Texas

They sure did LOL. I have a friend in TX and she was posting fb a couple of months ago saying the stay at home was lifted and she showed pictures of them in a restaurant. No social distancing, no masks (except for one server). It was business as usual. You would have thought the picture was from last summer. Then you have states that are ordered to wear masks and are opening very slowly. It is so weird to me. Why aren't we all doing the same thing?
My FB feed is ridiculous right now, which is what prompted me to start this thread. Ladies meeting up for lunch at restaurants, hugging and posing for selfies. Family reunions with multi-generation extended family members. Dressing room selfies from the mall. I have a family member that posted from the bar on the first day they re-opened at noon!! And she took her 70-year old mother-in-law with her! You can't fix stupid, y'all.

I think they are sure they are "right."
All the sick and dead? Not people they know. Shrug. It probably won't matter to them until they lose a few friends or family.

POTUS had wanted each governor to handle their own state. That is why each state is doing something different. Comedian, Chris Rock said this is like 50 different countries now instead of one unified one.
Yes, I remember states bidding against each other for PPE and ventilators, driving up prices. It would’ve been nice to base it on need.

Illinois here. Over the months, a lot of complaints at the governor and Chicago mayor about opening too slowly. They took the barbs, stayed the course, opening in a very methodical, well-planned process. Numbers are way down. People are complaining less. I just hope, as we are slowly opening bit by bit, that we do not slide backwards.

Texan here. Science has definitely left the building in Texas. I feel like I’m back in school and part of a huge group project - I’m doing my part, but no one else is so we are all going to fail. It’s maddening - it even angers some people to see you wearing a mask. It’s a very scary predicament.

And some get mad if you are 12 feet away and not wearing one. It doesn't matter if you have asthma and have a difficult time with cloth masks. Nope they don't care if you are social distancing AND don't have the virus. It will be your selfish fault they are on a ventilator after contracting COVID. PERIOD. No if, ands or buts..

I lady in my neighborhood was walking with her elderly mom in the early evening to get some exercise. A group of teenaged boys surrounded them and started pointing and mocking them for wearing masks. This is what we are dealing with in Texas. 50% of the population is still anti-mask and thinks this is a big joke. You are right, it is maddening.

Why would they wear masks walking in the neighborhood? Are they unable to distance?

Can I interject to day that as serious as this virus is, if you feel like something is off with you medically PLEASE seek help instead of putting it off! I'm in Texas - my brother has had stomach pains for almost a week but wouldn't go to the doctor or hospital for fear of being infected. He is in surgery right now having dead colon removed and may not make it. PLEASE don't be so afraid that you ignore warning signs!

I have several family members with chronic conditions. They are all continuing to get medical attention.

I completely agree with your post!! Care has been delayed due to COVID, fear and lack of services/treatment.

Thoughts and prayers for a speedy recovery for your brother.
