What about a happy medium, Debra? I tend to say "maybe" when I know the answer is "no" if I'm going to get tantrums and I don't want to deal with them- such as Christmas requests. But if it's a fear, such as fire or death, I would go with a hug and explanation that it's not something they need to worry about right now becuase it's their job to have fun and be a kid.

I think having your kids' trust is HUGE if you want to continue to be their "go to" person when they get older and are struggling with bullying, peer pressure, etc. KWIM? :goodvibes

I agree---i use the "we'll see" response a lot--and sometimes that's a yes--it just depends. With teens, we negotiate a lot too---if they want to do something what are they gonna do to get it?? So it's not ALWAYS a no.

I don't like to lie to them either....but I also remember that it's ok for them not to know EVERYTHING either....so sometimes, my repsponse is "it's none of your business....although, that leads to more questions sometimes!

Wow---really hope Janet is feeling better---she does need a do-over!

T--glad your kitchen is going well....I'll hire you to deal with the contractors next time!;)

What about a happy medium, Debra?
That makes sense.

I don't lie to them, but I don't always tell them the entire truth, KWIM? There are something better left unsaid.
Yes, Thanks.

I am baking some cinnamon streuesul(sp?) bread, KC is still snoring away. I have a small list of things to do and plenty of time to do it!
Sounds yummy! Glad you had a better day :goodvibes

The Wii is coming out with a 3D Toy Story Mania game on 9/15! :3dglasses

Toy Story and Toy Story 2 are coming to theaters in 3D on October 2nd :3dglasses

Sounds fun!

And I agree with Dawn, in that the life and death and really imporatant type questions try to answer as truthfully as possible and when it comes to things like Christmas or silly little things answer as accordingly (sp?) so no tantrums are thrown. LOL
Glad I am not the only one. glad Lindsey got the teacher you like!

I need someone all tech savy to tell me all the cool apps I can get for the Balckberry, man...
I need to introduce you to my DH. He loves his crackberry...er... I meant blackberry.

I agree with Dawn. I used to use maybe a lot especially with someone Tao's age. I do think you are doing the right thing with Alpha. If they have specific questions like that it opens a discussion about things they are worried about. You are a great Mom. I do think I would talk to DH about it, it would be good to be on the same page about how to handle things like this. Yes, we do need to be on the same page. i think most of the reason we do things differently is because I do not know all of Alpha and delta's past. I tend to go along with him with them because he has always been their dad and I know there are some things that I just don't understand because I wasn't 'there'. But with Tau we have both been with him since birth and we should be on the same page by now. But I still find us doing things differently. I wouldn't say wrong, but just different.

So sorry I haven't been around. Life had been too hectic lately. All signs point to Bill losing his job Sept. 30th, even though they haven't told him yet :sad2: due to Illinois state budget cuts.
Yikes  about the job.

The shuttle is supposed to launch Tuesday morning, 1.30, and Mitch wants to go so I hope we do. I'll have to email Jordan go get proper camera settings!
Sounds fun!

JANET UPDATE:

She has 1 more Dr. appointment before she is clear to fly. Looks like it'll be on the weekend. :yay:

Yea! For Janet :yay: :yay:

*********************************************

I told him to get his *** over here now or I was going to stop the job for good. Andy and my mother were flipping out over what I said. :lmao: Anyway to make a long story short, he flew over here, we fixed the problem. I told him I expected perfection. I didn't think I was wrong. :teeth: Then he offered me a job because of my 'tude. :cool2::lmao:
Ha! Can't wait to see before and after photos!

All you fockers have the best advice. thanks to all of you :goodvibes

Well i am very upset at my X tonight. Yesterday Alpha comes home and says he wants to play football. We start discussing it and then Omicron wants to play...then Delta. So we were all excited last night talking about the season and football in general (this is the south, we love our football). Today the X picks them up from school and I told him to meet me at the football practice field because Omicron was signing up.

Then Omicron calls me at 4:30 and says he changed his mind. i asked why and he says because he just remembered how hard tball practices were and he didn't want to go to all the practices. I said ok then told him to put his dad on the phone.

I said I dont know what you told him but I am very upset that you talked him out of playing. He said "I didn't talk him out of it. I just reminded him how he didn't like going to practices and how long they were and how much running was involved..."

I said "that is talking him out of it" I am SOOO MAD at him. What kind of father talks his son out of playing a sport because it is work? Is'nt that what dads are suppose to be teaching their sons?

OK. Vent over.

So, how was your day?

Evening All!! Had some internet problems !! After 45 minutes on the phone Judy discovered the dog had unplugged the phone line !!!:lmao:

Good Morning!

T got an evening alone Wednesday. Just her…… and painters……and fumes. They are still saying they will be done by next Friday. She supervised the cabinet install yesterday. She needs to get the back to school stuff done too. She could get a job just with her ‘tude’.

I just hate this time of the year. It is crazy around here with all the kids and parents. You absolutely can’t go to any of the stores or the mall without crowds, screaming kids and no parking. Hey, sounds like WDW in the summer months!
Glad your kitchen is coming along. Too bad you had to yell at David.

KAT says KC worked until the wee hours on Wed morn. That meant she slept alone. She is off until Monday. She is having a party Saturday night.

Have a great weekend off.

V had quite an ordeal with her friend’s rotten kids. Leo is a cowboy and a farmer.

I’m glad that you did have fun at the farm.

DEB is having some ‘should I or shouldn’t I’ issues with her children when it comes to telling them little fibs to make things easier. Plus she is not very happy with the EX right now.

I think Dawn hit it on the head. I don’t have kids but it makes since to me.

LORI says that Lindsey should have a good year in Kindergarten with the exception of one boy.

I hope she does well.

TRACY says Bill is probably going to lose his job at the end of Sept. She has been in WDW overdrive. She has bought and made tons of wonderful things for the trip in 76 days. Good news – Bill's swollen lymph node has gone down!

I can’t think of a more special couple than you and Bill.
I am so, so glad that his swelling has gone down.
I know that things will work out on the job front.Bill is too smart and too driven to just sit back and let things happen. He has never played the part of a victim. He never will.
I love all the stuff you have done for your trip with the kids. I wish I had had a mom/friend like you around when I was growing up! I hope they really do appreciate what you are doing.

ANGELA has been hanging with Reid. Her parents are having their 45th anniversary on Sunday. They are celebrating at Colorado Fondue.

Tell your parents congratulations. I’ve never heard of Colorado Fondue. I looked it up. Sounds wonderful. The prices aren't too bad either.

TE did a fly-by!

Hi TE!

ROSIE’s dog must be tired of the "bone" collectors that keep calling him on the phone! :lmao:
I'm glad that is all that was wrong with your computer!

***********************************************************
I don't have a whole lot going on. I did get my ME stuff yesterday! That always gives a body a boost!

I wish everybody a good start to the weekend!

No, no. It is my X-H that i am so upset with. My DH is mr. wonderful

Woo Hoo for the ME!!! Mom and I need to book our flight but she is at the beach.

Good morning friends. :goodvibes

Good Morning Fockers!

Tracey - Sorry to hear about Bill and his job but glad the swelling in his neck has gone down. The trip planning all sounds great!

Angela - Hope you got to have a fun day with Reid!

T - Glad you got the cabinet problems worked out. I saw you had posted a photo of them on FB and I seriously can not believe they have all that work done so far. I can't wait to see the final product.

Deb - about the whole ex thing. That was really sucky for him to do

Rosie - That was too funny about the dog!:rotfl2:

Kristal - :woohoo: about the ME stuff!

******************************************************

Not much going on for the kids and I today. I think we're going to be stuck inside for most of the day since it looks like rain. YUCK! We might walk up to the library though so the kids can pick out a few movies and books. I have some stuff to do around the house and some homework to finish up so that's about it for us.

Hope everyone has a good Friday!

I'm home and survived 5 days with 2 11 y/o's and 2 13 y/o girls :faint: There was lots of screaming though, the excited time and they spent so many hours in Dad's pool I'm surprised they haven't all shrunk :rotfl:

Looks as though it's still been very quiet here, hope Janet is better, what exactly was wrong anyone know? Was it swine flu?

Anyway I have loads of catching up to do, probably take me all week :rotfl2:

Good morning!

Well last night was interesting. Pretty much all of SE Ontario including where we live was under a tornado and severe storm watch. At least 5 tornadoes touched down in the Toronto area, thankfully none that I know of came anywhere near us. The electrical storms did come and boy were they violent. I swear I could feel the house shaking ever time the thunder boomed and you should have seen the night sky all lit up from the lightening, it was nuts! My poor Hobbes was so scared that his tail got all puffed up!

This morning I took Erich to get his learner's permit. It will be interesting teaching him how to drive. No idea what spurred him on to get it all of the sudden. He is 21 and has had no interest the past 6 years but now all of the sudden he wants his permit. :confused3

In bad news we had to take the van in to get serviced this week as every time we braked it was making this horrible grinding noise. $1000 later it is good as new, turns out one of our brake pads was basically bare and they of course found a few other things that needed to get fixed as they always seem to do. Definitely not an expense we were expecting, at least when it is split three ways it is not so bad.

I also got my class schedule for the Fall and it sucks royally! I have 8:30 classes pretty much every day and school day usually lasts until 5:30 at night with big breaks in between classes which means I am going to be sitting around on campus twiddling my thumbs as it is a waste going home between classes. Oh well, at least I will have ample study time! I suppose I could also use the time between classes to take advantage of my new YMCA membership and go to the gym (it is included in my tuition). I guess the reason the schedule really irked me is because it is really cutting into my work availability which means less money coming in and I like money! :headache:

Hope everybody is doing well, I come over every day and skim, I love Kristel's updates, they help a lot! :thumbsup2

I like money too!

I hope you can use the breaks to your advantage and do something nice for yourself like go to the gym or study. Sorry about the work situation though.

It's been announced that Moms Panel applications start 10th September see this link www.disneyworldmoms.com/2010

OOoooo. Thanks!

its a very bad day in this house. things went from great to horrible yesterday. suddenly KC wanted to talk again. apparently his night out was spent trying make decisions about staying with me or not. he came up with no. we are sort of just dealing in the now, trying to hash everything out, but he says his feelings have changed and thats pretty much that. I don't know if thats true of if theres something underneath all the hurt and stuff. we did make an appointment to go to therapy on Monday evening so I'm hoping that will help. if not I may be moving to Florida because i don't have anyone else here to stay with and my friend Laura already told me should could put me up.

I'm sort of in a state of denial and hope, i guess to survive. i really feel like there is something left for us and I'm hoping we can reach it again. we are getting along oddly well tho because we are being brutally honest.

we are going to go to the diner and get some food in a few and continue the talking that has been going on since yesterday.

just need some support and pixie dust from you guys.

Tell your DH I am very sorry to shed a bad light on him instead of the EX. It has been corrected. :thumbsup2
I thougth I saw that SW was offering discounted flights again. You might want to check it out.

It's a good thing that your library is so close. We've had rain off and on for the last 3 days. Hey, at least it has cooled off now!

Sounds like everyone had fun. Next time maybe you should invest in some earplugs. :lmao:
I think everyone is wrapped up in 'back to school'. CE is still at her parents place. I'm not sure what Janet had other than the eye pressure problem. I guess we'll find out in the next couple of days.

It's been nasty here a couple of times too. We had to go to our shelters at work the other day because the Doppler showed tornado like weather. Not much came of it. A couple of trees down in town.

That's too funny about Erich. Is there a new love interest? :rolleyes1

Sorry about the van bill. It never happens at a good time. Doug just bought brake pads for both of the cars. Mine are starting to sqeak a bit. I think he is going to put them on this weekend. He does same me money sometimes. ;)

Yep, I think going to the Y or just finding a nice place to relax and get caught up will be a good deal.

Dang it, Kat! I am so, so sorry. If he has agreed to go to therapy, that is good. I'm glad you've got a plan if things don't go the way you'd like. You have to be ready to pick yourself up and move forward.

My heart goes out to the both of you. I hope and pray you can work it out!!!

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
Things at work are just getting crazier and crazier. I won't go into details but we all have to watch what we are doing all the time. We especially have to be careful of who is around. :sad2: I hope they come to a decision on the sale of the place soon.

The x-SIL wants to have a girl's night out before she vacates the area. She said Sept 4. I don't have to work so I guess I'll be going.

Have I told you guys how much I am looking forward to this vacation??!!:rotfl2: You'r going to hear it again over the next few weeks.

I've got nothing for the weekend. :confused3 I guess just more yard work if it doesn't rain. I do need to get a couple of pictures of the patio for you guys. I'll try to remember.

My fingers are crossed for those that need it. I wish you all a good weekend!

**Leaves to check out SW prices**

Kat~:hug: Lots of PD coming your way. Ill be praying for you! Just hang in there.

Just went to the mall. Crazy crowded in the Macys shoe dept! But at least i got some cute short boots. I was looking for something in forever 21, but it was such a mess in there i couldnt stand it. This is why i like to do my shopping online, in my home, in quiet, no harsh lighting, discounts, relaxed....:cloud9: Now im going to go look up the crap i was trying to find in the store.
