Tell me your thoughts about "The Secret"

This is a post I wrote 3 years ago. I reposted it here the last couple of years. There has been such hateful, bashing with all the political threads on this board that has the ironic title now of being called a "Community" Board, I didn't bother to bump it. It hadn't occurred to me to bump it for you people, here, who would get it. :grouphug:

I'm a native New Yorker. Right now, from my window, I can see the twin beams of light emanating from the World Trade Center site shooting upward, disappearing into Heaven, where I hope the souls lost that day have gone.

Earlier, from my vantage point, the bright half moon passed directly behind & through those twin beams of light. The glow from the moon cast in that beam, reflected horizontally across, creating a WHITE CROSS of light up in the sky, with the half moon in the center of the cross. It was a very amazing sight to see!

Anyway, I read or listened to a lot of the phone calls and recorded messages on answering machines made on Sept. 11, that were released to the public. In all the ones I read, there was not a single one where a person trapped in the WTC or on a plane, said anything like, "Make sure you keep my Oscar/Pulitzer/Nobel Prize polished on the mantle for me after I'm gone." Not one "Keep buying my book to keep it on the Best Sellers list after I'm gone." No one talked about their fancy, significant titles of being CEO or whatever.

Instead, when they knew they only had minutes to live, or even the ones who thought they were safe (in the 1 hr 42 minutes before the first tower fell,) not a single person was talking about their material or physical achievements & accomplishments.

In the final moments, in the final analysis, what was important was calling someone they loved. To reassure them, or to hear that beloved voice one last time, or at the very least, to leave a message letting their loved ones know that they are loved and that THEY are their last thoughts before they die.

If there is a positive legacy we can take from all those calls, it is that: While you make all your lists of Values, Goals, Dreams or Lifetime Achievements; or when you're b*tching about some nattering little thing, put it all in it's right perspective & priority. Know what's really important - at the end - and live accordingly.

Know who you'd be calling in your last moments and know who you'd want to have calling you. Live according to that NOW. Let them know NOW and in all the moments until you go. And live in a way that those persons you'd want to call you, will WANT to call YOU.

I look at an empty sky, save two beams of light, where two massive, solid buildings use to blot out the sky. Life is all so short & temporary, from the solid, concrete buildings, the fancy titles of importance/achievements, the best laid plans, to the very time we are here.

But the love we've made & shared after everything else is gone, the differences we made in the lives & hearts of others and they in ours: that remains. :grouphug:

Great post, Brenda :thumbsup2 I needed to hear that today.

I had a great weekend just doing normal weekend things, and my energy level was high, due to the reading I did here last week and trying to incorporate these principles in my life.

I was struggling this morning because I am at work and this company has been virtually bankrupt for a year. It is only because our CEO has been writing personal checks to pay the bills that we are still getting paid, although our pay has been cut, and I don't know how much longer he'll continue. I have been trying to find a new job, but I haven't found anything yet and it's so easy to worry and let it get me back into negative thinking.

Imzadi- as per usual, you always give me something to ponder, and I am grateful.

I have been struggling with envy, in relation to a particular person. Me at my worst. And I have been working on retraining myself and reworking my ideas, values, remembering to give thanks every day for my MANY blessings, while re-wiring my thoughts to blessing this other person's achievements, possessions, etc.

ANd I was looking around and found this website http://www.findthepower.com, and I have been using the "Healing Pages"- they have really helped! They have them for all sorts of issues you might be dealing with: envy, worry, stress, guilt, etc. I really liked the idea- it's kind of like a prompted journal.

Got this in an email this morning:

What happens when someone worries?

Basically, they think of 100 reasons why something might go wrong. And all of those thoughts then struggle to become things, sometimes overriding their more constructive thoughts.

It's like a train wreck. Ain't pretty. But that's the power of worry.

Now, let's say you want something fantastic to manifest in your life. Hypothetically, let's say you want a working on it.

Have you sat down yet and listed 100 reasons why it might come to you easily, fast, and harmoniously?

I think you should.

Thank you! What an awesome idea!
You are the greatest group of positive people!
Every time I visit I learn something!

Have a great Tuesday!
Just for you....

Another email (hope you don't mind them)

The secret behind miracles, is that the one performing them begins without any knowledge whatsoever of exactly how they will succeed, yet still they begin.

Good Morning and Thanks Everyone. These are great.
This is a great group!

Have a great day:goodvibes

I need some positive energy sent my way! I had a tough day yesterday, but I'm letting it go and trying to feel good today.

