Team 'Ohana 2009: No One Left Behind

Good Morning Team Ohana!

Good news on the TM front. The parts came Thursday, and the repair is scheduled for Monday. The downside is I have to stay home from work, and haven't yet decided whether I'm feeling ill or I'm going to tell my boss I have to stay home for a household repair. I have 17 sick days, so I'm really tempted to go that way. Plus, she wants me to go to a meeting Tuesday night that I really, really don't feel safe going to (it's on Blue Hill Ave, Julie). It doesn't get over until 8pm, there's no public transportation I can get to without passing through gangland central, and I'll never get a cab to come down there...DH offered to drive me, but we couldn't get a sitter, so that means I have to subject DS to that, and I'd never forgive myself if something happened to him. Bullets don't have names on them. I'm probably a little paranoid, but this is a part of the City of I would never, never venture into voluntarily. If I'm sick Mon., it's easier to tough it out through a meeting I have to do Tues., and then go home ill...I know, I feel terribly dishonest...I am the worst liar known to man, but I can fake my way through a telephone message ok. In person, it's pretty pathetic. ::yes::

A start on the trip -- I don't do TRs. Dennis won't let me take pictures of food, so they aren't very exciting. I'm also intimidated, which, yes, I realize is ironic. Anyway, we got off to a great start -- I even got up before 5 and ran on the TM for an hour before we left. The cab ride to the airport (about 5 minutes away) was uneventful, except for the driver telling us about someone trying to sell him something the night before. After we got to the airport, Dennis explained to me it was drugs. I'm pretty naive, I had no idea that was what he was talking about . The airport was completely full. I mean there was nowhere to sit anywhere near our gate (JetBlue), and we were about an hour early. The flight was uneventful, I was very happy that I fit into the seat better than our last flight in January, so I was feeling good. We got our baggage fairly quickly, and took the shuttle to get our rental car. We had requested a different car than what we received, but it had plenty of trunk space and was $125 less, so I didn't complain. We stopped for a quick bite at Cracker Barrel before heading out. I haven't been to a Cracker Barrel in years, they don't have them in MA. It wasn't as good as I remembered. I think I've gotten so used to healthy food, it just didn't taste as yummy. I had a chicken salad, so it wasn't even that bad for me. I was disappointed the menu didn't jump out at me like I remembered. I just didn't want that heavy, fatty food. :yay:

We drove over to my SIL's house in Wesley Chapel (near Tampa), where we stayed for 3 days. We spent a ton of time around her pool, it is very restful and incredibly comfortable. They even have a tv screen mounted above one of their seating areas. It was great to spend alot of time with my 3 nieces. My oldest niece is 19 and out of the house, but she came by every day to see us. The next girl is almost 18, and will be a senior in high school next year, and from what I can tell she basically doesn't leave the couch. Her "job" is to watch her 10 yr. old sister during the day, I think it's good Bethany is pretty self-sufficient :rolleyes1. My little niece is a cheerleader and fashion plate. DS had a great time hanging with her (he's 11), and when we took them to Busch Gardens people thought they were siblings. He has dark brown hair and eyes like me, and she's blond with blue eyes, but their features are similar enough for that resemblance. It also helps that Dennis has red hair and blue eyes. Anyway, we went on the Rhino Rally and Bethany was chosen to sit up front with the driver, and he kept teasing her about her brother behind her. She got a big kick out of it since she doesn't actually have a brother. Ben also thought it was a hoot. You can see where people thought they were siblings -- when were calling "Benjamin" and "Bethany" in the same breath!

The last night at my SIL's we had a little excitement around the pool area. It is a screened living area, and a large black snake was hanging out by one of the doors to the yard. Right then, I remembered why I don't want to live in FL. I couldn't handle "Reptiles 'R Us". They've also had alligators by the lake in back of their house, they hear wild boar in the woods next to their house, and the bugs are huge. They also live on a golf course, and that would unnerve me, too. We got up on Father's Day and drove over to Orlando. I'll pick up there in my next installment, but let me say on the drive over we stopped at a rest stop, and there was a sign warning that poisonous snakes had been seen in the area.:scared1:

:bday::cake::dance3: Happy Birthday to Mel!

