TEAM DONALD--Biggest Loser 11 Spring Team Challenge

Thanks for making me feel so welcome everyone :) I told my mom about this yesterday and she's really happy for me. She says this challenge is a great idea and will probably really help me stick to it.

But I must say this is the easiest "diet" I've ever done. It's not really a diet it's just learning healthy habits that I didn't know before. As long as I stick to eatingmy three meals and snacks I can make it through the day jsut fine without feeling like I'm starving. and I'm trying to make good food choices for those meals and snacks.

This morning I had a one egg omelet with one slice of turkey breast and just a little cheese... turns out I can't make omelets :lmao: so it ended up being scrambled egg with turkey and cheese lol but still delicious. with just a tiny bit of ketchup.

My 6 word success phrase... hmmmm

that's a tough one. I may have to think about that for a bit :D

Happy Thursday Team Donald :D

I'm going out to get a scale today... I'm going to check out Target like a PP suggested :)

:wave2:
Starting out slow today. Have to be at the gym at 1 for training on the other half of the machines. I was going to workout before but not sure that I will make it early, so may do it afterward.

I have a bunch of things going on today and in that process should end up seeing almost all of my friends. Very interested to see if anyone notices that something is "different". If no one does then I am going to get new friends! :rotfl2: Actually DH and I have a bet on who will be the first one to say something and the one we both agreed would probably be it is the only one I won't see today!

I put corned beef in the crock pot last night to cook overnight because it wasn't thawed enough so no way it would have enough time to cook today. So now it is ready and it smells so good! I am going to have to leave the house just so I don't eat it all! I think part of my excitement about being gone this weekend is that I don't have to plan the meals for 3 days! DH and the kids like to choose their own things to cook together while I am gone. Usually they make things I don't really like--lots of onions and peppers!

Just finished watching the last two night's of American Idol. Definitely a good season. Usually there are only a few I like but this year there are only a few don't like.

And I am SO proud of you for being the 1st runner up!! And have fun with your scrapping this weekend.
Thank you so much. I love having the support and accountability here.

When we returned from that trip I did something I had NEVER done before..... I got RIGHT BACK ON TRACK with my Weight Watchers plan and my exercise. My next goal was to hit 145.... that was slightly higher than my wedding weight (which seemed totally unattainable) and it seemed like it would be a good place for me. But I hit it and kept going!

Those who know me (like the veterans here), know that I have dropped my goal weight a few more times, but never quite hit it. While that is a frustration at times, I try to keep in mind that I am SO MUCH BETTER off trying to maintain at my current weight than to give up all together because I can't hit that final goal. Sure, I still have that "number" in my mind and I still feel like someday I could see it..... but honestly, if it is THIS HARD to get there, I can't imagine that I could maintain it for long.
I look back and laugh because my current very ultimate goal weight is exactly what I weighed the first time I joined Weight Watchers-- 135. :rolleyes2 I would absolutely love to be that weight now! But I am actually not aiming for one particular number. I have a goal range of 130-150. I know that my body has particular places where it is comfortable. I am predicting that I will hit a major plateau at 180 because I weighed that for years-- my body was just "comfortable" there. I hope it can get VERY comfortable at 135-140!:rotfl:

I have the same problem with omelets! Scrambled with stuff in it is so much easier.

Did you decide on a specific eating plan to follow or are you just tracking your eating with Sparkpeople? Have you seen their menus that are laid out for you on there? I think you said that you wanted something really specific?

Finding something that is "easy" really is the key. You want to change your habits for life, not suffer through on a temporary diet. Real lifetime changes mean you need to learn how to still enjoy the things you like but in a way that allows you to be healthy. Stick around here and post as often as you can, the accountability and being able to talk to others that understand what you are going through is really a wonderful help.

yeah my husband thinks he's so smart. He does the omelet flip with the pan and everything and it looks beautiful and then there's mine, a scrambled mess.

I'm not following a specific eating plan just yet. I'm just trying to enter in what I plan to eat the following day just to see where it puts me in my goals and so far it's actually going really well and is super easy. I'm staying right within my target ranges on everything. but it's only been two days so I know that's going to get harder to plan the days food and then I think I'll start looking at their meal plans and recipes.

thats what I said to my mom lol... being on the WISH section holds me accountable to more than just myself... like there will be people saying HEY hows it going over there LOL and that will help me I think. she thinks it's great that there is such a place for me to come to.

I really had no idea what I was doing when I decided to do this but having the calorie tracker on sparkpeople has really shown me how easy it can be to eat proper portions. I think I was making it out to be more complicated than it needed to be and I think that's why I always failed lol. I was always thinking "hmmm is this too fatty... is this too much... is this good for me" etc but I didn't have any of the answers so it was discouraging. the calorie tracker makes it super easy to say "is this too much sugar? YES it is" lol

it's day three and I'm still excited about it ... so that's a good sign lol. usually I'm starting to wane by now (I know after only three days lol)

I figured out what I'm doing wrong! The shampoo I use in the shower that runs down my body says "For extra volume and body". I'm going to start using "Dawn" dish soap. It says " Dissolves fat that is otherwise difficult to remove". Dieting and exercise-- what a waste!

:rotfl2:

(a friend posted this on FB and I had to share it here!)

Awesomeness!!!! :rotfl2:

Okay ladies..... this is SO nerve-wracking.... but I'm posting before and after shots. This before shot is a NIGHTMARE..... I actually physically cringe when I look at it. The ONLY reason I never destroyed it is because it was a keepsake photo taken of DD and I at our first Mother/Daughter weekend. DD looks SO cute and I.... well..... all I can say is ICK.

Probably at near my largest in May 2002:

ry%3D400

May 2010 at Epcot with DS.... just 2 pounds away from goal:
ry%3D400

.................P

You are beautiful :lovestruc in both photos - just healthier in the 2nd :goodvibes. Congrats on your success!! I aspire to be like you!!

HI team Donald :D I'm the newest member of the team I suppose lol

I went out to get a scale today and couldn't find one :O lol so as soon as I get one (hopefully tomorrow) I can post my actual weight and track my (hopefully) weight loss :D

I'm looking forward to joining the challenge :D

Welcome!!!!

Well I'm off to a good start today. Been eating right and have already done my treadmill that I barely squeezed in before getting DS5 from school!

I am so perfect during my day w/ my eating unitl late afternoon and all heck breaks loose!! Seems like I'm reading that often on here  form others too. I need to get some healthy snacks at the ready for those moments.

I also learned that I cannot be around pizza right now apparently! Had a crazy rushed day w/ kids events so wa going to pick up a pizza for them for dinner. I was going to have a LC pizza. I was doing all my positive self talk on the way there and making my plan and reviewing my goals etc! Well the pizza gets home and on my tabel and I open the box and take 1 sniff and OMG I just ate 2 peices - how did THAT just happen!!! :lmao: Even worse I think I ate 2 more pieces later :scared1: SO I ate 1/2 a pizza the other night!!! That explains my scale jumping up I guess. ugh! You'd think it had crack on it!

But I did make some good choices last night when I went out w/ my GF's. We went to LaMadeleine and I had the non fat chicken Ceasar which is about 400 calories I think. They've done a good job w/ having more healthier choices. They have a shrimp and talapia that's even less I'll try next time. We hit Starbuck later and I ordered a Vanilla Rooibos tea instead of a coffee drink. So I;m proud of that I guess.

Ok - a new day - get back on track!! Not sure I'll post a loss this week or not. Hopefully al that salt will be gone tomorrow. Gotta go drink more water :cool1:

OK I need some tips for good protiens. :D

DisFam95 yeah I'm not sure I could be trusted around pizza right now either HAHAHA.

I will find you a link that I shared from a weight loss challenge I was involved in a few months ago. Give me a few minutes to locate it!

One thing I try and always have around is LUNA protein bars. I actually have been eating those for lunch everyday!

TTFN :tigger:

ok did insanity this week (all week) and treadmill everyday...I hurt...but I cant stay away from the damn candy hearts...going to have to just throw them out...and I know its after Valentines day. going to make a batch of irish potates for the kids at school ...since then i can have one and the rest are gone! Yeah!

ATTENTION: Big Changes Coming!!!

Ok, only little changes, but hopefully I got your attention.:goodvibes

We will be merging the threads on Friday, March 25th. What does this mean? Well basically it means that we will no longer be reporting statistics for teams. This includes, HH, WIN and weekly weigh-ins. You will continue to send your team name in with your numbers, because it will make it easier for our record keepers to find you. Coaching and QOTD will be run from the main thread and I will only be updating the main thread.

This is the first time in a while that we have done a BL Team Challenge. We decided to do a Team Challenge because we have such a large number of participants at the beginning of the year. As the temps continue to warm-up things will slow down. I realize that the thread will be busy at first, and for that reason, folks are welcome to continue to chat on their team threads if they would rather, but we strongly encourage everyone to move to the main thread. We will only be running one thread this summer.

Thank you to tggrrstarr (Kelli) for volunteering to coach the first week. She was scheduled to coach for Team Mickey, and since we had no one signed up to coach for Team Donald, we decided to merge a week early.

I have the following coaching spots available. Please send me a PM if you are interested. I am really excited about merging, and being able to catch up with some old friends and make some new ones.:goodvibes As always, if you have any questions, please send me a pm.

Welcome to Healthy Habits Week 10!

Please read carefully. There are a few surprises this week!

My name is CC (short for Christina) and I will be your Healthy Habits coach for BL 11. I love the BL challenges and Healthy Habits has helped me significantly in achieving many of my goals.

Some Background Information: Thanks to donac (Dona-hostess of Team Donald) and jenanderson for their amazing help so I know how to coach! I couldn’t do this without seeing them in action previously. I will be continuing the prizes that Jen started.

Here’s How Healthy Habits Works for Week 10: This week, there will be 5 Healthy Habits (HH) to complete. The first two HHs will still be drinking water and exercising. The next 3 are below. At the end of each week, you will tally up the number of points you earned for the week and send me a private message with your total. There are 35 possible points for Week 10.

Your total points (ex: 12/18) AND your team name should be in the subject of your PM.

This is a team competition. On/about Tuesday evening, I will post the week’s results. I will share the number of participants on each team and the top scorers on each team. New for BL 11: I will also list the people who earned 7/7 on one or more of the HHs for the week. If you participated on the team with the most participants, you will be entered into a drawing for the week's prize. Each prize will have something to do with the 3rd Healthy Habit for the week. I will post the 3 winners and ask that they PM me their contact information. (Please Note: If you do not wish to be entered into the drawing, please let me know in your PM. I understand people’s WISHes for privacy.)

Special for Week 10: All participants on both teams who earn 35/35 points will be entered into a drawing for the 4th prize.

Participation in Healthy Habits is entirely optional, but I encourage you to participate and help your team be on top for the week. Good luck on your journey and I hope that HHs helps you as much as it continues to help me!

Welcome to Health Habits Week 10

Week 10 is 3/4-3/10

This week's 5 Healthy Habits are:
1) Drink Eight 8 oz. glasses of water.
2) Exercise a minimum of 30 minutes a day.
3) Journal you food.*

4) Eat a total of 5 servings of fruits and veggies per day.
5) Write down 1 positive aspect of your day each day.**

*Journaling is something that is very important for many of us so it's back for another week. I encourage you to journal infomation like PointsPlus, calories, fat, etc., but even just writing down every bite you had that day is great! :goodvibes

**Also Special for Week 10: Share your list of positives on your team thread on any day Friday, March 11-Monday, March 14 and you will be entered into a drawing for the 5th and final prize for Week 10!

Remember, every participant counts, regardless of the number of points you earn!

If you have any questions, please free to ask!

