I just realized that the Treehouses would be big enough to fit my whole family and save us points. I was planning on booking 3 savannah view studios at AKV. I don't have enough points for a grand villa. And a 2 bedroom isn't enough room. I talked to my sister and she said it's not a big deal if we don't stay at AK. I can't find a floor plan for them. Any help you guys can provide a would be a great thing. TIA.

You can't beat the points for a treehouse! It's not as big as a grand villa but does have three bedrooms! 2 with queen beds and one with bunk beds! We didn't stay in a treehouse but close by in The Grandstand. We took several walks through the treehouses and my kids fell in love. We took the treehouse boat to DTD several times and it was lovely! Will you have a car? If not, to get to the parks you will board a bus in the treehouses that takes you into SSR where you transfer to the theme park buses. Doesn't seem like a deal breaker to me, but might seem cumbersome to others. There are some great videos on youtube of the treehouses..

I wish I could, I've waitlisted twice without success! Shut out for 1st of June, waitlisting again!

Is it hard to get a ressie for the Treehouses? SSR is my home resort so I can book at 11 months. I'm looking for 12/5-12/11.

I called on the morning of my 11 month mark and got the last one available.

It's my goal to get enough points at SRR to be able to stay at the tree houses once every 3 years. I think it's great they have nearly 100 of them. DH and I said to each other back in the early 90s how great it would be to stay at one of them. Of course, this is before they knocked down the old ones not being used for this purpose and rebuilt them all but I'm glad they finally did see the wisdom in it.
Now is that 91 tree houses currently in use or including the ones being built still? I'm just recalling what our DVC van driver said as we drove by.

We just came back on the 13th. We loved them. We had a THV on the water and it was great watching the ferries go by.
There were 6 of us. My Husband and I, my son and his girlfriend, my other son and my daughter. We had plenty of room. The 2 bathrooms helped also. If you can stay there go, you will love it. There is also a sleeper sofa and a twin bed chair.
I made reservations for Oct. 2010 at the THv while I was sitting out on the deck.:cheer2:

We loved our stay in the THV for a couple of nights last Nov with 8 adults and 1 child. I felt the layout worked great for a large group without feeling crowded. The bunkbeds even worked for my father and sister to share the third bedroom. The large deck outside would be great for a BBQ. Our unit was by the bus stop and we never waited more than a few minutes for a bus to SSR. If I could take one home and put on our few acres I would be on :cloud9:.

They are OUTSTANDING. :thumbsup2 Request #7026. A beautiful water view and you can wave at the boats as they sail by. :goodvibes

We LOVED them. We had 7 adults and 3 kids (one under 1 year) and we fit just fine. The only thing I would have done different was relax more at the room on the deck. We didn't do enough of that.

There are 60 tree houses. They are all open and available for use. None are still under construction. Only 30 of the 60 units have been declared into DVC inventory so far.

Huh. I wonder why the driver would say there were that many more and I thought I saw pix of current construction. :confused3 No matter. It's just odd to have them say that.

I'm really bummed. No go on the Treehouses. Mom vetoed the idea. She wants her own space. I was already planning what to do with the extra points I would have saved. DH suggested we stay at OKW to save points or AKV value rooms. I don't want to seem cheap but I could plan a whole nother trip for my family using those extra points. What to do. What to do.

Jamie whos points are these? yours or your mom's??, If it was our DVC and we INVITED my MOM she'd be thrilled with any accomodations we offered, just as we would be if the reverse was true.

Thats how it works for us too. I show my parents the options, but ultimately
they are just happy to be our guests.

The points are mine, well mine and DH's. We invited everyone. We are gifting the points for my parents room to them and renting the points for my sister's to her. Still $650 for 5 nights in a AKV savannah view isn't anything to sneeze about. This is our first "family" vacation and Mom wants it to be as enjoyable as possible for Dad. He tends to get grumpy easily. She wants him to want to go on family vacations again in the future. Today I was thinkling about getting everyone value rooms instead of savannah view since DH wants to take the point difference and go to Hilton Head for DS's bday but mom vetoed that too. She wants to be able to see the animals. Oh well.
