Hello, just popping into say HI and Happy 4th (even to the non Brits;))

It's still raining in the Northeast:sad2:

Hopefully I will see you all over the weekend. IF not, have a great holiday weekend!

I wish I had not been complaining about day shift being boring earlier!

A big crisis happened here in the ERC (Emergency Report Centre). Our alarm computer which monitors all the fire, intrusion and equipment alarms froze up and when we restarted it the program that runs the alarms would not work! :scared1::scared1::scared1: Luckily it was day shift so my boss was here and so the responsibility and stress of trying to fix it was off me.

Luckily after an hour and a bit of tinkering the system was back to normal! Good thing too as we are going through the process of upgrading our system and the back-up alarm computer has not been updated yet so we did not even have the option of using that if we couldn't fix the problem.

The females are drab, it's only the males that are so bright.
Aren't they always:rotfl2: very pretty though!

I bet you're so excited to see Em - how long has it been? :goodvibes

Wow, how long has it been? I bet the girls are excited to see the boys! :goodvibes
Em moved at the end of December so just over 6 months since we've seen them, Ben walks now so we'll see big changes!

Not much going on. My muther goes to the Dr. this afternoon to get the results of her MRI. Let's hope it's not bad news. :thumbsup2
Good luck to her and what do you mean your legs won't brown? They're brown to start with :rotfl2:

I do need to pick up glo stix though cuz they are Not using the ones I have fo Disney!!!:rotfl2:
So funny Rosie, have fun!

Awww thanks, I'm assuming you mean me :rolleyes1:rotfl2:

I wish I had not been complaining about day shift being boring earlier!
Glad it got fixed, we had a power cut here and it set all the house alarms off  they went on for about half an hour!

Sitting here dying my hair, the girls are at choir and are getting a lift home. Ellie is in a huge grump with me because Jess sat in the front of the car, it was a 2 minute journey for goodness sake :sad2:

I'm feeling a little uncomfortable with all the talk about religion. This has always been our "safe place" where we can all live life without judging each other.

I would feel better if everyone respected the new rule of not talking about politics and religion that the DIS moderaters are now enforcing. :guilty:

Will do! :thumbsup2 and lots of these :grouphug:

So I was just researching WDW prices and it is $100 cheaper for us to stay concierge at AKL for a week vs the Poly
That sounds awesome! :thumbsup2

Jimmy didn't give us a hard time at all giving up his binky! I think it helped that in daycare he couldn't have it all day once he moved to the 1 year old room. As they are walking and stuff they didn't want them to fall, etc...whole liability thing. We would still have it at night until he was about 3 then he just took it and threw it in the trash!
He only has it in his bed, but I guess even then he's attached. Glad I"m not keeping him this weekend. ;)

I moved the computer desk in the kitchen around to face the window so I could watch this:
We've got a bird feeder in the back that entertains me as well as the cats. :rotfl:

Our neighborhood's doing a 4th of July parade through the neighborhood at 5 (kids are decorating bikes and dog to walk), 5:30 is a BBQ at the neighborhood park (that's where the parade walks to-starts in the front by the shops and works towards the back), where everyone brings a dish and they're having burgers and hotdogs, 6:30 pm is an all-ages kickball game, then live music and then everyone walks back to the front of the neighborhood at 9 pm to watch the neighborhood across the street set off fireworks over the big fields.
I wish our neighborhood did something like that. Where do you live?

Not much going on. My muther goes to the Dr. this afternoon to get the results of her MRI. Let's hope it's not bad news. :thumbsup2
Any news yet?

Would you believe the neighborhood kids are knocking at my door at 8:45am to see if Mads and Evan can play. Seriously, my kids just woke up!
Some kid rang our bell at 8.45 last night looking for someone else. I thought he was out kind of late. :confused3

I wish I had not been complaining about day shift being boring earlier!
 Good thing your boss was there.

Ellie is in a huge grump with me because Jess sat in the front of the car, it was a 2 minute journey for goodness sake :sad2:
:rotfl2: But not for you!

Mitch has now decided that I should go to Daytona with him for the race. So do not want to do that. :sad2:

Glad it got fixed, we had a power cut here and it set all the house alarms off  they went on for about half an hour!

Yikes! Have I ever told y'all the story of me and my MIL's alarm? It was years before we were married. I find it really funny.

But, Mu-u-ummm, it's not FAIR... ;)

The playdate just left - it was awesome, but now I'm scared that my two will start bickering again! :rotfl2:

Seriously, I really like that kid. :thumbsup2 And he was so sweet - he apparently wasn't as coached to remember who came to "move up day" with him (maybe his mom's not as freaky as I am :rotfl:) and so he asked the boys who they got for their second grade teachers. Buzz (his bosom buddy) said his, then Woody said the one that they're going to have together. Friend said, "Woohoo!" but then, "But I'm really going to miss your brother." :lovestruc I thought that was really sweet.

