We came up with this great plan of me taking the Keys to the World Card and walking as fast as possible to the Splash Mountain Fastpass. And DSis would get us breakfast at Main Street Bakery. Technical Difficulty – Dsis needed the Key to the World to charge the snack credits!

Unfortunately I never realized this but she did and took her time walking up Main Street.

DSis stops to take a photo of the time. She's got plenty of it while she waits for me back at Main Street.

I almost stopped my Splash Mountain dash to get a picture with him, but instead snapped a shot as I trotted by.

P6050022.jpg
Frontierland was empty!

I hobbled back to the bakery – I had managed to get cramps in both calf muscles! I felt like I had just run an 8K – should have been stretching during that hour wait at rope drop!

Had yummy hot cinnamon roll and DSis had a chocolate croissant. I had read on DIS that the cinnamon rolls weren’t as good anymore from MSB. I had never had one before so I can’t compare – but this was warm, gooey, sweet, and HUGE! The chocolate croissant was flaky with dark chocolate.

We got in line to ride Snow White in Fantasyland followed by going in to watch Philharmagic – I had never seen it before and I was blown away – the musical numbers are terrific. It’s really an attraction adults will enjoy as much as children – the quintessential Disney attraction.

P6050051.jpg

I went over to Tomorrowland to pick up fastpasses for Buzz Lightyear and DSis met me at Pirates of the Caribbean.

Along the way, I saw Push and this

We had back to back cruises – there were so few people in Adventureland that we walked on first the left line and then decided to do the right line.

P6050067.jpg

We then cashed in our Splash Mountain fast pass – the stand by was already 50 minutes and our wait was 5! The new lap bar isn’t a big deal – it goes across both passengers.

100_0216.jpg

And we didn’t get as wet as we have in the recent past – the jets that used to get you when another log came down while you were rounding the bend, no longer hits your log.

When the CM asked us her survey questions one was what attractions we considered “must do” and we said Splash Mountain, Pirates of the Caribbean and Jungle Cruise at night (just what came to my mind – Dsis was sorry she forgot to mention Snow White). When asked why Splash Mountain I said I love the story of Brer Rabbit – I remember the songs and stories so well from my childhood and the theme is so great in the ride. It’s the truth…

Great TR. I love your photos and details. It really stinks that they didn't pick you guys to be the family of the day. You are family too. Oh well. I guess they just like the idea of little kids. Thanks for the great pictures. It makes leaving in one week that much more exciting. :goodvibes

Since we were over in Frontierland and we already ate at Columbia Harbour House – we ate at Pecos Bill.

By the time we stepped out of Pecos Bill, Frontierland was packed. We fought the crowds and headed to Tomorrowland to use the fastpass on Buzzlight year. I had hoped to redeem myself, but nearly to the end of the game/attraction DSis was 20,000 ahead of me but then we had one last shot as the photos go off and I found my Z. I managed to come from behind to be 15,000 ahead of DSis in the end! When we got out of the ride we stopped to check out the photo – we hadn’t bought any photos yet and this one we could not pass up…

scan0001.jpg

Even the CM had a hard time not laughing.

P6050084.jpg

We took the Peoplemover for a spin – no line this time – and laughed and laughed at the look on DSis’ face in the Buzz photo.

P6050088.jpg

We walked back through Fantasyland and stopped to read the walls advertising the future attractions there and blocking the construction. The new castle seems cool!

Before heading out for the afternoon we stopped on Main Street to enjoy the Dapper Dans (different Dans then the other day). And of course stopped by the confectionery for candy – definitely the most stressful part of the day was deciding what to buy with the snack credits. We planned to get a snack each to take back to the resort.

We then headed to the bus will all our goodies and three fastpasses each to use tonight.

:goodvibes Hey, thanks for reading! No, we were happy for the family that were picked - they were super cute and even the dads were excited.

