Happy Memorial Day weekend, everyone!
And thanks,
Jack, stopping by to remind of us of the importance of the day....
A little pre-race support for the following cousins on their races:
5/24, Run to Remember 1/2 Marathon, Boston: Dennis and maybe Julie
5/25, Hearts and Minds 5k, St. Paul: Corinna (maybe)
Facebook Members: Kathy asked, and it's a good excuse for a roll call. Who's on FB and how might we find you, if you desire to be found? (Some of you probably have work friends, etc., so you might want to stay incognito!) I'm on...just look under D.K. Peterson. (I'll delete this in a few days because of some of that desire to be incognito myself.) I will friend all cousins, 'Ohana and others.
Okay, so
Night in the Museum goes in the Netflix queue....
Richard: A film that's better than
Cannonball Run??? Blasphemy.

(I actually showed a clip from CR in an American Humor class. So sue me.)
Jeanne: Oooooh,
The Mole. DOOD and I loved that show when Cooper hosted it. I guess I go for the grey-haired men, considering DOOD's luxurious locks and all. But you and Maria should just step back if Johnny comes across our paths.
WHAT??? The Greek still hasn't given DD a ring? What's with that? I'd want to be a fly on the wall for that one-year engagement anniversary date.

(Not that I'm one to judge...I considered my engagement to be its own destination.)
Your trip is coming up so fast! Where are you eating? Food porn, food porn, food porn! (It's PG-rated.

)
Julie: I didn't realize that there were Kim Possible missions at Epcot. Sounds like a lot of fun (I enjoy the show). I saw your post about your ITB issues and the race, and I'll answer here as well. I'd probably bow out at this point, unless you think you can do the distance walking. I wouldn't want to risk further or more severe injury--I'd say, "I's not the last race I'll have the opportunity to do."
Jen: Crossing my fingers for an easy, no morning-sickness pregnancy! And that your cravings are healthy, or at least not too disgustingly strange!
Mel (and Sunny): I love that the new graphic will be representative of all our athletes. Thanks, as always, for your hard work on this.

And for the ice-cream contest link. I'm definitely doing some brainstorming.
Corinna: Love the pictures! You're always so photogenic. You HAVE been busy, but it's so cool that you haven't let it interfere with your running and weight loss. I admire that and envy it, frankly.

How was ST on IMAX, visually. That's how I wanted to see it, but we live within walking distance of a regular theater, so...
Have you decided whether you're doing the DL 1/2 yet? It's so tempting. And your "Hearts and Minds" race is such a good cause. It sounds as if the whole series is well thought out and well supported.
Kathy: First, congratulations for getting back to exercising. I think it's harder the longer you go. My body forgets the benefits. Or my mind lulls it into thinking there are no benefits... I had no idea you and Mike were at POP last year. Apparently there were lots of folks I never saw? That's what happens when you travel with ILs.
Nancy: I can't imagine how difficult it is to work with patients with such prognoses.

I'm truly one of the lucky ones. And I think you're right--women working together can really make a difference in our health care (and other issues)! YAY for trying a new class and mixing it up! No wonder your recovery and weight loss have been so phenomenal!
As for me: Let's see...took a rest day on Thursday and XT today. Tomorrow is a LR. I snagged two passes to an advance screening of
Up, which will show on Wednesday. It's perfect timing, since DOOD and I are out of town next weekend to go to Stratford. This weekend's film is
Terminator Salvation. I gotta get me a little angry-sexy Christian Bale.
I've been reading Orson Scott Card's
Alvin Maker series and a non-fiction book,
The Ten-Cent Plague: The Great Comic-Book Scare and How It Changed America. The former isn't quite what I expect from alternative history, but still enjoyable. I just finished Walter Tevis's
Mockingbird, a speculative fiction classic. Next up is
Berlin, a graphic novel by Jason Lutes, to be followed by S.G. Browne's
Breathers, a zombie novel. (And that will be followed by
Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, currently on the NYT Best Sellers list.)
Oh, yeah. DOOD and I signed up to do Baltimore this fall. I'm doing the 1/2, he's doing the full. We should finish about the same time.
