Kat- I can't imagine how hard it is for anyone who's lost a family member.

My family was never really close so I really went to see my mom , so its just kinda weird going without her.

Hi ladies.

Just wanted to update you really quickly on Jon.

No surgery until we run some more tests. But, he thinks we can wait for a while. He's going to do an MRI and such. The reason he thinks we can wait on surgery is because he doesn't think ALL of Jon's pain is due to his orthopedic issues. He thinks Jon may have rheumatoid arthritis...for several reasons. Or some other rheumatological condition. So, we'll be off to see a ped. rheumatologist.

I'm tired. And I'm taking an emotional check-out for a few days.

As soon as I gather my thoughts, I'll tell you more.

We're going to the movies tonight. Nice break, I say! ::yes::

Tata for now.

 to all.

i don't think it's set in bc my farewell party is friday 2nd. i think there will be tears at that party!:sad1:

i'm glad my friends here can move with me whereever i go!!! love you guys!

 That's very sweet of you!

I'm sitting with Tink while she Neb's. Her Asthma is kicked into full gear since her daddy took her skiing all day on Sat. in temps that dipped below 0. DUMB, DUMB Daddy!

We are heading to deliver presents today, hit costco and I need to got back to the Mall of America to the American Girl store to exchange! YIKES! I may get sucked into the vortex!

Well about 100 dozen cookies later, slight exageration I know :rotfl2: and my kitchen looks as though its snowed but the girls are happy and they're busy decorating them now!

LazyD quote for the day: Cookin' and sex got at least one thing in common - If it don't get messy you ain't doin' it right!:lmao:

I am making sugar cookies, chocolate sugar cookies, chocolate chip, possibly peanut butter and then probably some mini cupcakes as well.

Don't knock the bags of mix...I am using them! I only made 1 dough from scratch actually. I tend to doctor up the bags tho, adding peppermint extract to half the bag of the chocolate chip, stuff like that. I have a carpload of new cookie cutters to try out too!

Afternoon all!

I think I have a case of the holiday blues. It almost seems like the holidays got harder this year. Now with my grandparents not making it up I am almost dreading Christmas day. Christmas eve I am excited because KC's boss does a traditional night and then we come home and do gifts that night. But traveling to Long Island for the day just seems less appealing, of course I can't stay home so we'll go, but I feel meh about it. I guess I just miss my mom, and its always worse at the holidays.

Never started the cookies yesterday I kind went into a depression and didn't wanna do it, so at least I have everything set up today. The bad thing is KC isn't home to help me so it's gonna take twice as long.

Sorry I'm a downer today guys! I'm sure I'll pop in and out today.

You can send some of those cookies my way. MMMM, MMMMM Bag or no bag. I'm not picky!
I wish I could say something to ease your pain over your momma. I'm missin' my dad. I think that is part of why I want to get the heck out of Dodge for the Holiday. I just have an empty spot in my heart, ya know. Not having him around for Christmas and New Year's just isn't right.

I am home and officially on vacation until Monday

When I got home Jimmy was so excited because he got a medal at school for completing the 100 book challenge! He was so proud of himself!

That's great on both counts!! I liked the pictures with the gingerbread house. Jimmy is so cute!

We're going to the movies tonight. Nice break, I say!

Tata for now.

 to all.

:grouphug: You are a strong woman and Jon is so very lucky to have you as his Momma. You'll get through this just like you've gotten through all the other trials of your life. Take it easy and get yourself back to center. Do what you have to - we aren't going anywhere!

CE - Love your house and the snow!!!!

Z - Got your card today!!! Thanks! The pictures of WDW and the party are great!

TE - Got your card also! Thank You!

Slate - I'm sure you'll find everything you've lost right after your finished with Christmas!

JV - The shopping thing with Doug. I have even written in the color of the container to help him and still he gets it wrong. Sometimes I wonder if photographs would help.:confused3

Jodi - We were in Indy with my brother yesterday. Holy Cow!!! The wind mixed with the cold was miserable.

**************************************************************************
Well it's 11 degrees right now. It is supposed to be 30 tomorrow. That will feel like a heat wave after the last couple of days. Looks like Doug and I will be headed out Wednesday in another ice storm. YAY! I pulled up Louisville, Nashville and Murphy - rain, rain, rain! Great start!

Baked a couple of casseroles today. One for MIL's party, even though we won't be there. One for us. Then I baked Pepperoni Bites for Doug's employee party. Surprise, I didn't even know about that one until yesterday!:headache: Here's the recipe for them if anyone is interested.

From: More Low Carb Recipes - Schweinhart

Pepperoni Bites

8 oz. Cream Cheese, softened
1 C shredded Mozzarella Cheese
1 C shredded Parmesan Cheese
5 oz. diced Water Chestnuts, drained
10 oz. frozen Spinach, thawed and drained
48 Pepperoni slices (I buy the Hormel 8oz. package)

Mix together all the ingredients except Pepperonis. Place Pepperonis in a single layer on a baking sheet. Top each with half of a teaspoon(approx.) of the cheese mixture. Bake at 350 degrees F for 10 - 12 minutes. Let cool. Remove to paper towel to drain. Serve. Makes approx. 48 bites.

These are good warm or cold. I usually make them up early and put them in a storage container lined with paper towel after I let them drain. I've done them without the spinach also.

I didn't get the house cleaned yet. I did get most our our clothes packed. Also all the food except for the cold stuff.

Has anyone not received their SS gift yet? I'm ready to reveal before we get too busy. Everyone's thoughts?

I received this by E-mail from a friend. It is very touching!

"Have a Shay Day"

Two Choices

What would you do?....you make the choice. Don't look for a punch line, there isn't one. Read it anyway. My question is: Would you have made the same choice?

At a fund-raising dinner for a school that serves children with learning disabilities, the father of one of the students delivered a speech that would never be forgotten by all who attended. After extolling the school and its
dedicated staff, he offered a question:

'When not interfered with by outside influences, everything nature does, is done with perfection.

Yet my son, Shay, cannot learn things as other children do. He cannot understand things as other children do.

Where is the natural order of things in my son?'

The audience was stilled by the query.

The father continued. 'I believe that when a child like Shay, who was mentally and physically disabled comes into the world, an opportunity to realize true human nature presents itself, and it comes in the way other people treat that child.'

Then he told the following story:

Shay and I had walked past a park where some boys Shay knew were playing baseball. Shay asked, 'Do you think they'll let me play?' I knew that most of the boys would not want someone like Shay on their team, but as a father I also understood that if my son were allowed to play, it would give him a much-needed sense of belonging and some confidence to be accepted by others in spite of his handicaps.

I approached one of the boys on the field and asked (not expecting much) if Shay could play. The boy looked around for guidance and said, 'We're losing by six runs and the game is in the eighth inning. I guess he can be on our team and we'll try to put him into bat in the ninth inning.'

Shay struggled over to the team's bench and, with a broad smile, put on a team shirt. I watched with a small tear in my eye and warmth in my heart. The boys saw my joy at my son being accepted.

In the bottom of the eighth inning, Shay's team scored a few runs but was still behind by three.

In the top of the ninth inning, Shay put on a glove and played in the right field. Even though no hits came his way, he was obviously ecstatic just to be in the game and on the field, grinning from ear to ear as I waved to him from the stands.

In the bottom of the ninth inning, Shay's team scored again.

Now, with two outs and the bases loaded, the potential winning run was on base and Shay was scheduled to be next at bat.

At this juncture, do they let Shay bat and give away their chance to win the game?

Surprisingly, Shay was given the bat. Everyone knew that a hit was all but impossible because Shay didn't even know how to hold the bat properly, much less connect with the ball.

However, as Shay st epped up to the
plate, the pitcher, recognizing that the other team was putting winning aside for this moment in Shay's life, moved in a few steps to lob the ball in softly. So Shay could at least make contact.

The first pitch came and Shay swung clumsily and missed.

The pitcher again took a few steps forward to toss the ball softly towards Shay.

As the pitch came in, Shay swung at the ball and hit a slow ground ball right back to the pitcher.

The game would now be over.

The pitcher picked up the soft grounder and could have easily thrown the ball to the first baseman.

Shay would have been out and that would have been the end of the game.

Instead, the pitcher threw the ball right over the first baseman's head, out of reach of all team mates.

Everyone from the stands and both teams started yelling, 'Shay, run to first!
Run to first!'

Never in his life had Shay ever run that far, but he made it to first base.

He scampered down the baseline, wide-eyed and startled.

Everyone yelled, 'Run to second, run to second!'

Catching his breath, Shay awkwardly ran towards second, gleaming and struggling to make it to the base.

By the time Shay rounded towards second base, the right fielder had the ball. The smallest guy on their team who now had his first chance to be the hero for his team.

He could have thrown the ball to the second-baseman for the tag, but he understood the pitcher's intentions so he, too, intentionally threw the ball high and far over the third-baseman's head.

