Team Mickey - Biggest Loser "No Excuses" 2012 Challenge

QOTD 3/8: We are now about halfway through our spring challenge. I know from experience that this is a point where we start to lose people, so what is something that helps keep you on track?

What is your favorite Disney extra (Cirque du Soleil, a backstage tour, horseback riding at Ft. Wilderness, etc) that you have done or would like to do?

#1 I actually am off track right now. I need to get demotivated. It's been a weird couple of weeks! I think I will start by being more active on this board!:cool1:

#2My favorite two extras were the Segway tour at Epcot. SOOOO FUN. And diving in the living sea (I think) aquarium at Epcot. One of the most fun diving experiences I've had. Although the fish and turtles were cool, the best part was playing with the kids outside of the aquarium that were watching us! IT was so fun!

I'm totally off track but guilt is keeping me here. LOL I feel guilty because I don't want to quit on y'all. And I really want to lose something other than my mind before we go to Disney in December.
I need a boost. I'm contemplating weight watchers. And I think I need to purge the pantry again. We've brought to much snacky stuff into the house again.

Disney extra - Hmmmm........ we've only done it once but the Family Magic Tour was awesome, We still talk about it. That's really the only Disney Extra we've done besides the Christmas and Halloween parties.

What keeps me on track? I am still trying to figure that out as I have stopped and started back again so many times. I did attend a motivational seminar with Jeff Galloway last night. He says to keep it in your concious brain - so that you are always thinking about an aspect of your training. I have also found having a goal, and a reward helps as well. For instance, to finish my C25K program, I had the goal to run my first official 5K at Disney in January!

What is my favorite Disney extra? I haven't done a lot of the extra stuff...but I do like the backstage tours. I have taken a few and only had a bad experience on one - Behind the Seeds - and that could have been just the guide as I have read other reviews were people really liked it.

Having my blood test done again tomorrow. Last time they were worried about me as my cholesteral and blood sugar levels were high. I have been seriously working on this with the working out, eating better, more water, oatmeal for breakfast, taking buns off sandwiches, taking a cinnamon pill every day....Keep good thoughts that this one goes well!

*I also am seriously off track. I was sick for almost the last 2 weeks with a horrible cold and am just now starting to feel better. So no exercise has been happening and food choices has been pretty much anything that sounded remotely good. Still am a little congested in my chest, so I am planning on getting back into exercise next week. It's just too hard to breathe.

*We haven;t done too many extras but we all really enjoyed La Nouba. My girls are both looking forward to being old enough for the Behind the Scenes Tour, The Segway tour, and to eat at Victoria and Alberts...LOL! They are strange kids...LOL!

Afternoon ::MickeyMo

Well, its been a rough 36 hours here. Taylor (one of our cats) got out the other night. She didn't have a tag on and she isn't micro chipped. We've put signs up all over the neighborhood and have talked to several neighbors and construction workers (good portion of subdivision is under construction) We're hoping she'll show up. I don't want to have to break the news to my mom that one of her cats is gone. :(

Since all of this has happened its totally thrown me off. Then when I finally decided to workout the other day I couldn't find my tennis shoes. They seemed to have disappeared. We just got home from going and buying me a new pair. Alan is preparing dinner (meatloaf, mashed taters, and veggie). I'm hoping to get a short workout in later. I still need to call Disney and get my May trip paid off. I've just not had the energy or desire to do anything since Taylor disappeared. :(

Hello TEAM MICKEY! :smickey:

LISA - thanks for the info on the challenge dates. I am definitely in for the next one! I really like this.

Don't worry, we don't ever let anyone get left behind -- we've even been known to pick moving buddies! ;)

LTS, got a big kick out of your pictures! :cat: You know they have iPad programs to help bored kitties.

Well, of course, all of you help keep me on track! :flower3: And always having at least one race on my schedule helps keep me on track, too. But right now one of the best things that keeps me on track is that I know I will reach my goal this year. :yay:

We did Behind the Seeds once and really enjoyed it. We are hoping to do the Behind the Steam Trains tour at MK this summer. :cool2:

Posting more and checking in at least once a day is great way to help get you back on track! :thumbsup2

Nope, no guilt and no quitting. And you're in luck -- look the wagon is right here! ::yes::

And now you're doing Expedition Everest soon! :cheer2:

You're so lucky that you got to hear Jeff Galloway last night. :cool2: I did a running school with him last year in Missoula MT and am e-coaching with him now. I love to hear him talk just to listen to his accent. Of course, you live in GA so everyone talks like that all the time. :goodvibes

*I also am seriously off track. I was sick for almost the last 2 weeks with a horrible cold and am just now starting to feel better. Aww, so sorry you've been sick, Michelle. Hope that the worst if behind you and you are feeling more like yourself again very soon. :flower3: Give yourself time to recover.

