I know you're paying mostly for the experience and princess interaction and that there's no direct comparison with other character breakfasts as far as the food (as it seems to be a hybrid between a buffet and family style), but what's the food quality like compared to other character breakfasts?

I did the Akershus breakfast several years ago before it was all princesses (Alice and Mary Poppins were there). The food was excellent. The potatoes were outstanding in particular. I'm doing the breakfast this year for my 2YO DD. I hope it's as good as I remember!

we personally didn't like the buffet at all at Akershus.

Buffet? There is a small buffet area that has bagels and such, but the meal is served family style. Eggs, potatoes, bacon, sausage and you can get more of one or the other. I think that this is a great character breakfast. It is interactive the kids get to march around the restaurant with the princesses, picture with Belle and the yellow dress and the I think the food is not bad I love the potatoes. I tried lunch here once and it was terrible but the breakfast is good, I have an ADR for my upcoming trip. I would rank the food quality for a character breakfast 2nd only to Tusker House. Chef Mickeys, Crystal Palace, Hollywood and Vine, are another rung down and I don't care for the food at any of those. CRT and Cape May Café have good food too. Just MHO

Maybe it was lunch then?? We went quite a few years ago for lunch and I remember it being buffet style. Our last visit we did breakfast, and yes, the buffet area had the bagels and such but the rest was brought to the table.

We love the breakfast there. The biscuits with the one jam are really good. The potatoes are also really yummy.

We went in March and overall the experience was OK. I didn't care much for the food but my husband enjoyed it. The character interaction was ok... they seemed to move around pretty quickly and not spend much time with the kids. We're going to skip it on our next trip. Unless you have die hard princess fans, I'd skip it. I prefer Tusker House or Ohana.

I thought breakfast at Akershus was delicious- one of the best that trip. The hot food is all served to your table family style. The cheesey potatoes in particular were some of the best breakfast potatoes I've ever had. Plus, bacon!!!

The buffet was all cold food. It was standard, but good. The strawberry yogurt was fantastic, the pastries were delicious, the fruit was fresh, but other than that it was nothing outstanding- just good.

Worth doing at least once, especially if someone in your party is really into meeting princesses!

Swe ate there last year for breakfast. Cold buffet and hot is served family style. The food was good (we actually ate all the eggs which is unheard of for us), character interaction was the worst we had that trip. We have done it twice and we are marking it off our list for next year.

I like the slightly off beat selections on the cold buffet (lingonberry filling in the Danishes, Norwegian cheeses, etc). The family style platter is pretty good, potatoes are delicious, fat salty sausages same as 'Ohana breakfast, same Disney bacon and eggs.

It isn't a stand out from a food perspective. I would only go there if meeting princesses was something on your to do list,

While I enjoyed the potatoes and smoked salmon, the rest was either not good or nothing special. Compared to other breakfasts at crystal palace or tusker house, it was definitely substandard. We won't do it again

We ate there about 5 yrs ago. I thought it was ok, husband didn't like it. We prefer Tusker House for a character breakfast buffet.

We always go for breakfast. The food is good, but it's pretty standard buffet breakfast food. It's nice that it's kind of a mash up of hot and cold so there's something for everyone.

I really like the lingonberry cream cheese!

It's a favorite for our family. We have two princess loving girls and enjoyed the breakfast food a lot. My ODD always requests that we go, it's a great experience.

I've only had lunch here, and it was similar to breakfast as described by PP above. There is that cold buffet area where you can help yourself, but it's really just an "extra". You actually order off the menu for lunch (and dinner, too):

I feel like the only true buffet in Epcot is Biergarten? Am I missing something? Can't think of another one.

We prefer lunch and dinner at Akershus over breakfast. The cold bar/buffet seems to have more options at the later meals and I like the menu items over the family style breakfast plate. The breakfast food was just avg to us. I know people rave about the potatoes, but they didn't do much for me. I guess it's a matter of personal preferences. Ultimately, while I like other character breakfasts better (CP, CRT, 1900 and Cape May have been our food faves of all of the character breakfasts), I still think Akershus is worth trying...especially if you can get the earliest of the pre-park opening slots.
