Ok. This is our first Disney buffet AND our first character meal. What do I need to know??? From what I gather you get your photo taken and then you are seated. Then your server takes your drink order and releases you on the food. Then eventually the characters will grace your table for photos...and autographs?? Am I right so far?? Then .... what....does your server bring you your bill and you pay him/her? Or do you go to some area to check out? Do you leave the tip on the table or would it be best to give it personally to your server? I am assuming you tip, correct??
Oh, about the photos do they bring them to your table or do you purchase them when you check out?
I'd love to hear your answers to my questions and any reviews you might like to give :)
Thanks

You've got the procedure down! You're server will bring you your bill, you pay the server and we always leave our tip on the table. Actually we usually charge to our room card and add the tip onto the bill. Someone will come around and leave the pictures with you so you can look them over and decide if you want to purchase them.. They will come back a bit later to see if you want to buy them.

Also very important here.... when Mickey comes to the room you're seated in you must wave your napkin in the air, over your head! The CMs lead this so you'll know what to do and when.

We go to Chef Mickeys for either breakfast or dinner every time we visit WDW.

Oh yeah, after you eat you go through an area on your way out where you can get photos and autographs with Goofy and Donald Duck!

Thanks!! We'll be sure to wave our napkins!! Thanks for the tip about getting autographs with Goofy and Donald!! My kids are so excited - who am I kidding I'm excited too
Thanks Again!!

The picture you take is given to you during the course of your meal to look at. The package consisits of 2 5x7's, keychain, magnet and 4 wallet size pictures for $26.00 + tax. Enjoy Chef Mickey's eat there for dinner on our 1st time and breakfast on our last day. It has become our tradition that last few years. We were just there Monday for breakfast. It was so good. Don't know if this is usual, but they took 2 photos when we went last year - a family one, and one with just DD, thus 2 packages they wanted us to buy.

YIKES!! I'm such a sucker for photos :guilty: I'll just have to resolve to only the one of the whole family. Unless of course "I" don;t look good in said photo, then photos of just the kids it is!! :rotfl2:

I'm a sucker for photos too..but $26 for all that isnt bad!!!

You have the procedure down pretty well. Server will bring you check and you leave tip. I use my room key and add tip to bill. Also I did not buy photo when I was leaving after breakfast I got a phot with Santa Goofy. CM took the photo with my camera as with all my othe pictures since I travel solo they where very helpful in doing this for me.I have wonderful pictures with all the Char. But the one with Santa Goofy is my love. I hope to get Pooh's gang this year at CP.The breakfast spread is great and very enjoyable.

What does the waving of the napkin do, or is this something I want to find out while I'm there ? I've read about the napkin waving all over but still don't know. We will be going there from breakfast in Feb. Thanks

I have a quick question about the picture. Is it possible to add the photo to your photopass?

My kids (DD11 and DS9) are looking forward to Chef Mickey's.

It is just a time when they turn up the excitement. The characters dance and parade around the room with the CMs, the music gets louder, everyone claps.....just a magical Disney moment!!

When we were there during the holidays last year, they had Krispy Kreme glazed donuts on the buffet!!!! I  Krispy Kreme.

You wave your napkin to help celebrate any birhtdays in the area. My DD (13) loved it when Mickey himself stood next to her during the birthday celebration :)

Mickey's friend, Thank you I've been trying to get info for sometime now.

How well do the characters interact with tables when there are no kids involved?

When we were there last (8/12), the best interaction we saw was between Goofy and a table that had two college-age looking guys there. Goofy "goofed" on them the whole time they were seated... sitting with them, high-fiving them any time they passed. Then one of the guys said something like he was giving Goofy a hard time, and next time the guys got up for the buffet, Goofy made a big show of putting the guy's car keys (which he had left on the table) into his water glass and "shushing" everyone watching so we wouldn't tell.

When the guys got back, Mickey was there and he "ratted" on Goofy by pointing him out. The guys really got a kick out of it and hammed it up. So Goofy walked over with a napkin held out, miming for them to give him the keys and he'd dry them off. They gave them to him, and he ran off to the kitchen with them.

About 5 minutes later, a CM brings Goofy out, and makes Goofy return the keys. Goofy walks off with his head hanging low, until one of the guys notices that a key is missing, at which point Goofy took off running again.

This was a late breakfast seating, and generally everyone was getting more time with the characters, but I thought it was great that he spent so much time with these 20-year old looking guys, making sure they had just as great of a time as the 2-year old girl having her birthday across the room.

But Goofy generally impresses me... I love me some Goofy. :goodvibes
