Thank-you I knew someone would come along & tell us who it was. DH was impressed that "Pete" spotted my birthday pin all the way up there & said Happy Birthday to me as he rode past.

Who's coming for lunch? & I hope it's good after the morning I've had...

I don't remember how late it was before DS & I got back to our room but it had truely been a memorable & magical night.

I didn't put too much stock into DS being able to get up for EPCOT rope drop the next morning but I was running on the end of the trip adrenaline wanting to make the most of the time left. So I got myself out of bed the next morning where both my guys stayed put enjoying their REM sleep

I didn't get up early enough to make the official rope drop but a bus arrived within minutes of my arrival at the bus stop & I was in EPCOT before 9:30ish if my memory serves me right.

Naturally I headed straight over to Soarin. I do recall that my FP window said 11:40 which wasn't such a great time to score a second one before meeting the guys for lunch. I tried to get a CM to take pity on me & get a second one for my sleeping in son but I justifiably received no sympathy Oh well, that's the way it goes.

So I got in the standby line for Soarin and since there were not too many FP users this early still, it wasn't long before I was SOARIN over California. I really enjoy this ride, it's so relaxing.

When I finished the posted wait time said 40 minutes which I judged wasn't too bad a time to wait. Since I had about an hour before I could get a second FP for DS & I to ride again later in the day I decided I'd ride it again & spare my feet from walking elsewhere. While waiting I called DH to see how they were doing.

ME: Hi there, you up yet?

DH: Oh yeah, I'm just having a cup of coffee watching DS sleep.

ME: Well, you need to be at EPCOT no later than 11:40 to allow time to walk to the restaurant for lunch.

DH: Okay, then I'll get him up & we'll head that way in about a half hour

ME: Get some Test Track FP's on your way over.

DH: I don't know how to get FP's

ME: DH, we've been here all week, you know how we get FP's.

DH: I haven't gotten any FP's this week.

ME: DS knows how to do it. Now listen, it's important you get those FP's cause I'll be lucky if I get a second one for Soarin. If you get 2 then DS can ride each of his fav's after lunch. You like TT, you can ride it with him & I'll ride Soarin again. Okay?

DH: Where is Test Track?

ME: You'll find it, you've rode it before. You like it. It's the race track to the left after you go past the big ball. I'm in line for Soarin & I'll meet you both for lunch after I get a second FP there, okay?

DH: See you for lunch then.

Sometimes I think DH just likes to jerk my chain We have the same idiotic conversations over & over. THat's why I can usually recall the jest of them after the fact.

Anyway, by now I'm about halfway through the SOARIN line & positioned behind a lovely older couple who I've struck up a conversation with to pass the time. As we clear the long stretch infront of the seemingly endless large screen pictures of the 4 seasons of the year (I don't know why they had to remove the games, at least that gave you something to do) we are making that last turn where a CM stays holding back the line to allow the FP folks through.

But our line has been sitting still about 20 minutes. Evidently every FP available for this time slot is entering the ride. I see literally hundreds of people going infront of the standby. If she lets out 2 people per 100 I am not exaggerating

Now I get the whole FP concept, really I do. But this has gotten ridiculous! People are starting to get irate in the line

I've never seen the line held up this long. Usually in will go about 50 FP's and they'll let at least 10 stand by through line.

Not this CM.

My FP window is now open.

Our lunch ressie is in 25 minutes.

I have not cleared the FP fork in the road.

I'm about 10 people back. I start whining about my ADR. CM doesn't give the least bit of a hoot. I'm thinking she must not know how to do her job

I expect to wait behind a handfull of FP users.

Not thousands of them!

FINALLY we get past the horrible mean CM. When we turn that corner, of course there's another line.

I'm so mad at myself. I just HAD to try to squeeze in another ride.

Halfway down a CM walks down looking for a party of 3

THREE!

HEY! I'm one & they're 2 (pointing to the couple in front of me)

CM invites us to follow her!