Best wishes for your trip! Happy Packing!!!:thumbsup2

So I got word that I didn't get the job that I had interviewed (in a three hour interview and follow-up phone interview) the morning after I got back from vacation. oh well. And sitting at my current job I'm thinking I would rather be waiting for a Disney bus than be sitting here!

I have to update next on the part of the trip when mom and dad finally decide to join us. After all this trip was to celebrate mom's birthday and dad's graduation (master's in museum studies).

Mom and Dad arrived (they were staying at the Hilton Downtown Disney) and we all dived into the two snacks and the krispy treat – the Smore was everyone’s favorite followed closely by the treat.

P6050014.jpg
dad the grad

Dad drove us all over to the California Grill. We checked in about 30 minutes before our seating and were escorted upstairs to the bar. We would have ordered drinks but the waiter in the bar, Karl, wasn’t in the mood to serve our family. For some reason he really blew us off. We would have each ordered a cocktail and mom was eyeing the cheese platter but he never took our order. Dad sat at our table at the bar while DSis, mom and I went to the restroom and checked out the view on the platform outside and then were seated in the dining room – we ordered our cocktails and cheese board (and a cheese flatbread) from our waiter, Daniel, who was great!

P60500192.jpg

P60500242.jpg
view from our table!!!

DSis had excused herself as soon as we were seated and had gone to the podium to order the cake for mom. The woman at the podium wasn’t very helpful in ordering the cake and Daniel came to the rescue - the woman wasn’t letting DSis pay for the cake separate of our tab. Daniel also saved the day again by suggesting that it say happy birthday and congratulations (for dad’s graduation) – the woman hadn’t asked about what it should say and DSis didn’t even know it could be personalized. DSis ordered a chocolate cake from Daniel.

P60500462.jpg

Daniel brought over the cake and he even had it situated so that mom and dad’s personalization was in front of each of them. It was so pretty.

P60500552.jpg

P6050056.jpg

We got complimentary champagne with the cake – which Daniel had taken back to cut for each of us and then package up the rest (1/2 the cake) for us to take.

P6050058.jpg

Mom was thrilled with her birthday meal (it was actually the night before her birthday but she wanted to spend her birthday at the waterpark and we didn’t think we could handle California Grill after that!).

P60500592.jpg

After dinner we had an hour or so before the fireworks and we all were too full to do anything. Luckily the Contemporary hotel has compfy lounge chairs here and there and the four of us went into commas.

100_0252.jpg

recent university grad crashing on the Contemporary's couch

We then went up to see the fireworks from the viewing deck. We decided to go to the back deck to see the fireworks from Epcot – it’s really hard to see them from there, but it was nice to see the electrical water pageant (which we had never seen before). The hour went by fast and no one else came out to join us (apparently everyone else went to the front two decks). We had a nice view of the castle and the fireworks though my photos aren’t that nice.

It took a long time to get on the elevator to the lobby and mom and dad headed to their hotel, while DSis and I made our way to the monorail. We really should have walked or taken dad’s offer to drive us to the Magic Kingdom. It took an hour to get in the park – the monorail went around the opposite way we imagined – it went to the transportation center (and was PACKED with people coming from the park) to Poly to Grand Floridian to MK.

When we got to MK we were blocked by the parade and couldn’t get through.

you were cute a couple nights ago, now I just want you to swirl and whirl by a little faster!

When we did get through we immediately went to the Jungle Cruise. I had said that was one of the three must do’s for me. The CM didn’t know about that and had never done it herself. I didn’t see Jungle Cruise on the sheet they handed us on entering the park so I was worried it wasn’t open for EMH. But it was! And it was so cool at night. Literally – it’s not as hot. It is also very dark and for some reason after wine and champagne the jokes seemed much funnier too.

P60501142.jpg

P6050115.jpg
I think I saw it in Animal Kingdom next to Kali Rapids

We were again stopped by the parade so we turned back and went on Pirates – for the third time today! Good thing I also mentioned that as my must do. I was very honest in my survey!

We then went on Splash Mountain with everyone else post parade. I had fastpasses to use but they weren’t taking them. We had to go in the standby line and it was massive. Actually according to DSis it was 17 minutes – but I have to say it was the hottest, most humid, most buggy, 17 minutes of the trip.

Next we went to Fantasyland where we were able to use the fastpass for Peter Pan – we honestly thought they weren’t taking fast passes during EMH and I almost threw them out – thank goodness I didn’t! The line for Peter Pan was huge – EMH really doesn’t mean that much since there are so many resorts. There were shorter lines early in the morning than during EMH. But for the less popular rides it was a great time to take a spin. So we went on the Carrousel and Tea Pots with hardly anyone else around!

P6060121.jpg

Before leaving we walked through Tomorrowland and thought we would try Stitch. Neither of us had done it and though we had heard bad things we were thinking we should try it for ourselves. We hated it. It was like a torture chamber. I feel so sorry for the CMs who have to work in it.

After stopping in the gift shop for more pins, we headed out for the bus. I really do not recommend opening and closing a park in the same day, with EMH!!!

This morning we had planned to sleep in – finally – but mom likes to get going early and so when we left her last night she said she’d be at our room at 8:15.

I got up early and walked the ten minutes to Old Port Royal to get beverages in our refillable mug and took a moment to enjoy the nature and the peace of the early morning – the only other people around are the annoying runners - I couldn’t figure out if these people have crazy stamina or if this was just their first morning at WDW and they hadn’t yet opened and closed a park and speed-walked miles and miles for fastpasses.

Dad and Mom brought a plate of chocolate covered strawberries they got complimentary at their hotel (Hilton Downtown Disney – Dad is organizing a convention that will be there later this summer so they got the red carpet rolled out for them). Sorry there is no photo of the delicious treats, but they were devoured before I could get my camera out. Apparently Mom and Dad had a hard time getting out of the elevator with them back at the Hilton!

So we head of to Typhoon Lagoon in dad’s vehicle (by the way it was no trouble for him to drive into the Caribbean Beach Resort – he just said he was picking up a guest and gave our name at the gate house). We were one of three cars in the parking lot and I think Dad was over whelmed by all the empty spaces so close and so nicely shaded by trees. He parked a few times before finally choosing the spot he would leave his car for the day.

100_0256.jpg

Mom and Dad got their tickets at the counter and not long after the park opened – all 12 of us there at park opening walked in. Honestly, no one was there at that time. If you get there early you can watch the last of the surf lessons that go on in the surf pool before park opening. Actually, it doesn’t much look like the END of a surf lesson – or at least not like a very successful one, but those spills are really fun to watch. Better them than me!

For mom’s birthday she really wanted to go to the water park. Last year she had gone to Blizzard Beach with DSis and me and three of our Norwegian cousins. She rented a cabana and loved it. So this year she wanted to try Typhoon Lagoon. Dad had “no interest” in going to a water park and even up to the day before was trying to get out of going – he and mom had won two free mini golf games by both getting a hole in one and he was trying to get us to cash in on them instead of going to Typhoon Lagoon.

DSis had reserved the cabana two months ago when Mom said that’s what she wanted to do on her birthday. The cabanas fit 6 people and they are strict on enforcing that limit. The cabana was $320 for the day and included six padded chairs, two foot rests, a locker, an ice chest filled with ice, refillable mugs, six bottles of water, a covered space, unlimited towels, and two cabana girls. The girls were really sweet – Nicole and Cayenne (sp?) were so pleasant and mom really enjoyed chatting with them. They checked in on us often and bring beer and lunch and snacks. The cabana isn’t everyone’s taste, but my mom really likes being pampered and it is her birthday! Dad burns easily and hates the beach but he LOVED the cabana. Mom had never seen him so relaxed as when he was there. At one time Cay and Nicole said they stopped to check on us and all four of us were sound asleep – the cabanas are that relaxing!

