Tent camping

The Danby 12,000 BTU ac has a 2 air hose system, that brings in outside air to cool the unit, then exhausts it out the other air hose. This keeps from using your inside air to cool the unit, which exhausts it outside, which causes more outside air to come in to replace what was lost. It has a non-drip feature and still has a drain hose if you need it.

This unit is sufficient to cool my 10 X 30 tent I carry with me that I put up when we have extra people along as long as the tent is mostly in the shade. At night there is no problem at all.

I have used the window unit idea in the past & it works well also and can be cheaper overall to do per BTU than the portable system.

I know this was put to rest but a few points. A pet cool that can sit in the weather and has two hoses means only two 6" holes in tent to fit the flex hose. Pricy but adds heat as well. Also a 5000btu setting on a sturdy stand you can fashion a 20" collar velcroed to the unit and tent cutout.
I have seen both done with a group of fish & camp guys in 100% weather and rain and with great success. Remote units work best.

Hi I actually live in the Uk and my husband and I love to camp at The Fort
we only use basic gear as you can imagine tent air bed bedding pillows fan plastic bowls plates ect and a kettle for our morning coffee oh and not forgetting the cooler. We are both in our mid 50's and yes if it gets far too hot get in the shade and find a breeze, go to the laundry go for a swim. We are going for three weeks June 15th and have decided because of the length of our stay to rent a pop up with air con. A lot more expensive but I think we will be better off. At least we can spend our evenings outside go to the campfire walk to the beach to watch the electric water pageant and fireworks we also have bikes with our pop up rental towels sheets everything so a lot easier for us this trip. I love camping and we manage to get a lot of weekends away cheaply. Not everyone's cup of tea but one mans cure is another mans poison.
Happy Camping
Wendy

Great - as we get on we find a few comforts worth the dime. Our last day will be the day before you arrive. Good fortune!
