Morning
All around...sounds like they are needed in many ways.
I hope everyone stays WARM and has a good day.

I hope everyone stays WARM and has a good day.
I'm going to work for 3 whole hours. But notice I changed my TFW title.![]()
I'm camped out in bed with the laptop.I've been trying to work but finding it really hard to focus on anything substantive for the time required to accomplish something with it. Lack of caffeine headache may explain part of that, but I don't think coffee's a good idea on my stomach at the moment.
I should probably pop some Tylenol.
Sorry for such a downer update.Hope everyone's having a better day!

Morning all! I'm hoping for a MUCH better day today with Leo... but it's off to a rocky start for me. They just announced budget cuts for next fiscal year and it's BAD. Like minimum 20% across the board bad. I should be fairly safe as the most tenured employee in my dept.... assuming my dept. isn't eliminated. Then, all bets would be off.![]()
Morning everyone!
Here's a round of![]()

The girls are downstairs in the family room fixated on the TV.They were hungry for breakfast this morning, so that's a good sign. I'll probably go check on them in a bit to see if they want anything for lunch.
I've already e-mail'd, phoned, and text'd various folks to rearrange or cancel my day's activities. So, I'm pretty much just hanging here trying to get enough rest for my body to fight off this bug and fielding requests from the girls.
This is one of those times when I really wish I could nap during the day. It's very rare when I can actually do so, and it's not really feeling like one those times. I was up several times during the night for either me or DD11.DD9 slept all the way through.
Sorry for such a downer update.Hope everyone's having a better day!

Kate - Can you tell me the name of the newspaper. I'd like to see the whole article!
I think I could teach shopping and saleology.Hey TE, I might be opening a school. Would you like to teach goatology?
If you don't have one - get an electric blanket.I am laying in bed with a blanket and freezing cold as I type. Yucky!
Have you looked at any all-inclusives like Beaches?Trying to get out of my WDW rut, I spent some time today exploring and pricing alternatives in the Bahamas and Sanibel Island, FL.
My favorite furbaby, Max, had an emergency surgery today for a herniated disk in his neck.
S'late - so sorry, but I would love to move south and I could teach, um, I would say accounting, but you have that covered. Um, oh I know a class about pugs.
is that house across the street still for sale, all the Fockers could move in thereWould the neighbors mind a lime green house?
I am the one now saying we need to do more than Disney. We already have our June trip planned and will renew APs, but I am telling him that next year I don't want to renew the AP and do something else. I'm thinking a cruise or Atlantis. We'll see.OH - ETA...thanks V for doing that "comparison shopping" today...I'll use that as basis for my argument the next time Tony complains that we never go anywhere other than WDW!!
It's hard to get back into the swing of things.********************************************
D & I watched some TV, catching up, and went to bed at a reasonable hour. Still, no one wanted to wake up this morning.![]()

I just read an interesting article that my dad sent down from his paper in NY and it made me think of you all and school issues...
"Outlawing Boyhood" ~ It's all about how we've worked so hard over the last few decades to close the gap between boys and girls in science and math and have left the boys in the dust not only because of our work to empower girls, but the work to demoralize boys, especially at the elementary level. Boys are diagnosed with attention disorders at four times the rate of girls...according to this author mostly because we expect boys to "act like girls" and sit still and focus.
I'm NOT looking to stir the pot by any means...it was just an interesting perspective.
I find that very fascinating. Thanks for sharing, Kate.I'm going to have to ask my dad...chances are it was the NY Post. But the article sites a book called The Trouble with Boys, by Peg Tyre. She investigated what she called "an education system in which women principals oversee women teachers who treat girl behavior as a standard"...and boys, who squirm, fidget, and pretend to shoot each other, are labeled as threatening, anti-social or special needs. Basically, public education, according to this woman, is doing a major disservice to young boys.
I read something very similar by Michael Gurian and I completely agree. Boys are wired to be movers - they retain information better when moving around.I'm going to have to ask my dad...chances are it was the NY Post. I have, but they're just not a good bargain for us. We won't use all the activities and we don't eat much so it winds up being less expensive to buy things per diem.Have you looked at any all-inclusives like Beaches?
