three fastpasses a day and had no problem having a great vacation in what is supposed to be the busy time of the year other than the holidays.

By their own admission, the bands are simply an easier way for Disney to collect data, get you to spend more money, and control your time and actions. End of story.

Collecting data gives them information .
With information they can make changes to become more profitable.
With more profit they can make improvements to the parks and infustructure.

I think you've hit on two of them, and missed on the last one.

They could, but they aren't going to.

That would be make very bad business sense.
I dont understand the mentality that capitalism is a bad thing.

Yes...but I think they make the customers life a bit easier too...

I don't think people are saying that capitalism is a bad thing. To me it's more of an example that WDW has made a business decision that really does seem to NOT be sitting well with some of their best customers. I think the OP is hysterical . . . and unfortunately hits the nail on the head. I realize that the unhappy people on these board (me included) aren't their ONLY customers. Obviously some folks will really like and enjoy the new system. Lucky them.

To many of us, however, it seems like a huge investment of money and the "improvements" that we might see are just a little too far off. Don't want to sound cynical, but my guess is that the "tracking" and the "profit" part of the plan seem to be way more important.

I did send an email to WDW yesterday voicing my concerns. Just for my own satisfaction. Like I've read here before, people need to let them know how we feel.