I don't think I said this morning that D's "move to a new computer issues" kept me up until after 2:00 - he was up 'til nearly 4:00, but I think it's finally worked out. Anyway, I had a bunch of coffee this morning, but now that it's still rainy, dark, and we are company-less, I might snooze on the couch for a bit. The kids have just turned on Lego Indy, so I should not be too needed for a bit. :thumbsup2

I'm so bored!

Just one more hour of work for me but the clock seemed to stop after lunch. I've already updated our 5 year budget, planned our next three vacations, put it in our calander in August 2012 to start building our dream house and now I have nothing else do except for work.

After work I need to go grocery shopping but I liked Dawn's idea of going alone so I think I will wait until DH gets home before I do that.

Oh! I do have good news! My DHs former employer made a plea bargain with the feds which means my DH doesn't have to testify! :woohoo: :woohoo:

Thanks :rotfl2:

Go Braves (I like your avatar!)

Happy 4th of July, everyone.

I highly recommend renting John Adams on DVD-it's the HBO miniseries, and it's totally riveting, and really makes you appreciate our country (with apologies to our UK expats and Canucks)

And before you say, nah, too dry for me, keep in mind that normally my favorite movie is The Transporter :lmao:.

OK, my alarm story, or "Why I'll probably never get a house alarm." :rotfl:

Way back in the day. Let's call it roughly spring of 1997. D & I decided to do spring break by skiing in Utah, and BIL, who was a senior in high school decided to go with. We had a great time, but drove back in one long drive, so I was really exhausted.

Meantime, the day we arrived back after driving all night, one of my former roommates was having a wedding shower, in the Chicago area, but exactly opposite of where D's mom lives. She's on the northeast side of the metroplex, the shower was southwest, so it was a haul down there, even though technically both were in the 'burbs.

So, we went to D's mom's and they got out and I changed and headed on my merry way. She'd asked me when I thought I'd be back, and I wasn't sure, so she gave me a house key.

I went to the shower, had a nice time, but was beat and there wasn't much going on after, so I headed back. I got back, rang the bell, no one was there, so I opened the door.

Chaos ensued. The alarm went off. I had no idea of the code, had more or less forgotten there even was an alarm. The cat left. The phone rang. It was the alarm company, "Do you have the code?" "No." "If I were you, I'd check the rolodex..." I did, but it wasn't there. The lady was really nice, but ended up saying she'd have to call the police to come out, took my name, etc.

I was SO tired, the alarm wouldn't stop, I was kind of at that place where you can't even function. The phone rang again. It's D's dad, looking for BIL (but they have been divorced for years, he does NOT live in this house.) I'm begging him for the code, just to stop the noise - of course he doesn't have his ex-wife's alarm code. :lmao:

Phone rings again (the noise just won't stop!) and it's D's oldest step-sister, who lives in VA. "Do you know the code?" "No, so sorry." (I'd maybe met her once at this point, that was awkward.)

Phone rings AGAIN - now it's D's dad again. He is a lawyer, wanted to make sure that I would call him if I needed him, which was nice, but by this point I wanted the noise to STOP.

Finally, the alarm quits. Ahhhh....

Doorbell rings. It's the police. As soon as I open the door for them, the alarm starts going again. :rotfl2:

He looks at my license, looks at me, decides I'm no threat (thank goodness - at this point I really kind of did expect to be held until someone ID'ed me as OK) and leaves me with the once-again screaming alarm. :rotfl2:

Finally the phone rang, it was D's mom - they'd been in a movie, this was still early days of cell phones - and she gave the code and apologized over and over for setting it in the first place.

Ah, well.

It probably wouldn't have been such a big deal if I hadn't been so sleep-deprived, but I was dying. And we all still joke about it today. :rotfl2:

D's step dad gave that to us at Christmas, but we've not watched it yet. Good to know. We're history geeks anyway, so I'm sure we'll like it. :thumbsup2

I loved John Adams! I'm half-American and I am very into American history, well all history really. ;) Definitely a great show and not boring at all. Also silly but the opening theme music made me love it even more. :rotfl:

CE - Your story is hilarious! My grandparents have an alarm system, I am always so careful when moving around their house at night as I am afraid I am going to trigger it somehow. :lmao:

Great!

The house will be designed by DH (being the architect and all). It will have to have at least 6 bedrooms because I am adamant about the kids all having their own rooms. Big kitchen, big living room, dining room, and also a playroom/rec room. 4 bathrooms (minimum), swimming pool, laundry room with two sets of washer/dryers, lots of storage, library/office, ya know, everything. What can I say? I'm spoiled

I do want our bedroom & bath, the kitchen, living room, guest bedroom and guest bathroom all on the main level with no stairs. My mom has trouble with steps and i can totally see her living with us within the next few years.

Anyway, i think we are going to start looking at land in august 2011 and start building in january 2012

vacations - we want to go to the beach before school starts but i just dont see it happening right now. DH still wants to go snow skiing so that will probably be in Jan-Feb of next year.
