Ok, my dh wants to know about Teppanyaki, He says since I am choosing all the places to eat, he wants at least one, so What are some Opinons on Teppanyaki. I tried to do a search, but I can't right now, Maybe tonight. thanks for your help!!!!

I ate there Dec 2000 and it was GREAT!!! The chefs were entertaining and talking with other guests was fun. It's just like any other Japanese restaurant with communal tables that seat like 12 people and so you're sitting with strangers. And the chefs do their usual cooking show just like at any other Japanese restaurant. So, it's not that unusual compared to Non-Disney Tepanyaki, but there's nothing bad about it either. The food was great.

Very good experience, very good food and drinks. You sit 8 around a grill and the cook prepares everything in front of you. Some cooks are more entertaining than others, e.g., not all of them can do what we saw ours do last time which was to take the inedible tail portions of the shrimp, cut them off, and then without looking, flip them with his spatialla over his shoulder and into a small container that was sitting on a shelf behind him; others usually need to see where they are tossing things. This is one place we go to every time we go to WDW. It is pricey.

I've eaten there several times and the food has always been great! You will not be disappointed. The seating is like Benihana's. :Pinkbounc

Does anyone know for sure the size of the tables? We are a party of 12 and booked this restaurant for our CP package for Christmas Eve. The CM said we'd all be at one table.

The Teppanyaki restaurant in Epcot is very similar to any other japanese restaurant you may have been to where the food is cooked in front of you on a grill in the table you sit at. We have eaten there before and while I like Japanese a lot this is just average in my opinion. I think other Epcot restaurant are much better (Le Cellier for example is one of my all time favorites). There is also a a sushi bar in the restaurant that you can order from, although as far as I remember you have to go into the sushi bar and order it to be brought into the dining room, you can not order the sushi from your server (This may have changed, I do not know). One of my biggest turn offs in the restaurant is having steamed rice as opposed to fried rice. I love fried rice and was disappointed in not having any. (Again this may have changed since my last time eating there).

We like Teppanyaki a lot. We allways do lunch, though, b/c it's much cheaper than dinner. And you CAN order sushi from your server. My dh said it was very good and surprisingly inexpensive by disney standards. Still steamed rice, but I think it goes perfectly with the meal.

I agree with the other poster-They do not serve fried rice and I was VERY disappointed. It was good food, but I really MISSED the fried rice. When I asked our waitress about the rice, she said, "You want fried rice-Go to China, they have it there!"

I did a review with pics of the Tappenyaki on this board. It should be on page 1 or 2. The tables seat 6.

We've been there at least 5 times and been at a table for 8 every time. The chef stands on one side, four people are seated across from him and two people on each end.

What is the kid's menu like here? Does it have some of the traditional items( mac & Cheese, burgers etc) or is it just a child's serving of Japanese? We love this type of food but there is nothing at our local resturants he will eat.

I was there in January, all the tables I saw seated eight. I loved this experience. I thought the food was great and the chef was very entertaining. We are doing this for the CP on the 21st! I can't wait.

You guys are right! I typed 6 by mistake! Sorry!!!!! They seat 8.

All the tables seat 8??? Guess I was given the wrong info (what a surprise!)....the CM specifically said all 12 of us would be together. What a mess I'm in now.

We ate there 2 times on this past trip (Aug 2-17)!! It is the only place where my very picky DD's will eat it all!!

The food is very fresh and good. The entertainment is fun.

Go for it!

The tables normally seat 8 however we saw them seat 10 - 12 next to us. This did include some small children (maybe 2) and some younger kids (maybe 4 ages 6-12)!!

We were a party of 10 at a table and we were squished. My ds was in a high chair and another child who would normally have been in a high chair couldn't be because there wasn't enough room. Unless they have special tables for parties of 12, I can't image 12 people squished around there. In addition to your plates, they give you sauces for your food in these cups and there really is no room.

Other guests with us ordered sushi from the table server.

I love this place though. We normally eat here whenever we go, it is so good. When we go in Dec, will be the first time that we are not eating here, not because there is anything wrong, but just because we are only going for a long weekend and will try something different.

Enjoy the food, but you may want to double check the # of people at one table ;)

I know some people here were complaining about the Japanese Restaruant not having Fried Rice...There is a reason for that. Fried rice is a Chinese Dish-not Japanese. In Japan no matter where you go for a meal (except Chinese restaruants) you are always served steamed rice, even for breakfast. And that's probably why the server got a bit snippy with you when you asked for it. Unfortunately the Japanese people are a bit touchy with being confused with other oriental groups (as are all cultures) . Actually having heard everyone talk about it I'm deffinately going to have to make a stop here. It's probably the closest thing I'm going to get to going back to Japan.

I appologize if anyone takes this personaly...just a cultural note.

DisneyHumbug- We just ate at Teppanyaki with a party of 13 and we took one full table a part of another. The tables are arranged as two horseshoes that form a circle, if you can picture that. You'll probably be across from each other at two tables, but you'll all be facing each other. They arrange the chefs to cook at approximately the same time, so you'll all be done at about the same time. Hope that info helps! :D

stargzr - thanks for the info! We are 7 adults and 5 teens/20's - so that might work out.....I'm just not sure if I should let my DB and DS-I-L know now, or just act surprised at the arrangement LOL!

When we went we were with a group of 14. We let the six "kids" (5-28) sit at one table and the eight adults at the other. There was no problem getting numerous checks so it worked out great.
