TEAM FIVE: Herc's Heroes--Post miles/hours here!

Today, I mallwalked for an hour--and did 3.5 miles! Much faster than before!

I'm trying to decide if I should do the Higdon plan or switch to Bingham's "Marathoning for Mortals" plan. The difference is doing 5 miles tomorrow or another 3....

And I'm working myself up to doing some cross-training this afternoon or tomorrow, too....
 
Ms Team Captain- are you going to update the Google spreadsheet with information for our team? It's kind of like XT:)

It would be helpful if everyone could post their total miles and time (hours:minutes format) at the end of each week--it took me awhile to go through this thread and add it all up (and to convert the yards to miles).

Use the thread to post your daily stuff, and then at the end of the week, give us your tally--it will make the spreadsheet more accurate since I'm going cross-eyed adding times and miles to totals....

Went out for my first jaunt with my new Garmin!! I got the 205. Anywho, did 3 miles, 37.5 minutes. :) Might do a little something else this evening if the Spirit moves me!
 
Hey, all.... We're leading in BOTH miles AND minutes! Woohoo!

Team 7 hasn't posted yet, though, so don't get overly celebratory on us.

Also, if you didn't see in the walker thread, the Wise Panda has offered double miles for those competing in local races. So go sign up for a 5k! :banana: Seriously, this is an amazing week, and I can't thank everyone here enough for keeping my butt in gear!

Hey team,

I was inactive for a few days due to tests and stuff so I apologize.

Good news is I felt bad so I put in a big day today. Ill post my weekly totals on Thursdays from now on so don't count todays totals up, Ill add them in on thursdays total.

Biking: 1:30 for 23.45 mi.
Boxing: 15 minutes

DH wants to do nekkid cleaning :rotfl2: so it will "count" - j/k about counting - but not about cleaning, I made him do 3 hours!! :rotfl2: Why wait till spring - I'm trying to organize our Chritmas stuff, and basement stuff, and tool stuff, and scout stuff, etc etc...

I'm signed up for an 8K end of March!!

You shouldn't need one to see the spreadsheet, Sandy. If you want to be able to make changes as the co-captain, then you need to visit the thread and PM your email to the organizers so they can grant you access to make changes. :)

As far as the nekkid cleaning, :laughing: I couldn't tell if you were kidding about the nekkid or the counting it, but I hope you guys are having a great time inside so you don't have to shovel! :rotfl:

I am reporting in for this past week as follows:

2/4 Core workout DVD - .5 hours
5 miles - 1 hour run/walk
2/5 9 miles - 1 hour bike ride
2/8 8 miles - 2 hours run/walk
2/9 200 miles - nevermind wrong bike - Harley rides don't count - but my butt got a nice workout!

Total then is 4.5 hours and 22 miles for the week

For the record, this is actually working for me - I am such a good procrastinator. Since I don't have anything happening until the Minnie, yet (we are still looking for something to do between now and then), this challenge is working. I just got to keep injury and illness free.

So post as we do stuff, but at the end of the week put in our grand tally? What days do you want us to post our grand tally? Thursday or Friday?

So for the half I'm doing in March I can count that as 26.2 instead of 13.1?!? Hey, I will have done a marathon! :lmao:

The totals are compared and posted to the weekly thread MONTHLY; the spreadsheet helps us keep tallies by the week. Because I'm on the East Coast and the weekly totals should be posted to this thread on Friday, I updated the spreadsheet on Saturday so those on the west coast would be included (this week took a long time because I had to total each person's miles and hours!).

And woohoo! We can count it as a full marathon, can't we? Well done! :cool1:

My head is in a weird place with all the discussions... I know our team has triathletes - but it also has me - I am so not an asset - I have a history of procrastination, doing the minimum, quitting, etc... I have high hopes - I'm one of those that would join a gym in Jan and stop showing up my March - (and since I'm old and know my failings, I've never joined a gym!!) I tend to go on the defensive, and am loyal to a fault - so glad dh knows this about me ( and still loves me!! Bless him!!) He has told me to step away from the computer - stay out of the shirt thread ("its just a shirt")

I'm trying real hard not to be a quitter - but this weather is so not helping - its -20 below zero - you cant breath in this wind (went outside to get the paper!!)

(and for the record I was being silly about the cleaning/exercise post - trying to lighten my mood!! Altho we are in a cleaning mood - trying to get rid of the clutter I've accumulated!!)

PS Duckie - that game of meeting people at POP would so be fun!! It was overwhelming - part of my problem is it took the bus 2 hours to get from BCV to POP - poor planning on my part - only I wont be at pop until 2010!! Hope others will still want to do another marathon then!!

I hear you on the procrastination--that's why I volunteered to be captain--I thought it would force me to stick with this (and if you joined the gym in January and quit in March, you'd be ahead of me--last time I joined the gym, I paid for three months and made it a WEEK!). The triathletes on our team are a great reminder of the power of cross-training--I will be checking out the bike this week, and maybe the elliptical (and I think about a rowing machine, but it seems scary).

The cold weather is why I joined the gym again! I guess maybe you could get some workout dvds? :confused3

(and I knew you were kidding--i just thought it was funny that you said you were only kidding about counting it and not the cleaning part, but you did NOT say you were only kidding about the nekkid part! :rotfl: )

PS Wouldn't that be cool? Of course people will still be running the marathon in 2010! If Disney is holding it, people will come! :goodvibes

Ducky...after looking at the spreadsheet for w/e 2/8...I think I was confused (or rather DH told me I was confused). I reported 3.25 miles and 1.5 hours for 2/2. And above, I reported what I did this past week. I think these two figures need to be combined for w/e 2/8. Sorry about that...I think I am on the right track now with weeks ending on Fridays. So I guess I am at 6 hours and 25.25 miles to date. I will keep track of miles/hours and tally up on Friday (2/15).

I saw that, Missy, and since the totals don't get reported until March 1, I was just going to add it into the next week rather than ask you to recalculate. Thanks for the updated numbers--I'll put them into the spreadsheet right now!

Hey guys,

I need all of your advice. I cannot tell you how much I want to be on this team, but I feel as tho' I am letting you all down.
My weak link is my asthma. Every winter I develop a case of asthmatic bronchitis that lingers for months. I cannot run up the steps at work without coughing and trying so hard to breathe at the top. I attempted two run/walks since the start of this competition, but did not log them due to the extremely slow pace (could hardly call it exercise since I stoped often to wheeze and cough). :sick:

I really think I will do well with the miles and time (I also bicycle), in a few more weeks, and I'd love to get to know all of you better(--and this was the way to do it) :dance3: , but I should probably drop out since I've already let Team 5 down as the only one not logging in at all. I don't know what else to do? :guilty:
