Afternoon Fockers!

I read along these past couple of days just didn't have time to quote.

T - Sorry about the construction update. I would still have a party though, maybe not at your house if you don't think the kitchen will be ready.

Deb - Great pics of the Jo Bros. Looks like a lot of fun

Kat - Great pics of NYC!

:wave: Hi to all I missed!

****************************************************

School today for me and daycare for the kids. Not much else going on.

Hope y'all are having a good Wednesday!

Hello from the sweltering Midwest.
It’s just disgustingly sticky and hot.

DEB posted pics from the Jonas concert.

Very cool!

KAT is feeling meh. She posted more pics from NYC.

Great stuff again!

JANET is still sick in Fl.

:sad1:

T is ready for her kitchen to be done.

How was DL the other day???

ROSIE is still working her hiney off.

Right now your motivation should be to slow down! I am glad you are having some fun though.

DAWN is hoping things will slow down now.

:hug:

CE is still reporting from the attic.

:lmao:

CEL BEL is ready for DL in 16 days.

:cheer2:

LORI is in school today.

:thumbsup2

I’m working the next 3 nights. Should still be a mild work week. With the slow computers at work + the DIS’s slow connection, trying to catch up at work is like watching grass grow. It’s just frustrating. So I’m throwing in this update now while I’m still at home.

I counted out my work days including the OT that I know about. I have 20 fuzzy days until I’m on vacation. Then 6 days until I head to the Motherland. Can I get a H*** YEAH!!!??:banana::yay::dance3:

I had dinner with the x-SIL last night. She is moving north to South Bend, IN. (I know that sounds funny.) I guess she has a job at a hospital up there. That’s where her current flame lives. He is a Redneck.:rotfl2: I think he and Doug would get along well. He has his own home with land. That’s good. He is a mechanic. His specialty is in hydraulics. Can’t help but call to mind that song, “….Want to take a ride on my big green tractor…..” YEP! And YEEHAW! I hope she is happy.

Although she did bring up my brother’s wedding. She is still bitter over his moving on so quickly. Oh well. Guess I won’t be inviting them to the same party anytime soon.:sad2:

I have to get ready for work.:upsidedow

Have a good one, friends.

T- Thanks for the Janet update. :goodvibes

Ugh, you touched on what I've been cranky about with my mom. :sad2: I hate how trying not to upset people keeps us from doing things we want to do. I say have a party. Who cares what anyone thinks. Andy's the only one who matters, right? :hug:
True that. But I think I'll put it on the back burner for now. I think he'd prefer just a quiet family dinner, just the 4 of us. ;)
It ended upbeing the 3rd LONG day for me I have worked 41 hours in thelast 72 !!!:scared1: Tomorrow will be a much shorter one !! :banana:
Wow, Rosie! Don't let them work ya to death! :faint"
Good morning Friends :goodvibes Got the kids off to school and I am dreading going to work. I think I hate Wednesdays more than Mondays. It seems that Tuesdays (my day off) I work harder trying to get everything else done. Then i don't want to go back on Wed. I haven't even woken Tau up yet.

Not much really to report. Just wanted to drop in to say hi :wave: [/COLOR]
Hope work wasn't too bad today! And Hi back atcha! :wave:

T - Sorry about the construction update. I would still have a party though, maybe not at your house if you don't think the kitchen will be ready.
They're doing double time right now! I've got painters here and they're doing the grout before days end! Whew!
Hello from the sweltering Midwest.
It’s just disgustingly sticky and hot.
Blah! I saw that on the weather channel today for your area!:eek:

How was DL the other day???
We had a great time, thanks. We spent most of our time at DCA, though. DL was reeeeeeeeally crowded, so we avoided it, except to ride Casey, Jr. ;)

I counted out my work days including the OT that I know about. I have 20 fuzzy days until I’m on vacation. Then 6 days until I head to the Motherland. Can I get a H*** YEAH!!!??:banana::yay::dance3:

HELL YEAH! Whoopty whoopt! How exciting!! :banana:

************************************************

The house is nice and quiet!! Well save for the workers, but they're painting silently. :teeth:
Got rid of the kids, the parents and the hubby for the rest of the day. :dance3: My parents took the kids to my brothers house and Andy headed to work and I get to sit here with the painters and sniff paint. I'm just getting a headache, though. :headache:

Well, they're still telling me next Friday is our completion day. We'll see. Apparently I'm not as optimistic as everyone else is.

Hope y'all are having a great HUMP day! :hippie:

Hello everybody!

What a friggin mess the last 24 hours has been! KC worked late and by worked late I mean came home at friggin 6:15 am when I was leaving for work. Needless to say getting sleep without him here, and worrying if he was going to come home or not made me nutso- so it was a rough night.

I went to work 8-1 and passed off tomorrow's shift to someone else, so I am off until Monday!!! :woohoo:

I napped for a bit but I really need a good nights sleep without an alarm clock tomorrow to become a human again.

Saturday we are having a small party so I have some things to do to get that ready. And I have to find out where to send my trivia in an email!

Anyways i'm off to the couch to vege and wait for KC.

Hello from the sweltering Midwest.
It’s just disgustingly sticky and hot.

I think you guys must have it worse than us. It's been hot and sticky here but not unbearable.

Morning Fockers! This is the first chance I've had to pop in, but I'm on the iPhone so I'll keep it short.

Buffalo was a trip; my friends' children are monsters. I went in knowing how unpleasant other visits with them have been but hoped things would be different this time... nope. By the third day, when we left there for PA, Leo and I were fed up and exhausted. But all was made well again in PA - we love it here! Visiting my friend with horses, cats, dogs and no kids. ;). We rode last night after Leo picked the corn and potatos we ate for dinner. He just might be a country boy.

Back home tomorrow, then school starts next Tues. I'll catch up sometime! Has anyone heard from Janet? I've only seen Tweets and I'm worried.

TTYL!

:woohoo::woohoo::yay::yay::banana::banana: For the 20 (now 19) fuzzy days!!!!!!

I think it is great that you can still be friends with your X-Sil. My X's family have nothing nice to say to me, but my mother still gives my X hugs and talks to him every chance she gets. At first it irritated me but as she explained, he is the father of her grandchildren and for that reason she will always love him and care about him. :sick:

I know she is right. I just don't have to like it. :snooty:

True that. But I think I'll put it on the back burner for now. I think he'd prefer just a quiet family dinner, just the 4 of us. ;)
that is all that I ever want too. I'm just too busy to go to a party for myself :laughing:

Hope work wasn't too bad today! And Hi back atcha! :wave:
It was ok. Today I will be in the shop so more bleh today!

Well, they're still telling me next Friday is our completion day. We'll see. Apparently I'm not as optimistic as everyone else is.

Hope they keep to their schedule

Hello everybody!

What a friggin mess the last 24 hours has been!
I don't sleep well without my DH either. :hug:

So I have a question... Do you lie to your kids.....EVER? Like by telling them the easy answer even though it may not be true? This is a parenting issue between DH and I that has really been bugging me lately. I have tried hard not to lie to my kids about anything. But he sometimes tells them what he knows they want to hear just to avoid having an argument or issues.

For example, Alpha asked if we are going to die. DH said "NO, we are not going to die". I corrected him and said well everybody dies, but we probably will not die today.

Or, "Is our house going to catch on fire" he says No but I say, probably not because we try to be careful when we cook and heat the house, etc. But if it does we should practice our emergency escape plan.

Or even "Can I have a motorcycle for Christmas", I say no because I know we are not giving them one. He says maybe or we'll see even though he knows the answer is 'no' also.

I'm not trying to be mean to them but I do want them to know that they can always count on me to tell them the truth. The reason this is bothering me now is because here lately I have found myself doing it to Tau. Like in the mornings, in the car on the way to dayschool, when he is crying that he wants to go to Mimi's house and not go to school. I will tell him that Mimi will come and get him at school or something. DH was right in that it is easy. He immediately stops crying. But I feel horrible about telling him something I know is not true.

What do yall think?

/
What about a happy medium, Debra? I tend to say "maybe" when I know the answer is "no" if I'm going to get tantrums and I don't want to deal with them- such as Christmas requests. But if it's a fear, such as fire or death, I would go with a hug and explanation that it's not something they need to worry about right now becuase it's their job to have fun and be a kid.

I think having your kids' trust is HUGE if you want to continue to be their "go to" person when they get older and are struggling with bullying, peer pressure, etc. KWIM? :goodvibes

today is much better than the past few days. I am so glad I traded off my shift.

I am baking some cinnamon streuesul(sp?) bread, KC is still snoring away. I have a small list of things to do and plenty of time to do it!

Hope you all have a great day!

A few fun things I read in my new Family Fun magazine...

The Wii is coming out with a 3D Toy Story Mania game on 9/15! :3dglasses

Toy Story and Toy Story 2 are coming to theaters in 3D on October 2nd :3dglasses

Glad to hear you are finally enjoying yourselves! :goodvibes I talked to Janet a few days ago (Sunday, I think) and Jim and Jimmy came home on Tuesday. Janet wasn't cleared to fly at the time. I'll try to get a call or text into her today to see how she's doing and I'll call or email you and post here.

I don't lie to them, but I don't always tell them the entire truth, KWIM? There are something better left unsaid.

Cabinet guys are here doing the installation. I had wanted to take the kids to DLR this afternoon for some time off, but Andy wants me to stay and supervise. Bleh!

I've just got to make a Target run and that's it. Boooooooooring! I need to do some back to school shopping, the kids both need 1 more pair of shoes and Evan needs a few more shirts. I dread going to the mall this week. :scared:

Happy Thursday! :flower3:

:wave: Hi V! Glad you were able to check in. Sorry about the friends' kids but glad you are now having a good time in PA. That is too cute about Leo and the corn and potatoes. He must be loving it.

What do yall think?

I do the same thing with DR when I drop him off at preschool. I just get sick of hearing all the whining so I tell him I'll see him in 30 minutes. I know once he gets there and starts playing he will be perfctly fine and heck he doesn't know the difference between 30 minutes and 2 hours. All he cares about is that he knows I'm coming back to get him.

