I was going to make a shaker box to put the hair from my DD's first haircut in on the layout of her first haircut. Do you think that it will work? Or just look dumb?

I think that's a great idea (and I may just use it, too!)!:)

Do it! Great idea

I have made shaker boxes to hold special little items that my dd picks up.

Have fun!

Sounds good to me too!:thumbsup2

Great idea...

I have all my kids' hair saved from their first cuts and was wondering what to do with them....

Thanks for all the input - it looks like I might be making 2 "hair" shaker boxes now though. One for her first haircut and as of this morning one for her first "self-given" haircut. I knew it was only a matter of time. I haven't seen it yet and my mom said it isn't too bad. (She was cutting paper at the table with her littel safety scissors and my mom just went to the bathroom to come back and find hair instead) Mom was grateful they were dull safety scissors because she didn't know how much she would have cut if they hadn't been. I asked her if I'd have to take her to get it cut and she said she didn't think so. DD has hair down her back - she's 3 1/2 and all I've ever done is trim it. But in the big scheme of things a little hair cut is minor :rotfl:

Love your idea - can you take a pix when they are completed? Would love to see how you did them.

I see a layout in your future!!! LOL

The first self hair cut is as layout worthy as the first hair cut.:goodvibes

Definitely need a first self given hair cut LO..

My dear cousin cut her bangs all the way to her scalp when she was 3... why you ask.. because she wanted to see Scooby Doo without hair in her face!!!

My DS cut the top of his hair at the crown...with scrapbooking scissors! Took a nice little chunk out.. Thank goodness we were going for the summer cuts that afternoon and I had them fix it right up!

Ahhh, the self haircut...:rotfl: Hopefully it's not too bad. I have a "haircut" story too.

One morning my very loving and considerate DH decided to let me sleep in for a bit, since he had the day off. He would do this every now and then- it was a wonderful thing and I truely appreciated it. At this point in life, DS is 4 and DD had just turned 2. I have to mention that DD was born with little hair and what she had was very light in color. I would get frustrated because I couldn't really do anything to it- you know, the girly girl stuff. It didn't really start growing until she was a year old. And at this point, she had enough to start putting up and it was really curly.

That particular morning, DH woke me up and we had the following conversation:

DH: Uh, dear, I need you to get up.
Me: What's wrong? (could tell by his voice)
DH: Uh, I just need you to get up, come downstairs, and help me before you kill me.
Me: Why would I do that and what's wrong?
DH: Please just come downstairs and don't kill me!

I do as he asked. When I walked into the kitchen to get my morning dose of caffiene in a can (aka, Dt Pepsi), DD was sitting in her booster seat, at the kitchen table. I take a glance at her.  :headache: DD had some long hair here, some one inch patches there...

Long story shorter, while DH was trying to be nice to me, he had dozed in his easy chair (what is it w/men and these chairs??) for what he claimed was only a minute or two (hmmm...how 'bout 10?). In the meantime, DS decided he didn't like DD's hair in her face, so he helped her into her booster seat in the kitchen, turned on music for her so she would be happy (his words), and proceeded to cut her hair w/the kitchen scissors. I took her to my mother so she could try and fix it. I was in tears. My mother, who on the phone said, "Oh, it can't be THAT bad," was in tears. DD just has this look on her face like what's the big deal:confused3 . In the end, DD's hair was only about an inch long. By that afternoon, I could sorta see the bright side of it- at least nobody was hurt and the house was still standing. Oh, it was pretty quiet the rest of the day, too...:rolleyes1 And, needless to say, neither DH nor DS have made those mistakes again. Well, DH will still doze in his chair, but only when I'm awake!;)

Yes, this too shall pass...:)

For a minute I thought you were going to say the kids had cut your hair off and were trying to stick it on DD :lmao: Hair grwos! - But it doesn't on dolls and that's what got me into trouble, trying to "tidy" one of my DSis's well-loved dollies:lmao:

Well - after getting home and seeing it all I can say is it could have been much worse. She didn't get her bangs at all and she got two or 3 MAYBE 1/4" section around her face at long bang/almost chin level. Although it irritates me to no end....I think I'll still be able to pull it up in a pony and braid and french braid it so it will be okay in the end. Considering her hair is down to - oh mid-back or a little shorter when it's dry it could have been MUCH MUCH worse.

Okay how is this for a story you think little ones giving self hair cuts is funny my DsD just about 12 decided to cut her own hair about 3-4 weeks ago. Now not trim it or anything, not where your girlfriend cuts your hair.... she cut her bangs like a scalp level.... she did it with scissors but it looked like a razor shave. We have no idea what got into her. She now has bangs to have been able to cover it up so to speak.

Hey stranger. Long-time-no-see! I'm sure she looks like angel, with any kind of hair. ;) And I think a shaker box would be the perfect way to display her locks on a page.