We pass about 50 people & get stuck on the far most back row.

But we're riding next

I asked the couple if they minded my speaking up for them

Oh, not at all!

Soon the mean CM back at the fork in the road is a fading memory. We soar a great ride over California but upon landing, I SOAR out & back to the FP machine

And I'm able to get a second FP! It was the one I had to work the most for, but nonetheless.....S.C.O.R.E!

I call my DH on the phone, they're at the restaurant & waiting for me. I charge through the world showcase fast as I can & arrive in France about 12:10 huffing & puffing.

We are seated immediately & a very cute, very French, waiter comes over to take care of us. Oh if you could've heard his accent! He was so cute & no, my DH doesn't get bothered over this in the least bit. In fact he encourages it by warning the waiter that I love all things French (I have French blood) & have anticipated this lunch since day 1. So after a little blush, the waiter recommends I have some French wine, that I look like I've had a rough morning (could my red, sweaty face be a clue )

DH ordered a French beer & DS just wants water. No sooner are our drinks served when another "guest" comes over to join us.

I'm sure by now you've guessed it was Remy

Here is the lady who was bringing Remy over to see the diners

I thought she spent quite a bit of time with us. She talked to DS quite a while which surprised me since I had read if you get about 60 seconds with Remy you're lucky.

Well it's not exactly a character meal but we enjoyed our visit with Remy, his lovely host & our cute French waiter DH & I had the lunch special & got the same: French onion soup, French ham & cheese & vanilla brulee. I really enjoyed & had a second glass of a different French wine. DS got a cheeseburger, "french" fries & chocolate cake. (Fries are about as cultural as he gets)

After a lovely lunch, we hung out in France a bit. We saw the show, window shopped & then did the unthinkable, had a second dessert But who can resist those French pastries!

We took a leisurely stroll in the world showcase. In Italy, we saw a performer juggling & playing around with the crowd.

We had snack credits to use up so when we arrived in Germany, we sat on a bench to people watch while enjoying pretzels. We arrived in Norway & was surprised to see this!

I have never waited this long to ride the boat in Norway. But DH announced he was hot & thought he'd go back to the room. DS asked him to ride the boat so in we went to wait 20 minutes to ride this. I think other than Soarin this was one of the longest waits we had all week. Go figure!

BUt here's proof at least we got the front row

I think the heat, beer & desserts wore DH out. He just wanted to go back to the room & since we had all rode the boat ride in Mexico on our arrival date, we all skipped it. DS was kinda wore out too but wanted to use our 2 FP's.

I suggested DH ride TT with DS since he hadn't rode it this trip but he said he didn't care & just wanted to go back to the room to relax. He was looking forward to our dinner at LeCellier so he said he'd come back to meet us for that.

So DH left & DS and I went to ride Test Track. The FP line didn't take too long & after exiting, we were both so hot we decided to duck into Innovations. We found the SUm of all Thrills & since we were lucky enough to find it without a line, decided to give it a whirl.

DS did most of the designing & named our coaster. I don't recall the details but it was a lot of fun getting to ride in his simulated coaster. It has been a while since we went to Disney Quest but this reminded me a lot of the coaster simulator over there. It was good to get out of the heat & into the airconditioning but either way I'd recommend doing this at least once if you haven't tried it before.

We walked across future world & over to the land. We cut through the other Innovations on the way. In there on our arrival day we had experienced 2 things I forgot to mention on our arrival day which was "What's your problem" which is a kinda cheesy little show about problem solving but the CM'd did a great job and made it fun. And then near that small theatre was a place, don't recall the name, maybe someone will post that does, but you basically pretend to run, you jump, dance, etc. and then your group is inserted into your own video game that you can e-mail to yourself. It was a neat thing to do.

I asked DS if he'd like to do that again & he just wanted to go experience Soarin' so that's what we did.

It was nice to walk right through, especially after my last experience in stand by at this attraction a few hours ago. Although the mean CM was not at the FP fork in the line. I envisioned her overtaken by some crazy standby crowd tired of watching her make them wait a disproportionate amount of time to enter

After Soarin DS announced he was just too pooped out to do another thing & wanted to go back to the room. In fact, he kinda wanted to just stay at the room all night. well, he sorta wanted to have dinner in Canada but he wanted to know if we could go back to Animal Kingdom tomorrow & ride EE again before we left?

After discussing this with DH on the phone, we came up with a plan. I walked DS out of EPCOT & watched him board the bus. It began pouring buckets after he boarded so I sat at the bus stop a while. I remember watching the bus drive off & thinking how grown up DS has become, no longer a little boy but a young man I know he enjoyed the independence of taking the bus by himself back to the resort.

Of course DH was waiting at our bus stop & called me the minute DS had safely arrived back at the resort

When I got back into EPCOT, I took a relaxing ride on Spaceship earth. When I exited, it was drizzling again so I went inside Innovations. I thought about making a run for Ellen's Universe of Energy but decided against it. Instead I went over to Club Cool, a first for me.

I sampled all but the Beverly, too chicken.

When I left Club Cool, it had stopped raining sorta. Check out my view!

I hate it when there is a line at Maelstrom. It is a short ride, and the line theming is non-existant, so waiting for this one is not very rewarding.

Sum of all Thrills in Innoventions is fun. A CM working there told us they don't have it on the park maps or advertise the attraction because the capacity is so low. I think she told me they can as many riders in a day as Soarin' handles in an hour!

Great score getting Le Cellier reservations for your anniversary dinner! Probably a good idea for the guys to head back to the resort and relax a little so they will enjoy the meal.

BTW- we ate at Le Cellier on our last two visits, so if you need any food photos...

You are the food photo QUEEN I will surely remember to take pictures of food our next trip to the world now that I've about completed my first trip report I've learned a lot as I've written but it's been a lot of fun!

Had it not been for the DISboards, I would not have known about the Sum of all Thrills. THis is what I find so facinating about WDW, I know I'm preaching to the choir on these boards but it always cracks me up to hear non-Disney lovers carry on about how if you've been there & done that, why go back? But that's what draws me back, as many times as we've gone, which is not a great amount IMO I can always find something I haven't seen before to do at WDW.

Maybe one of these days I will truely strike a good balance between relaxing & doing stuff at the world. Try as I may, it seems I always come home worn out, but it's always a good tired My DH does a much better job in relaxing on our trip but I think I do a better job "seeing it all"

You should try Chefs De France. It was such an enjoyable experience & lunch was perfect since we paid that meal OOP. I think I'd save dinner for a TS credit

"THE" Anniversary Dinner: pre-dinner, part 1

Hoping the rain had stopped & the only thing left to get soaked would be my taking in the sights of ECPOT I walked towards the world showcase.

Looking towards the Imagination Pavilion I thought these flowers were pretty

Isn't the contrast in sky peculiar? One direction it is dark & foreboding, yet another direction it looks lighter & that it would clear up shortly

Walking towards Canada, I take another shot towards Italy. I thought the contrast of sunlight on the water looked pretty with the flowers

I arrived in Canada. Here is where I'd be meeting the guys for dinner, Le Cellier

I think I had made it to Canada, dry & more importantly, with dry shoes, when my cell went off. DH was checking in about the dinner plans which were about an hour away.

DH: Hey DW, just checking in before I head over for dinner

ME: Would you believe I am where we need to be for dinner?

DH: No way, it's not like you to be early

ME: I know, but I guess I'm running out of steam too

DH: I got DS dinner from the food court. He's too tired to come back to EPCOT for dinner

ME: I don't want to miss our LeCellier dinner

DH: You won't. WE are going to enjoy dinner together

ME: Are you sure that's going to be okay?

DH: DS will be fine. We got it worked out, stop worrying. I'll see you shortly.

After we hung up, I decided to go see where the music was coming from.


Lucky me, I got to see Off Kilter!

AFter listening a while, I decided to go take in a viewing of O Canada! While waiting I called DS.

DS: Mom, I'm fine

ME: Has dad left?

DS: Yes, moooom, quit worrying! Dad says you're having your anniversary dinner & all that lovey dovey kind of junk

ME: You sure you don't mind not coming

DS: Really mom, I'm tired. I just want to get some rest but I do want to go ride Expedition Everest one more time tomorrow, okay?

ME: Okay. I'm calling you every 30 minutes

DS: Mom, stop, I'm fine

ME: If you don't answer, I'm calling hotel security

DS: Mom, really

ME: You're my baby

DS: Bye mom

It isn't long before I get in to see the O Canada show. I love seeing the films of the countries but I have to say I liked having a seat in France earlier compared to standing in Canada tonight. My feet were really tired

After the show, I headed out to Le Cellier to put our names in & DH called me on the cell phone. He was about 25 feet away from me, looking for me

We were told it'd be a few minutes so we walked over to wait by the gardens.

"THE" Anniversary Dinner - Le Cellier, Part 2 Con't.

We had a 7:05 Le Cellier reservation for 3. It was after 7 so we walked back into the restaurant. We noticed the check in had been moved outside near the entrance, before you walk past the gardens which was encouraging. Maybe Illuminations would happen inspite of the dark skies.

Walking inside, there were quite a few people waiting. I looked inside the restaurant to see several tables for 2 open in the middle. I checked back with the hostess to make sure she was aware our party of 3 had shrunk to a party of 2, and that we didn't mind sitting in them main area where the empty tables were

She said it'd be just a couple minutes & by golly it was

Soon we found ourselves led into the dining hall & we were seated right in the middle of the restarant, next to a large table by the fireplace. There was a large group seated there. We had a waitress in training, DH noticed she was a real cutie (recall my comments in France ) but I'm sorry to say I don't recall where she or her male counterpart (trainer) were from, but I'm thinking it was on the Vancouver side of the country since we talked about the island of Victoria.

ANyway, this was DH's FIRST visit to Le Cellier

He ordered a Canadian beer & I had a Candian white wine, something the cute waitress recommended. (she was cute, probably young enough to be our daughter ) but she picked a good wine

I informed DH he MUST try the Canadian cheese soup, the waitress agreed wholeheartedly, so he did. We both did infact

Ahhh, I'm telling you that soup is like a taste of heaven! Oh it is sooo good. But even better is it with the PRETZEL bread they serve.

Actually, they serve 3 kinds of bread before dinner, but the PRETZEL bread is by far our favorite!

DH thought both the soup & pretzel bread were EXCELLENT! And he was being so romantic Wining & dining me, I felt like a school girl.

DH commented how he liked our first night dinner in Mexico. That is where we "officially" celebrated our anniversary, on the first night of our trip. But he commented that it turned out that this really was "THE" anniversary dinner!

This is funny to us as buckeye fans, being from Ohio, home of "THE" Ohio State University

Oh Yeah!

So here we are, just us 2 goofy buckeyes celebrating what we now think of as "THE" anniversary dinner of 2010 (get it, the BIG 10 and it's 2010....)

Every year for our anniversary at home, we go to a local restaurnant that specializes in steaks. It's not officially where DH & I met, it's a long story, but yet it is where DH & I met. So every year we go there for our anniversary. And this year our anniversary fell on Sunday so we couldn't celebrate there for our actual anniversary so we ate at a Chinese restaurant where we had our first "official" date - another long story - but anyway, looking back on this trip, we now think of LeCellier officially as "THE" anniversary dinner of 2010 (Yeah, I know, I already explained all that-lol)

When the big group beside us cleared out I snapped a shot of DH at our table

As I'm sure you guessed, we both ordered steak for dinner. DH got the one that comes with the mushroom sause. I don't like mushrooms so I got the one without, I can't tell you what it had on it but it was FABULOUS!