JenB -- It sounds like you are ready to get the crosstraining moving again! :thumbsup2

Jeanne -- Keep that training up, you are doing great! This week I lost .6, so I'm looking to do much better next week since I'll have the TM for 5 days! :woohoo:

Debra -- I promise our June #s are coming. Dennis has to work today -- the Tall Ships are in Boston and he has to direct people around the Charlestown Navy Yard -- but I will pin him down and get him to add his #s tomorrow. pirate: It sounds like you have had a rough week, as well. Keep posting, and we will get through it together!

Jen -- You're not running, but you are working. It's not easy making an entire human being! :worship:

Jackie -- Our temps have been good for running (60s & 70s), but we had constant rain for all of June and the start of July. It's just been miserable.

I have to get moving, so shoutouts to everyone I missed, and have an awesome day!

Maria :upsidedow

Debra~As for me: Not much to speak of. I've been sick this week and skipped three--yes, three--days of workouts. Haven't run since Saturday's 5 miles. Not sure if I'll be able to run tomorrow, and I'm supposed to be in training for the Baltimore 1/2. Makes me a bit anxious, but the illness has settled into my lungs...

And mentally I'm just not in training mode recently, either. Nothing major, just in a bit of a funk--too many other things demanding my time, and not things I'm enjoying for the most part. I'm sure getting sick is coloring my perceptions of everything, though

Sorry to hear you're not feeling well. Hope you're feeling better soon; pixiedust:

Hi Cousins,

Jackie - Your cool spell was 82 degrees? I would LOVE that! :lovestruc We've barely hit 80 all summer - and most of our days have been rainy. My kids are bouncing off the walls since we've been cooped up in the house so much this summer. Congrats on your training. It sounds like things are going very well for you.

Richard - I love the idea of an 'Ohana ice cream meet after the medals! By the way, as much as I've complained about having such a cold summer, I can't imagine running in 98 degree heat! I think you're my new idol. :worship:

Jen - Getting bigger is a good thing in your case. It sounds like some shopping for maternity clothes is in your future. :cool1:

Debra - I'm sorry to hear that you've been sick. I hope you're feeling better and back to training soon. When is the Baltimore 1/2? I'm still in a slump, partly because I've been waking up with headaches every day. I'm not sure what's causing them, so I've been trying to get more sleep and drink more water. It seems to be helping a bit. As for my training plan - I haven't made one yet, but you'll be the first to know when I do. :upsidedow

Jeanne - It's great that you found a race buddy online! How nice to be able to chat with someone who has done NYC before and can answer any questions you may have. :thumbsup2

Jen B - A Webkinz party sounds like a lot of fun. Let us know how it goes. I'll admit, I sometimes go onto the Webkinz website when the kids are in bed and play the arcade games. :ssst:

Maria - You're looking a little pale. I don't think you should go into work on Monday. You might be coming down with something, something that will definitely last through Tuesday night... :rolleyes1 You can't go to that meeting! Blue Hill Ave isn't somewhere I'd want to be in the middle of the day, never mind at night. On a happier note, your trip sounds like it was a lot of fun. I'm looking forward to hearing more about it.

As for me, I ran once last week, which was a big improvement over two weeks of no running. I'm having knee/ITB issues again, so I have to go back to doing my exercises. I hope to start that tomorrow and get back to running on Monday.

Have a great week everyone!

Thanks very much for the birthday wishes!

Did my B2B for goofy this weekend. Went pretty well. MRI was Friday. I have the DVD with the pictures, but I don't read MRIs. Only thing I can tell you is there's no big freaky fracture or hairy tumors. :confused3

:confused3

Our cat is not improving, so I'm giving him IV fluids at home to keep him comfortable. He did eat today, but he's walking like a robot and not holding his head up. I think we were a little blindsided...we have a 15 yo dog so would've been more prepared if it had been her. The cat's only 12...hard to think of him as old.