OK I need some tips for good protiens. :D

DisFam95 yeah I'm not sure I could be trusted around pizza right now either HAHAHA.

I don't know if you are trying to eliminate animal proteins or not. Here are a few protein ideas that I enjoy.....

egg whites.... all protein/no fat. Kind of a win/win, unless you are vegan or avoiding eggs for any reason.

peanut butter (or any nut butter)..... lots of fat (usually the good kind), but SO YUMMY.... but be sure to measure to keep portions under control.

hummus..... excellent plant protein and delicious on salad and as a dip with veggies.... again, a bit fatty, so keep the measuring spoon handy.

fish..... both white fish and oily fish like salmon.... excellent source of protein and omega-3 fatty acids! Aim for wild caught rather than farmed.

cottage cheese.... this is one cheese that I can tolerate the fat-free version of with no problem. Very yummy with fruit!

yogurt..... I prefer Stonyfield Farms organic fat-free french vanilla.... I enjoy a parfait with fruit and something crunchy... usually FiberOne cereal, sometimes a few chopped almonds.

tofu...... don't knock it til you've tried it. I actually make a "peanut butter spread" with tofu and pb. I'll share the recipe if anyone is interested. It is also excellent in a stirfry.... and the silken variety makes an excellent "pudding" substitute and is great in a smoothie.

beans (black, white, kidney, garbanzo).... I add beans to soups, salads, stir-fry.... and refried beans are a very tasty spread for toast and tortillas. I also add refried beans to ground beef dishes like sloppy joes, meatloaf, taco meat (we eat more ground beef than chicken, since DS is allergic to chicken).

Hope that helps for now.

I'm excited for the merge!!! Things have been pretty quiet on this thread lately..... and I'm missing my Team Mickey friends!!

I should be able to coach one of those weeks. Let me check my calendar and shoot off a PM to you tomorrow. Thanks for all you do to keep us organized and on task!!

Evening friends! Uneventful day here. I got two or three loads of laundry folded and put away, but then I pooped out on it. Got a few scrapping pages done and kind of just puttered away most of the day on "stuff" like vacumming, sorting recycling, and driving DD to swim. Hit the TM for only 40 minutes, but I'm still dealing with the hip pain, plus sore thighs from Tuesdays 100 squats and 100 lunges.

I'll see you all tomorrow.....................P

Good Friday morning Team Donald.

I had a post started but moved my laptop and the battery fell out and I lost everything.

My dr appointment went well. My bp was high but the ones I took last were pretty good. I brought my bp machine with me and did it in her office and it was about the same as the one the nurse got. Since my readings from last week were good she is not changing anything. She wants me to keep taking them and if they keep going up I am supposed to call for an appoitnment. My cholesterol was 169 and the blood work looked good so she is happy.

MY weight was not what I expected. I am usually in one room and in that room the scale is about the same as mine and the one I sometimes use at school. This one was way above the number my scale here showed last week.

Have to go. Will have more time tomorrow

Have a happy and healthy day.

Good morning Donalds!

I am the coach this week.

I know, some are asking, who is she? I am a lawyer from Nova Scotia, Canada, and have been on and off the lists for a while (mostly off).

I joined this challenge, however, with the goal of at least being consistent and following through.

I will write more later this afternoon - this day is quite busy for me.

But I wanted to start with a rather self serving QOTD, which is basically:

We are sort of at the mid way point in the challenge. How are you doing so far?

I just think it is helpful to stop, look around and kind of re focus at this point.

As I said, I will write a lot more later, including my own answer to this question, but I thought I would throw it out to start.

Looking forward to hearing from you. This is my first time doing this, so bear with me, but "coaching" falls into my consistency goal. It will mean that I need to stay in touch with this thread regularly and I will.

Have a great day and I will write again later this afternoon.

Linda

:tinker::donald:

Woohoo me! I hit 10%!! My goal was to hit 20% by the end of this challenge and I might actually make it!
I was updating the qotd list, and saw this!! Whoo hoo, Buffy!! That is fabulous, and you can so make 20% this challenge!! You can do anything you set your mind to. Congrats!!

the QOTD is
What is your 6 word Success Story?
Never give up!! Keep on trying!!