Anyway, I interviewed this morning for a transfer at my job. It would be to an office about 5 minutes from my house (currently, I drive about 35 miles, one way!!! ). Gas prices are eating up my paycheck.

I like the people I work with, but it would be better hours (off by 4:30 most days!!!) and SOOOO much closer to home.

I know the interview went well (I know the manager and supervisor anyway), and I interviewed for a position there once before, but didn't get it. The girl who DID get it was having a tought time where she was, though- so she kind of needed a transfer more than I did. And I am ok with that.

But this time, I would really like to get it and be closer to home. :goodvibes

Good luck with the job!!

I feel great, I had a Kriya Massage today and feel wonderful:) The weather is gorgeous and I'm going ziplining next week!!

Thanks for you good thoughts! I'm feeling really great about it.

(I'm feeling really lazy about cleaning my house, which is what I should be doing).

Keep us posted.
I interviewed for my job and didn't get it. Then the position opened up again 8 months later and I was on it. I was lucky to get another interview with another supervisor and that time I got the job. Everything just falls into place like it's supposed to. It will for you too.

from another email:)
What is the answer to every difficult circumstance in life?
Take the positive path.

Choosing the positive path can be easy at some times in our life and more difficult at other times. When everything is going along well, when we are on a roll, choosing the positive path just flows through us as an easy, natural choice. When something negative comes along it can be far more challenging for us to choose the positive path. But choose it we must! No matter how challenging the negativity may be, there is simply no other way to bring our lives back into positivity.

If negative situations appear, you must use your will and refuse to lower yourself to negative thoughts, words, actions, and emotions. Use your will and decide that not only will you focus on the positive, but you will ramp up the positive in every thought, word, and action of your day.

It takes determination, strength, faith, and the power of your will to focus on the positive when intense negativity descends, but remember that the Universe and the law of attraction are with you. As you focus on the positive, focus more on the positive, think of the positive, speak of the positive, and take positive and good actions, the law of attraction will give your life wings. Suddenly you will look around you and you will find that the negativity has gone, and that your life has been filled with goodness and joy.

Good email!! I'm going to write that in my planner. I have trouble not succumbing to negative thinking.

Free abundance for you! party:

I always think of free samples as free abundance. :yay: We live in such a great country that some corporations have so much money, they can afford to give free stuff away!

Becky, I'm sending good thoughts and prayers your way. Keep us posted. And remember, if you don't get it then that is because something better is heading your way.

Have you guys seen Dances with Wolves? It's been a long time for me, but there is one scene I remember. Kevin Costner's character had become very close to one of the warriors. In one of the later scenes, the warrior said to John Dunbar (KC's character) that Kicking Bird's husband was his best friend, he didn't understand why he died. Later he realized that he had to go so John could come to them. That always stayed with me. Sometimes we can't have what we want because something else necessary to us is coming.

:grouphug:

DITTO what JodyLyn said. ::yes:: Just keep affirming, "This or something better now manifests for the highest good of ALL concerned" until the Universe gets so sick & tired of you say it, it just finally gives you what you want! :rotfl:

I said it to you in another post when you had a previous interview: Do not have an attitude of scarcity and lack. There are many great jobs out there. Even if you want this one.

I really don't care what the news on TV or in the newspapers say. It doesn't matter what is happening to other people. So unemployment is up 15% or something like that. YOU only need ONE good job, that is right for you. If you get a job, so what about that 15%? :confused3 Then you are in the 85% that gets work and it doesn't apply to you. :scratchin

DreaminDisney, you might be thinking there is no way your house will sell after last week. I don't care if they say this is not a good time to buy or sell a house right now. YOU only need ONE buyer, who has their financials in order, and are ready to move into a fabulous house that is absolutely right for them. You think if they have their financials straight and need to move that they will say, "Oh we can't move because of what happened with Lehman Brothers. It doesn't apply to us, but we can't move now anyway." :confused3

People moved during the Great Depression. They might have had a house way too big for them & needed to move into a lovely house they could afford.

An ex-BF's sis and family moved out of a fabulous million dollar home in CT, because they wanted to downsize their lives and focus in on what's more important, (their family,) with their time. They realized they didn't want to have to keep working the way they did to pay for a million dollar house. (It really did have one whole FLOOR they never really used. That was insane. ) It was during the Reagan years when spending & being extravagant was in. :sad2: They closed up a very successful restaurant here in NYC because it was such a time commitment, cut down their client load for another company they ran, and downsized to a nice 4 bedroom home. Last I heard, the whole family spends much of their time out of the home, in the local theatre, with the whole family doing community theatre productions together.
