Ahhh, the self haircut...

Hopefully it's not too bad. I have a "haircut" story too.
One morning my very loving and considerate DH decided to let me sleep in for a bit, since he had the day off. He would do this every now and then- it was a wonderful thing and I truely appreciated it.

At this point in life, DS is 4 and DD had just turned 2. I have to mention that DD was born with little hair and what she had was very light in color. I would get frustrated because I couldn't really do anything to it- you know, the girly girl stuff. It didn't really start growing until she was a year old. And at this point, she had enough to start putting up and it was really curly.
That particular morning, DH woke me up and we had the following conversation:
DH: Uh, dear, I need you to get up.
Me: What's wrong? (could tell by his voice)
DH: Uh, I just need you to get up, come downstairs, and help me before you kill me.
Me: Why would I do that and what's wrong?
DH: Please just come downstairs and don't kill me!
I do as he asked. When I walked into the kitchen to get my morning dose of caffiene in a can (aka, Dt Pepsi), DD was sitting in her booster seat, at the kitchen table. I take a glance at her.

DD had some long hair here, some one inch patches there...
Long story shorter, while DH was trying to be nice to me, he had dozed in his easy chair (what is it w/men and these chairs??) for what he claimed was only a minute or two (hmmm...how 'bout 10?). In the meantime, DS decided he didn't like DD's hair in her face, so he helped her into her booster seat in the kitchen, turned on music for her so she would be happy (his words), and proceeded to cut her hair w/the kitchen scissors. I took her to my mother so she could try and fix it. I was in tears. My mother, who on the phone said, "Oh, it can't be THAT bad," was in tears. DD just has this look on her face like what's the big deal

. In the end, DD's hair was only about an inch long. By that afternoon, I could sorta see the bright side of it- at least nobody was hurt and the house was still standing. Oh, it was pretty quiet the rest of the day, too...

And, needless to say, neither DH nor DS have made those mistakes again. Well, DH will still doze in his chair, but only when I'm awake!
Yes, this too shall pass...