Thank you Pudge for coaching this past week. You had some great qotds, and I hope to get some free time this weekend to answer a few more, and help keep me on the right track post vaca.

Eat less. Exercise more. Feel fabulous!

Move more, eat less, be happier.
You two are on the same wavelength!! Great minds think alike, and lose the weight!!

Welcome Linda as this weeks coach!! You will be awesome. The great thing about coaching is it does help keep you focused during the week and checking in here which can really make a big difference.

While I was updating the qotd post, I saw all my birthday wishes and good luck wishes for the race. Thank you so much. Such a wonderful feeling to come back and know you were all here thinking of us and cheering us on.

My birthday was so much fun. My sil went to DHS with the kids so I got to go to the expo alone, and met Lisa, Lindsay and Rose. It was so amazing to actually meet them in real life, and as I expected they were all as beautiful and nice as they are here. Lisa treated me and my family to a wonderful lunch at Sci-fi drive in theater. So sweet. It is so fun to have the birthday button on in wdw, and have so many people wish me happy birthday. It was funny, later in the week, my sil and I jokingly, had a little contest as to who could get the most congratulations/birthday wishes to other people in the park. We practically accosted someone with a birthday button trying to say it first. :rotfl2: May not sound as funny here as it was at the time, but we can get a little competetive.

I lost 3 pounds so my official vaca weight gain is 3.2 pounds. Not too bad, really. Love this weeks HH. Journalling, exercise and water at 3 things that make a huge difference to me. I am going to do them all this week.

Good luck to everyone as you weighin this weekend!! Hope the scale is good to you, but if not, don't give it the power to send you off track. You are making healthy choices, and the will show up on the scale eventually. Hang in there.

Have a great friday!!:)

Good morning team donald. I've been a lurker. I don't know why. I guess I haven't felt like I had anything of value to add. I've been doing ok but not great. I'm steadily going down but it's very slow. Life has been so busy! My sister got engaged and is planning a fall wedding so I've been helping a lot with that and exercise has been falling to the side a little. The good news is, a bridesmaids dress adds motivation for me.

QOTD - I'm proud of my achievements for the first half of the challenge. I've lost 5 lbs which is not quite halfway to my goal of 13. I REALLY want to be almost to that goal, another 5 by my vacation at the end of April so I'm going to work so hard to get there. That gives me all of my to get the last 3 pounds off. As I look to the long term, I want to use the summer to lose another 5 lbs, which puts me into the ideal weight range for me and also tone up in time for my sister's wedding. Just like every other woman, I have the common places to tone, arms, chest, upper back, belly and thighs. I'd love it if I could have thighs that don't rub together when I walk and get a rash when wearing skirts!

I'm working to learn to treat food as feul not fun. This is tough. My family loves to go out to eat for celebrations like birthdays.

That was a lot of rambling.

Pamela - WOW WOW WOW WOW! Your picture is fantastic! My first thought was, all of her wonderful advice gets her there! We can all learn so much!

Linda - welcome as coach. Thanks for the wonderful QOTD.

QOTD: How are you doing so far?

I haven't given up . That is a BIG one for me. I may not be doing as great as I was at first, But I haven't Quit.
I am making better choices on food and I am still exercising, even if it's not a 20mile jog it's still exercise.
I may not journal every day But I want to do good in HH this week so I am on it now :)
so although the pounds aren't dropping like before, and there are days I just want to say Poo to it all and give up. I haven't.

a freind of mine who has lost over 120 pounds and is losing more ( she was almost 240 pounds overweight) told me it never is easy, but it is worthwhile.
and like her hero John Bingham, she said just to start. Never give up, even when you slip and fall.
or as Dory from Nemo would say : Just keep swimming !

LOL@ just keep swimming. I will keep telling myself that

it's so great to hear how everyone is doing.

I weighed myself this morning to get my weight before eating anything. so I will try to do m y weigh ins first thing in the morning so I get an accurate weight. I need to send my weight here to Tigger so we can keep track for the challenge :)

I have another food question. I was thinking of making a veggie pizza tonight (maybe some chicken on it too) but I was wondering if anyone had any ideas for what the best crust would be. I want to get a healthy crust.

I have one here that says you cut the pizza into quarters (so that's a pretty big slice) and it has 170 calories, only 2g of fat but it has 32g of carbs but only 2 of those are sugars. This is a pizza crust mix you just add water.

but I was wondering if anyone knew of something BETTER to use :D

Sorry about the computer troubles.... what a pain in the butt!

Glad to hear that it sounds like your BP is under control. I certainly wouldn't worry too much about the difference in the scales... as long as YOU know the true numbers.

:tinker::donald:

First off..... thanks so much for coaching this week. I've done it several times in the past and it is a GREAT motivator for a good week both with food and exercise... and it is a good week for introspection.

QOTD: Well... I'm doing okay. I've been struggling for months and months now to hit my "ultimate" number.... but even if I never hit it, I'm okay with maintaining about where I am now. I've had a modest loss three weeks in a row now, so that is good.

While I was updating the qotd post, I saw all my birthday wishes and good luck wishes for the race. Thank you so much. Such a wonderful feeling to come back and know you were all here thinking of us and cheering us on.

Glad you saw all the well wishes! We were all thinking of all of our Princess runners and we were so proud!

WOOOHOOO on losing the 3 pounds. A vacation gain of 3.2 is NOTHING! My thoughts are that the faster it comes on, the faster it can come off!

Love to hear more of your QOTD answers when you have time.

QOTD: How are you doing so far?

I haven't given up . That is a BIG one for me. I may not be doing as great as I was at first, But I haven't Quit.I am making better choices on food and I am still exercising, even if it's not a 20mile jog it's still exercise.
I may not journal every day But I want to do good in HH this week so I am on it now :)
so although the pounds aren't dropping like before, and there are days I just want to say Poo to it all and give up. I haven't.

That is a HUGE key! If you give up, where will it get you? No matter HOW frustrating this is or HOW difficult it seems, what is the other option? Giving up? What will that get you?

One of my favorite WW leaders had a saying.....
"If you always do what you've always done, you'll always get what you always got."

a freind of mine who has lost over 120 pounds and is losing more ( she was almost 240 pounds overweight) told me it never is easy, but it is worthwhile.
and like her hero John Bingham, she said just to start. Never give up, even when you slip and fall.
or as Dory from Nemo would say : Just keep swimming !

Another great WW saying..... "Sure it's hard.... but so is being overweight, so pick your hard." That is the TRUTH! Sure, this weight loss lifestyle is NOT easy. I don't think anyone would disagree with me. But being overweight and unhealthy isn't easy either! So PICK YOUR HARD! For myself..... I picked the "hard" of maintaining an almost 90 pound weight loss. And I can ASSURE YOU, I wake up everyday happy with that decision!!

During our last challenge one of our veterans (wish I could remember who.... Kathy?? Rose??) challenged us ALL to say "I WILL NEVER QUIT!!" It was very affirming! Even if you are only saying the words, if you keep saying them, you will eventually believe them.

Well.... happy Friday morning everyone. I hope the scale showed a number that made you happy. If not, what are you going to do this week to change that??

My cold is a bit worse again today. I wish it would just get bad all at once and then run its course and go away..... this business of it gradually getting just a tiny bit worse every day for a week is for the birds!!

Well.... I've accomplished NOTHING so far today and that needs to change. Laundry, beds to make, etc. I'll be back later to chat................P

When I make pizza for the family I use Mama Marie's (??) whole wheat crust (found in the refridgerator section). It is a thin crispy crust.

When I am just craving a pizza for myself, I use a 60 calorie flaxseed/oat bran pita pocket as the crust. HTH.................P