We were having a ball, I know we had a few more rounds of drinks. Each time I tried a different wine but DH liked his Canadian brew so he stuck with that. I think our steaks came with potatoes & a salad, I'm pathetic, I don't really even remember but I can tell you it was ROMANTIC to celebrate an anniversary at Le Cellier

We struck up a conversation with the couple sitting next to us. She was originally from Ohio, and even lived near Dayton. Her DH was from GA & that's where they currently lived. They offered to take our picture

ANd here we are for "THE" Anniversary Dinner

I'd like to say I'm sunburned but I think that's a wine buzz making my face red

Desset was marvelous, we had to compare the brulee from France so we ordered a maple brulee and the Canadian chocolate cake. We shared them, feeding each other & things that most likely would've appalled DS had he joined us.

Even using our last 2 DDP table credits I won't mention how much extra our bill was

Memories like that: PRICELESS

After dinner & checking in for about the 3rd time with DS, leaving the restaurant the lights are dimmed for Illuminations. We decide since we're there & it's ready to start, we stay to watch the show.

There must have been some newbie's hanging out at the rail, because after the globe opened, they just walked away

Which meant I got to stand right up on the rail for an unobstructed view with DH behind with his arms around me. More romance

A perfect end to a perfect trip

After Illuminations, we walked out with the crowd, I hopped on the lite up squares of cement walking through the future world area (childlike, or buzzed-like, you can judge). We didn't have to wait long for a bus, they had the buses lined up & dedicated for each all stars resort so we had our own for ASMusic.

I think we held hands walking back to our room. Hanging on the door, the ever efficient WDW customer service had our resort check out info waiting. I don't remember how soon it came but we had our ME confirmation too.

DS was laying in bed still playing his game. Asked if we had a good time & reminded me to get him up to ride EE in the morning.

Everyone kissed goodnight & I whispered to DH we'd finish the anniversary celebration at home.

And for the sake of this G rated forum, that's all she wrote

I'm so so sorry that I have missed like your whole trip!! But I just spent a couple hours reading it and I loved every second of it!! Your family makes me smile, even if sometimes there is a little friction. I don't think anyone can possibly have a completely blissful trip...but always (hopefully!!) the good way more than outweighs the bad and thats what keeps us coming back!

I especially love hearing you interject all your old memories into the current tr!! I can't wait until I have enough trips under my belt to do that!!

I bet you'd surprise yourself if you did start writing one. That's what I enjoyed about my first one, it did help me to remember & in a way, get to relive the great memories But it has taken longer than I thought to get finished. I've been really buzy the past week & need to do my "finish" but I'm going to do that soon!

I don't think anyone can possibly have a completely blissful trip...but always (hopefully!!) the good way more than outweighs the bad and thats what keeps us coming back!

I especially love hearing you interject all your old memories into the current tr!! I can't wait until I have enough trips under my belt to do that!!

You're right, we do have our "moments" but I think part of it my DH didn't travel alot as a kid so he wasn't taught that it is okay to unwind & lose yourself in fun, especially on the blissful days of vacationing away from home. Our honeymoon was his first time on an airplane & we've taken many trips since then. So we've come a long way * one of this days, I'm counting on having one of those non-conflict type trips A girl can dream, right?

The finish line A wet & productive morning

We woke up the morning of our last day & after getting all the luggage ready & requesting a later check out (which the ASMusic granted ) we hauled our stuff over to RAC &/or luggage services to hold our stuff. I ended up over at guest services to ask a question about the golf voucher that came with our package. The very nice CM was asking questions about our stay & one thing led to another & he ended up giving me complimentary credits to use for all of us to play a round of mini golf since my view over at the P&P cruise had been obstructed. This was unexpected but I certainly appreciated them making every effort to make all parts of our stay magical.