Kristina, hope your kitty shows up soon! :flower3:

QOTD 3/8: We are now about halfway through our spring challenge. I know from experience that this is a point where we start to lose people, so what is something that helps keep you on track?

I just continue doing what I've been doing since January. I exercise, track everything, and drink my water. When I get bored I try to change things up to give me a better variety.

What is your favorite Disney extra (Cirque du Soleil, a backstage tour, horseback riding at Ft. Wilderness, etc) that you have done or would like to do?

We've done Cique du Soliel before and it was neat for a one time thing. In May I'm having a spa treatment done at SSR for the first time. We're also looking into playing mini golf in May as well. Although I would say one of my favorite things to do is to sit on the beach at BLT (or whatever resort we're at) and just relax.

Gonna try and catch up on some QOTDs:

I go through spurts of meal planning. For awhile I was planning out the weeks and then things just got too crazy. I have been trying to plan 2-3 days at a time. Tomorrow we will have fish. Tonight was finish the leftovers! Saturday we will make homemade potato chips and probably some buffalo chicken! That's my new favorite!

Well, we are doing the 5 night Disney podcast cruise in June and then spending 7 days at Disney. Never been on a vacation that long before so I guess I am getting the best of both worlds!

This challenge I am finding that halfway through I am becoming more involved. Probably because I want my body from 2 Christmases ago back for the cruise! We've had a rough year with my mom being sick with cancer and I have been down 3 times to help them. This vacation is much needed! They will be here right before we go. I thought they would stay here while we are gone. I have to figure that out.

We actually haven't done any special things at Disney yet. My parents have done two tours at Disney. Ashleigh and I are doing a YES program class for 3 hours one morning! Looking forward to that a lot! We have been for Food and Wine and at Christmas twice and Flower and Garden twice. We had hoped to do a segway tour on our last trip but couldn't squeeze it in. Maybe on our next big trip.

Brian is doing his time on the elliptical now and the kids are playing Wipeout the Game on the Wii. Probably watch Big Bang Theory and that new show Awake. We always watch Project Runway on Friday nights while having dinner. Ashleigh has dancing from 5-5:30 so we will watch it after that. Ashleigh and I have to run to Target after I pick her up at school tomorrow and pick up a few things that we are out of!

Gotta check on the laundry! Trying to have the class clean for the weekend so I can enjoy it! My next big task is cleaning the storage room out for my parents. I should probably start that on Monday. We also really need to clean out the garage!

TTFN :tigger:

QOTDs!

Staying on track - I think looking at all the hard work I've done to get this far helps me stay on track. I don't want that to have been time and effort wasted. The other thing is that I haven't kept the clothes I've shrunk out of...if I gain back, I'll have to buy new things. Not having that comfort zone in my closet is very motivating!

Disney extra - I saw La Nouba several years ago and loved it! This year we're taking DDs and DMIL for the first time, and I'm so excited to see it through the girls' eyes. DH and I also had dinner at Victoria & Albert's in December, in the semi-private room, and it was AMAZING. An experience of a lifetime, to be sure, and yet I'm hoping we can do it again some years down the road! :)

tigger813, we're on the same vacation schedule you are! We'll be on PCC 3.0, and then we're doing 7 nights at AKL. I have never taken a vacation for that long before; I can't wait!

Good thing tonight was leftovers night - I had a big lunch with DH at our favorite restaurant and just wasn't hungry. I would have been bummed to waste ingredients on my lack of appetite. :) Now I'm having an apple and a VitaTop so I don't wake up at 3am starving...

Can't wait to meet you! It's coming fast now! We are waiting for our passports and we have to get some new suitcases! I started buying the girls some clothes but waiting a bit to get mine. Hopefully I will be where I want to be by then. Today was a good day so I just have to keep that up!

Night all!

:wave2: Well, here is something I haven't said in a very long time:

I think I drank too much!!! :drinking1

Tried a new smoothie recipe because I really didn't want dinner. I adapted it to what I had in the house so it was:
1 cup lactaid milk
1 scoop vanilla protein powder
1 T peanut butter
1 frozen banana
big handful of chopped spinach
big handful of ice

Blend all together until smooth.

It had a very pretty green color but you don't taste the spinach at all. It just adds a great nutritional boost (and makes it pretty!). Mostly it just tasted like Pb and banana. It was supposed to be about one serving but I am overly full-- probably shouldn't have drank the whole thing but no one in the house would share it with me! Thinking of trying a Pumpkin Pie Smoothie tomorrow but it will depend on how much time I have.

Forgot to take chicken out for dinner so one kid had frozen lasagna, the other had a big salad and DH had pizza. Worked out okay, I wasn't very hungry today. Probably a big salad for lunch tomorrow, I haven't had one all week.

Sorry for the quick drive by post but I have to get to bed. Have a great Friday everyone!

Yes, I'm feeling a bit unmotivated, like some others. BUT just because I'm feeling that way, doesn't mean I'm acting that way. A bit depressing because I went to Goodwill last night and not all of the next size down clothes would button! :rotfl2: Bit of a bummer, but I'd already bought some at JCPenney that fit. I was hoping to be able to return them and save money with my thriftstore purchase, but it wasn't to be. Nice to be able to wiggle out of my old clothes, that's some motivation. :woohoo: And I've had DH tell me I'm feeling skinnier.

In some of the many other QOTDs: We've never done anything extra at WDW. Would like to do the Segway tour, but kids weren't old enough last time we went. I usually meal plan just a few days out, but there's always stuff in the freezer/pantry to be creative--for days and days and days on end! :lmao: I usually get 7ish hours of sleep. Sometimes a bit more. I can go months on 6.5 if I have to. Fairy Godmother, I would take the cruise over WDW or DL because we've never done that. Chicken recipe: hmm we have a one pan one where you brown the chix then put lots of spices (but mostly curry), rice and broth in and cook it. Very yummy. That's all the questions I remember, although I know I've missed a ton. I've been lurking every other day or so. Just busy, busy.

Today I was too busy. It just drove me bonkers! Went to the Y for my 5:45 class. Got home at 6:50 to learn I had to sub starting at 7:30! We usually leave the house at 7, but I shoveled in cereal as I changed and we left a few minutes later. Got everybody where they were supposed to be and myself to work. After a full day in the special ed room I ran to Costco, picked up DH from work, and shoved the Costco chicken alfredo in the oven. Then I had DH move the hose from the garage to out front so I could give the dog a bath. The water was SOOO cold. Got him scrubbed, toweled off and the hose back in the garage. Then I collapsed. I told DH that I'm just getting too old for this much activity! Thank goodness nothing was happening tonight.

Tomorrow is no school (grading day), so I KNOW I have the day off. :woohoo: Poor DS2 has to go in to make up a biology lab, then from 10-12 he has a choir rehearsal, then from 12-2 baseball practice. That's better than today's original schedule, which put him leaving the house at 7 AM and not getting home until 8:30 PM. Unfortunately his band teacher is sick so their evening rehearsal was cancelled. Kinda silly for DS2 to go to the rehearsal since he won't be in town for the concert. But, ya do what the teacher tells ya. Not sure what he'll have to do to make up missing that concert.

Past my bedtime here. Hope everybody has a good weigh in!

Smoothies! YUM! Your recipe sounds good! I get on the kick of making smoothies from time to time. I have never put peanut butter in mine, but I definitely will next time. Peanut butter and banana --- I'll call it the ELVIS! I bought a 3 lb bag of frozen mixed fruit at Target to have on hand for making smoothies. Perfect for wintertime. It has blueberries, strawberries, and raspberries, I think. They also have a variety that is just strawberries and bananas. Then I add a fresh banana (does frozen work better?), some protein powder, ice, and almond milk. Peanut butter is a must for next time! And I love the idea of adding greens to kick it up nutritionally! Does anyone else have any favorite smoothie recipes?

Busy, busy! But an object in motion stays in motion! That is a good thing! Congrats on getting into a smaller size (in any brand). That is exciting. Good for you.

Yesterday I had two great workouts which was just what I needed to get me going. First thing in the morning I went on an almost 5 mile run/walk with a friend. It was great to get outdoors. It was only 16-19 degrees while I was out but it didn't feel cold at all because the sun was shining so beautifully. Once I start running (jogging) I heat up very quickly anyway. We walked quite a bit but on the running segments we did, our pace was in the 12 minute/mile range. That is good (for me)! I'm hoping to keep the scale moving in the right direction so running gets easier for me.

After that I had an appointment at the gym with my trainer. She has seriously upped the intensity of my workouts! I like that she does that, but yesterday seriously felt like my first day in the gym. Everything felt hard, and I guess I had gotten used to the previous level we were on. I feel so good after I exercise. That's why I do it first thing in the morning. The rest of the day just feels SUPERCHARGED!

Have a fabulous OP day everyone!

Good morning, losers! :)

I got up early this morning to get my workout (and shower) done by 8 because of an HVAC inspection window. They'll be here any minute... I finished Jillian's Ripped in 30 today, after stretching it out to two weeks per workout level instead of one. I think next week I'm going to start the Tracy Anderson Metamorphosis series, even though it pretty much scares me.

So here's my question - anyone have any recommendations for DVD-based strength (and maybe some cardio thrown in) workouts they like? I'd like to add a few to the library so I can have some options and rotate through my favorites to change up what I'm doing.

My straight-up cardio is in pretty good shape with the bike we have - and my goal to try running this spring! But strength has proved to be a really critical piece of the puzzle for me; I honestly think it's a big part of why I've been successful with weight loss this year. So I want to make sure it doesn't fade into the background and would love your suggestions.

Happy Friday!

XO

Good morning Team Mickey!!!

I'll be your coach this week. Those of you who are not familiar with me, please allow me to introduce myself. I'm Buffy, I'm a 38 year old never at home mom of 4, married for 19 years(this April) to my wonderful DH.
I am a team mom for all my kids sports so that keeps me on my toes and on the go most days.
I've been in 4+ WISH challenges here on the DIS. And I co-moderate the Craft forum along with PrincessNancy96 and rlovew.
I'm a Disney nut, I'm a procrastinator and I am deathly unorganized!!!! But everyone loves me anyway! LOL

Anyway onto today's question of the day.

In light of being late this morning my question will be about daily derailment. So say you are behind schedule for the day. It's easy to look at your schedule and say, "well, I can get a little ahead if I take something out." Typically a lot of people would forgo a workout if it saves them 30 - 60 minutes and gets the rest of the day back on track. It seems like the easiest solution to the problem, but it becomes a slippery slope, if you don't work out today, it's easier to not work out tomorrow. So how do you get back on track schedule wise but still put you first in terms of your workout and weight loss goals?

I don't really have an answer, so I'm looking for guidance!

Bonus question!
What new experience in the park expansions are you looking forward to the most at WDW or DL?

I am most looking forward to Carsland at Disneyland and Be Our Guest restaurant at Disneyworld.

#1 - it is really easy to let the workout be the first thing to go. So unfortunately, that is what I usually end up doing. I do try to sneak in a walk later on if I can but it is certainly not the same....

#2 - It's not the parks, but it's still new.... I am SOOOO looking forward to our Fantasy cruise this summer!:cool1:

And now you're doing Expedition Everest soon! :cheer2:

You're so lucky that you got to hear Jeff Galloway last night. :cool2: I did a running school with him last year in Missoula MT and am e-coaching with him now. I love to hear him talk just to listen to his accent. Of course, you live in GA so everyone talks like that all the time. :goodvibes

Yes! I am so looking forward to this challenge, even if I am doing it solo....

Jeff Galloway was great, there was only a handful of us at first - there was a pre-seminar run. And he asked if we had any specific questions. I told him I thought Disney should have more stuff for the 5K during Marathon weekend - no shirts or anything...but then my mom brought up my bra issue....he pretty much referred to his wife on that one - LOL!!

And well, I don't think he has a STRONG accent, but yes I hear southern accents often. But I work for a global company, and am surrounded by northern accents, french accents, indian accents and even some chinese....

That actually sounded good until you said spinach! I may have to try it though, need a new blender first.