100_0261.jpg

We assigned cabana number 3. This cabana had a wooden floor and was set back a little from the foot path so you had to walk through deep sand to get to it (though it appeared a lot of the cabanas were accessible - ie concrete path to the cabana and concrete floor).

Ours overlooked the floating river and had a view of the surf pool, which is so fun just to watch.

100_0264.jpg

100_0268.jpg

After settling a little – taking off cover-ups and locking valuables in the locker, we head off to the shark tank for some snorkeling. Mom has never been able to snorkel. She has tried many times in many places, but all attempts have ended the same – mom hyperventilating, having swallowed half the ocean. We all thought that the controlled environment of the Typhoon Lagoon shark tank and the fact that there will be absolutely no waves would be a great place for her to get over her issues with snorkeling. Somehow we lost mom after we picked up our masks (they give you masks complimentary and you aren’t allowed to bring your own). When we next saw Mom, this is what we saw…

100_0271.jpg

She had told the guys at the mask distribution hut that she can’t snorkel and she came away with a life vest and anxiety. They have life guards in the water and above the water and as soon as you step into the water and put your face in you will seem teams of fish. I was amazed how well stocked it was. I felt the little kid in me want to scream out “Dory! Dory!” when I saw the blue tangs. Unfortunately, I didn’t get to see more than that because Mom started kicking around and when I heard one of the life guards say “are you joking around or are you really in trouble?” I picked my head up and spent the rest of the time helping mom get to shore. She just can’t snorkel. DSis got some nice photos though…

100_0272.jpg

100_0274.jpg

You can also walk down to the viewing area and look through these portholes into the snorkel tank - but thank goodness no one was watching us at that time!

100_0278.jpg

100_0279.jpg

100_0281.jpg

Next we headed to Crush’n’Gusher which is a water rollercoaster – actually three. Two allow for three or two people to ride at once and one only allows for two riders. The one that only allows for two riders has more curves.

100_0290.jpg

I was nervous because I’m actually not a big water slide fan. When I was a kid I had problems with my ear drums and tubes that required me to not get my ear canal wet so the fear of water slides stems from there. But the problem is long since corrected, with my ear drums that is. There was no line and as fast as you could carry your raft up the stairs you could get on. Lifeguards at the top let you on the ride once everyone is properly seated and ready. You really don’t get too wet and it’s just fun!

100_0290.jpg

A good warm up for the Aquaduck on the Fantasy, we’re thinking. Mom had no problems and had a comfy ride with her head resting on dad’s belly.

100_0292.jpg

We all liked it so much we went again. This time doing another, but not the one mom wanted us to do, which made her mad. Dad will do anything to stay out of the sun…

100_0293.jpg

This time DSis left her camera out for the ride:

100_0294.jpg

This is what It looks like when you are just about done with the gusher
100_0295.jpg

The four of us then were going to head to the family raft ride and asked a CM for directions, after a long and sandy description of how to get there he suggested we just take the floating river ‘round.

100_0304.jpg

So the four of us got on five rafts (mom likes to get a double for herself and a baby one for her head – this supports her back/neck and she wouldn’t be able to ride otherwise).

100_0314.jpg

100_0320.jpg

We did the family raft ride after waiting in our first line of the day. It was maybe 15 minutes and would soon sore to 40 and 50 minutes. The raft ride is smaller than at Blizzard Beach and is really for two adults and two toddlers. So we split into two groups.

100_0324.jpg

It was pretty lame in my opinion, but I had gotten water in my contacts so was pretty much done with water slides.

Dad however was not.

100_0326.jpg

He went on two more slides while I waited and took pictures, DSis went back to the Cabana and Mom went to the restroom. This was the one person who said water parks do not interest him!

100_0328.jpg

Then mom, dad and I decided to float back to our cabana on the river and Dad got mom situated again.

100_0333.jpg

100_0338.jpg

Back at the cabana the four of us lounged.

100_0351.jpg

100_0358.jpg

Our cabana area, Getaway Glen’s, also had the reserved seats if anyone is interested in what those are like – this is before people started using them (10:30 or 11am). It got busier at lunch time as people came back to their spots to eat. You will get a wristband –different colored for cabana versus reserved seats – to let you into this section.

100_0364.jpg

100_0366.jpg

100_0367.jpg

100_0368.jpg

100_0371.jpg

I also want to share another photo of a cabana and photos of the drink station and refillable mug. You can also purchase the mugs without getting a cabana.

100_0369.jpg

100_0370.jpg

The girls asked us for a time that they should take our order (it takes about 30 minutes to get your food, they say). Here’s a picture of the menu they can bring you. They were also able to bring chili cheese dog (which mom ordered) and nachos. They were also able to get DSis and my meal on the quick service credit while mom and dad paid cash.

100_0373.jpg

DSis and I had the pulled pork and I wasn’t thinking and go NO photos except DSis took this quick shot after almost finishing the sandwich.

100_0374.jpg

I can tell you the meat was flavorful and the sauce was sweat and it wasn’t messy. The bread was soft and fresh. The meal came with fries or apple slices. Mom loved her chili cheese dog and dad ate his so fast I didn’t even see what he had. We had ordered our ice cream dessert but asked to have that brought later. Having the ice chest was great since we got to keep our drinks nice and cold in there.

To digest, mom and I went for a spin or actually two spins around on the floating river. It is narrower and shorter than Blizzard Beach’s. It took 15 minutes to go around. DSis snapped a picture as we floated by the cabana.

100_0378.jpg

We then all got ice cream. Mickey ice cream sandwich for me and mom, and DSis and dad got the Mickey bar. DSis thinks the Quick Service meal at Typhoon Lagoon really comes with chocolate cake because that is what the reciept read. But it would seem that the cabana girls were able to substitute ice cream for cake, something which may not be available when ordering directly from the quick service places.

100_0380.jpg

100_0383.jpg

Mom and dad tipped the cabana girls, something apparently some people don’t do and so I’m just gonna mention it here that the price doesn’t include their tip and they do deserve and depend on the tip. My Norwegian, socialist cousins would say it is the employer’s responsibility to pay their employees and so no tip is needed, Disney should pay, but that would just mean the already huge price would go up and have you seen customer service in Norway (and Europe in general)? I’m an American we pay for service – and we know what service means. :)

At some point we all slept and we really enjoyed the cabana – it was so peaceful and cool there. You are in the shade and there are water misters nearby. It’s so relaxing to see the floating river and fun to hear the warning horn that a major wave is coming in the surf pool and then hear the screams of anticipation and watch the wave come crashing in.

100_0394.jpg

Did we go in the surf pool? Yes, at some point all four of us did – first us girls and then at some point Dad snuck out there. Us girls only did the bobbing waves and got out 10 minutes before the big waves even started. Dad apparently went out during the six foot waves and swam out deep – to get away from hitting or being hit by people. He then said he realized why no one was out there. No. He said it was fun. You just know you are going under the wave and go with it. Out in the deep water you don’t have to worry about scraping the concrete floor.

We left in the afternoon though Dad did not want to! And Dad dropped us off at Aruba to get showered and changed. We planned to meet at Norway in Epcot.

P6060012.jpg

For going into the parks for dinner I only had the bare necessities – a little bottle of sun screen and some tiny lip gloss attached to my lanyard along with my wallet and itinerary card! Such a dork!

P6060014.jpg

While waiting for the bus at Aruba we realized how much hotter it is NOT being at the water park. I really can’t stress enough how much fun the water park is at Disney – it is really a refreshing option in the summer!

P6060018.jpg

First stop for us was Club Cool.

P6060020.jpg

And then straight to World Showcase where DSis had planned to purchase a Duffy. The CM there was really helpful and helped DSis know which size bear for which outfit.

