Tell me about Keurig coffee makers are they worth it?

Thanks for the tip! I did see this one at BBB too and thought I'd probably love it because it's dark chocolate.

OP here, thank for all the replies!

I happneed to go to Kohl's as I had some Kohl's cash that had to be used before the weekend and they had them on sale! $116...so I used my 15% off coupon and my Kohl's cash for a great Christmas present for my DH.

Thanks to everyone! :santa:

Mine came with 72 Kcups and only one hot cocoa and I can't remember the brand. We didn't like how it turned out though. I haven't spent the money on other brands, i just put regular hot cocoa mix in a mug and use the hot water from the coffee maker. I do this with tea bags too. I have so many that I need to use up first before I buy the Kcups tea.

If you have the myKcup insert (I just got it for $8.99 on Amazon) you can open up the tea bag and dump it in there. It brews a cup a really good cup of tea according to DH and you don't have to wait for the teabag to steep :cool1: Much cheaper than the kcups!!!

That's a really good idea! Does the tea end up tasting like coffee though? our insert is used heavily for coffee and even though I wash it thoroughly, it smells like coffee too. I wonder if the coffee taste would come out in the tea, or if it's not noticeable?

I ended up getting the B40 today at JCPenny. I'm going to return the B70 to Kohls when it gets here. I paid $90 w/tax and will get a $10 rebate. I couldn't justify the extra $60.

I ran up and got a second one today. I noticed that you need to send the rebate in by 12/31 and you need the original UPC. Its a good thing both of them will be opened at my house Christmas morning but I hope I remember to cut the UPC off the boxes before I throw them away.

Just wanted to pop back in....someone asked about the Iced coffee option....my understanding is that it does not directly MAKE iced coffee, you are just making the coffee and adding the ice to it.
also, someone else said why the larger model versus mini if just making a cup at a time....the water "holder" is just for one cup on the mini, others are larger, thus your not filling it up with water again, thats primary difference.....I got the mini for my dad...hes alone..hope this helped.....if anyone else can further clarify, perhaps they can jump in....

Is the mini able to hold a travel mug? I went with the bigger one because it has the removable drip tray so one can fit, I wasn't sure if the mini could.

He is right! They have Keurigs in the rooms at Universal Studios on site hotels, and they feature Emeril's coffees. We really enjoyed it (the reason why I bought one for myself!) I am thinking it was an espresso. Stands the spoon up, I would have to agree on this-it certainly pops your eyes open!

Yeah, I could not believe that Royal Pacific had the Keurigs and gave you a BUNCH of K-cups each day!!

And I love Emeril's Bold too.....it is strong, but I am from Louisiana where we stand spoons up in our coffee...can't stand the weak stuff--you might as well have hot water.

To get the taste more like the cappucino machines in service stations, I sometimes mix two flavors of the coffee. It works well with mixing Timothy's WHITE hot cocoa with a vanilla or hazelnut flavor K-cup.

Bought a b77 from costco today. Tried two different flavors, I really like the vanilla one. It came w/ the kcup brew your own insert and w/ 72 k cups of different varieties and did have the "iced coffee" size. Which as was reported earlier means it brews hot and you add ice. $139....thanks for all the advice on the keurig threads on the boards!

I ordered one from QVC a couple of days ago and it should arrive tomorrow! I can't wait to try it!

I had been wanting a Keurig for so long, and was so happy to get in on the QVC TSV. I got it yesterday, and I am already so in love with it!! I only make coffee on the weekend, so this was perfect for me. I made my first cup last night -- tried the Timothy's decaf that came in the variety pack -- and absolutely loved it. SO good. I can't wait until tomorrow to brew my first "high octane" cup -- I just can't decide which one to try! I'm leaning toward the Donut Shop one, though. :)

DS and I tried the hot chocolate also, and it was as horrid as everyone has said. :crazy2:

But I can't get over how quiet and how fast the thing is!! Since this came with the My K-cup, I might just get me some Dunkin' Donuts ground coffee and actually enjoy a cup when I'm getting ready in the mornings on weekdays.

And I love how futuristic it looks in my kitchen, especially at night all glowing blue. :goodvibes

Got a good deal at Kohl's last night.

Single cup $89.99 - 8.99 (10% power hour deal), - 12.15 (15% off coupon) = $68.85
Special edition $129.99 - 12.99 (10% power hour deal), - 17.55 (15% off coupon) = $99.45
$68.85 + $99.45 - $30 (kohl's cash) = 138.30 (& 2 Christmas gifts paid for)

Thanks for the quick response. That is exactly what I wanted to know. I would love to find a good hot chocolate maker or mix that is better than swiss miss. I am just going to have to ask at church what kind of hot chocolate they use. It is so chocolatey and good. I am sure it has something to do with their mix and the nice industrial machine they use.

Try a coco motion, I bought one at a rummage sale and love it. Brand new they are $20 to $30. You put your hot chocolate mix in and then add either water or milk, when you turn it on it mixes everything for you and heats it up to the perfect temperature, it has a little spiget to dispense your hot chocolate. It makes up to 32 ounces at a time. I was really impressed with it, and my kids love it, no mess and easy to do. This way you can use any hot chocolate with it, our favorite is the godiva hot chocolate, by far the best.

we have a reg coffie maker that we never use...I am stuck on starbucks! I think coffie is the best when someone else makes it lol

We have a Keurig and have had it for almost two years. I know that lots of folks say it is expensive to buy the coffee versus brewing your own.....but we enjoy having every cup fresh. My husband no longer buys a single cup outside of the house. When we were brewing coffee, so much was thrown away because I insist on drinking only fresh coffee and to me, that means if it has been sitting more than 10 minutes in a coffee pot, I don't want it. We also wake up at different times in the morning, so there was always someone having stale coffee...or just throwing it out. We no longer throw out an ounce of coffee. Every cup is fresh and is exactly what we want. Between DH and me, we drink a combined 7 cups per day. This is about the cost of a single cup of a premier cup outside the home.

Because folks have tried the Keurig at our home, we can name at least 7 other family members who have purchased one!

We have tried many different coffees, and most are too weak for me. I always make the smallest setting coffee. My DH likes his a bit weaker and will make the larger coffee with what I consider weaker blends.

By far the strongest and richest cup of coffee is the Emeril's coffee. I would say that this is similar to Starbucks. On the smallest cup setting, this is a very pleasant eye opener each morning!

The Paul Newman's coffee is quite tasty, but it is certainly not "extra bold" as it claims to be. It is too weak when made on anything but the smallest setting.

The coffee people donut shop "extra bold" is also a very mild tasing coffee to me....very close to Dunkin Donuts.

Timothy's colombian decaf is wonderful. It has a hearty flavor and is my favorite of all the decafs.

Some of the flavored coffees are quite good and the best "seasonal" one is the cinnamon pastry coffee by Timothy's. It actually tastes like you are drinking a cinnabon! YUM.

We buy the pods at BBB with either the 20% off coupons or $5 off a purchase of $15. We also buy at Kohl's when they have them for 8.99 and then use a % off coupon. We have also purchased on onegreatcup.com (picked up that tip on these boards.)

When we were on vacation in November, the only thing we missed from home was that beautiful fresh coffee each morning.

We've only had it for 24 hours, but Newman's Own Bold and Green Mtn. Decaf Hazelnut have been big hits! It was liked better than the Timothy brand.

I thought this was the budget board. A Keurig coffee pot costs 4X-5X the cost of a drip coffee pot. The per cup cost of a cup of Keurig coffee is almost 10X the cost of a cup of coffee brewed with a drip coffee pot.

It may make sense if different family members want a different type of coffee, one wants de caf, one wants a flavor etc but buying a Keurig pot instead of a drip pot is never a budget decision.

Yes the is the Budget board, and most here would agree that everyone who has a Keurig or is looking for one knows that it costs roughly 40 cents per cup. People are posting to help each other find the best deal for the machine -- thus the BUDGET part of these Keurig posts.
