We arrived at Yak & Yeti at 12:20pm, which was exactly the time of our reservation. It took about 12-15 minutes to be seated, but we were just glad to be out of the heat and in the air-conditioning. The restaurant was beautifully decorated! I really enjoyed the atmosphere.
Our server was Megan and I thought she did a good job. Since the dining room is rather small, they were obviously trying to turn tables quickly. She was a little rushy, but we didn't want to spend all afternoon at lunch anyway.
DW & I decided to cool off with a cocktail. DW had the Yak Attack (left) and I had the Emperor Margarita (right.) Both drinks were outstanding! If it had been dinner, I probably would have ordered another one!
For appetizers, DS had the pork egg rolls. Although we eat at chinese restaurants regularly back home, this was the first time he had ever ordered egg rolls. He devoured them! I could have made a meal off of just the egg rolls!
DD had the potstickers. She didn't much like them, but DW loved them. I think she ate most of them for her!
I had the seared ahi tuna...which I LOVED!!! This is one of my absolute favorite dishes anyway, and it was served to perfection.
DW had the lettuce cups, which I would have ordered if not for the ahi tuna. The chicken meat that was used was ground, and she didn't particularly like the texture of the meat. She ended up eating most of DD's potstickers and I ended up eating most of the lettuce wraps. They were great - but about what you would expect from Chili's or something comparable. I definitely think I won the battle of the appetizers on this day.
For our entrees, DW & I ordered the Shaoxing Steak & Shrimp. This was absolutely delicious. The shrimp tasted fresh and crisp, the rice was cooked just right, and the steak was very tender.
DS had the Shrimp Lo Mein...another first for him. Again, he loved it! Only this time, he could not eat it all! Lo mein is filling...especially after he had eaten three big egg rolls by himself!
Here is DD's kids meal. She was starting to feel bad again, so I don't think she enjoyed it too much. It wasn't the food, it was just that she was tired and hot after being sick the day before.
For dessert, DS had the Chocolate Brownie Sundae. Look at this monstrosity!
DW & I had the Fried Wontons. OH MY GOD!! These were SO good. Not being a big dessert person, I absolutely ate every single bite of this dish even though I was stuffed. Have you ever gotten home and craved something you had eaten while on vacation? For me, this was it. If I EVER go back to Animal Kingdom, Dining Plan or not, I will eat at Yak & Yeti and order this dessert.
DW wasn't nearly as passionate about the fried wontons as was I, but she thought they were okay.
Overall, DS & I loved, loved, loved Yak & Yeti, but DW did not share our high ranking. I would give my experience a 9.5 out of 10. I think DW would go with about an 8 out of 10.