Shay ran toward third base deliriously as the runners ahead of him circled the bases toward home.

All were screaming, 'Shay, Shay, Shay, all the Way Shay.'

Shay reached third base because the opposing shortstop ran to help him by turning him in the direction of third base, and shouted, 'Run to third! Shay, run to third!'

As Shay rounded third, the boys from both teams, and the spectators, were on their feet screaming, 'Shay, run home! Run home!'

Shay ran to home, stepped on the plate, and was cheered as the hero who hit the grand slam and won the game for his team

'That day', said the father softly with tears now rolling down his face, 'the boys from both teams helped bring a piece of true love and humanity into this world'.

Shay didn't make it to another summer. He died that winter, having never forgotten being the hero and making me so happy, and coming home and seeing his Mother tearfully embrace her little hero of the day!

AND NOW A LITTLE FOOT NOTE TO THIS STORY:

We all send thousands of jokes through the e-mail without a second thought, but when it comes to sending messages about life choices, people hesitate.

The crude, vulgar, and often obscene pass freely through cyberspace, but public discussion about decency is too often suppressed in our schools and workplaces.

If you're thinking about forwarding this message, chances are that you're probably sorting out the people in your address book who aren't the 'appropriate' ones to receive this type of message. Well, the person who sent you this believes that we all can make a difference.

We all have thousands of opportunities every single day to help realize the 'natural order of things.'

So many seemingly trivial interactions between two people present us with a choice:

Do we pass along a little spark of love and humanity or do we pass up those opportunities and leave the world a little bit colder in the process?

A wise man once said every society is judged by how it treats it's least fortunate amongst them.

You now have two choices:

1. Delete

2. Forward

May your day, be a Shay Day.

I love and respect all of you very much. I hope you liked this. Chat at ya' tomorrow.

What's up homies?

Just stopped in to say "Hola!"

Been working on my August trip ... idle hands and all. :rolleyes1 Here's the ADR's I'm considering ... we'll be on ding dang DDP. Any thoughts?

Chef Mickey's - Evan's birthday dinner
Sc-Fi Dine In
Tutto Italia
Tusker House
O'Hana - dinner
Spoodles - brother requested this place... AGAIN! :faint:
Kona Cafe - breakfast (I'm hooked on this place)

I've got a $25 AirTran coupon if anyone wants it - travel before April 29, book before Jan. 2nd. :thumbsup2

Hi Everyone! I finally got caught up from today! We had fun at the museum, but it was really busy. And DD4 is still not feeling 100% so she was a bit whiny. Fun, but I was ready to leave after lunch!

Let's see what I can remember from the past seven pages....

Jen --    Take all the time you need. We'll be here!

Janet -- have a great break from work! The Eagles still have a chance!

Kristel -- I've read that email before. It's wonderful. And you're right, it was really cold in Indy yesterday! I saw 1 degree and the wind made it at least -25 wind chill! And now I'm hearing ice and snow for tomorrow.:sad2:

Kat -- looks like everyone had fun at your party. And I love the pics! And you can send me some cookies too! DH laughed at the mug KC got. I think I need to get him one!

CE - got my ornament today! The girls (and I) loved it and found a perfect place on the tree for it immediately. I'll try to remember to post a pic tomorrow!

Okay, that's all I got. I went to the grocery this evening and they were out of candy for stocking stuffers! Now I have to find time to go somewhere else tomorrow!:headache:

Hi T!!!!!!

Hi T!!!!!!

Your restaurant list sounds awesome! I wish I was planning a trip....

No WDW trip next year? How's the DLR trip plans coming? popcorn::

Wish you guys were staying longer, so we can hang for a while.

No WDW trip next year? How's the DLR trip plans coming? popcorn::

Wish you guys were staying longer, so we can hang for a while.

DH starts medic school next fall, so he won't be able to go in the fall like we did this year. We're looking at Thanksgiving week or the week before Christmas, but I'm not sure. Or maybe late May/early June, right after school gets out?? But then, that would be May/June 2010.... :sad2: I might try to slip in a girls only trip in there somewhere if one is planned!

The DLR trip hasn't been in our thoughts at all lately. Right now it's more of just trying to get through each day. I forgot to post this earlier, but MIL did not come home from the hospital today. Hopefully tomorrow. She's still very very dizzy when standing and can't walk much without a lot of pain, so they decided she needed to stay another day. :sad1:

I know what you mean about staying longer, but DH's work is paying for the flight, so I guess we'd better at least go to the party on Saturday night in San Diego, right? :confused3
