All of my past WDW trips have been in NOV and AUG. I did do a very impromptu 5 day trip over Dec/Jan 2020/21 for my daughters golden birthday. I have never been to WDW in September. My sister and I have a vacation reserved for Sept currently.
Besides the rain and possible Hurricaine what do I need to know? OR what would like to tell me?

Depending on when in Sept. you go it can be very crowded or empty. If you go after most schools start, it shouldn't be too crowded. If you go around the holiday it will be busy. It will be hot, like 5th level of hell hot. It will rain every day, may be afternoon rain shower for 15 min., may be a 2 hour gully washer, may be an on and off rain all day but it will rain. After it rains it will be muggy, like walking through soup muggy. A lot of people are not prepared for how intense it can be. I'm from Georgia and I have to take a break in the afternoon and I don't even consider it warm until it's in the 80s.

I worry about the weather, heat/rain, but I am from VA and insane humidity and heat is the norm here as well. The rain is what worries me. We typically travel in June/July to Disney, so this is definitely outside of our norm. Hoping I don't regret choosing September!

I expect the later in the month you go, the better. The weather can be very much like August. We've only done 3 Sept trips in the past 20 years - and were impacted by hurricanes 2 of them. The good news for you is we're not coming this Sept, so you don't have to worry about us bringing a hurricane to you!!

Having to keep watching and worrying about what some tropical storm will do and how it might impact your trip is miserable. Will your actual trip be effected? What about flights around your trip? The uncertainty about what will even happen when you should be counting down the days and getting excited kind of robbed me of some of the joy of the Disney experience.

Plus, the humidity and heat. It’s like spending the day in a wet sauna.

We have gone the last 3 Septembers and will be there this September, as well. We have saved a lot of money but going in September. It is very hot but we take breaks. One thing I enjoy doing in September is Orlando's Magical Dining. Participating Restaurants offer a prix-fixe menu at a reduced rate and a portion of the proceeds goes to a charity. Some of the restaurants at Disney Springs participate. We had a wonderful meal at Jaleo last year and other meals in previous years off property. I assume they will do this promo in 2023 but it doesn't look like they have announced the info, yet. It is a great way to try expensive restaurants at a lower cost and perfect for a girls' trip.

You will be at Disney! Take breaks, pack your patience pants and drink water. Those are the rules I follow for all of my trips:) It will be great!

We went early September. Crowds were fairly low. However, it was HOT. Surface of the sun hot. Daily rain, but we had a great time. Prepare for the heat and you’ll have fun

I have been several times over Labor Day weekend. Extremely hot, full summer, don't let "September" fool you. The crowds usually aren't too bad, given that it's a holiday weekend. Though I have never been later in September, from what I hear, later is better both weather-wise and crowd-wise.

HOT...STEAMY...DOWNPOURS! I did it once and vowed I never would again. We were so drained and lightheaded after 2-3 hours in the park. Of course, things change and I would consider it for a staycation with PERHAPS EP for a day or two. That's about it! Oh yeah, stay hydrated!:drinking:

We have a Sister’s Trip planned for September as well!
I’m gonna follow this thread closely.

Last two trips were July/August with DS and it seems like the weather will be about the same… hot, muggy with afternoon storms.

So far, our plan is to have late lunches (around 2pm) to get a break from heat and rain. So, we’ll try and do longer TS meals then and QS meals for breakfast and maybe supper as well. That might work for you too.

Yes, yes, yes. Grew up in Florida, live in Georgia and can not do Florida in the daytime hardly from June-Sept. We went for Food and Wine and after an hour had to leave. SO hot and uncomfortable. If you do decide to go, do parks morning and evening, bring hat!

WE are planned for 21st thru 28th. I absolutely will not put a poncho on so if I get wet, I get wet. We are both of the mind-set to take it easy. We both enjoy all the shows so we'll get both a break from walking and a break from heat/rain.

On the bright side, many times rain (or the threat of rain) helps keep the crowds down! Enjoy your trip!