JenL...remind me...when will you be at WDW? Maybe we can pop over and see you guys!

Jeanne...congrats!! That is so exciting!! I definitely want to see pictures of the Greek wedding.

Gotta run...taking DD6 to the water park!

Mel - I am so sorry about your cat! We have been dealing with issues with my Golden Sadie since January. She turns 10 at the end of the year. Anyhooo... we are flying to Orlando on August 14 and spending the 14th evening and 15th at POP and no parks. Then on the 16th through 22nd we will be at the French Quarter for free dining (we had a cheap come back rate which was cheaper than they were advertising!!). I think we may check out the campground campfire on one of the no parks days! Let me know if you plan to pop over to the World! We are excited and hope for no hurricanes. Last year Faye stayed over top the entire trip and it was miserable. No sun all rain for an entire week!

Hi Team!!

I really don't have anything serious to report, just wanted to say HI! to everyone. I'm really looking forward to meeting many of you at WDW in January at some various meets and of course at the races...and for those of you who aren't going, well, that was me earlier this year, so I know the feeling.

I hope everyone is well out there and having fun training, hopefully in better weather than I am!

Ok, this may yet have a happy ending -- I just finished 4 mi on the TM -- yes, the repair person finally came this afternoon. But when I went to put the incline down, nada. Called the service center, and their "repair" made it worse. They messaged the guy to come back to my house. I hope he actually comes. I can't perpetually keep taking off work to get this fixed, even if it was convenient to be "sick" today...

Hope everyone is hanging in there with various issues. My kitty is 16, so I get it...

Maria :upsidedow

Aarrrrggh! Now they can't come until Saturday. I am not a happy camper. :sad2: This TM is starting to be more trouble than it's worth. That warranty is a good idea in concept. The reality...well, at least I'm not paying out of pocket for these unsuccessful attempts :rolleyes1

Ok, I am just going to have to do something else. I had a great suggestion for a dvd. I don't have time to buy it tomorrow, but I do have 3 BL dvds. Bob and I are going to get busy tomorrow! :cool1:

Maria :upsidedow

Maria - So sorry about the TM. :sad2: Wish I could teleport mine to you for a few days. It's just gathering dust since the weather here is nice right now!

Richard - Has it cooled off at all? And count me in for the ice cream meet. If I survive this Goofy thing I want a reward!

Jen - I'll keep my fingers crossed that you have a hurricane-free trip. We've only been once during hurricane season and were really lucky (but it was the week after 9/11, so that was a whole other issue in itself!). We had a streak through here for a while and were afraid they'd follow us wherever we went. My brother got married in Vermont and Floyd followed us all the way up the coast!

Mel - How's the kitty? It's so much more difficult when you're blindsided. Mystic was fine one day, and the next thing I knew we were having that conversation with the vet. Jeanne can attest to just what a wreck I was! Any news on the MRI yet?

Debra - Hope you're feeling better! Anything that settles in the lungs is not good, especially when you're trying to train. And  for whatever else is going on in your life right now.

Julie - I'll probably regret it later on this summer when we reach severe drought conditions, but it's been really nice so far not having to worry about rain. I'd be crazy if it had been rainy all summer! Today's forecast was for rain all day, and I think we maybe got an hour's worth, and it was dry and low 70's when I got off work.

Which leads me to... even though I had a migraine coming on, and all I wanted to do was curl up on the couch and be a bum, it was so nice that I had the thought on the way home of going to one of the local parks where the greenway is a half mile loop. Pushed it aside in favor of being lazy, until I got home and DH texted me and said he wanted to go to the same park and do speedwork! (The irony here is that we very rarely run at this park, so for both of us to choose it on the same day just meant I had to run!) So I took my migraine meds, put on my running clothes, and out the door we went. 4 miles later... I feel MUCH better!

Jackie

Mel: I'm so sorry to hear about My heart hurts for you, and I found myself cuddling my cats a little more this weekend than usual. Please know that we're thinking of you, and knowing you'll make the most humane decision under the circumstances.

It seems odd to mention it in these circumstances, but I'm very impressed that you've already started your B2B running for the Goofy. That's training smart and your dedication will pay off.

Jeanne: I'm so glad you've found an online buddy for NYC who's also got the inside track on the marathon. How cool! The weight loss will come, as I know you're determined to put all your ducks in a row.

JenB: I don't know a lot about Webkinz, except that they're hot, hot, hot! I think you've chosen really well! The simulation of the online world fascinates me, in particular, so I think it will be a hit with parents and children. And, in case I don't say it, I really respect how you parents handle everything you do AND manage to train. It amazes me. :worship:

Maria: I'm so sorry to hear about your ongoing TM troubles. There's nothing like equipment failures to throw your training off. (They're doing construction at my gym, the TMs are still available, and I still feel thrown off.) I'm sorry that you've also been placed in a position where you have to use one of your sick days--I can tell you're not comfortable with white lies, and so I feel for you in multiple ways. At least you've got Bob--and I envy you the calorie-free eye candy. I eye Jillian and her shred plan with something between fear and hatred.

On the happy side, I love your not-a-TR TR. You write well and your stories are always engaging, so I'm feeling lucky that you're sharing your trip with us. Yay for the Cracker Barrel moment, where you realize you like healthy food. :yay: Double yay for the relaxing time spent at your SIL's hanging out at the pool and with family. Boo to the snakes, but I can't wait to hear what happens next. :listen:

Jack: Thanks for coming back with your well wishes. You're a sweetheart. :cloud9:

Julie: I get a lot of headaches in the summer, too, especially when I run. I can't seem to hydrate enough to take the edge off. Cutting down on caffeine helps a bit. Maybe it would help you, too? :confused3 I'm SO PROUD of you for getting back to running, btw. Now, promise us you'll do your exercises faithfully--and stretch, too. The marathon is practically right around the corner. (And Baltimore is in early October--the 10th, I think.)

Jen: I'm so sorry to hear that, from what it sounds, Sadie is still having problems. I know you're coping the best you can and that you miss your running buddy. In happier news, what a great trip you have planned--love the French Quarter. And free dining! :woohoo: I hope you and Mel can meet up. (And a team-captaining digression...June numbers? cough, cough)

Richard: Oh, you're such a sweetie. I love the idea of ice cream after earning the medals. And I've never had a Kitchen Sink. A travesty, I know. Can we have ice cream every day of the weekend? I can justify it as fueling. :rotfl2:

Jackie: Okay, you've just won the crazy medal in my book. Oh, I'll just take my migraine meds and go out and do speedwork. CRA-zy! Of course, you also did the marathon with a migraine, and you're doing the Goofy, so apparently crazy is a chronic condition of yours. :rotfl2: But you know what you're doing, if your four miles actually made you feel better. :thumbsup2

As for me: Still fighting the funk and the illness, but I do have good news to report. (I know you FB people know this, but bear with me. It's the best news of the day.) I managed to get my favorite, discontinued pair of running shoes on sale at Joe's New Balance Outlet. $54.00. And I bought two pairs to stock up and get free shipping. :woohoo: I try to shop there for my shoes because I always get good deals. For the record, DOOD likes FogDog.

And in other news, I broke down and told DOOD that I wanted a Garmin for my Goofy training. I've hinted about wanting one for over a year now, and he hasn't heard my non-too-subtle clues. Our anniversary is in early August, so I expect he'll get it for me then. If he doesn't, well, I guess I'll be shopping for one myself--and maybe shopping for a new DH. :rotfl2:

Sorry! Sorry I have been so MIA lately. It's been an exceedingly hectic few months, and truth be told, I think I only have so much tolerance for logging and tracking things. My focus has been more on the Weight Watchers tracking since January, though I still have my Garmin data to contribute anyhow.

I had a great first 10 mile run on July 4th - it was a race that has a companion 3 miler that I've done the past 2 years. Lots of fun, but I always had my eye on the 10 mile, and this was the year! The weather was perfect - clear, in the 50's and no appreciable wind. There were about 250 runners and I thought for sure I was going to get left in the dust first thing, and started, appropriately in the back. Many, many people left me in the dust, but at no point was I actually bringing up the rear! I was my usual slow but relentless self, though faster than I was expecting. The pace I most often saw on my Garmin was 10:27! I had been figuring on running 11's and hoping to come in something under 2 hours. I passed a few people after the turn-around (it seems like it is my practice to pace off of an old guy and then pass him in the second half) and then got overtaken by a Gallo-walker. A few times. She and I kept trading places. Except at the end, she finished a lot ahead of me cause her running really was fast. She said I was helping her out, though, with my slow and steady pace. Well, great.

I finished at 1:45:50....I think. Just under 1:46. So much faster than my "under 2 hours" goal!

Unfortunately, I spent the rest of the week hosting guests, making elaborate meals and also, well, overtraining. I got carried away and did not rest appropriately, and started wanting to sleep all the time and acting cranky. So I'm taking a couple of days now. :rolleyes1

Another race on Saturday -The Bear River Crawl. This one is a 5K, and I will TRY not to harm myself and just have a fun time.

In other news, I am registered for the Disneyland Half and just put my registration in for the Twin Cities 10 mile lottery. Not sure what the odds are of that one, but if I don't get in, I will likely just volunteer again.

Sounds like there's rough times afoot with a lot of the cousins.

Maria - I hope your treadmill recovers soon

Mel - So sorry to hear about your cat. It's a tough thing when they start to decline. We've lost a few to lingering illness over the past few years. We also did long-term subcutaneous fluid treatments for one whose kidneys were going.

Jen - your trip sounds like so much fun! Sorry about your dog's troubles, too.

And now I've got two boys who need to be shoehorned into bed. Good night, cousins!

Jackie - It has cooled off some. Today was a crisp 98 degrees :scared1:. Oh well, it has gotten humorous as to how unusually hot and dry this summer has been. However, as a water utility manager, I can say it has been good for business :rotfl: .

Debra - Aww, you can ice cream all you want :lovestruc. Seriously, why not an after half, and an after full ice cream party, not that we'll be the only ones trying to get into that place. I'd be happy to loan you my Garmin, but the battery has given out and I don't have a long enough extension cord to keep it plugged in while I run.

Corinna - I hope to do the same thing in my October 10 miler with a sub 2 hour goal!! Congrats!

Since there has been a positive reception to my first meet idea, how about an Ohana-We ain't afraid of nuthin', Summit Plummet Death Drop Meet!! We can do it after the marathon since we'll already be sore and the extra pain won't matter much.

I'm just beginning to put things together - are you Optimator's DW? I lurk on the BOT thread occasionally, but I know him mostly because he gave DD and me his Indy tickets last year. He was our #1 hero for a very long time!
Ouch!! It hurts to be so "was our #1 hero..." Unfortunately, I didn't reorder my season tickets this year or I would have tried to keep my status current.:guilty:

Mike - SORRY! You'll always be our hero! We actually skipped this year's race for the first time in 4 years. Too many races coming up...

Richard - Hope you have an unlimited water supply and aren't facing drought issues like we have the past couple of summers. That makes days of record heat even more unbearable, and downright scary. And I'll think about your Summit Plummet idea. I have several unused Plus days I need to use! :rotfl2:

Debra - In full disclosure, I did NOT do speed work last night. We walked the first mile, then Bill did his speed work. I continued walking, and inserted 2:00 run intervals twice in each half mile loop. I did a couple of 12:00-12:30 miles, then walked the last mile. I'm calling it hill work, since there were a couple of hills on the loop. And if you need us to send messages to DOOD, just let us know. I can start peppering him with links to websites!

Jackie

Hello Cousins!

Mel - I'm so sorry about your cat. I hope that you were still able to enjoy your birthday. :goodvibes

Jen - Sorry to hear about your dog troubles. I grew up with goldens - they're such wonderful dogs. I hope that she gets better soon. Oh, and have fun on your WDW trip. :thumbsup2

Maria - Sorry to hear about your TM. I hope it's fixed soon. At least the weather is decent for outdoor activity. Although getting busy with Bob sounds like fun to me! Were you able to get out of the meeting tonight?

Jackie - Hurricanes follow you around? :scared1: Remind me not to book any trips at the same time/place that you do, ok? :rotfl2: J/K! Your weather sounds so nice right now. And I have to say that I am so impressed that you ran with a migraine! :worship: I don't think I could do that.

Debra - Sorry to hear that you're still sick, but YAY! for the 2 new pairs of shoes. :cool1: How smart of you to stock up. I hope that DOOD takes the hint and gets you a Garmin so that you don't have to go shopping for a new DH. If he doesn't, maybe you can find an eligible bachelor/Garmin salesman and kill two birds with one stone, so to speak. :rotfl:

Corinna - Congrats on your 10 miles with a fantastic time! :cheer2:

Richard - I love the ice cream idea, but the Summit Plummet idea, well, not so much. :scared1: I'll be happy to hand out towels to all of my crazy cousins who choose to go on it though.

As for me, I've been doing my exercises and I've run both yesterday and today. So, I think I'm getting back into my groove. Nothing else to report. It's a quiet week here. DH will be travelling for work this week, so I won't be able to run on Thurs. I may finally dust off my Pilates for Dummies DVD and give that a try since I won't be able to run.

Have a great week, everyone!

Debra - I posted my pathetic miles and minutes. I am not counting the greatest lately. I do gardening and stuff and don't count that. I also don't count if I walk around the block with Sadie. BUT.... happy to report that I am doing enough that I am not gaining weight this pregnancy (YET)... so that makes me happy. I want to hold off until the end when I am bound to gain. So the little I am doing is helping me!

As for Sadie - Yes... she is still having tumor issues. The vet wants to cut her entire tail off... to the nub on her back. That breaks my heart as her tail is part of her beauty. But at 10 years old, what can we do. We haven't decided yet if we will do it as I am concerned that she won't let the wound heal. She lives in a cone pretty much now. Oh, it's just a mess.

Aloha, Team Ohana!

So, I did stay home with a second day of "stomach bug". I felt guilty, but at least I'm not scared out of my mind right now :rolleyes1

I blew off Bob and went to the beach! (Ok, as I read that it doesn't sound good, but you know what I meant, right?;))Dennis asked me if I wanted him to drop me there this morning, and it sounded like a great idea! I walked 5 miles, so I feel like a got a great time in. Well, my time wasn't great, but I got a good workout and I had the ocean air, so it was really nice.

Tomorrow I will be back at work and paying for my illness with a ton of tasks, but it's worth it. I'm sure I won't get to post until tomorrow night, unless I get really lucky! :shamrock:

Back to my non-TR TR :rotfl:

We arrived in the Orlando area, and this was it -- my furtive visit to WDW property! We literally drove past Pop and Caribbean Beach to get to DTD. I wanted to stop, but of course that wasn't happening. We hadn't told ds about this day (I was afraid it would come and Dennis would balk about going there). We parked and went in by the humongous Disney store, and decided to start shopping there. We picked up a shirt for ds and some gold filigree Mickey head earrings for me. DS also bought a POTC snowglobe. He collects snowglobes, but I was surprised as he's never been that into the movies. Anyway, we left and headed toward Once Upon a Toy. Then, I spotted it! My quarry was the new store, Tren-D. I had heard about it and seen photos in a blog, and I knew they had things with my name on them! This store is amazing for girly-girls, tons of totally cute baubles and bangles. I left with a Minnie mug and a cute pink plaid cosmetic bag with a black cut-out Mickey on it. ::MinnieMo While I was in Tren-D, Dennis and ds were doing their best to spend the first of ds's vacation money on Star Wars/Disney characters. :darth::yoda::chewy:Princess Leia Minnie and Luke Skywalker Mickey left the store with them. By this time, we were a bit hungry. I had planned on eating at Earl of Sandwich, but ds wasn't interested and wanted to sit down and eat chicken fingers... (he'd been deprived at his Auntie's, where they were not served). So we went to Rainforest Cafe. We had a fairly quick wait, and were seated right under the gorilla. Did you know that thing is really loud when it starts animating? Well, now we do. DS managed to stuff himself with chicken fingers and fries, dh and I shared the big sampler plate substituting extra cheese sticks for calamari, which neither of us do.

I wanted to have dessert at Ghirardelli's but we were all full -- so we decided to go to Goofy's candy company for something to enjoy later. We left with make your own pretzel rods (dipped in dark chocolate and covered in peanuts, then drizzled in caramel), another Stitch slushy cup, a couple of pieces of fudge (orange cream and milk chocolate) and chocolate covered espresso beans. Full and shopped out (Dennis said this was more Disney than he needed), we got back in the rental car and headed for the Portofino Bay Hotel at UniversalOrlando.

Next Up: Checking in, Checking out the Club, and Checking for Geckos

Jen -- I am so sorry for the issues you are going through with Sadie. It's hard to know what's best for our pets, especially since you can't exactly reason with them or understand their wishes.

Julie -- I should be at the meeting at this moment. Instead I'm on the DIS, and dh is cooking on the grill. I know I did the right thing, but I still feel a bit sordid

Jackie -- That sounds like hill work to me! :cool1:

Richard -- There will be no Summit Plummet for me. :sad2: I will be Julie's towel assistant.

Corinna -- You are a woman in motion! You just keep going and going and going :bounce::Pinkbounc:jumping3:

Debra -- Way to go on the shopping coup! :yay:And I know you've been married long enough to know you cannot hint if you actually want something. Subtlety is wasted on most husbands. Ask, like the brave, confident woman you are. How can he resist?! :genie:

Mel -- :grouphug: I know you are doing your best for a cherished member of your family.

 to Jeanne, Nancy, Robert, Linda, Denny, JenG, JenB and anyone else I missed!

Everyone have a great night!

Maria :upsidedow

We let TIgger go today. He hadn't been able to hold his head up since Saturday. Very sad...I'm just glad it's over.

Knee MRI was pretty boring. I haven't heard official interpretation, but the report says just an old ACL sprain and some mild inflammation. Sounds to me like I can keep running!

Corinna...great pace!

Richard...totally on board with the ice cream deal, but I'm afraid you can't get me in the water in January, no matter how warm it is outside.

Jen...we should talk more when your trip gets closer. sorry Sadie is still not well.

Maria...great TR! We checked out the TrenD store a couple weeks ago. Pretty cool and I'm not terribly girly.

Mel - So sorry for you and glad for you at the same time, I hope you understand.

Jackie - We are indeed in a drought. Probably the hottest, driest dummer since 1980. Fortunately my water system is well prepared.

Everyone - I wasn't terribly serious about the Summit Plummet meet, I am even afraid of heights (although I did make myself do Summit Plummet on a solo water park trip a few years back--a definite rush!). Plus after the races the only water I might want to be in is the hot tub.
However, I would gladly share ice cream with you all (Bring your own wallets as the cost of Disney race registration is eating my wallet up!). I am thinking something mid-afternoon, maybe 3 PM, or should it be earlier or later?
I do like the idea of all of you volunteering to be the towel crew, how are you at post-race massages. ;)