P6060021.jpg

We then hopped on the friendship boat to go over to Germany. I hadn’t planned this but saw the boat docked and just about to leave but a man in a wheelchair held them up because they had to lower a special ramp so we and a few other lucky folks who had good timing got to board from the front. And we were off in no time.

P6060025.jpg

While on the ride DSis dressed Duffy for our first stop… Germany!

P6060026.jpg

And this heavenly place…

P6060028.jpg

We thought we would have mom and dad help us pick our remaining Snack Credits, but then the more we thought about it the more we realized this would likely result in mom getting anxious, some yelling at dad, dad arguing back, some uncomfortable looks from strangers, an awkward interaction with a CM or two, and a horribly embarrassing scene. So instead, DSis and I each picked two treats from the counter to save to share with mom and dad. Much better plan.

P6060029.jpg

P6060030.jpg

P6060031.jpg

I picked the marshmellows covered in chocolate and caramel – I had wanted this ever since I regretted not getting chocolate covered marshmellows on a stick/straw in MK. And I picked the dark chocolate cookie with caramel – I thought it’s large size would make it easy to share. DSis went for quality over quantity by picking two candies – one was chocolate covered caramel and nugget and the other was caramel and marshmellow swirled. To be honest, Germany’s caramel shop is worth a Disney vacation alone. Can’t wait to go back!

The caramel shop does not have cutlery, but the CMs directed me to the quick service restaurant where I could grab some knives. There DSis spotted the pretzel. Good eyes, Sis!

So we took our finds and found a table outside Norway’s bakery and magically mom and dad appear. They were late and had taken their Hilton shuttle to the park, which put them pretty far away (DSis and I were stupid in not giving Dad our parking pass for being a resort guess – just didn’t think of it). Everyone enjoyed the treats but mom and dad had NOT brought waters – even though they took four large water bottles home with them from the cabana. So DSis and I had to share our precious waters with them too. Why can’t parents ever plan right? :)

We have been on the Norwegian ride many many times. And have been the reason it broke down and after having a back stage tour past the polar bears, we didn’t need to do the ride this year. We did go into the shop. Now some say the Dahl sweaters and Helly Henson apparel are expensive. And they are. But Dahl sweaters last more than a lifetime. We have some that have been passed down generations in our family. They are good sweaters. They are no cheaper in Norway and in fact four years ago one of the Norwegian cousins bought a Helly Henson rain coat saying it was half what she would pay in Norway. Kroner conversion and the strength of the dollar four years ago has to do with that in part, taxes in Norway another part. I spotted a lavender sweater in a style DSis owned in red that she bought it in Norway two years ago. But this sweater she got for $35 less because she could use her Disney Visa Card and her sister was smart enough to mention it to the CM ringing her up! DSis loves purple and loves the sliming designs in her red one, but thinks it looks to Christmassy to wear after Christmas. I had wanted to try the Laila eau de toilet and DSis didn’t mind, mom and dad left, so I had a nice chat with the CM, who seemed happy with my little bit of Norwegian, and got the perfume - $5 off for using the Visa card!

We then went to Germany – but not the Caramel shop – to look around.

And while standing by the trains – I was hopping a lizard would climb on a building for a cool Godzilla shot – Dad thought the sky looked ominous. He said really loudly “a thunderstorm is coming” and everyone looked around at the blue sky with big WHITE puffy clouds and looked at him like he was nuts. So then he goes and get out is iPhone which he barely knows how to use and we wait 20 minutes for him to find the weather on it. And it doesn’t say anything. Anyway, he thinks we need to find shelter. Now. DSis and I want to go into America because neither of us can remember going into it in all the trips we’ve taken to Epcot. Mom is certain she was just there, with the grandmothers (one has been dead for five years so just there, really, mom?) And afterwards agrees she had never seen the show there, that it was Halls of the Presidents in MK she was thinking of.

The show is really patriotic and everyone in the audience clapped at the end. I had wanted to clap at the end of Philharmagic in MK so I was glad to finally get my chance to clap.