DS wanted to go over to AK again to ride Expedition Everest again but DH wanted no part of that. He gets nervous about check out day & getting to the airport. In fact, he actually LIKES that ME makes you leave 3 hours early

ME: You don't want to go over to Animal Kingdom?

DH: Nope, I just want to hang out here to relax. I can go back to the room, right?

ME: Yes, but we'll be coming back cause we want to play mini golf. You sure you don't want to go?

DH: I don't think you'll have time to go to AK AND play minigolf.

ME: DH, our flight isn't out until 8pm, it's still early

DH: Well when are we getting picked up for the airport?

ME: Not until 5pm. Why don't I call you when we're done at AK & you can go mini golf with us?

DH: Okay, but I'll probably just stay here.

ME: You have a CS meal left you can have at the food court unless you want to go to AK to get something more interesting.

DH: Food court sounds good to me

ME: okay, then I'll call you!

So DS & I get out to the bus stop & as has been the case all week, a bus for AK comes within 5 minutes. It doesn't take long to get there from AllStars & we head straight for EE. My memory is getting fuzzy but I think we got a FP then got in the single rider line. It didn't seem to take too long, which was great

After riding once, we decided to get in the single rider line again. That's where our luck temporarily wore out. We were about 15 people back & at least were under shelter when it started to rain.

I'm talking Winnie the Pooh's song "The rain rain rain came down down down & Piglet started bailing" kinda rain.

It rained so much but the ride kept going. For about 5 more rounds. Then an official looking CM came around with a walkie talkie & they stopped loading guests They got the last full train into the station & stopped the ride. DS was soooo bummed

We decided to wait it out. I don't know how long it took but the rain abruptly stopped & the sun came out. The official looking CM starts walking around, the other CM"s are waiting, we're all waiting...

Then finally the Mr. Official gives the green light and the ride starts again. So we get a second single ride in

When we finish our ride, our FP can be used so for our 3rd ride, we get to ride in the same car together

Ah, good times with DS!

By the time we finished our 3rd ride, since we're insane we get another FP knowing full well we won't be able to use it. We figure we'd give it to someone on the way out. ANd since we had snack credits left to use up, DS & I each got a Mickey Ice cream bar - breakfast of champions

DS talks me into trying the single rider line ONE LAST TIME

I don't get a lot of opportunities to be cool to DS anymore, so why not

I got a hug for that one

We got through the single rider line & decided it was time to head out. We look around for someone to give our FP's to & I have an idea. I walk over to the CM at the FP machine & tell her it's our last day, we have to leave, but the next person that comes for 2 FP's, we'd like her to give them our 2 FP's as a "bonus"

The CM says, "oh, that's so nice of you. I'll do that. But why don't you go ride one more time since it's your last day, and you better hurry cause the skies are getting dark again!"

And she gives us 2 FP's we can use now

DS is beside himself with joy

So we go into the FP line, get on the train in about 10 minutes & on the way up the mountain, we are getting drenched. It's raining crazy again.

DS: Hey mom, you wanted to ride KRR & now it's like you get to EE style



We were drenched when we came back into the station. ANd the ride CLOSED again after we got back into the station.

Talk about luck, I couldn't believe it

We headed out of the park in the drizzle. We were getting hungry again but DS wanted to eat a burger at the ASMusic food court So we thought we'd use some more snack credits, we had about 4 more to go. We decided to try pretzels, only I wanted to try one with the cheese inside since this was my last day off South Beach diet but the CM running the snack counter said they were all out so I said that's okay, we'd just each have a pretzel.

She gave us each a pretzel but refused to take our snack credits I really tried to get her to take it, I didn't care about not getting the cheese, she said not to worry about it, she wanted to do it

Enjoying that pretzel on the walk out, DS says, "Mom, I love this place"

"Me too, DS"