And I agree with Dawn, in that the life and death and really imporatant type questions try to answer as truthfully as possible and when it comes to things like Christmas or silly little things answer as accordingly (sp?) so no tantrums are thrown. LOL

With my kids we had to have my dog put to sleep this past year and I could have lied to the kids about it but told them to truth. Now they keep asking for a new puppy and I'll either tell them 'Maybe,' 'We'll see,' or something else to keep them happy for a while until they ask again.

*******************************************************

The kids slept late this morning...thank goodness!

We just got back from Lindsey's school to see who her teacher will be for the year. I asked her Kindy teacher to put Lindsey with a teacher who was going to be strict but also challange her this year. Her teacher suggested two people and Linds got the one I know and like. :yay: She'll also have a few kids in her class that she had last year.

The bad thing is that there was this little boy in her class last year that Lindsey did not like at all. He just got under her skin and annoyed the crap outta her. Well, he's in her class again this year. I hope it's better this year!

We gotta run to the post office in a bit to mail some paperwork to my dad that he forgot here. I think the kids and I will walk, if the rain holds off, and then head to DQ for a late lunch.

Gonna run and get things done around the house first. Hope everyone has a good Thursday!

Thanks!

I agree with Dawn. I used to use maybe a lot especially with someone Tao's age. I do think you are doing the right thing with Alpha. If they have specific questions like that it opens a discussion about things they are worried about. You are a great Mom. I do think I would talk to DH about it, it would be good to be on the same page about how to handle things like this.

Boo about supervising. I keep trying to talk Bill into going to DL so far it is a "no go" :sad2:. Eww about going to the mall, I bet it will be packed.

I saw that! Also, right now at Target, if you reserve TSM for $1, you get a $5 gift card when you pick it up. :teeth:

We have Blackberry Storms, Bill has been joking about getting an iphone, I told him NO :rotfl:.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
So sorry I haven't been around. Life had been too hectic lately. All signs point to Bill losing his job Sept. 30th, even though they haven't told him yet :sad2: due to Illinois state budget cuts.
We have been working on a website we are building for a daycare center, it will be done by the end of the day. I have been buying, making, and planning for our WDW trip in 76 days. I need to STOP buying. I have been on a "cast member appreciation card" making kick lately.
Bill had an enlarged lymph node on his neck that has gone away, thank goodness, that had me a nervous wreck. He is my life, I really don't know how I would live without him :sad1:.
I am hoping to keep up from now on.
I want Janet to know she is in my thoughts and prayers for a speedy recovery!!:hug:
I do too! :hug:
I'm off to get Reid again! When I got him Tuesday, my sister was home by the time we got there. I was glad, but you know he likes mom more than Auntie. My parents are coming late tomorrow for a week. Their 45th anniversary is Sunday so we're taking them to Colorado Fondue, nowhere near Disney, but if you can go, it's wonderful! The shuttle is supposed to launch Tuesday morning, 1.30, and Mitch wants to go so I hope we do. I'll have to email Jordan go get proper camera settings!
I don't think I can wait until Christmas! :laughing: I'll probably bust it open as soon as it's released.
Oh my gosh! THey sure are... I'll post pics on FB today.
Boo about supervising. I keep trying to talk Bill into going to DL so far it is a "no go" :sad2:. Eww about going to the mall, I bet it will be packed.
Well if Bill changes his mind, I'd love to meet up for dinner or a cocktail. :goodvibes
Oh no! I'm so sorry to hear that. Layoffs aren't happening here as much, but you can bet NO ONE is hiring. My friend tried to get a flippin' job at Build-A-Bear. Apparently they didn't like the way she sang "Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star" :confused3
Bill had an enlarged lymph node on his neck that has gone away, thank goodness, that had me a nervous wreck. He is my life, I really don't know how I would live without him :sad1:.
Me too! The world does not revolve around iPhones. :rolleyes:
In an ideal world, it does Angela. :lmao:;) You know I though of you today at Target. There was a woman with nails and she had her iPhone and was using a stylus instead of her finger - she said it was perfection. :lmao:
Have fun! Ooh, I hope you get some great photos! I remember LL showed us a pic she took from Narcoossee's of the shuttle flying through the dark sky... I laughed cause it looked like a popcorn flavored jelly belly on a black cloth napkin. :rotfl2:
JANET UPDATE:
She has 1 more Dr. appointment before she is clear to fly. Looks like it'll be on the weekend. :yay:
Poor thing! She soooooooooo needs a do-over! :sad2:
*********************************************
Holy crap, my kitchen is looking FAB-U-LOUS! :worship::banana::cool1: I got into a HUGE fight with the contractor this morning about one part. The attached island looked like it was 3 inches too short! I flipped out and told the guys to stop and jumped on the phone to call David. He told me I signed the paper with all the measurements and that was that. :eek:
Wrong thing to say to me.
I told him to get his *** over here now or I was going to stop the job for good. Andy and my mother were flipping out over what I said. :lmao: Anyway to make a long story short, he flew over here, we fixed the problem. I told him I expected perfection. I didn't think I was wrong. :teeth: Then he offered me a job because of my 'tude. :cool2::lmao:
