TEAM FIVE: Herc's Heroes--Post miles/hours here!

Hey guys,

I need all of your advice. I cannot tell you how much I want to be on this team, but I feel as tho' I am letting you all down.
My weak link is my asthma. Every winter I develop a case of asthmatic bronchitis that lingers for months. I cannot run up the steps at work without coughing and trying so hard to breathe at the top. I attempted two run/walks since the start of this competition, but did not log them due to the extremely slow pace (could hardly call it exercise since I stoped often to wheeze and cough).

I really think I will do well with the miles and time (I also bicycle), in a few more weeks, and I'd love to get to know all of you better(--and this was the way to do it) :dance3: , but I should probably drop out since I've already let Team 5 down as the only one not logging in at all. I don't know what else to do? :guilty:

Marie

Marie, don't be ridiculous! I am also asthmatic, and we all know that we're all only one viral germ away from being in the same boat if we get sick. I've been fortunate enough (knock on wood) not to get sick so far this winter, but two years ago my bronchitis was verging on a pneumonia hospitalization. It happens.

Please don't drop out--it's a long year, and I'm sure you won't be the only one with circumstances that prevent you from working out. We need you on our team! For all you know, I'll get one of those nasty summer colds that sidelines me and you'll be the one logging the hours I can't get in.

Hang out here, let us know how you're feeling, complain when you feel frustrated about being sick, and know that you've got us all behind you.

Honestly, i don't care if we "win" or not, as long as we inspire and encourage everyone to do his or her best. Right now, if this post is your best, then thanks for taking the time to post it!

:)

And for crying out loud, feel better! Take a nap. Drink some hot tea. Watch bad daytime television. :)

Hi to all. Hope the weekend was good for everybody. The game/contest got me motivated to do something today so I did:
4 miles/:55 and Biggest Loser strength and toning/:20
Total 4 miles+strength/1:15

Marie :grouphug:

I agree with Duckie, you came here, you posted - its a good thing!! The journey of a thousand miles begins with one step~~ take it slow, one day at a time - and remember, there is always tomorrow!!

How can we support you? What do you need?

Besides, you never know what kind of an inspiration you could be to others!! (*ahem, to me!!) Dont quit on yourself!! This weather has to get better!! So trust me, you are not letting me down... (maybe you should ask Master Panda about points for doing "nekkid training" :rolleyes1 )

correct me if I'm wrong... you are trying you are doing AS MUCH as you an - you pushed yourself to do something when you could've chosen to be a couch potato -

with all due respect Marie - those 5 min a day (or more) of conscious effort to walk count!! Going up the stairs, you could've taken an elevator - that counts!! Dont be so hard on yourself, and do not compare yourself to anyone else!! You are doing something for your health!! WTG!!

Back from a work retreat. We did a hike through the snowy woods around the lake at the retreat center yesterday. The guy at the desk told us it was 4 miles. It took us little over an hour and a half. Lots of hills and tree roots and rocks and stuff so it kept us on the slow side.

I'm trying to catch up on being gone a few days. So we can post our daily stuff but then should post a weekly total. Is a "week" Saturday thru Friday? Or is it Sunday through Saturday? Just want to be sure I don't screw up.

Hey, I can testify that Marie has been very sick but simply doesn't complain. She is a real trooper and has probably been my biggest supporter and fan when I feel like an exercise loser. :worship: We definitely need her/you on our team and I'd be just sick if you leave! Please stay with us; when you're healthy you double my miles and are faster and a great supporter. YEAH MARIE!! :cheer2: You'll be healthy soon! Can't wait to jog with you again when your asthma finds its rightful place in the garbage can! :cool1:
Marie, will you promise to stay and pick up my slack when I inevitably hit a bad spot? Please?!? :flower3:

Look at this team spirit! This is what the challenge is about. The Panda would be proud!

Marie--I think that decides it. You're not going anywhere, and you are giving us stair totals. :)

Allyson, Saturday to Friday is correct. I waited until Saturday to put it in the spreadsheet so that I didn't leave out our western friends. :)

Stick with it Marie and feel better. Don't worry about the miles and hours. Its just a motivational thing so the numbers are unimportant. Also don't push yourself too hard for the team. Only do what you can safely do. If that means waiting a couple months until youre healthy, then thats fine.

Ditto the responses from Ducky and Sandy. The end of this challenge is almost a year away. There is plenty of time and you should count ALL that you do!:cheer2:

Are you kidding?!? OUR team absolutely rocks!!! :rockband:

I ran 3 miles today / 31:40
warmup & cooldown .50 / 10:00

I will add it all up though next Friday. :goodvibes

The run almost killed me. My legs felt like lead - I guess from my LR on Friday. I had multiple things going - left knee hurt, allergies acting up, shorts underneath running skirt kept creeping up, kept burping up my salad and the wind was intense. Not so good a run. :lmao:

That's for sure!

And yet, you still did it! :cheer2: I think the shorts creeping up would have done me in, let alone the salad and the wind....

Isn't funny how some days - it's like magic. And then...there are those days that you wished you would have just stayed home! But you persevered and THAT'S A REAL HERC'S HERO!

I hope those days are few and far between for everyone!

Go Team!

Sat - 5 miles - 43:40
Sun - 13.1 miles - 2:04:47

Race reports posted! Wait these count double now is that right?!?

Yes, Matt, races count double! Woohoo! Good work!

I've officially decided to use the Bingham MfM plan--the others are too aggressive for me, I think. So, following my new plan, tonight was 50 minutes, 2.5 miles. :)

Go, team five!

Hanging in there, Marie? It's bitter cold outside here. Stay in and don't push yourself. My dr says that as long as I'm coughing, there's to be no exercise. If your doc told you the same, please follow that! We want you to get better!

:)

:tiptoe: Oooh, look! A little lurky alien coming to visit her heroes! This shout-out goes to Marie! Don't leave your team--everything you said about wanting to be on the team, about getting to know other people, about doing your best...that's why you SHOULD be playing. You're a true teammate, and a competitor, in the best sense of the word. And your teammates know what a gem they have in you. But if they ever forget, even for a second, well, then, you just come over to Ohana. We'll welcome you with open arms. (As I'm sure every team in the challenge would!)

As for Matt, aren't you a little tired of all those races? Aren't they a little old hat by now? Shouldn't you move on to something more challenging, like stamp collecting? :rotfl: (No offense to any stamp collectors out there....)

Morning everyone

I had tech problems the past few days could not get on:eek:

I do not have exact time or miles so I am going to say 10 miles since Thursday on TM only average 15 min per mileprincess:

Hello Herc's! Hope everyone is feeling strong today! :thumbsup2

Ran this morning with DH on a trail run. I AM NOT A TRAIL RUNNER! I don't know how he does it. I think I cursed half of the time. :guilty:

Anyway, ran 4 miles - 46:50 plus warmup and cooldown .50 - 10:00.
Had to walk up several hills. Pace was awful. Hills stink!

OK, I'm done venting... :rolleyes1 :lmao:
