Tell me about Keurig coffee makers are they worth it?

It appears no one has factored in the cost (in time and effort) it takes to locate the best deals on cups... and, where the heck do you store all those things?

Hey, I'm giving mine as gifts so that not my problem :lmao:
J/K I plan on ordering them through Amazon and having them ship directly to my dad. For dh I will hunt around for the best deal at local b&m's or order them from online. I don't mind having to hunt down the good deal, its the one sport I'm good at ;)
I admit I haven't thought about the storage but where there's a will there's a way.

I set ours up today. DH tried the decaf that came in the variety pack that came with the QVC special. He said it was gross (tastes rancid) and told me not to throw away the old pot. I have to find a decaf he likes!

My wife has been using Coffee People French Roast decaf and says it is good.

Add us to the list of Keurig lovers. I am not a coffee drinker at all and I admit I was very skeptical but this thing is great. First of all, it is just cool. It doesn't really take up any more space than the single cup brewer my wife used before but it is much more useful. Even though I don't drink coffee, I use it for tea, hot chocolate and white hot chocolate. DD does, too. Also, it is idiot-proof so that quite a few times, I've made DW's coffee for her when I happened to be up or when she wasn't feeling well. That never happened before.

Great gift and well worth it.

We buy all our cups at Amazon because I get a lot of gift credits from surveys I do. Otherwise, we'd get them at Bed, Bath and Beyond with 20% off.

Quick tip for all of you new Keurig owners: check the "best if used by" dates on the sample box you get with the brewer. My husband is...well...a coffee snob and was disappointed that every sample in the box had a best if used by date of sometime last year (brewer was purchased about a month ago). He wrote them via the customer service link on the Keurig site. Within 24 hours they responded. They said the coffee should still be good, since they Nitrogen purge everything, there is no air in them, they stay fresh.... anyhow, we also got a coupon code for a free box from their website. This stacked with the buy 2 get 2 free promo for registering. Basically got 4 boxes of cups for a little over $11 (buy 2 get 2, one free box, 10% off and free shipping). By far one of the better deals I have gotten in awhile.

Long story short....if your Kups are past the Use by date, it dosen't hurt to question them about it.

Ok, I cheated and opened my single cup brewer early (was supposed to be for Christmas) and I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE it. I only drank StarBucks breakfast blend before my Keurig and love the Green Mountain Breakfast Blend. I'm so hooked that I already put my 4-cup coffee maker in the attic.

green mountain coffee . com is having free shipping on any order now through Dec 15th

I have ordered some of the k-cups via them

On Friday I ordered Kcups from Keurig getting the 2 free boxes when 2 boxes are purchased (from registering it on-line), free shipping and a $2 off coffee club discount. So for $25.11 I got 96 Kcups, I just wish it would get here! I want to try that german chocolate cake coffee!

I want to thank you for this info. I registered dh's Keurig today and got the code for 2 free boxes. I still have another Keurig to register so I'll wait to see what flavors are better and then do it and order them.

I have to add my thanks as well. I got my Keurig LAST Christmas, but hadn't ever registered it. I am usually so good about that, but this time I'm glad I hadn't...got the great kcup deal too!

are there any great sales/codes this weekend? Looking to get the platinum but want to find it a little cheaper.

OP here again, this thread has taken on a life of it's own! After reading everyone's responses I can't wait for DH to open his Christmas present! I wish I could open it early...but I won't. Everytime he complains about our Mr. Coffee coffee I laugh and laugh.

Christmas morning will be fun! Thanks to all the advice I have gotten here.

Is there an important difference that I'm missing? B70 is more expensive, has larger water tank, can make larger cups of coffee?

I always thought these devices looked neat (I'm a kitchen gadget fan), but didn't think so practical for me and wondered if the coffee is good.
I didn't have a Christmas wish list, but this may be it! I love coffee, I drink a couple or three cups each day, but have to reheat in microwave. (MY current has a great grinder but no warming plate).
DH likes a cup once or twice a week in the evening and then it's often flavored.
I go to Starbucks about once a month, so no big savings there. But, I buy Starbucks beans and usually throw out 1/3 to 1/2 pot most days (I know I should make less). Actually, I do think I would drink less if it wasn't already made.

Bed Bath and Beyond demonstrated the Bosch brand. It was pretty good. But, I haven't read a word of it so I'm guessing Keurig is the way to go.

What is a good holiday variety? I am having a party on Saturday and want to have some on hand!

How do you use it for Tea? Does it make a really hot cup?

Our Tea Kettle (electric) is on it last leg and if this will work then I may ask for this....I like to drink coffee every so often but hate throwing out a whole pot!

TIA

Ok nvm just went to the Kuering website and I see they do the teas like the coffees .... that will not work for DH they will not be strong enough

I just use it to make the hot water and then put in my own tea bag.

BB&B has a holiday variety pack that has 48 K-Cup for $24.99 (only $19.99 after 20% off coupon) ---> 12 each of Spicy Eggnog, Gingerbread, Golden French Toast and Holiday Blend coffees. We liked all of them except the Spicy Eggnog which we thought was just nasty. Also, Pumpkin Spice is good.

can you use the 20% off coupons on the machine itself?

So which one is best? Is the basic one ok or do you really need to buy one of the upgraded editions?

What are the differences in the models?