We went all the way around – stopping in Japan – again Mom didn’t want to go. She said the stores would be dumb. But again she had to admit it was a nice store and she was glad I insisted we stop in. I don’t know when the switch happened but definitely we were dragging our ornery parents around, making them pose for photos they didn’t want, and taking them to places they thought would be boring. But then again we were celebrating mom’s birthday and dad’s graduation.

We stopped to listen to the Canadian musicians for a moment and then went on to Mexico.

DSis checked in at the podium.

DSis answered questions about the meal plan – no we weren’t using it. And celebrations – yes, it was mom’s birthday (and dad couldn’t be left out and hollered about his graduation). And we would like to wait for a table with a view of the fireworks. Dinner reservations were at 8:30 and we were there about 7:45.

We sat outside with our pager and read through the menu.

We went inside to use the bathrooms and then came out and reread the menu.

We had decided we would get margaritas and an ap to start, then a bottle of wine and the two specialty meals Parrillada (which each serve two). Wouldn’t this have been a fun dining review to read?

here's another photo of the menu!

We knew we were early and we were happy to wait.

At 8:25 our buzzer went off and we were taken inside. We were given a table that was in this small, dark side room, just as you enter. There are no windows to the outside. We had a view of the waiter’s service station and dirty tables. In the main dining room – which was all we could see into – were tables with kids and people clearly done eating all around. Everyone was sitting at their tables with their food and utensils cleared away, sipping on sodas waiting for the fireworks.

The hostess wished DSis and I a happy birthday and happy graduation and we corrected her that it was our parents – the one with the birthday pin on – that were celebrating. And sat there. After 10 minutes I took out my license in hopes the waiter would see it and take it as a hint that we wanted to order and we wanted to order booze – so move your booty and you’ll get a tippy. Anyway that didn’t work. 5 or more minutes later, no water, no nothing, mom says really loudly “we’ll order if someone comes here”. Well the waiter was at the station behind me and the view my birthday mom had and he yelled over that he had to bus some tables and he would be back. Yes at this table service restaurant you waiter is also the bus boy. He touches dirty dishes and then your food! Yum! After five more minutes – still no water, no waiter. DSis says lets just leave. My parents look shocked but I’ve already packed up my ID and am ready. A good idea is a good idea.

So we get up and leave and not one, not one of the five CMs they have working at the inside and outside podiums stops us or says a word to us.
Now I understand they have sweaty tourists coming up to them all evening long for tables and I understand that they will fill that table and the empty dirty tables around us, but will the waiter get as big a tip from a family with kids drinking soda and/or eating on the meal plan? I don’t think so. Even if they pool tips, you’d think they’d care just a little. Those meals at La Hacienda start at $26. When you pay for a dinner like that you are paying for two things – the location and the service. If you aren’t getting that, then the food has to be mind blowing. We’ll never know because I won’t ever go back.

That said, I actually think their counter service options looked pretty tasty and might have been a good QS credit option – if you could find seating – it was packed at 7:45 when we walked by. People were eating their nachos and tacos on the ground all around.

So we left Epcot, by taxi, my brilliant idea - $13 for the four of us and got us there 45 minutes faster than the Hilton shuttle would! We had dinner at the nice Italian restaurant in the hotel with very nice waitress and excellent food. I had the lasagna. Not what I was expecting for tonight, but it all happens the way it is meant to.

I really don’t mean to be harsh on La Hacienda but they deserve the criticism. Perhaps I can spare you the disappointment and frustration. For me, if I want a view of the fireworks and a meal at Epcot, I’ll go to UK – they have always treated my DSis and me with respect there.

Your day at typhoon lagoon sounds like a lot of fun! I didn't even know you could get a cabana there. Our kids are just too small right now to truly enjoy a water park. Sorry your dinner at la hacienda didn't go well or lack of dinner. That is a shame, but now I know why I never want to try it. We always hear not so good things about it. Can't wait to hear more!
