Teens On The CB

I've noticed a couple things recently regarding posters on the TB coming over to the CB. A few of the comments regarding the posters weren't very nice.

So I'm wondering. Whats you're opinion? Do you think the CB should be adults only? Is everyone welcome here?

Isn’t the community board for the entire community? As long as you have something relevant to add to a thread and you conduct yourself appropriately, does it really matter if you’re 10, or 110?

Many posters don't even like to show their age so their age is anyone’s guess...I guess it all boils down to how you present yourself and how you’re able to participate. Just IMO.

I agree that it should be for everyone, but I believe there's an invisible bar of maturity that should be displayed. Those 2 threads were nothing other than .

It shouldn't be age specific.

There are "adult" posters on the CB who can't conduct themselves appropriately, so it's not just a teen thing. If the person can respect others and not cause problems, then age shouldn't be a factor.

I don't mind teens coming over to the CB, but those kinds of threads like the gas problem one are just dumb and boring to a lot of us. It's like some third graders learned how to get on the DIS and typed some dirty words just to see them in print.

That is a good point. I have seen several people think that Sparx is an adult because of the way that she posts. There have been a couple of things said to her that I think probably wouldn't have been so harsh, if the other person knew that she was a teenager.

And for you Miss Sparx.. sometimes the only way that I can have a conversation with you is on the dis, and I don't think you like it when I hunt you down on the TB.. so I'm not going to complain when you come over here as long as you behave!

There are just as many rude adults here sometimes as there are teens.

I kinda take things the teens say with a grain of salt, because those teenage years can be volatile, and most of them turn out OK.

Unless someone tells me their age, I have no idea if they're a teen, elderly, a child, middle aged, young adult etc. I try to treat everyone the same so age doesn't matter to me at all.

I've always thought the CB was for anyone and everyone and I still think and feel that way. There are no guidelines that suggest otherwise. There are boards on the DIS for Teens, Adults and Singles, Families, blah, blah, blah and the CB is what ties those boards together, it is for the entire DIS community, not just a specific group as the other boards are ... good, bad, or indifferent.

LOL, sadly, I have seen adults post much worse than that!

Well, actually, no!

The only time I look at a profile to see how old someone is, is if someone talks about "going" with someone, whose best friend used to like that person, but that person liked Susie, who never liked him anyway. So are they going together or not? But it doesn't matter, because they're going to break up anyway, because they're bored.

I agree that it would be helpful if there was some sort of marker on underage posters that we could use to identify who we're talking to.

Saxoon, I once sent you a pm about a thread we were both on. I don't think I would have reached out to pm you if I had known at that time you were a teenager. I probably would have asked the question on the thread or just forgot about it.

The idea of an adult sending pm's to teenagers online creeps me out a little bit.

afraid of who you're calling sexy? I do agree with you, yes this is a family web site and the Community Board is for everyone but sometimes we get into subject matter that is a bit PG13. I would rather the teens stay on the teens board, that's what it's for Just my humble opinion.
